Safe Harbor (Drake Sisters, Book 5)x$2.50
    (82 reviews)
Best Price: $7.99 $2.50
Feehan kicks off episode five of her popular Drake Sisters series -- concerning a septet of paranormally gifted sibs -- with everything her fans have come to expect: action, gunplay, danger, bad guys, good guys, gorgeous women and magic. All that's missing are her spicy love scenes; those come later, and their promise is enough to keep pages turning. On top of that promise, however, is the intriguing mystery of the supermodel slasher, who attacks shy-but-smoldering Hannah, one of the sisters, at New York's annual Fashion Week. Hunky Sheriff Jonas Harrington, a longtime family friend, is fresh from a life-threatening encounter with the Russian mob when he witnesses, on live TV, Hannah getting cut down by a madman with a knife. After the sisters rush to her side, saving her with their combined powers, Jonas vows to hunt down the assailant--but his unrequited love for Hannah complicates matters. This winning series entry is sure to please devotees and shouldn't provide much difficulty for curious newbies.

Finally Hannah and Jonas Story By A342BV4226SM5Y on 2007-06-28
I have waited for this book while we learned the stories of the first four sisters and this one is everything that I hoped it would be. Better than most of the others it is truly not just a romance but a tale of strengh, hope, and mystery.
Hannah is the #1 model in the world, not because she has ever wanted to be a model, but because she has felt the need to find something she does as well as the other sisters.
Jonas Harrington is not just sheriff of her hometown he has been in covert operations for our government until he became so burned out he came home to the Drakes. They are his family and have been since he was a child. He and Jackson have accepted one more small assignment that goes very wrong.
This time when he finally gets home he tells Hannah his feelings and she opens her heart and body to him. At the next fashion show she is attacked. He is totally wiped out by the attack on Hannah. He immediatly sets out to find who tried to kill her, the list is long and another attack on her happens at the hospital. Knowing there is a physcopath out there after her he is in full protective mode.
I very much enjoyed this book and could hardly put it down when I had too. The action is continuous and the interaction with the sisters is wonderful. You know there will be two more books, and I can hardly wait. Christine Feehan has grown as an author and her skills as a writer are improving with each of the novels in the Drake Sister and Ghostwalker series.
Summarize By ANB727EBM4LRS on 2007-06-29
Let's keep this simple:
Plot - Entirely too many things thrown in for a single book. Too many villians, too many subplots. I could follow the ideas, but got to the point where I really didn't care WHO did it. They were all terrible enemies, just pick one.
House - What's up with this? At the beginning of the Drake Sisters stories, we had 7 magical women, who had slight magic and telepathy, with a house who knew who their mates were. Now, we have a powerful killer house with 7 women who can do just about anything God can do. Talk about growing in strength. Geez.
Jonas - I liked him and his side of the story, but his character had changed from previous Drake books. He struck me as someone else. He was fine, but different, and for me it caused some jarring moments in the reading.
Hannah - Please. Whine, get better, whine, get better, whine....
Side characters - Excellent. Actually the side characters made the story worthwhile and did a great job of setting up the final two books in the Drake sisters story.
Bottom line - This was a good story that held my interest. It definitely wasn't a 5 star read, because the moment I finished the book, I tossed it in the garbage. However, it is worth the money, and it is good for a couple of days of reading.
Hannah and Jonas' exciting and touching story at last! By A3N61N91YEIZ47 on 2007-06-26
As I've been reading the Drake sisters books, I've been amused and puzzled by the interaction between Jonas Harrington, long-time Drake family friend, and Hannah, super beautiful, super model. Sometimes there was antagonism, sometimes sentiment and sometimes sparks. This book puts it all together and gives us the inside story in a way we might not have imagined!
The story begins with Jonas and Jackson Deveau out on a special covert assignment for the defense department that goes south. Jonas has been shot and they are trying to escape the Russian mob led by the Tarasov family. Joans mentally calls on Hannah to help them as they are trapped in an alleyway with no way out but up. Hannah calls wind, rain and is successfully in helping Jonas and Jackson escape although Jonas passes out. He comes to in a nearby ER with a doctor stitching his wounds and Jackson coming in to tell him the mob has sent more people after them and the film they made so they need to leave out the window and draw them away from the innocent people in the hospital. They leave in a hurry, call their supervisor, Duncan for help, and then need to hide out for a few days.
