Dinosaur's Binkitx$6.25
    (62 reviews)
Best Price: $6.25
Listen! Look! Touch! Giggle! Good night, Dinosaur. Good night, Binkit.
Sandra Boynton turns on the charm again in this story about a cuddly dino who refuses to go to bed until he (or she) has the right comfort object. A reflective silvery moon, some pull-out flaps, and a liftable bedspread with a reluctant hero hiding beneath it offer the very small reader a way into the story. The "Binkit" itself, a piece of soft yellow felt, can be stroked for reassurance. Reluctant bedtimers from one to three will enjoy this introduction to the idea of a bedtime routine that ends with comfort, closed eyes, and peace. (Baby to age 3)

Engaging and soothing By AAEMGV761LWIT on 2000-07-19
I started reading this book to my son when he was 7 months old and it was an instant hit. I catch him "reading" it on his own almost every day, going through the pages one by one and lifting the flaps to see what's underneath.I think the magic of Dinosaur's Binkit is that it's both exciting and soothing at the same time. The flaps with hidden pictures keep even young babies interested and yet the language is very rhythmic and soothing and, thus, great for a bedtime story. As an added plus, the flaps help babies develop eye-hand coordination and small motor skills as they figure out how to lift the flaps themselves. The only problem I've had with this book is getting my son to put it down. All in all, it's a triumph for introducing babies to the wonderful surprises books can hold.
Lots of fun but still calming enough for bedtime By AE6DWKHJRJ3LB on 2001-06-17
This book is a great combination of an "activity" book and a bedtime book. The lift-the-flap pages and the "touch-and-feel" pages are cute and fun. The flaps are creative - not the run of the mill predictable stuff under the flap. The rhythm of the story is calming and takes well to a quiet soothing voice, which makes this a "real" bedtime book. We have a number of other lift-the-flap or "touch-and-feel" books that we don't read before bed because they get my 14 month old daughter too excited, but this one has just the right balance of fun and calm. My daughter also loves the "teeth" in the toothbrushing page, which I consider a plus as we are teaching her to brush her teeth. This is one of my daughter's very favorite books, and she often goes to find it to "read" it to herself. Highly recommended. We will need to buy another copy soon, after only a few months, because our copy is read so often it is starting to wear out (not a comment about the quality of the book - just shows how often it is read).
very fun book for age newborns and up By A3ILWQV8JF8RKE on 1999-12-08
We started reading this book to my son when he was only a few weeks old. Now that he is seven months old he can express his delight with it. It's a good first book - it's only a few pages and has fun interaction (lift up flaps, soft touch spot). This book has been such a hit with my son that I recently ordered more Sandra Boynton books.
Pat the Binkit! By A18M68DE1Y6W51 on 2002-08-25
Poor Dinosaur. It's time for bed, but he cannot find his binkit, and we all know what THAT's like. On every page, he's told to get ready for bed, for he's single-mindedly looking for that binkit, and so are we. There are flaps to lift, paper doors to open...but no binkit.Of course, in the end, not only does Dinosaur find his beloved comfort object, but we get to know what it feels like, in the Pat the Bunny mode. It feels soft and comfy, just right for bedtime. My only tiny objection to this fabulous Boynton creation is that the paper flaps can be difficult for tiny fingers to open, and can also be torn easily. But even if they fall all the way off, the book remains irresistible.
no fail reading for kids By A311GMZ6651XNP on 2005-05-06
I have 3 boys and every one loved this book. It is the best book I have ever found for starting that all-important love of reading. Only 1 child had a "bink-it" but each one was captivated by this book at very early ages, usually 6mos and up.
I have been looking for something similiar in attraction ever since(okay, I'm going a little crazy after reading this 1,000 times or so!)
- Another Boynton favorite!
     By on 2001-04-22
I have been reading this to my daughter regularly (and not just at bedtime) since she was probably 4 months old. She is now 13 months and still enjoys lifting the flaps and the blanket to find the binkit. We give the dinosaur a squealy high pitched voice and she loves it! All of Sandra Boynton's books are winners, and this one is extra special because it is touch and feel as well as lift the flaps!
- A GREAT Book!

