Best Price: $6.95

You’ve been taught by teachers, now you can be MENTORED by a MILLIONAIRE!

When it comes to succeeding, there’s an infinite difference between being taught theories in school, and being mentored in specific skills and strategies by someone who has made tens of millions of dollars himself. Steve Scott was a corporate failure until he was mentored by a millionaire. Using the strategies he learned from his mentor, Steve became a multimillionaire entrepreneur who along with his partners built more than a dozen companies from scratch, achieving billions of dollars in sales. Now, step-by-step, he mentors readers in each of the master strategies that have enabled him and countless others to achieve their impossible dreams.

"The secret of Steve Scott’s wonderful book can be found in the title. These strategies work because you’re being mentored by someone from the front lines. This book will be forever around, helping, teaching–mentoring."
–Larry King, CNN, Larry King Live

"The splendidly organized wisdom in this book is made more attractive by the specific examples Scott uses. It is instantly clear to the reader that these techniques are within the reach of anyone, and this good news makes it a revelation."
–Hugh Downs, ABC News, 20/20 (ret.)

"I don’t remember whether Horatio Alger was ever cornered to write a book on how to succeed, but at least we have this fun and instructive book by young Mr. Scott. It deserves to be read widely, and my hope for it is that everyone who reads it will become a millionaire."
–William F. Buckley Jr., Founder, National Review

"UNBELIEVABLE! This book should be required reading for every man and woman in America. In this book, Steve Scott not only proves you and your family can achieve your ‘impossible dreams,’ he takes you by the hand and gives you the knowledge, confidence, and the power to achieve every one!"
–Chuck Norris

"Steve Scott has captured a very simple but powerful formula for translating one’s dreams into reality. The reason this book has so much credibility for me is that I have seen him implement these principles in his personal life to tremendous success–professionally, with his family, and in all aspects of his life. This is a must-read book."
–Hyrum W. Smith, Vice Chairman of the Board, The Franklin-Covey Company

"Steve Scott’s phenomenal track record for success in so many different endeavors shows that his principles are universally effective. In this book, he gives you a clear and concise road map to achieving more success than you would even think possible. If you follow it, you’re sure to get there."

  • OK, depends on what you are looking for

    By A372QPTZA3895G on 2005-11-12
This book is actually two subjects.

The first third of this book explains how the author rose above an early life of failures and mediocrity. The author met a mentor who emphasised respecting other employees, people, and profit sharing. This mentor was a business partner and their company ended up making millions.

The next two thirds of the book is about how to write infomercials since that is what the author does for a living.

The book is a very detailed personal account of his company, events, and infomercials. Some references to the bible.

For me there's not much new here since I've read plenty of motivation and advertising books. But let's say you had a bad start or want to learn about infomercials, this book may be suitable for you.

  • Trite and full of hubris

    By A7CJ4QYLK1DQJ on 2004-10-19
Although I had never heard of the author before, it only took a couple of pages to figure out that this book was written by someone in direct marketing. It has the tone of an infomercial.

I found it tiring to read, especially since the author used his own communications technique of "hooking" then "salting" and then using "emotional word pictures" to stretch a few simple concepts into a 273 page book. He should have abided by his own advice on page 107 which states, "too much salt is irritating and offensive." As is this book.

Wade through it and you will find good advice on finding a vision, communicating it and then acting upon it. But you will also be regaled with the author's incessant name dropping and immodest personal success stories. And by the end of the book you will be bombarded with the author's sermon of how you can be a better person (like him!).

All in all, it would make a nice 15-minute presentation. But if you read this kind of book, you've heard it all before anyway.

  • Great advise--too much about him.

    By AZM09BO1FD418 on 2006-01-27
Some time ago I read another book by Mr. Scott. I can't remember the title of the book, but I remember it being much the same as this one. He went on and on about his accomplishments; he went to school with Stephen Spielberg, held 9 unsuccessful jobs after graduating from college, wrote a successful screenplay (or something), and is now a successful primary partner in a major advertising company. It's great that he has had so many successes in his life, and I don't mind reading about it--once. To dwell on it in every book he writes gets a little annoying. On the other hand, he does offer a lot of great advise to readers; pointing out the fact that each and every one can accomplish equal feats. His writing style is entertaining. Though there are better books in this genre, I do recommend this book.

