My name is Robin.

This book is about me.

It tells the story of what happens

when after almost 15 pathetic years of loserdom,

the girl of my dreams finally falls for me.

That seems like it would be

a good thing, right?

Only it turns out to be

a lot more complicated than that

Because I'm not gonna lie to you --

there are naked women involved.

Four of them, to be exact.

Though not in the way you might think.

Don't get me wrong -- my girlfriend's amazing.

But the way things have been going lately,

I'm starting to believe that the only thing worse

than not getting what you want,

is getting it.

Robin Murphy is a fourteen-year-old boy that's not very lucky in life. Besides being an excellent artist Robin is a...nerd. As in a nerd that's name is used as a diss like: "Dude, you are SUCH a Murphy." Something like that is done whenever anybody does anything stupid, silly, gullible, or just idiotic! His luck is found when he meets Sophie Stein (as seen in 'What my mother doesn't know'). They're perfect for eachother and they fall in love.
Their relationship doesn't sit well with any of the other students and even Sophie's two best friends abandon her for being with Robin. But together they have to stick together, put on a pair of interesting T-shirts, give Dillan (Sophies ex-boyfriend) lice, and figure out what's truly important to them.

As usual Sonya Sones has created another heart warming novel that's fun, humorous, realistic and enjoyable! To top that off it's written well in poetry format with really makes it fun! Try this book out!

    Happy Reading!

    This book was amazing.
I got it out of the library this morning and I already finished it.
It's a quick read. all in poems.
    but it's so powerful.
I was just left with this uplifted happy feeling when I finished.
but it is not a fairy tale kind of book, it's a real story & you must go read it.

    like now.

and get What My Mother Doesn't Know while you're at it.
    they have the same characters.

Sonya Sones, well-known for her novels in verse, has written a sequel to What My Mother Doesn't Know. The sequel continues to follow the unlikely relationship between Robin and Sophie.

Robin Murphy is still amazed that the beautiful and popular Sophie Stein is actually his girlfriend. They are getting closer by the minute. Their great conversations are turning into some equally great make-out sessions, and Robin's mind is spinning 24/7.

Now that their relationship is out in the open, Robin and Sophie are noticing the reactions of those around them. Sophie's best-friends-forever are stopping her to question her sanity. They are openly asking her why she's spending time with a dweeb like Robin. All it seems to do is further cement their feelings for one another.

Adding an extra boost of confidence for Robin is the invitation to audit a college drawing class at Harvard. How many high school freshmen get a chance to sit in on a college-level art class? Robin is nervous as he enters the classroom the first night. His nervousness goes off the charts when he discovers the figures he'll be drawing are real, live, nude models. Concentrate on drawing when there's a gorgeous, naked woman mere feet in front of him?

Unaware of Robin's actual age, the college students admire his drawing skill and begin to involve him in their after class plans. These new friends and their honest acceptance are great confidence builders for Robin. But after each college class, he must return to the high school scene and reality the following day.

Fun, fast, and full of surprises, Sonya Sones has another hit with WHAT MY GIRLFRIEND DOESN'T KNOW. If you liked the first book, be ready for a long waiting list at your local library when word gets out about this one.

I am thirteen years old, and I read What My Mother Doesn't Know, by Sonya Sones, and I thought it was so amazing! But now I just read this new book What My Girlfriend Doesn't Know, and I think it's even better! It is my new favorite book. It is so really fast to read. And the story made me cry at the end, because the characters are so awesome and I could totally relate to them! Everyone should read this book! I loved it, and I told all my friends about it and they borrowed my copy and they love it too! I love Sonya Sones, she should write more about Sophie and Robin!!

I was waiting for this book ever since I heard Sonya Sones was making a sequel to What My Mother Doesn't Know. When i read it, couldn't put it down. Hearing Murphy's side of the story made feel for him. This book is a great read and I encourage anyone to read it. You'll finish it in one reading, and it'll make you crave for more. I still want to know what happens afterwards.

This is just as good as What My Mother Doesn't Know, if not better. (Don't read this without reading WMMDK, it'll make sense, but it won't be nearly as good) This book is from Robin/Murphy's point of view, and its really sweet. You should get it!

  • Great sequel

I loved What My Mother Doesn't Know and have been anxiously awaiting the sequel. I was not disappointed at all. Sones again captured all the excitement and confusion of young adult love that I so appreicated in What My Mother Doesn't Know. I was thrilled that this title was written in the male voice. What My Girlfriend Doesn't Know is a great title for young adult readers who like a romance story with more to it than just the romance.

  • absolutely disgusting!!!

am appalled that this book is even in print and more so that it is not held behind the counter with a cover over it. Of course young girls and teens would love this book, it is all about sex, kissing, arranging alone time while parents are not present even it is only for 30 minutes. this is utter trash. A glorified sex movie in print. And it received awards??!!! This is set up in a poetry form but is far from it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! My daughter had this book hidden in her nightstand for obviously reasons. My feeling is, if it is not suitable for dinner table discussions then it is not suitable at all.