My 1 year old son loves this book. All I have to do is say the "Dinosaur's Binkit" and he runs to the bookshelf grabs his book and brings it to me to read. I like the story also.
- A nice book for little ones
     By A3HRRH17LDRV9S on 1999-01-22
Sandra Boynton's book, Dinosaur's Binkit is a sweet and short bedtime story. A dinosaur who is getting ready for bed can't find his "binkit". Little one's can lift flaps and touch the soft blanket. My son hear's "I want my binkit" and immediately picks up the book. It is easily becoming a family favorite.
- A big bedtime favorite!

Like all of Sandra Boynton's books, "Dinosaur's Binkit" is great fun to read aloud. It is a nice, soothing bedtime story with great illustrations and very amusing text. Young children will particularly enjoy the inter-active elements - pop ups, multi-media art - they give them a real chance to participate in the story. Boynton's the best!
- I need my Binkit
     By A2EEEBRKJAUXAR on 2005-08-03
My 2 year old granddaughter loves this book. She really enjoys lifting the flaps, especially looking under the bed. This book was a hit. She likes to sleep with it even.
- One of Boynton's best!
     By A3TLY2LWGRULDQ on 2006-02-13
On the very first page of this book, Dinosaur's agitation is evident as we find out that his binkit is missing. It's easy to feel for the little dinosaur, since his emotion is so visible.
The story of Dinosaur's Binkit is similar to that of an earlier book, Bunny Blue, but the storytelling is much simpler, so this is a quicker read and can hold a younger child's attention (plus, this book is still in print--an important bonus!). The soft portions of the book are nice for little hands to feel. I do agree with an earlier reviewer in that the paper flaps are relatively fragile, but that's the only problem I have with Dinosaur's Binkit. My one-year-old enjoyed playing with the blanket on Dinosaur's bed, and I love the pictures and the story. Recommended!
- Fisk jr loves this book
     By AVSYYWIDT5WTI on 2007-09-24
Funny and interactive: entertaining for parents too. Lots of tabs, and textures for kids to interact with with a fussy dinosaur as the star. Hopefully, Fisk jr is not learning how to be demanding from this cute story.
- Ben's Favorite?
     By on 2000-06-21
Our son loves all Boynton books but this is definitely one of his favorites. Even though he tore out one of the flip ups - he still laughs at the punch line. (And after a year of toddler abuse, the book is in much better shape than I would have expected...)
- A FAVORITE!
     By A27RBPCYBD55MX on 2000-06-20
This book is one of my 19-month old's favorites. It is quick to read and the touch and feel aspects invites your baby to participate! It includes one of bedtimes more challenging aspects, brushing teeth! The huge print encourages the reader to emphasize and put feeling into the dino's frustration at not having it's "binket." And it ends wonderfully!
- Way cool book
     By on 1999-01-22
This book was a *blast* - I almost didn't give it to my nephew... Seriously - a fast read for the short-attention-span set, with a cool dinosaur and fun little doors to open. As with any Boynton, the pictures are alive and expressive while simple and colorful. Absolutely delightful.
- I love this book.

I bought this book for my son and we both love it. So often his favorite book becomes one I have grown tired of. Not the case here!
- My 10 month-old daughter loved this book.

I had purchased several pop-up books and this one received the greatest response. It's a sweet story for bedtime or a quick read with your child.
- this book is great
     By on 1998-11-03
I love this book. I gave it to my nephew (he's 2) and he loves it too! The pictures hidden behind the flaps are surprising and funny. Most small children can relate to the Dinosaur who can't find his binkit at bedtime (adults can appreciate it as well). This is a book that adults won't have to dread reading it over and over again.
- We love this book
     By on 2002-01-26
My daughter's favorite. Sometimes its the only thing that can get her to calm down for bedtime. She loves to find the dinosaur on the page and touch the different blankets. Great book.
- This is a really cute book.