  • Well Worth the Time to Read

    By AK1LM34O1SS91 on 2006-01-16
This book is well written with good real world examples discussed from the author's own experiences of getting fired from a number of jobs and failed business startups, I believe eight, and eventually succeeding with a startup company on the next try with a partner/mentor. They start a media/advertising firm and reach success through infomercials. Not like most get rich quick books. Discusses important issues such as mentoring, developing strategic partnerships, and planning to reach your dreams through goal setting, planning, and tasks using a Porsche Carrera as an analogy. Stresses such items as that of good and persuasive communications with presentations/commercials using the techniques of "hooks", "salts", and closings etc.

The good thing about this book is that it discusses not how just how getting rich and financially independent should be our dreams but also explores things such as spiritual, and interpersonal relationships with your spouse, family members and people that you deal with every day are important. Uses quotes from the bible, i.e., Proverbs. So if you are an atheist this may be a little disappointing for you, but educational.

I like the book because the author's number one dream/goal is to get closer to God and become more spiritual (which should be everyone's number one goal), which makes a lot of sense, and probably puts most Americans in the high achievement group instead of the author's unsuccessful 97 percent category, since we are one of the most spiritual countries in the world.

A good conclusion, which flows naturally after reading this book, is not to seek fame and fortune but God first:

"..O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:30-33

  • Disappointing

    By A15T3JLK3E5A9G on 2006-02-08
I bought the book after seening an interview with the author on TV. Although the title is attractive to people in business but the book was very poorly written. I felt that he did not have much to say and the book has no real useful value. I guess he could have put everything he wanted to say in 15 or 20 pages only.

  • The Best Total Life Success Book out
    By A3BCMCIMZW2BEB on 2004-05-09
Finally, I have found what I have been looking for !!! I have read Kiyosaki, Anthony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy and all the other excellent writers on success and motivation but somehow, I have had problems "seeing and putting it all together" until now. The book has covered success and achievement in such an easy to comprehend way and covers stuff that is simply mind blowing. Thank you Steven K Scott - you have managed to do what the others could not do for me. I suppose the others just dealt with parts of success, you have addressed achievement in a wholistic way. A must, must read and I can not recommend this book highly enough to anyone looking to take it much higher than you ever dreamed. Steven is a great mentor and tells you how to get there. This book is life changing when acted upon.

  • Mentored by a Millionaire
    By A3VKCAAM9WU118 on 2004-11-09
Fortunately I saw Larry King's interview with Scott and decided to look it up on Amazon. Hugh Down's calling it a "revelation" motivated me to order it. I have read most of the self-help best-sellers on achievement, but I have never read a book like this one. Others, like 7 Habits give you great principles but don't really give you the skills or techniques you need to apply them to your daily life. Scott not only reveals his incredible strategies, he teaches you every necessary skill and technique to apply each strategy to the important areas of your life. This should not be called a self-help book, but a "how-to" book. While I really like it from a business perspective, my wife says she's more excited about using the skills in our marriage and with our kids. For the person that wants to achieve the extraordinary, this book is a no-brainer.

  • These Strategies & Skills Changed My Life!!!
    By A3NULDSO5QCV2Z on 2004-11-09
As an out of work single mother of r4 I began using the strategies in this book nearly as fast as I read them. They were as powerful and as easy to apply as Donald Trump said they would be in his review in the book's preface. I landed a job paying more money than I thought I was capable of earning and have already rec'd a raise. I applied the communication and relationship skills from the book and thankfully have recently married the man of my dreams. At 46, life is wonderful again. I feel like I know Steve personally because of the way he coaches you in each chapter. This book was given to me by a Christian businessman who said it would change everything if I followed it step by step. Boy was he right.

This work describes optimum strategies for identifying and
selecting successful mentors. A good mentor will have achieved
a modicum of success. He or she should be legitimate and it
doesn't hurt to dream big. The mind must be re-programmed to
aspire to greater things. Successful mentoring requires a
disciplined commitment and a carefully crafted strategy.
The potential candidate for a mentor should draw up the
strengths and weaknesses of the potential mentor. Many successful enterprises require partnering to complement individual efforts. A person who sets extraordinary goals should
be prepared to expend a great amount of time pursuing them.
Preparation is the key to achievement-particularly for difficult
or elusive goals. This work is a good prep guide for a small
business-person building an enterprise from scratch for the
first time. It directs the reader to important characteristics
of partners and mentors. These characteristics are the conditions
precedent to success for goals which are harder to achieve.
This book would make a good addition to the personal planning
    library.

