Kid's loved it By A2PEY3TVFYPR31 on 2000-09-07
I rented this video for my children. Since then, they have repeatedly asked me to purchase it. I haven't heard that much laughter come from them while watching a movie in a very long time. Perhaps, it is not the greatest entertainment for adults. But let's be real. How many adults are going to be dying to go out and rent a Beethoven over an adult oriented comedy! I gave it five stars for my children. It was evidently the best movie they have seen in a while!
Extremely Boring By on 2000-08-22
Never has such high quailty film been used to produce such rancid shallow drivel. To say the movie was boring would be a compliment. Besides the beyond-silly plot that would insult the intelligence of a 3 year old, the acting of the entire cast was equally as bad. I never cracked a smile through the whole movie. Beethoven I & II were really funny movies and had a great cast. Beethoven's 3rd will leave you disappointed. Save your money.
"Full House" with a bigger dog By AU3SXDG7L1HBJ on 2001-03-15
There is only so much you can do with fifteen minutes of dog footage, and a two hour feature film is not a viable option. Granted it is difficult to make a movie for children when your main premise has been done before - and better - but the direction of this film was disastrous, apparently relying solely on a few moments of animal appeal as salvation. Still, indications are that young children do enjoy the film; young girls will identify with the daughter's plight to be heard, young boys will get a laugh out of the recurring poop and fart jokes, and some of both will cheer Beethoven when he gets to make his brief appearances. Adults, however, will only derive pleasure from the children in the audience.
This 3rd sequal is not worth it! By A88Z0WGMK5JCP on 2003-06-25
I watched this third sequal right after seeing the two original movies and it was not what I expected. I love Beethoven 1 & 2 but this sequal was boring and ridiculous. The original cast are gone and the new characters are just boring. The villians in this movie are really stupid. The only interesting thing about this movie was looking at Beethoven. This movie really wasted my time and I suggest saving your time and money. Not funny or interesting at all!!! Anyway I can't wait to see the fourth one though!!!
Terrible By ANI9D1L9SZ69N on 2002-01-08
That's not to say that some very, very young children might not be entertained by this film. As a parent, I have sat through many children's movies that were less than spectacular but at least entertained me in a childish or childlike way. This was not one of them. The best acting in the movie was the dogs. I loved the first Beethoven and Beethoven's 2nd. I've seen and enjoyed the live action versions of 101 and 102 Dalmatians. Loved Lion King and Shrek and all the classic animated Disney movies. But this is nothing like any of them. Judge Rheinhold is annoying in his role. The wife is a whinning pest. The boy is tolerable and the girl a bit better. The villains are moronic. Implausible plots are not the problem. Poorly executed and nonsensical things are and this film was filled with them. Love dogs (which I do) and want a nice dog story? Avoid this and get The Duke instead.
- Beethoven tragedy
     By on 2002-01-22
I have always loved the other beethoven movies but this is WORST! The 4th one was great, but ugh! this one is [bad]! the director put NOT ONE BIT of taste or brains into this one, he/she just wanted to make "another beethoven movie to get it over with". Don't buy this. save your money.
- Another insulting piece of junk.

I put off seeing the original "Beethoven" for a long time due to the fear that it wouldn't be suitable for anyone over the age of 6. Instead, it turned out to be a funny, cute and fairly smart family movie. It was a nice surprise. That brings us to "Beethoven's 3rd". The actors from the first two films in the series are gone. They are actually replaced by another group of talented and enjoyable actors (Judge Reinhold, Julia Sweeney, Joe Pichler & Michaela Gallo). Sadly, that's pretty much where the compliments end. The screenplay treats the viewer as if they have been in a state of arrested development since they were a toddler. You get the usual "hit in the crotch" and "sprayed with poop" scenes that these lowbrow movies love so dearly. I am also floored by how many times an action scene is either played in slow motion or fast motion. Over and over and over again. Perhaps it's meant to distract us from the fact that this movie sorely lacks a decent plot or any worthwhile humor. It doesn't work. I truly recommend seeing the charming original "Beethoven" but stay far, far away from this poor sequel.
- Strictly a family movie, but not fun to watch
     By A5JLAU2ARJ0BO on 2003-07-26
I haven't watched the original Beethoven or its immediate sequel. This third installment is a big letdown. OK, maybe it's because I'm a grown-up. Kids did like it. But I found the acting amusingly terrible, esp. the phony performance put up by the wife. The kids are not even likable. The Penny girl is kinda pretty but not particularly convincing. The two villains are the bright spots besides the dog (or the three dogs that play Beethoven), but after about 60 minutes, nothing in this movie has any redeeming value left. I pretty much fast-forwarded the last 20 minutes of this 90-minute film.
- I wish my DVD version had a suicide feature....
     By A1OTDWWFC84SXO on 2002-05-03
Worst movie I've ever seen in my life. And I've seen Ishtar and Meet The Deedles TWICE. Judge Reinhold plays the hartwarming role of a [stupid] father who shrugs his shoulders at all of Beethoven's antics instead of actually doing things like, say, running after him when he's running away with his shoes or something [bad] like that. And Julia Sweeny of "It's Pat" days doesn't do much for me either. All in all, if you want entertainment better than Beethoven's 3rd, eating unsalted cashews until vomiting ensues is a great alternative.
- just plain fun
     By AWSO6GWH00GDC on 2005-06-04
I don't know why so many people have a problem with this movie. Maybe the lack of gratutitious sex, violence, and foul language. Maybe they just need to get in touch with their inner child. It's just good clean fun, and I can watch it over and ever.
- Great Pleasure
     By A33FTKY4WDDA5C on 2005-09-26
I take great pleasure in the ridiculous situations which arise in this family and the dog. They make me laugh. I find this dog pleasant and congenial, so I love every one of his films.

- Fantastic Movie!!!
     By on 2002-07-31
In my eyes, Beethoven's 3rd is a great movie. I like it the best out of all 4 Beethoven movies. Very exciting, silly and great fun. There are some funny bad guys too. Overall a very good movie.
- Roll over Beethoven
     By A2SWTHZGC3UTCC on 2003-02-18
Straight to video nonsense with Beethoven returning once again with a new batch of cutesy puppies. Wondering why the original cast are missing? Simple- the new family are their relatives and have been so kind as to take care of Beethoven. The only recognisable actor in the film is Judge Reinhold who plays the father in the family. Beethoven's 3rd is basically a film which trys to act as an improvement and replacement on the original Beethoven movie. In the end though, it just proves to be completely unnecessary and ridiculous.
