Best Price: $17.99 $10.52

Pink, pink, pink. More than anything, Pinkalicious loves pink, especially pink cupcakes. Her parents warn her not to eat too many of them, but when Pinkalicious does . . . she turns pink! What to do?

This sparkling picture book, filled with such favorites as pink bubble gum, pink peonies, pink cotton candy, and pink fairy princess dresses, celebrates all things pink while showing that being yourself is best of all.

  • A rude, disrespectful child

    By A2NTT8YCGYKEZY on 2007-10-22
I was attracted to this book because my daughter loves anything pink. I almost bought it online without seeing it first and now am very glad that I went to a local store and read the book before ordering it.

In a nutshell, the main character in this book is rude, disrespectful and disobedient. She sticks her tongue out at her mother and willfully disobeys her mother's direction. She is sassy and rude. She also never suffers any real consequences for her belligerent behavior. These are not the values I want to pass on to my children.

If you are on the fence, I encourage you to go to a local store and read this book before purchasing it. You will be surprised at what you read.

  • Cute, colorful, and entertaining

    By AYUO5IFDZK2SL on 2007-10-24
I bought this book a few weeks ago and my kids already know it by heart! Is there any such thing as too much pink? Pinkalicious loves pink. She especially loves yummy cupcakes with pink frosting. But, when she eats too many of them, she turns pink and comes down with a horrible case of pinkititis !!!! The doctor says the cure is to stop eating pink and to eat a steady diet of green foods. Can Pinkalicious resist the pink cupcakes sitting on the refrigerator? You must read Pinaklicious to fint it out. The words are pinkticious-delicious and the pictures are pinkorgeous-gorgeous. In between the whole fun there also is useful message about proper nutrition and the merits of a balanced diet. I also recommend a series of fun-filled books with great educational values titled Why Some Cats are Rascals

  • Perfectly Titled!

    By AOV9AIX4UE5BB on 2007-01-04
If you or the girls in your life love pink, then this is the book for you . . . no matter what your age. Every little girl on earth will laugh, giggle and want to read this pinkaliciously delectable book over and over. For the life of me I can't understand why the Amazon review said the main character was annoying. She's a perfectly normal little girl who loves all things PINK and all things sweet. It's hilarious that in order to return to her normal color that she has to eat lots of green vegetables. What a perfect solution, and a good lesson, too! Buy this book for the girls in your life---you'll get tons of hugs and kisses for it!!

  • Could have been good with some editing

    By A161KQ60IDV6VZ on 2007-10-14
Honestly, this book could have been cute. What's with trying to shove it down a kids throat that vegetables are gross? Mine eats them all the time with no problems (she's 4) and I don't want some book telling her about "gagging" and "choking down" vegetables. In one of the pictures Pinkalicious is sticking out her tongue at her monther - great manners (insert sarcasm here). I guess I just expected something cute and a sweet story...this was not it. This is about greed, disobeying your parents and overindulgence.

  • Super-licious!

Pink. Pink. Pink. Is there any such thing as too much pink? ("NO WAY!" says the reviewer who had a hot pink wedding in the late 80s!)

Pinkalicious loves pink. She especially loves yummy cupcakes with pink frosting. But, when she eats too many...she turns pink and comes down with a horrible case of pinkititis. The doctor says the cure is to stop eating pink and to eat a steady diet of green foods. YUCK! Can Pinkalicious resist the pink cupcakes sitting on the refrigerator?

This picture book sings! The words are delicious and the pictures are gorgeous. Full of pink and lace and crowns, this book is a girly-girl's dream.

  • Objectionable content
    By A30XI55FE5W5ED on 2006-12-12
    1 star...why?
    1. the way the mother talks to the daughter, "you get what you get and you won't be upset", and then the daughter sticks out her tonge at her mother.
    2. the father appears 2x in the story. 1st time is to order the daughter to bed with a pointed finger.
    3. very negative towards green vegatables! actual comments like, "choke on an artihoke, gag on a grape, burp up a brussle sprout", and more.
    4. the daughter sneaks out of bed and builds a tower to climb to the top of the fridge.
All in all, bad examples for appropriate behavior and encourages a bad attitude towards healthy eating! There are too many other choices out there for good books that promote good roll models.

  • Buy the book Fancy Nancy instead
    By A3JP4UDAUV4PF9 on 2007-09-08
I was disappointed in this Pinkalicious book. If you have not already purched the book Fancy Nancy for your daughter you should -- much better book! My daughter is 5 and she still loves her Fancy Nancy book -- it is appropriate for ages 2-5 I'd say.

