But Sarah and her friends got caught, and what was done without much thought leads to greater and greater consequences. Now they are facing punishment at school, tension at home, and no one is sure how or when it will end.

When you cheat on a test your cheating your self..... By A1DCQO5CR6KHIY on 2003-10-05
There is always a price to pay when you cheat even if you don't get caught. who would have ever thought of Shara to cheat? or that shed have to be called into the principal's office. Jake thought he was doing her a great favor after all, giving sarah the answers to last years test might give them a chance to becaome a cuple. He didn't think she'd share the anwers with three othe people! And then they got caught. within just onw weekend lives are changed, thoughts are thought out, and all actions are done from predmeditation. A great book that I couldn't put doen literally I started at 11:00 and finshed at 2:00am. a short and witty book to enjoy and at the same time learn of the many outcomes there are to cheating.
The Cheat By on 2004-11-08
On day, after finding the answers to the midterm, Sarah, Rob, and Jake get called into the principal's office. They all know why they have been called to the office, but they're not going to talk. They are all shaking in their shoes.
When Sarah sits down beside Jake at the library, he thinks she likes him. So, he sneeks into his older sister's room and steals the answers to last years years midterms. So Sarah calls Rob and tells him she has the answers to the midterm and she will share them with him. Sarah doesn't even know that Jake likes her. She just thought it was sweet that a guy she hardly knew brought her the answers and saved her from having to study all of that hard stuff.
Turns out, the answers have changed and they get caught! They each get four days suspension. The three get IT really hard from their parents. Jake also gets it from his sister for going into her room without premission. They learn a valuable lesson; study hard and don't cheat....even if it's for someone you really like.
I didn't really like this book as much as I thought I would. I wasn't really too surprised by the ending either. I mean, you could guess what would be on the next page, and you'd be right! I really wouldn't reccomend this book to anyone, but if you like being bored to death, you might want to check it out.
So basically, all this book really talks about is kids cheating on a test, getting busted, and getting suspended for it. Like I said, I didn't enjoy this book and I don't think anyone would. I think thay the author could have added more "zing" to the book, but, oh well. Than you so much for reading.

This book had a unique writing form in which it had different chapters with view point of all the charachters instead of just one of them so you know what each of the characters is thinking. It was a great book and had a good moral.
Good lesson, Boring story! By A262D8BDXWYL23 on 2005-04-14
I was forced to read it in my English class and I thought that it was the worst story that I had ever read. I wondered if I would ever finish the book before I died! It had a good lesson about not cheating because it only leads to bad things, but it was so boring! I wish that something exciting had happened.
The Worst Way to Pass a Test By on 2005-11-23
Jake, Sarah, Rob, Katie, and Dan are all involved in a scheme to get through mid-terms. When they're caught, everything comes crashing down on them. Jake is a kind of unpopular boy who is willing to do andything for the attention of Sarah. Sarah, the most pretty and popular girl in school, is living with her single mother. Her father no longer lives with them because he was caught cheating on her mother. Then there's Rob, who gets beat by his father and would do anything to get away. Katie, ex-best friend of Rob and current best friend of Sarah, is being accused of ratting out the cheaters. As for Dan he's dealing with a needy girlfriend and an overly easy going dad. So as they struggle with their lives, they deal with the consequences of cheating. This book will take you into the lives and points of views of these five eighth graders and will leave you wanting more.
- Overall, An Annoying Read

The story is about eighth grade students who a cheat on a Geography midterm. Dan, Rob, and Sarah all cheat on the test. Dan and Rob get off easy however, when they say Sarah gave them the test. Sarah isn't allowed off suspension until she turns in the person who gave her the test, Jake, who's nerdy. Also in the story is Kaitie, Sarah's best friend who decided to not cheat, Ruby, Dan's ex-girlfriend, and Jake, the boy who gave Sarah the test. The book is all in the different character's points of sviews. Reading Ruby's point of view was especially annoying since she wrote like this, "I was, like, doing this, like, and he was all, whatever. As if I care." I don't know anybody who uses like that much! Some people use it occasionally, but it's the main word in Ruby's vocabulary. Also annoying was Rob's point of view. He often used sentence fragments. I'm all for using sentence fragments sparingly to create an impact, but a whole page in sentence fragments is overkill. Sarah's point of view was usually the most tolerable, unless she started writing one word on one line, one word on the next line, to make herself seem more thoughtful and poetic. It didn't work. Dan's point of view wasn't annoying writing wise, but he was a very annoying, selfish, jock character. The best pages were the ones of Kaitie and Jake. Maybe if this book had been written differently I would've enjoyed it more, but still, the plot is weak. Not much happens, and I found the ending somewhat lame. Overall, it's not the most horrible book I read, but I am still very thankful it was one of my free books at the book fair. One more note, they talk about a calculus midterm. I'm in an advance math, and I'm not even in calculus, and believe me, these characters don't seem like they'd be in advance math. I don't know any eigth graders who take calculus!!!!
- Amazing Style!

The plot for this book isn't all that origanal or exciting in itself. A freind noticed what I was reading and asked, "Why on earth would you even look twice at a book like that? It's so..lame!" I asked myself the same question. The answer I came up with was this - it's not the plot that makes this book a great read, but the style. The way it's told from each of the characters and how each bit of information is only given at the last minute, makes it exciting, interesting and tense. Something so small turns into something huge before anyone knows it, even the reader. Wonderful book! I would recommend it to everyone who has ever been through highschool, because this is a very real issue

The Cheat
By Amy Goldman Koss
Imagine that you are studying really hard for a midterm. But you have no idea what you're studying and then out of the blue a sweet generous boy comes up to you and gives you the answers from the midterms. What would you do? Sarah Collier took the answers. Who wouldn't? I mean you are stuck studying and someone gives you the answers. NOT BAD. In the book The Cheat Sarah Collier gets the midterm answers from a nice boy, Jake. Sarah also shared the answers with some of her friends like Katie, Rob, and Dan.
Through this book you will travel to Sarah, Katie, Jake, Dan, Rob, and Ruby's thoughts and how they are involved with the cheat.
It's too bad that they got caught. I mean they had a perfect plan until Katie couldn't take lying so she gave in as in telling she cheated. After that there were only 3 other people that have cheated Sarah, Rob, and Dan.
The book is realistic fiction and it could happen to anyone. It takes place in a high school. The lesson is to show that it is very bad to cheat on midterm and what your consequences are going to be if you do. The characters are discussed in this book with detail, their personality, what their conflict is, and also their actions.
If you like books that you have to really guess what is going to happen and if you like books that have cliffhangers you better pick up The Cheat by Amy Goldman Koss. in my opinion I loved this book and I hope you do too.

This book is one of the most interesting books I have ever read!
The plot is basicly when Sarah a popular girl trys to get a not so popular boy Dan to get his older sisters midterm answers to a geography midterm they are going to be taking. In the mean time Sarah tells a few people about her having the answers so she gives the answers to them. Now the people that are cheating are Sarah, Ruby, Dan, Jake, Rob, and the mistery behind Katie. She had the answers but WHY didnt she use them? But when they got done with the test they relize that last years answers are NOT the same. So they all have the same answers but none are right! So they are getting in trouble and Sarah thinks Katie told because she didnt cheat but she didnt. So how does the teacher Mr.White and the principal Mr.Chen know about this? All of this happens in four days. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. And they all had a punisment except for one of them. Read the book and find out who!! I loved this book so much! I liked it because it was one of the books that i could relate to more than other books I have read and it was really funny too. I would recomend this book to any one! I it fun and it has A LOT of funny parts in it.