Hannah meanwhile is furious when she recovers from her magical efforts to save Jonas that a)he was endangering his life again when still recovering from a nearly mortal wound of a few weeks ago (read prior book "Dangerous Tides") and b) that Jonas never called to let her know he is okay or not. When Jonas finally does come to see Hannah, the sparks really do fly!!
As Hannah's life is threatened and Jonas reveals his true feelings, I could not put this book down until I finished it!! A truly exciting and suspenseful as well as sentimental and romantic story. The reader also gets better acquainted with another intriguing character, Illya Prakenskii, who is magical like the Drakes.
I can't wait for the next installment!! Highly recommended as one of the best Drake books yet!!
Edit, Edit, Edit By A8Y2722M436B7 on 2007-06-29
I was looking forward to--finally--getting Hannah and Jonas squared away. I liked the story and the character interaction was fine, but my goodness, did anybody edit this? There was a TREMENDOUS amount of repetition (not from previous books, but from repeating what had already been said, thought or discussed (IN GREAT DETAIL). And the thoughts and/or dialogue went ON and ON and ON. There is a lot of "author babble" that should have been removed to make this book flow and go. As it was, it stuttered and puttered for me. Was very boring at parts, page after page of sex scenes. Hey, I like some steam, but the operative word is SOME. EDIT, EDIT, EDIT. Finally, what a grammatical nightmare! One sentence that is 5 or more lines long! EGADS! "...the hunger, the need, the desire, the burning, intense...." GEEZE EDIT EDIT EDIT. P.s Could the print be any smaller??????? I had to put this book down MANY times because it just wore me flat out. What does it say about a book when you are 1/4 from the end and just want to get to the ending to move on? And, there was NO suspense whatsoever. I'm not going to spoil the plot, but come on, I saw right away where this was going and that's where it went.
What's with this trend? By AIPT7UIWKHUPX on 2007-06-28
Hate to disagree with my fellow Texan in San Antonio, but I agree with Midwest and "Anonymous." This book would be a good one to check out from the library or to purchase at a garage sale or used bookstore. I, too, put the book down and didn't read it in one sitting, as I usually do books by Ms. Feehan, Nora Roberts, Diana Palmer, Jill Shalvis, Lisa Marie Rice and so on.
Jonas is NOT the slightly irritating yet lovable guy we've met in previous Drake Sister books. In fact, I wonder why it is a lot of romance authors have forgotten what constitutes real romance. A man who is mean-spirited, pushy, and using the f-word all the time or in his more charming moments (?) telling people "Go to hell or shut the hell up!," doesn't make the grade as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, the Harlequin hero from the golden age of romance was, and sometimes still is, a bit arrogant or slightly cruel to the heroine, but it's usually due to a misunderstanding. Stress and the alpha-male personality can create some tension between characters, but in Safe Harbor this was over the top.
We had already met Jonas in previous books and he was likable and protective in a sweet, almost older brother way to all the Drakes. In this book, he bore more than a passing resemblance to the brothers of the latest two "Game" books; I'm glad someone else noticed that or I might have questioned my memory. This book just abandoned or rewrote a lot of the history of the Drakes. We've met a family of strong, magical women and in this one they were portrayed as having a pointless, argumentative tug-of-war with Jonas over Hannah, i.e. protecting her from him.
The sisters previously have enjoyed scenes where they had normal interaction with one another: teasing, brewing tea or otherwise nurturing one another, or visiting neighbors. This was sorely missing in "Safe Harbor." Hannah, in previous books, has had the gumption to tease Jonas, "steal" his hats and stick up for her sisters. In this one, she was a shrinking violet to say the least, even in the first third of the story.
Jonas shares a link with Hannah, yet he didn't realize she would encounter some, shall we say, challenges in NYC? And he and Sarah couldn't send her some mental message over their common path? This made little to no sense to me. Anyone else get that?
I'm with the others: please DO NOT mess up the chemistry, budding relationship between Joley and Ilyia.
Hate to say it, but I'll be trading in this book for credit and I have kept ALL the Carpathian books and the "Mind" books. Oughta serve as a signal to the editors that there's a problem brewing for the Drakes and this time it's not from without, it's from within. (Cue ominous music :)
- UGH!!!
     By A1DNRV8VKN1CV8 on 2007-07-02
I have waited for Hannah and Jonas's story but in this book the characters seemed detached and different from their characters in the previous books. How many pages of how beautiful she is and how lustfull and obsessed he is can you take. I didn't finish the book, just laid it on the pile I keep for when I have nothing else to read. (This one is on the bottom of the pile).