I like all of Sandra Boynton's books and this one is no exception. It has great characters, is bright and colorful, and has fun stuff to touch. My daughter loves it and I highly recommend it!
- Wonderful book
     By A39HQMUQURMA38 on 2004-02-18
This one of the most special children's books I have ever read. Almost every night, my 2 yo twins go to sleep with the sounds of "Where's my binkit!?" The girl twin refuses to go to bed unless she has it. BTW, we are on our second copy of it now...
- Astounding call for moderation
     By AEG267KPH6AOI on 2005-02-17
Boynton's musical rhymes have a magnetic, mesmorizing rhythm that transcends age, gender and cultural paradigms to coalesce the essensial and mystical nature of sleep. Why do we sleep? When do we sleep? With whom? Should we wait until marriage to sleep with our partner? All these questions underly the deceptively innocent structure of this book to create a provocative work of compounded interest.
- A bedtime favorite!
     By ALQOPYIKNZEZY on 2005-04-25
I love Sandra Boynton's work. They are just as much fun for me to read aloud as they are for my son to listen to. This book is currently a favorite for my 9-month old son at bedtime. As soon as I bring the book out and put it in front of us to read, he smiles and reaches for the cover to touch the "binkit". He loves to lift the flaps, and Dinosaur makes him smile.
- Great bedtime book

Another wonderful book from Sandra Boynton. My 23 month old just received this book and loves it. She likes the touch and feel aspect and also the lift the flaps. My daughter is extremely attached to her blanket, so I thought she would relate to this book. Every night before bed, we have to search for blanket, just like the dinosaur does in the book. Dinosaur is told to go to bed, but all he wants is his "binkit". Of course in the end he finds his "binkit" and goes to bed. A good interactive book for your little one. A nice soothing book before bedtime. Great illustrations as always.
- A new favorite
     By A1K7QJ1LHAY99B on 2006-02-20
My 16 month old loves dinosaurs and we've been trying to introduce him to Sandra Boynton. So when we found this book at the library we checked it out - again and again and again.... Our son loves this book so much he now requests it and all his other Sandra Boynton books several times a day. And what isn't to like about a dinosaur who has lost his lovey? Even better my husband discovered that the text can easily be sung to the tune of "O, Christmas Tree." Now we cannot read the book. We must sing it instead. We too, have found the flaps slightly fragile, but no more fragile than flaps on any other pop-up type book. We just have to tell our son to be gentle and respect books. Some days it works and some days it doesn't. I think that's just parenthood and childhood.
- Everyone loves a binkit!
     By A153RFE2M9LWIY on 2006-07-21
My daughter loves this unique lift the flap book. It has the typical Boynton humour we have all come to expect and I'd definitely recommend it to one and all!
- Love this cute book

My son loves this book and likes to feel the different textures of this book. Good for toddlers
- Great book
     By A2GCMHRH2S0QBS on 2008-01-02
Sandra Boynton did it again with this book! On each page there are interactive things for the child to do such as look in a mirror, open a flap, or lift a blanket. My 15 month old son has been reading this book every night before bed since he was one and just adores it. I have all of Sandra Boynton's books, but by far this is my favorite. A great bedtime story for young children.
- Another great Boynton, but very poor quality construction
     By A6W2RTCU5SW9B on 2008-07-22
Boynton writes the best children books, but the quality of this one is poor. We receive the book and it had parts missing (notably, the "Binkit" on the last page was missing and glue was exposed). We exchanged it for another, and the replaced one also had problems (the red blanket in the middle of the book had stained the another page - and not a small stain). If you are willing to accept the poor quality of the construction of the book, then get it because it is a pretty good story.
- Toddler's favorite
     By on 2000-05-10
My 21-month-old could really relate to this book because she has a "little bankie" that she sleeps with. She usually gets bored with lift-the flap books after a few times, but she's been carrying this one around with her all week.