  • teaches strategies and skills instead of hype
    By A2PV75042GH3X8 on 2006-02-18
Saw author's interview with Hugh Downs & Joan Lunden and bought the book the next day. Best self-help book i've ever read. Most are nothing but general principles & hype. Scott teaches specific strategies and skills that have already made a difference in my insurance business. Using his sales techniques, I've had a much better close ratio during the past 3 months. I wish I had this book ten years ago; i'd be a millionaire by now.

  • I have the DVD version
    By A2DXENZNO2JT4F on 2006-12-24
I enjoy reading but prefer multimedia learning. The DVD version of this book is being sold at $600 through his website. I found it on EBay for $177. Disappointed to see that the book is not included, but there is a workbook, an audio CD set, and a Vision Mapping organizer. After finding out that Scott is in the infomercial business, I became suspicious of whether this is just another hyped up self-help material. But, it turned out to be full of beef and little fluff. Scott is very down-to-earth and his teaching is very practicle.

After much thoughts, I am glad that Scott is an infomercial business man. Otherwise, we wouldn't have the opportunity to learn these strategies step by step because most super achievers wouldn't have the time and profitable reason to teach the general public how they made it there in such details.

This material has two qualities. First, it is taught by someone who has made it through these strategies. Second, it is put together by someone who only wants to sell products of highest quality. You can sense that this material is not put together just to make a sale, but to effectively benefit the user.

The "Vision Mapping" section alone is worth the money. I am a visionary person. For the dreams in the past, I would have achieved them better if I had applied these stategies, but it is never too late to apply them for the on going and future ones. I am buying the book for quick reference.

  • better than an MBA
    By A37G1807VFKH75 on 2005-12-07
Saw the author on Larry King Live and was blown away by his story. The strategies in this book are more powerful than ANY I was taught in my course study for my MBA. The specific skills he teaches are easy to apply yet incredibly powerful. One of my friends has increased his net worth from less than a million dollars to more than 7 million by following Scott's teaching on vision mapping and partnering. This book is not a typical cheerleading, motivational book...it's the most practical self-help book I've ever read.

  • Excellent Practical How-To Guide
    By A136TV5ZZ4QIHO on 2006-09-01
Unlike other Self-Improvement books out there that are principle oriented, this one adds practical techniques, and step by step instructions on how to accomplish whatever you are dreaming of. Includes important information you don't learn at the university. I'm planning to get copies for friends and family.

  • Everyone needs a mentor
    By on 2004-02-23
Steven K. Scott has written an excellent book. Actually this is more than a book, it reads like a series of one-on-one sessions with Scott himself.

I have the audio tape set he did for Nightingale-Conant as well.

Everyone needs a mentor and Steven Scott is outstanding. You will learn everything you need to know to reach your dreams. This is no ordinary book, it is an outstanding book. Must reading for all who want to reach their dreams.

  • The book vs dvd/cd product on tv
    By A3SDGI3K6MVSR7 on 2007-03-01
Just in case anyone was considering trying/purchasing the dvd program on tv, the book has the same info - beware. So, you can pay the $20-30 for the book and read the info yourself or you can pay $600 for the dvds/cds, journal and 2 workbooks and basically have him read it to you. Besides that, the 30 day trial offer actually expires in just under 30 days (calculated from when you are billed not from when you receive the product as the reps tell you). So you will be billed for the first installment within 30 days. Please be aware of that.

The info is decent but very little of it is something original. If you are brand new to the "how to be successful" quest then there is helpful info such as vision mapping and how-to's of communication. Otherwise, if you already know how to write detailed goals and communicate your ideas the material might be a good refresher for you - therefore put into practice what you already know.

  • Now YOU can make your dreams come true.
    By A39VKDG484JXXA on 2004-03-19
I am lucky to have the privilege of working with Steven in his latest business venture.

This book is truly amazing. Steven lays out step by step methods to help anyone succeed in whatever they set out to do. If you have to find a way to apply the principles in your life to truly benefit from the book. There are neat little excersises at the end of each session to help you do this.

Everyone needs a mentor to learn the tricks of success and Steven is one of the best out there.