- Yet another Fantastic book from Ms. Feehan
     By A3AJTYKS51KT86 on 2007-06-27
Hannah Drake is a member of the Drake family. Women of the Drake family are beautiful inside and out who are gifted with special abilities. Hannah has the ability to call the wind to her aid, she is able to read peoples true intentions and thoughts with a touch and she is able to heal others. Hannah is also a super shy model who needs help from her family to have the strength to go out in public and to deal with people. She likes to please others and there only seems to be one person who knows her completely. That person is Jonas, an unofficial member of the family.
Jonas is the sheriff of the town that the Drake's live in and he has his hands full trying to keep the women safe. Jonas sees himself as their protector and has since he was young. Jonas has been in love with Hannah since the first time he saw her when he was a young boy. After years of working in the Rangers and for the Defence Department he has settled down as sheriff. When his former boss asks him for a favor Jonas goes and the situation goes horribly wrong and Jonas is injured again, he only makes it out alive thanks to Hannah's help. Jonas tells and shows Hannah how he truly feels and then he is left to watch in horror as she is attacked and nearly murdered on television.
I was waiting quite impatiently for Safe Harbor, which is the 5th book in the Drake Sister series, and Ms. Feehan again delivered a fantastic, well written book that made me laugh, cry and fan myself. An absolutely wonderful book that will be joining my "keep pile" and I will be waiting with baited breath for the next book in the series.

- Still good, but a bit tedious
     By ATX6US9X0OLC6 on 2007-06-27
I've stopped reading most of Feehan's novels because I've found them fairly predictable - although the first six or so were fantastic. I have picked up the Drake novels because I find the relationships, particularly between the sisters, to be really well portrayed. This novel was perhaps the best feature of all the sisters together for any long length of time, although those whom we've had more interaction with previously aren't quite so prominent this time. We get a lot from Joley and Elle, however.
I didn't dislike this book; the plot is decent - though you have a really good idea what's going on in the first three or four chapters, and in the middle of the book you want to thwack Jonas upside the head and tell him he's an idiot for overlooking the obvious.
My biggest problem came in the middle of the book. Hannah falls apart, Jonas gets frustrated, Hannah puts herself back together, Hannah falls apart. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. It is tedious and I actually put the book down several times in order to do other things simply because I was bored - and I never do that. I also had a strong urge to shake her; it was disturbing.
Nonethless, if you're a fan of the Drake sisters, it's worth picking up. Particularly for the interaction between Ilya and Joley, which is really great here. I hope Feehan doesn't make the same mistake with their book - which is to give too much too fast, having one character work through (and I use that term loosely, as it took approximately five pages) a 15 year block than prevented the couple from getting together, only to have the other character develop a complex that took the entire book to work out.
All in all, not my favorite read and one I probably won't reread (which I do all the time, particularly with Gaelen Foley, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Karen Marie Moning, etc.), but still a good few hours of entertainment.
- Best Drake Sisters Book so far!!!
     By A8MFL8HYO9FW on 2007-06-27
I've been reading and rereading the Drake series just waiting for Jonas and Hannah's story and Ms. Feehan did not disappoint!! I read this book in one sitting and I felt like in this book I was more engrossed and had to read EVERY single word. If I hadn't finished it at o-dark thirty early this morning - I would have immediately turned around and read it again. I love all the past books but this one is by far my favorite of them all. Now I just have to try and figure out how I'm gonna get through until Joley and Ilya's story!!!
- 4.5 stars...a great ending for Jonas and Hannah
     By A21QH2E3KFVMBM on 2007-07-05
The long awaited story of Jonas and Hannah will not disappoint.
After years of loving Hannah from afar, Jonas can't wait any longer to claim her for his own. After a final dangerous mission where he almost dies, Jonas returns to Sea Haven and the only woman who has ever held his heart. He doesn't realize the danger that he has brought right to the Drake's front door. What he does know is that he can't live without Hannah.
Hannah never thought she had a chance with Jonas. With major self-confidence issues, Hannah didn't think she was woman enough to hold a man like Jonas. It didn't matter that she was a world famous model. She didn't see the same thing when she looked in the mirror that everyone else did. After being railroaded into a career she didn't want, Hannah decides to take control of her life.
