Best Price: $21.95 $13.41

The thinking's not fuzzy in these board books, but the animals certainly are. Sandra Boynton's familiar furry creatures introduce simple concepts in this bright collection of four books, replete with clever line drawings. In Horns and Toes and In Between, three horned monsters teach the parts of the body in rhyme: "...and we have a fuzzy TUMMY that we all like to pat / and a little BELLY BUTTON in the middle of that." The Going to Bed Book gets a Noah's Ark of animals organized for bed: "They hang their towels on the wall / and find pajamas, big and small." Opposites is just that: cute animals "high and low / fast and slow / heavy and light / day and night." In the rhyming reader But Not the Hippopotamus, a hippo finds himself on the outs as "a cat and two rats are trying on hats. / But not the hippopotamus. / A moose and a goose together have juice. / But not the hippopotamus." Rest assured the hippo finds love at the end. (Baby to preschool) --Claire Dederer

  • Absolutely Terrific!

    By A3BJKK369SR7X3 on 1999-11-05
I think that these books are absolutely wonderful. My 1 yr old son has such an interest in these books and we read them over & over. They are so easy to memorize for rides in the car too! My son has not found a book by Sandra Boynton that he does not love, as a matter of fact, me too!

  • Excellent books for 0 - 3

    By A2RNUPVSNW1ZXX on 2001-11-28
These four books are all very good! My 15 month old loves them now as much as she did when she was first born. In fact, Boynton books are the only books she likes now in her active toddler stage. They are the only books she will sit still for, and I have over 100 books for her to choose from! They all have cute, short, catchy rhymes that are fun to listen to and read. The colors are very bright and the animals/creatures are really cute! Her favorite is The Going To Bed Book amoung these four, but she likes them all very much.

  • Get these four and you'll still want more!

    By A3HZY4QLFYDXE0 on 2005-02-06
These were among the first books we bought for our son, who is now one year old. We like them so much we ended up buying the other box set, too. And some other Boynton books as well.

Sandra Boynton's books have a terrific rhythm to them that makes them fun to read. "The Going to Bed Book" was an immediate hit with my husband because it's fun -- a great bedtime story, but not as sappy as classics like "I Love You as Much." The other three titles in this collection score just as well with our son and with us.

What I love is how these books work on several levels. For the youngest readers, they present eye-catching illustration and simple rhymes. As the child gets older, the books have larger lessons to teach, from the concept of "Opposites" to the deeper, more poignant message of "But Not the Hippopotamus," the tale of a hippo who's left out of all the fun until the other animals finally invite her to join in.

If you're asking yourself whether you really need FOUR titles by Sandra Boynton, well, at least for us, four was only the beginning. So take advantage of the low price of buying them as a set.

  • All Wonderful

They are all wonderful books. I enjoy reading them which is the most important thing since my son is not yet into books. I'm sure he will love these when he is.

  • Boynton's Greatest Hits: Volume II

    By A2ZK5KJHTH43DY on 2001-08-27
These are must buy books for the kids!!. The books are great. I've never bought Boynton's books before and after having this volume : The Going to Bed Book, But Not the Hippotamus, Opposites, Horns to Toes; I must say that I am going to get more of Sandra Byonton's books. The rhymes are short and simple but nice and I think this is important for infants as their attention span is pretty short. The illustrations are wonderful and kids won't go tired of them forever as they are cartoon characters. My 8 month old daughter seems to enjoy listening to the rhymes and looking at the pictures as I enjoy reading the books to her. Get these volume now.....I really recommend them.

  • My daughter's favorites!
    By A1VU11QSQ4ZJLR on 2003-09-23
When I first got this group of books (and also the other set), it didn't hold my daughter's attention. She was still just a baby, so I'm assuming the pictures didn't thrill her. Then she turned 18 months... In the last three months I think I've read each of these books at least twice a day. I know them by heart and she does too. In fact she sleeps with a couple every night!

  • Love these from our horns to our toes!
    By A375ZZTRRLXR7G on 2000-07-12
My daughter and I love these books, very clever and fun, thick pages that are fun to turn, chew on, and wave, a side benefit: after a zillion readings you can recite most of them from memory so you can entertain your child without the book

  • The Going to Bed Book
    By on 2000-09-29
This book is fantastic. My 4 year old daughter has this book memorized. My 1 year old knows the very last sentence. In fact everytime we sitdown to read this book, my four year old recites the book and my 1 year old turns the pages. We have come up with a fun way to end the book and that is to rock back and forth. The girls simply love it! Sandra Boynton is a wonderful author!

  • great books
    By A2D15TO9UXWWUC on 2003-01-01
Our two year old loves Sandra Boynton books and we enjoy reading them to him. Great books.

  • Simply essential for every well-read infant.
    By ABVHEG3RWOGOF on 2003-08-03
I think "The Going to Bed Book" is the best night-night book ever written. "But Not the Hippopotamus" is a tear-jerker - "But YES the hippopotamus!" - and "Horns to Toes" is a rockin' good book to sing, rather than read. Sandra Boynton is wonderful; I want her to come to my house and hang out. In the meantime, I'll settle for reading these books to my kids and making sure that every baby *I* know has them in his library.