  • Great but somewhat cheesy.
    By AK3V5FJIHVWS3 on 2005-09-04
The book is a little cheesy in that it constantly uses car analagies for everything, specifically the Porsche Carrera.
I have not finished the book yet, but I believe it will continue to be a great read, and I think I will benefit from reading it! This is another one of those books that everyone looking to learn and improve their lives should read.

  • Too much fluff !!
    By A1GI2QGHACLFP on 2006-12-31
This book can be reduced to 10 pages of truly readable content. rest in this
book is fluff. Please don't buy this book if you respect your time and money.

  • Looking for Mentor or Partner ??
    By A1WFB19YTLCSAI on 2007-01-04
Are you looking for Mentor or Partner? If so, then this book is decent read. Don't look for this book to be "how to get rich book". It's like many of the motivational books I've read, its one persons learning's from the specific path they chosen. In this book you'll see where Steve Scott focuses his energies on advertising via infomercials. Not an industry that most people are in, and or can relate to.
    But.
I still recommend this book. I like the way he details out the value of searching for and taking lessons from a "Mentor". I like the value he places on finding partners. Many entrepreneurial people think in terms of "I have to do it on my own". Steve talks to the pluses and minuses of that thinking and explains that you don't have to go at it alone. Would a good leader go alone, or would he build a great team?
I'd say if you are of an entrepreneurial mind set and you want to launch your business, you owe it to yourself to read it and take away the parts that apply to you. Let yourself learn that you don't have to do it alone and that you can learn from a Mentor and benefit from a partner.

  • Master Strategies
    By A1JC798UXT2JAO on 2007-01-11
I found this to be a good read and a great resource. The only criticism would be the Porsche references throughout the material; it seems out of place with the rest of the copy. If you can over look the "car thing" it is definitely worth the effort and the price. Keep in mind that the author isn't just a theorist making his living selling books or seminars; he is the "real-deal" generating revenue by marketing products in today's economy.

  • Fifteen sharp strategies for success
    By A1NATT3PN24QWY on 2007-03-16
Steven K. Scott takes a while to get to his message as he reiterates what he will present and how he struck it rich after failing in his first eight jobs. While his advice is good, if sometimes familiar, you have to be a bit patient to find it since his 15 sharp success strategies aren't always his chapter headings. He offers techniques for turning your personal vision into a reality, and includes numerous anecdotes about how famous historic figures achieved their goals. He also provides useful worksheets, comparison charts, summaries, definitions, steps, actions and goals. Scott tends to repeat examples and spotlight his own achievements, so this is a bit extended, but we find that his detailed case histories and solid counsel carry the day.

  • Scott can make you rich
    By AFJQ45XRB0TDT on 2007-02-17
Another great book by Scott. In this book Scott uses lessons from great like Thomas Edison and Ford to illustrate how persistent, singleness in purpose, and goal driven effort--applied to acquiring wealth--rules the day. I also recommend his book "Millionaire's notebook."

You may want to read similar books on creating wealth, such as "Think and Grow Rich," by Napoleon Hill and "The 17 Principles of Creating Wealth," by Phillip Collinsworth.

  • Vision Mapping Process Alone Is Worth It.
    By AIF8BI6D4TPQE on 2007-04-02
After reading this book, I decided to purchase the DVD and workbooks. The DVD's put the same information out as the book, but Steve Scott's workbooks in the DVD's are well worth the investment. I have done "vision mapping" a couple of times in my life and to accurately state it from my point of view, the process works. Suggest you read the book before investing in the DVD's. And if you invest in the DVD's you can get re-conditioned sets directly from Steve Scott's company on Ebay for less than half of full retail, which is what I did. The only serious criticism I have of this is Steve Scott's on-going running commentary using a Porche Carrera as an analogy for what doing the program can do for you gets old and is a bit corny. Then again, Steve Scott teaches you to thrive on criticism! Good stuff if you use it!

  • Timeless strategies that could be better written
    By A1DJH5DTLWF9SH on 2007-01-19
Is it just me or did he just rewrite another older book and give it a new name? While there are many classic lessons that he tries to teach that would be invaluable to anyone, his egocentric nature tends to discourage the reader. The book is as much of a biography of himself and his achievements and just how wonderfully rich and successful he is that it takes away from what actually are some worthwhile lessons and strategies that really have been used by many "super achievers" throughout at least modern times, if not history as he proclaims.