Then Hannah is brutally attacked live in t.v. Just moments away from death, help comes from an unexpected quarter. Jonas and all the Drakes rush to Hannah's side and each one tries to give Hannah something to hold onto. After being stabilized, Hannah returns to Sea Haven and the home she loves. It's after they get there that they all realize the danger to Hannah is far from over. Together, Jonas and Hannah must unravel the reason Hannah was attacked and who would continually try to come after her.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Hannah and Jonas. I thought Feehan did a good job of bringing the tension between the two to a climax. After four books, there is quite a build-up and Feehan did not disappoint.
- For the Texas
     By A38Q70EPJ3DQZR on 2007-06-28
I have to disagree with you on this book. Yes, it is different from all the drake sisters book so far, but you have to realize that the genre of romance writing have changed too and you have to either adapt to the change ( the cursing and eroticism) or choose something else you can handle.
Jonas had always disagreed and was very outspoken about his hatred(feelings) towards Hannah work. Why would you think he will go to NY with her. When you love someone, you are sometimes blinded by their need for you and your feelings toward them.
You wanted to know why Jonas and Sarah didn't telepathically warn Anna of the danger towards her. Well, she was very far. I don't think Feehan ever implied they could telepathically communicate when they are too far. Plus, Anna mentioned something about her power now working inside...maybe that's another reason why she couldn't cry for help either.
Why is Jonas different in this book? Well...Duh!!! it's his book and his time to act. Did you want him to be thesame way he was in the other books? In this book, you get to know what's in his mind and heart...Who he is. He is what we call an Alpha male...all manly and rough.
You have to realize that there is a reason why Jonas was made for Anna. You know he loves her and would never do anything to hurt her, but she is also different...her phobias. He has a way to conteract them and if that involves the way he speaks to her, well right on!!!
You may need to forget the next book..Jolie and IIYa's book because I have a feeling it will be rougher and darker than this one, but as long as the story is good and flows, am pretty sure I will enjoy reading it.
And forget about the picture on the cover; Feehan isn't the only author to do that. Or were you complaining about the similarities between Jonas and the Game books. Both books deal with Magic, telepathy, paranomal stuff. It is only normal that you will think her books are beginning to look and sound alike.
Now about the comment made about the drake sisters powers and house. Well, they may know of their power, but they never fully developed them until now, when they are needed. The house; Feehan had always written about the ability of the house to protect the sisters. Why would anyone think that it wouldn't do what is needed to assure their safety. Again, it never had to before until now. The level of danger determines what has to be done.
Apart from the jolt to the new eroticsm in a drake sister book...which I got over pretty quickly, this book is a gem..
- Couldn't Put It Down !
     By AMUFWTDP6XR9F on 2007-06-28
Ms Feehan continues this wonderful saga of the Drake sisters in the same fashion of her previous books. She captures you from the very first page, and you can't put the book down. Having 4 sisters, I was captivated from book 1 and eagerly awaited each and every story, as the family interaction and closeness of the sisters is depicted so realistically. I was not disappointed with the story of Hannah and Jonas. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised as the layers of their personalities were revealed, finding myself smiling, cheering, fearing for them, and (yes) tearing up. Ms. Feehan's ability to interweave the characters from previous books into each new installment is once again prevalent, and accomplished without slowing down the storyline.
I am particularly pleased with the ending of this particular book as compared to the previous ones. I finished the last page with a satisfied sigh, sighing only because now I'll have to wait another 15-18 months for Joley's story!
- i'm just not sure..........................
     By A1PAQCSDJRNXGC on 2007-06-29
what went wrong with this book for me. i think though that it was hannah. i found that, after a while, i really wanted to tell her to get on something for the bi-polar. i know she'd been thru an extreme trama. but after a while, the "now i'm fine, now i'm not" got on my nerves. at least jonas woke up and realized he'd better tell her he loved her(and act like it) before he she was gone forever. i don't regret buying or reading the book, but it's not the best.
- It's Finally Here!!!
     By A2LOEI9E1ERXKC on 2007-07-01
I've been waiting for Hannah & Jonas' book since the first Drake Sisters story I read. Well, Ms. Feehan does not disappoint! Whoa! All I can say is Whoa! I knew things were going to be hot between them, but I had no idea I was going to need to sit in front of the A/C while I read it. Of course the romance between them would be hot given the way they fought each other in the previous books. And it's not just the steamy bits, but the love the two of them have for each other. Anyone who has read any of the Drake Sisters stories knows Hannah & Jonas love each other, but who knew the depths of those feelings and how much they truly needed each other. We see a different side to Jonas and get more details on his relationship with all the Drakes, not just Hannah. And poor Hannah goes through a horrific experience but comes out of it stronger than before with the love of her sisters and her man.