  • Wrong message
    By A6XU6ZT1JXN3N on 2008-01-10
Why do I want my children to read a book about how she had to choke down vegetables. My kids eat vegetables and I would like to keep it that way. And if your kid doesn't eat green vegetables they certainly won't after reading this book. Wrong message to send to kids. I also read purplicious that had a better message but when I went to read more in the front, there were words in this book I would not want my children to hear or pick up if I have a say in it.

  • Pinkalicious is stinkalicious
    By A2QJ7G73H6F4GP on 2008-03-04
I was very disappointed when I received this book, intended to give to my 15 month old granddaughter. It is a story about a little girl who is naughty and disrespectful. She sticks out her tongue and pitches a fit when she cannot have another cupcake. Contrary to what her mother and doctor told her, she sneaks into the kitchen and takes another cupcake. She sounds as though she is begging for a good old fashion spanking. I cannot give this to my granddaughter, and I'm very disappointed. Without knowing of the contents of the book, the posted outstanding 5-star reviews were what convinced me that the book was OK to order. Rapid City, SouthDakota

  • Terrible! Just Terrible
    By A12GDFDUHUXXC on 2008-02-20
I cannot believe this book even made it past a publisher's desk. I bought the book from Scholastic, as did four other parents and we are ALL sending it BACK! What a terrible temper on a little girl who willfully disobeys her parents and sneaks food. Burping up brussel sprouts? What a dissapointment this book was to all of us and it needs to be clearly said that this book should be shunned for it's message to children.

  • Fabulous and oh so pink
    By A3RDD2F0Y2NLV8 on 2006-06-05
This wonderful book is beautifully illustrated. The story is charming and it is a must for every pink princess in your life!

  • Yummy Yummy!
    By A2MLPDFJX6H6JW on 2006-08-16
My friend gave this book to my three-year old daughter and we LOVE reading it together. The story of a cupcake-eating little girl is adorable and the illustrations were among the best I've seen in any childrens' book. Although I thought the book was better for a girl, my friend's son also seems to like it. I highly recommend it for any little girl who has a pink fetish like my daughter has!

  • PINK-cellent!
    By AY3LNDGO8W1IL on 2006-09-20
What fun! This sugar-crazed tale embraces and embodies the wackiness of a young girl and her most recent obsessions. The text and the illustrations both convey the humorous but manic nature of pre-teens and their not-too-infrequent tendency to go a bit overboard. But this is not all just icing on a cake. At the core of this zany romp is a useful message about nutrition and the merits of a balanced diet.

  • Perfect for every pink crazy little girl!
    By A1AWOCPG9C419Q on 2007-03-27
This is such a wonderful cute book - perfect for any pink loving toddler ! My daughter has us read this book to her every night and she has memorized the entire book ..it is a must for every little girl's book collection!

  • Perfectly delicious!
    By A2EEEBRKJAUXAR on 2007-04-10
I bought this for my gandchildren and it was a big hit. They loved the story and so did I. We now quote our favorite parts and have our favorite pages (illustrations). BUY THIS BOOK! Your kids, grandkids, students and YOU will love the story.

  • One of my favorite kids' books
    By A2YYGSMZFK5GWE on 2007-04-30
I *love* Pinkalicious. It is one of the rare children's books that appeals equally to kids and grown-ups. My daughter and I giggle and grin every time we read it. The language and the illustrations are delicious. This book is certainly in my top 10 favorite picture books. If you have a daughter who loves pink (or even just loves cupcakes), this book is an essential addition to your home library.

  • Not So Delicious
    By AZ6LB9CWZHGSM on 2008-03-08
This book was AWFUL ~ I returned it!
I do not think a child should read a book with such a rude and disobedient character!
I do not recommend this book to ANYONE!

  • My daughter's favorite!
    By A25A90DM10IKNX on 2006-08-06
I bought my 3-year-old daughter this book last week and it has instantly become her favorite! It's the first book that she's ever responded this way to. She's always enjoyed listening to stories, but this book has literally taken on a life of its own in our home. We read it several times a day and I can honestly say that I enjoy reading it every time. At this point she has it memorized and she reads it to me! This is a great book for any little girl.

  • Nice book for girls who love PINK!
    By A24QXSZWIHJPAA on 2007-01-09
This is a fun little book about a girl who LOVES pink. After eating too many pink cupcakes, to her delight she actually turns pink! She eventually discovers that being herself is much better, and she eats green vegetables to turn back to herself again.