Sonya Sones is another fantastic author. She writes in poems, so her books are always really fast. I couldn't even put this one down for more than 30 seconds, I was that hooked. It's interesting for me to read a Sonya Sones book from a guy's perspective, and I think I might have liked it just as much or more as I liked the others. Something about Robin is just so compelling... he is one of the most interesting and funny guy characters I've ever read about.

This is the sequel to What My Mother Doesn't Know, and if you are looking for a funny and not so deep read, pick up both of these books. They are beyond excellent, and I know you won't regret it.

This book is the sequel to "What My Mother Doesn't Know." It continues the story of Sophie and Robin (aka Murphy). This book, however, is told from ROBIN'S point of view, instead of Sophie's! And, in my humble opinion, this book is WAY BETTER than the first one!

The book is AMAZING. Rarely do we have stories like this told from a guy's point of view, but Sonya Sones pulles it off magnificently. The book is hot, sexy, and fun at times, but also sad, lonely, and wistful at others. It's a rollercoaster of a read.

The book is told in poems and it goes very fast...I read it in less than two hours last night. Definitely check it out, especially if you liked "What My Mother Doesn't Know." You'll be completely blown away!

  • Great Way to Motivate My Teen TO READ!!!!!
    By A2VZGBFENVAJDS on 2007-12-18
Sonya Sones has an incredible style of writing. Her topics are right on target and she seems to relate to teens. My teen loves her books and can not put them down. She read this one in 1/2 a day and can't wait for the next book to come out.

Great books for teens and a great way to motivate your teen to read without them knowing it.

  • BEST BOOK EVERR!! : )

Robin Murphy's luck has started to change. He has always been known as the school loser, "Murphy." Well he is finally getting to see the brighter side of life in Sonya Sones new book, What My Girlfriend Doesnt Know, the sequal to What My Mother Doesnt Know. Sophie, a beautiful and popular girl, has become his girlfriend over the winter break. He's had two glorious weeks of being by her side. And it looks like the magic may just continue because on their first day back at school..She chooses him over her friends in the crowded cafeteria!! Then another great opportunity is handed to him. He is chosen to be part of a special group of high school artists to audit a college-level art class taught at Harvard! Suddenly, Robin is transformed. He's no longer "Murphy" The total dork and loser--he's a talented and respected artist. His classmates like him and include him. He's part of something. It feels wonderful to share his talent each week even if it is only for a few hours. It gives him hope that there is life outside of high school that can be welcoming and inclusive. But theres a problem. While Murphy is spending time thinking about colledge and art school, Sophie starts to become friends with Rachel and Grace again..FINALLY! But with all of Murphys extra curricular activities going on and Sophie spending more and more time catching up with Rachel and Grace, they are separating..and getting into more and more fights. This is an EXELENT book! I highly recomend it to everyone but mostly people who like cute and romantic books. If you have read the Click series or Gossip Girls, then this book is just as good if not better! : )

  • All About "What My Girlfriend Doesn't Know"
    By on 2008-02-28
"Whirling around in the spot where my heart used to be. All I want to do is run away, run as far away from here as I can get. But I force my legs to carry me toward Sophie instead. A second later, when we're standing face to face. and I'm looking into those heartbreakingly blue eyes of hers, I know, beyond a shadow of doubt, that Sophie saw everything." This passage is found in Sonya Sones novel called "What My Girlfriend Doesn't Know", a realistic fictional novel that is hard to put down. This story is about a boy named Robin Murphy who lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts during the cold winter based in present day. Robin has an amazing girlfriend named Sophie Stein and you could say they were starting to really love each other. But there was a problem. Sophie came from popularity and beauty and Robin was a joke to everyone, that's how he got his nickname Murphy. Once the kids at school started seeing that Sophie and Robin were together everyone started to treat her different. Her friends left her and her popularity went down the drain. Robin knew this was all his fault but didn't get why people looked down on him as if he were nothing. But once Robin starts an art class at Harvard and sees that he is just like any other student and that people liked him maybe this college life could actually work out for him. But what happens when the life your trying to hide takes a turn to reality? I think the theme of this novel is Murphy vs. Robin's life. I think this is the theme because the novel is mostly about how both of the lives he is living changes him as a person and who he really becomes in the end. I thought "What My Girlfriend Doesn't Know", was a novel that showed real courage and appreciation for someone special to you. I thought that was shown on page 13 of this novel. "But when I try to let go of her hand, so that people won't know we're together- she won't let me." Also, I found this novel very unexpecting and sad for Sophie. This passage on page 260 made me feel this way. "I want it all. And I should be able to have it all, shouldn't I? Because Tessa knows about Sophie, and she doesn't mind. And Sophie doesn't know about Tessa, so she doesn't mind either." I mostly recommend this novel for girls who are 13 or older. Sonya Sones in my opinion is a fantastic author who wrote this novel with humor, love, adventure, and sadness. The sequal to this book "What My Mother Doesn't Know", fits right in with this novel. This book made me realize that its not worth changing for people who don't even matter in the first place and also that you should always be proud of who you are.