There is a whole lot of action in this book. Gunfights, Russian mobsters, etc. And our favorite Russian, Prakenskii, is back in the mix and mixing things up for Joley. Can't wait for their book which I guess would be the next one. And Jackson speaks more in this book than all the previous books combined. Of course a lot of what he says is to criticize Elle, but you can tell Elle & Joley are going to have some interesting challenges on their hands with those dangerous men. I highly recommend this book to anyone who follows the series as well as those who love suspense & action, which this story has plenty.
- A huge disappointment
     By A2EZXAG5AOQF68 on 2007-08-01
What happened, Ms. Feehan?? This was the story I long awaited and found myself skimming the pages then throwing in the garbage. I loathe weak, whiny women and overly macho men. I was sorely disappointed. Hannah and Jonas were more loveable as secondary characters in previous stories. What a let down. I'm amazed Safe Harbor has as many positive reviews as it does as all of the people I've spoken with who've read the book all agree what a disappointment it was. It will be with much trepidation that I read the next in the series.
- Disappointing. I'd rate it at 3 1/2 if I could....
     By A1MSDFKKC8EYNV on 2007-06-28
Safe Harbor starts off with a bang but almost all of the action and conflict occur in the first third of the book. It felt almost like I started in the middle of a book, like I was missing something despite the fact that I've read all of the books several times. After the first third or so, both the relationship and the suspense plot stalled several times which made it a bit boring.
The interaction between Jonas and Hannah in other books has been like a lively rivalry but this book just didn't show the characters or the relationship and tension as seen previously. In fact, I didn't like Jonas or Hannah in this book. Jonas, in particular, wasn't the character I feel like we were introduced to previously. He actually resembled the Norton twins from her Ghostwalker series to me.
Also, there are several scenes & elements that are almost the same as scenes from the two most recent Ghostwalker books with only a few sentences added here and there.
Overall, I just felt like Safe Harbor was a big let-down with the exception of the the interaction between Joley and Ilya (who is obviously her mate). It's worth reading because it's part of the series but it's just not great.
- Action and Emotion.... Feehan does it again
     By A3FCMTJ0AWYTKI on 2007-06-29
When you hide your deepest secrets for so long, it is usually a long hard road to letting them go. Hannah and Jonas both struggle with the need to show a strong face to one and all, even, or should I say, especially to each other. The love that the two of them have for each other has been buried so deep for so many years it couldn't come to the surface easily. Ms Feehan makes the most of a complex situation, adding in the help of the sisters and yes sometime help is harmful, the vicious attack Jonas has to witness and the continuing attacks well,( I was spellbound during the attack on the senitient house...too cool ) it makes for very interesting scenes between Hannah and Jonas in SAFE HARBOR.
As always, Ms. Feehan's action scenes are intense, her characters emotions are deep and her sense of family and the strength uplifting.
While I first fell in love with Ms. Feehan's Carpathians I always count the days to a Drake books release. Not an Ozzie and Harriet sort of family, but one where laughter and an unconditional loyalty to each other always leaves me feeling good for days.
- Fantastic
     By A2SLBMWYAMBLIM on 2007-06-29
I was worried after Deadly Game, but Ms. Feehan did not disappoint with this one. I have waited for this one for a long time and I could not put it down. I have a feeling this one I will read over and over and over. I am a hopeless romantic and this one hit all the juicey spots. Heroin mad at guy, heroin gets hurt, man rushes to rescue. Lots of great new plot points thrown in this one. Can't wait for the next Drake Sisters novel.
- A real man!
     By AY3WOU6BXUX5M on 2007-07-28
While I am an avid fan of Christine this series is my least fave (I dont count Wild Rain) but I really really liked this book. It did, however, leave me (yet again) salivating more for Ilya and Joley than anything. Which is why I gave it a 3 instead of 4 stars.
This book really hit the ground running and you're sucked in at once. Other mentioned the middle lagged and flayed around some.
Personally I thought Jonas was one the most real men CF has writen in some time. He was so open and flawed and vulnerable in his desire for Hannah and a loving relationship I understood why he did and said the things that he did and I loved him for it. CF did a great job in exposing his inner turmoil to us. He was needy and dominant and lustful and loving and a jerk and more human than character. Then again I dont like PC pansy azzed Harlequin men either. I loved that Hannah could take him and push him right back at times. She was weaker in this book with him than she has been in the past. As a heroine I think she weak as well or writen that way. To me, Jonas was the focus.
