An AWESOME book for new coaches By A1QMNUKRX6HTXJ on 2000-05-19
A very informative book for new coaches or as a refresher for more established coaches. Covers alot of organizational information regarding cheerleading practices, try-outs and how-to's for starting a new program. I also used this book to inform parents and school board officials on establishing a school program. No coach should be without this book!
The best book available for cheerleading coaches! By on 1999-06-08
This book is recommended for cheerleading coaches at all levels. It covers planning practices, motivating your squad, dealing with parents and other "coach" type stuff that other books do not even mention. Since cheerleading is a hands-on sport, you'll need to obtain other instruction on how to perform jumps, stunts and dances. If you are a coach, you'll like this book.
Great Basic Reference manual By on 2000-03-21
As a first year coach, I found this book to be highly resourceful and I refer to it often. From organizing practice to try outs, it also helped to prepare me for some parents' point of views. I would highly recommend this book for everyone's library. When will the sequel be out? I would like to see one on stunts, cheers, competitions & camps, and choreography. Thanks for a great book.
This is perfect for beginners as well as long time coaches! By A2FQ66EB2EGIV5 on 2001-08-07
I enjoyed this book! I use it with every turn in cheerleading coaching. I have been coaching for the last 11 years and this is one of the best resources that I have come across. I use this for both my All Star Team as well as my Varsity High School Team. This is perfect for the coach or advisor, however I would not suggest this book be viewed by the cheerleaders. This would confused them more than what they are already when any season starts. Coaches get your hands on this one!
Great for New and Old Cheerleading Coaches. By on 1999-08-07
I thought this book gave great ideas that all cheerleading squads could use. Although I did'nt like that the stunting pictures were all of very basic stunts and that they showed drawings of the jumps instead of real pictures.
- Coaching Cheerleading Successfully
     By AYLPMX2EFQGPM on 2002-12-18
I recommend this book to anyone interested in coaching or advising cheer. One of the best purchases I have ever made, and I bought one for my entire coaching staff. I also run a training website and discussion group and constantly urge my visitors and participants to buy this great resource for coaches of today. A true cheerleading must-have!
- Great for a first-time coach, but
     By A1FG4UIZZWDRQE on 2004-12-31
A must-have for all coaches. There are a fair variety of motions and jumps depicted, but they are drawings rather than photographs. Also, there is no visual depiction of how to prep for a jump, and this book starts you off with a thigh stand instead of stag stunts but there are stunt variations here not shown in "The Offical Cheerleaders Handbook" or "The Ultimate Guide to Cheerleading" and the photographs lead you pretty much through the whole sequence.
Also in its favor it does have great tips on:
*forming a team
*keeping on top of your legal responsibilities
*developing a practice plan
*reaching out to parents and the community
*building up your members' self-esteem
*evaluating and tweaking your program
My advice is to buy this book in conjunction with the other two mentioned above to get the most knowledge of cheerleading basics.

- for american coaches only
     By A1UPP48OLQ1M80 on 2005-02-06
I couldn't find much help from this book. However, I'm Swedish and how to start a program here is really different from in the USA. The stunting section was very short. The illustrations to the dancemovements were adequate but sometimes not enough descriptive. There are other books out that will tell you the same things, and more. I recommend "the ultimate guide to cheerleading" by leslie something.
- Good for first timers.
     By on 2000-01-10
This book is good for first time coaches, as a learning tool and a reference. The book has some boring parts and often repeats itself. It has very few pictures. It has no cheers or chants. However, it does demonstrate stretches, exercises, motions, and jumps. It also has step by step instructions, along with photos, that teach some partner stunts.
- great stunts just great for begginer and more

- GOOD FOR FIRST YEAR CHEERLEADING COACHES
     By on 1999-03-14
THIS BOOK IS AN EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR FIRST YEAR COACHES. MAY NOT BE AS HELPFULL FOR COACHES WITH EXPIERENCE, IT CONTAINS BASIC COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT SECOND YEAR COACHES HAVE PROBABLY ALREADY FIGURED OUT.
- This book has almost NO pictures!!!!
     By on 1999-04-23
I didn't actually read this book, but my coach has it and it has hardly any pictures, how is a coach going to teach a team to do stunts and jumps if she can't see how they are supposed to look? and all of the jumps that there are pictures of are not anything really neat, we were looking for some exciting jumps and stunts to do that other teams woulden't be doing in competition, and we didn't even find all of the stunts we already had.
- Awesome!
     By on 1998-01-15
This is both my first year and my coach's at cheerleading. This book helped us a lot and I would recommend this book to everyone. It's very upbeat and informative.