  • All time favorite!
    By A2N5IRY6FAB5GV on 2006-11-04
These are a wonderful set of books, my grandson (2) loves to have them all read to him when he visits. Solidly constructed with fun graphics that can be part of learning ("Look at his red balloon").

  • Entertaining
    By A3HNXE7XF3W9NS on 2005-08-02
My toddler loves these books, and picks Boynton's books over many other choices. Her favorite is But Not the Hippopotamus. She has the book memorized, and is very animated when we read the book together.

  • A 'must have' collection
    By A2OSE044FUFPIW on 2005-10-21
We read "The Going to Bed Book" to our daughter every night. Right now she enjoys the clever and fun illustrations, but once she's speaking we expect frequent requests for it to be re-read that same night. All of these are great books. I frequently give "But Not the Hippopotamus" as a gift to other small children as because it's always a hit.

  • Great books for every child!!!

  • Boynton Books Big Hit
    By A2Y58Z3JVD4FJ3 on 2007-01-16
My 3-year-old son loves all of her books, and my infant enjoys listening to the silliness and looking at the colorful pictures.

  • Great Collection of Books!
    By A4DL08YU6ZB8G on 2007-01-19
This is a great collection of books. The are rather short, but just right for my two year old, he loves them. You know you won't be disappointed when purchasing a Sandra Boynton book.

  • Still funny the 23rd time in a row
    By A2NDXE348D4STR on 2007-01-31
After your toddler learns the word "again," you'll develop a whole new appreciation for Sandra Boynton.

  • Fantastic!
    By AREIFOBLS4SBC on 2007-02-13
My daughter and I love these books. She is 7 months old and mostly tries to eat them but loves the pictures and how much fun I have reading them.

  • I love these books!
    By A31AMOKDPOA4U4 on 2006-02-08
These books are so great! Sandra Boynton is such a great author! Her pictures and rhymes are just so silly and fun. My son always wants us to read the stories over and over again. I love these boxed sets. They're a great deal. The books are fun and educational. My son has learned a lot from these books, especially Opposites and Horns to Toes.

  • Adorable Collection, But Add the Best Too!
    By A1BM65DFDV0K6N on 2006-03-16
This is a darling collection of Boynton books - but these aren't the best. Make sure you get Pajama Time & The Belly Button Book. Our daughter enjoys those the most & they translate into fun songs to sing better than any books from this collection. However, if you're already a Boynton fan, you won't be disappointed in this collection.

  • What's Not To Love?
    By AVHN134ADVP4R on 2006-03-16
Boynton writes witty, memorable books that are short enough to captivate our 10 month old daughter. She loves these books, and her parents admit we like them also. We have about 30 of them now (or so it seems), and if we scatter a few books around her, she usually reaches for a Boyton book and is at full attention while we read it!

  • Boynton Books are Best
    By A30H2335OM7RD6 on 2006-06-01
These books are great for the 0-3 age group. They have cute little animals that are likable and just look like they would be fun to know in person. The books are short with catchy rhymes. They are easy to read and easy to memorize. For those with a short attention span, like the active toddler age, these books are perfect.

And these four are just adorable. They fit right in with all of the other Boynton books- cute, easy to read, catchy rhymes, fun.

My personal favorite is "Not the Hippopotamus".

    Enjoy. Worth the money.

  • great for under two
    By A1TUIQJP4RAMTW on 2006-07-07
I bought these books for my daughter and she just loves them. Plus, they're so easy for her to handle since they are board books. She loves to just sit in her chair and "read" them by herself too.

  • great value
    By A106EPSNHGFRFP on 2006-11-02
All four stories are amusing, especially The Going to Bed Book. Great value when you buy in bulk, but only if you like Boynton's works.

  • Great for toddlers-early reader!
    By AB3SH91VEVOLF on 2006-11-17
Great Collection. Also recommend Dinosaurs Binkit which was all my kids most read & loved book.

  • Delightful
    By ACP4T2DOT563T on 2007-01-31
Any age will find enjoyment in these books. You just need a
good sense of humor and want to be forever young.

  • So fun to read!
    By A2CW2QVAVYGA8G on 2007-02-28
This along with Boynton's Volume I are a must have. If your children are like mine, you'll be reading them OVER and OVER and OVER. These are fun for you to read and fun for your child to listen to. The Going to Bed Book and But Not the Hippopotamus are my favorites in this collection. It's also a great value to get them all at once - less shipping than buying books one at a time!!

  • Love Reading This To Our Baby
    By A1GT8LITRW9L30 on 2007-03-08
Fun books with great illustrations! The words easily flow off your lips and rhyme well so can be sung even, how good the singing sounds is a different story...

  • Love this set!
    By AP7A0Y68ONIDJ on 2007-03-29
I purchased this set for my 10 month old daughter. They are sturdy board books, beautifully illustrated with fun, rhythmic text. The hippo book is our absolute favorite. Highly recommended!!

  • Boynton's Books
    By AO63MVQOJH8KI on 2007-07-16
I bought these books and a 'horned'stuffed animal for a baby shower gift. I like to give books for little ones. They don't out grow them right away. Always been a fan of this author. Very funny and cute pictures.