The scenes with Joley and Ilya were worth the price of the book for me. The tension between them is almost tangible. Without going into detail I was literally sitting up in the bed at midnight so excited about his "help". That is one BAD MOFO!!!

I loved this book. I used to read 2-3 books a day during the summer, until I got sick 3 years ago. Since then it has become very difficult for me to read. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. However, I recommend All of Christine Feehan's books. She is probably the only author that gives me the opportunity to read and finish a book these days. I am anxiously awaiting the next book Christine. Please hurry.
- A great read!!

Words cannot describe how much I appreciate Mrs. Feehan's Books!
I love the whole series, but Safe Harbor is my absolute favorite so far!!
- Great set-up for joley's story
     By A1DW5IH6QCOFQ7 on 2007-07-02
I did enjoy this book, but I can definitely see (and I agree with) the short comings noted by other reviewers. But then again I think that Feehan's best writing is when she is doing short stories like Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters, Book 1), The Twilight Before Christmas (Drake Sisters, Book 2) andHot Blooded(dark hunger).
I expected the relationship between Jonas and Hannah to have a bit more sweetness, seeing that they have been part of each others lives for so long and have loved each other since childhood. I also agree that the Jonas and Hannah in this book weren't really the ones that we've seen throughout the rest of the series. After a four book build up, I was really looking forward to Jonas and Hannah finally getting their story, but it was glimpse's of Ilya that I found the most interesting part of this book. It even sent me back toOceans of Fire (Drake Sisters, Book 3) to read the parts that he was in. Can't wait 'til 2008.
If you like Feehan's writing style, with its inherent choppiness and tendacy toward being repetitious, you will like Safe Harbor too.
- Feehan's ship has come in!
     By AZW8CSBTEOK8U on 2007-07-02
The long awaited story of Jonas and Hannah is finally here!
Hannah is one of seven magical sisters and Jonas is a long-time family friend. The chemistry between these two has been hot from the start and Feehan delivers a very believable and loving relationship between these two characters.
Of course there's always action, adventure and danger around the corner for this beautiful and mysterious family.
When something horrific happens to Hannah the sisters must come together in order to save her. But, they can't save her from everything.
Many of the characters from previous Drake sister books are back to help, and foreshadowing for the next sister's books leaves the reader thirsty for more!
- Hannah and Jonas' Book was Worth the Wait
     By A32M15RZXWZ5GS on 2007-07-10
This book was wonderful. I have been waiting on Hannah and Jonas' book since 2003. Mrs. Feehan gave us different sides to these two well known characters and I was really impressed. Hannah, Supermodel, Sweet, Kind, Strong and Caring. Jonas, Sheriff/Ex-Army Ranger, Alpha to the Max, sexy and extremely compassionate. They worked so well together I was really impressed. The story is Heart-Wrenching, Heart-Stopping, Cruel, Sexy, Explosive and very, very touching. I cannot wait for Joley and Ilya's story. There are moments in this book that I cried so hard. The attack on Hannah was unbelievably cruel. I am so glad they finally found their HEA.
- Not what I expected but in a good way!!
     By A19FZ4V46U4K2F on 2007-07-26
First let's start off by saying, this book really isn't one that stands on its own. You have to know the history between Jonas & Hannah. If you do read it alone, it will definately come off that Jonas is a complete jerk to Hannah and the rest of the Drake family. And Hannah is a conceited, superficial twit. However reading the previous Drake books, you'll know that isn't the case at all. Now about the story in general. I loved it. The passion and the action and the adventure were awesome. The magic could've been upped a little but that's neither here nor there. I love how Feehan lays the ground work for the upcoming novel's of Joley & Elle, as she's done in her other books. I believe the only negative point about it was in the way she made Hannah a little on the weak side. Hannah's character in her other books wasn't displayed with so much frailty. She really gave as good as she got. Other than that, Feehan works her magic through the Drakes with aplomb. I highly recommend picking her up and getting lost in your imagination for a few hours.

Between her Game, Drake Sisters and Carpathian books, Christine is a force to be reckoned. In the lastest Drake Sister book, she excelled. I really love this book as it go deeper into Jonah and Hannah's story. I am anxiously awaiting all of Christine's next books. This is a must buy in my humble opinion.

This book is a complete waste of time. The story, if you can call it that, is lacking in content, reality, and does not flow. It drags thoughout. I read half of the book and dicarded it.