This book is cute and my six-year-old really enjoyed it as she is a big PINK fan herself. I am glad to have added it to our library, but I wouldn't rank it as one of our favorites. The story really wasn't so original, and the little girl got herself into her "pink problem" due to the fact that she disobeyed her parents' specific instructions to eat no more cupcakes. However, we did enjoy the play on words when the little girl decided to play "Pinker Bell" and "Pinkerella." Overall, it is a fun little book, but I wouldn't rank it as a "must have."

  • horrible influence!
    By A13IS76I5PEJ6X on 2008-04-16
The main character is a horribly rude little girl. Do NOT buy this unless you wish to set an perfect example of terrible behavior!

  • We love pink!
    By AYVLJKVDNW3PE on 2006-05-24
We loved the book. Cute and colorful, it entertained my three children, ages 6, 5, & 2 1/2. It's a great book with fabulous artwork, a wonderful book for any child's library!

  • Pink A Perfect!
    By A3UYX8PNO11HN6 on 2007-03-10
This is the cutest book! My girls read it over and over. One is 3 and she 'reads' the book. She has it memorized! It's their favorite!

  • girlie girl must have
    By A3IH562EU3LWSP on 2007-03-12
This book is totally for the girlie girl who loves pink. It is cute, cute, cute with great pictures and adorable, catchy text. I have read it many many times, and our daughter has it memorized. Recently, I read it to a preschool class of 3's and 4's, and they all really liked it. The teachers liked it too. I think the authors probably got the idea for this book from Chocolate Fever. You'll definitely want to have this for your home library.

  • A Perfectalicious Book for little Girls
    By A19XPLVKC8LCZZ on 2007-05-07
If you know a little girl who loves pink- and so many of them do- this is the most entertaining book to get for them. My grandaughter is four and we first discovered "Pinklalicious" at the library. The illustrations are colorful and very appealing to young children. There are also some embedded lessons about the importance of minding your parents and eating a balanced diet. However, the big attraction for my grandaughter was all of the pink used in the pictures. After reading it countless times and reaching our limit of renewals, we HAD to buy it at Amazon.

  • rude little girl
    By A1O2XK0FVM6OF on 2008-01-27
I got this book as a gift for my daughter and my 2 year loves the pictures, but the little girl is very rude and has a sassy mouth. She is disobedient and I find myself editing her words and making up my own story to go with the pictures. It could be a great story but the tone spoils it.

  • mixed review
    By A31NP28AL9XHQC on 2008-05-24
We all love this story in spite of the sassy, disobedient protagonist. I edit out the rude or negative words when I read it to the kids. The other day I was shocked to find my son standing on a child's chair which he had placed on top of another chair to reach the top of the fridge (where I keep his art stuff). He definitely got this idea from Pinkalicious. Luckily I caught him before he got hurt, but I decided to put Pinkalicious away for a while...

  • Cute with a little tweaking
    By A1NZW85TF51YPS on 2008-06-03
We received this as a gift, and my 3 year old daughter honestly loves it. However when reading aloud it I recommend the following modifications:

    - Skip the embellishments about how gross the vegetables are. We just say she ate her brussles sprouts, green beans, etc. and we point at all of the green foods on the page that my daughter eats.
    - We also say "NO, PINKALICIOUS!" when we see her standing on a tower of furniture to reach the cupcakes on top of the refrigerator.
    - I also usually mention that WE don't eat 6 cupcakes like Pinkalicious does because that is TOO MANY!
    - And it is not really possible to swing from the chandelier

The book has a few bothersome points like this but it is also a light and fluffy story that we enjoy. Hopefully by the time my daughter can read it to herself she will be old enough to ignore the negative messages.

  • Horrible Book
    By A2AT902U6103ZG on 2008-07-13
A triumph of superficiality and small-mindedness, only buy this book if you don't even remotely care about raising a thoughtful child with decent values.

  • I agree - Bad examples for kids
    By APMU1HC2OLY11 on 2008-10-15
I agree with many of the other reviewers here. I LOVE the illustrations and the story idea is so cute! (we love pink) BUT... there is too much bad behavior in this book. We all know how much little ones like to replicate. Unfortunately, this book gives a lot of bad ideas for kids to copy. Sticking tongue out at Mommy, climbing furniture, being rude and the worst to me was talking about veggies in a negative manner. My girls love veggies! I don't want them to get the idea that veggies are gross!

It is unfortunate the bad behavior is in this book because I really like the "idea" and the illustrations.

  • Good imagination? Great book!
    By A3AE7K00NNS2K4 on 2007-03-19
If your child has a wonderful imagination, they'll surely enjoy this book! Our daughter happened on pink as a toddler and she's pink inside and out to this day. It's fun, and children see how things turn out, depending on their choices.
