  • NELSON HAS DONE IT AGAIN

    By A2EH0XIIOVD97Z on 2008-01-01
This was a great book on Assimilation. Although I have his audio seminar and much is repeated from that, this book adds to an already proven strategy. Nelson is a practitioner and has the ability to transfer concepts into workable real steps you can take now.Full of nuggets, insights, statistical truths, and more, this book is not only one of the few on the subject, but one you cannot be without. Not every part of this plan will work in your culture, as Nelson clearly states, but many of these are principles and not strategies, which makes them adaptable to any setting. Also a very easy read, not shallow, but easy. Thanks again Nelson, Roy, and Kerrick. Will see you at the next event. Victory Outreach Alcance Victoria Brooklyn, Pastor Eddie Ramirez

  • Simple and Practical

    By A8XHSK324PHP4 on 2008-01-03
We are a 2 year old church plant in Tampa (Church at the Bay). What I love about Nelson's system is it can be given to a new staff member or volunteer and they can run the process for the church (we did this!). As a church start, we put tons of energy into getting people to come for the first time. The next step is to turn those first time guests into regular attenders and Christ Followers. This book will help your church to help people establish a growing relationship with Jesus Christ!

  • The Best Book for Assimilation!

    By A1FAUIILVN4Y4F on 2008-01-01
Nelson Searcy has put together this amazing and practical approach to Assimilation that has significantly helped my church. He brings the seemingly allusive topic for many pastors and churches into an easy and understandable way to bring first-time guests into fully-engaged members. Since getting a hold of Nelson's common sense approach i've been able to get a bird's eye view of my church and track who comes in and who comes back and how to wow them in process. Nelson helps us to focus on guests God brings into our church by asking, "Are we doing all we can to accept and honor His blessing?"

  • Chris Brady (journeysf.com)

    By AJWLBK4QJ4COG on 2008-01-01
I was fortunate enough to be on staff at The Journey in NYC with Nelson. In fact one of my main responsibilities when I was there was to manage the assimilation strategy that Nelson had developed. I was able to see first hand the impact that Nelsons system had on integrating first time visitors into full fledged members. At every membership class we had when I was there we heard story after story about how important the first contact we made with them was and how the subsequent attention they received was critical to their decision to return and get involved.

The knowledge and experience with Nelsons system was invaluable to me as I went on to plant a church in San Francisco. Needless to say I still follow Nelsons system at my church and I am seeing the same kind of positive results.

  • This Is THE How To Book on Assimilation!
    By A2UBHFNW90DD3B on 2008-01-04
This book will become a standard training manual for all who work in guest services, greeting, ushering, etc. It is an easy to read, practical, step by step manual that works. Nelson has carfully thought through the essentials of an assimilation system, has condensed it into one book, and has shown his mastery of the subject by making it so simple that anyone can follow it.

We have implemented this system in our church and it has made a huge difference. Our guest to member retention rate has exponentially increased.

This book is written in such a way that it also serves as a good check list to review the esentials of your assimilation system to make sure that major items are not being dropped or that the system is not getting off track.

There are some books you read and put on a shelf to collect dust and then there are the rare ones like this one that you will keep close by and refer to time and again. It is one of the best investments you can make!

  • Great for New Teams, Hard For Established Ones
    By A1DSGK7Q3JTN6S on 2008-01-25
This book is one-stop shopping for any church looking to build up a new assimilation team. It has example letters, equations for calculating visitor retention and a start-to-finish approach of assimilation.
If you're looking to boost you're already established method, this book may not be quite right. It's all-inclusive nature makes it hard to pick pieces out to adapt for your own setting, meaning it might require a complete rebuild of your assimilation process (not necessarily a bad thing?)rather than some productive tweaking.
That said, it's a great, concise, and thorough look at a healthy and productive process for turning guests into members.

  • Another winner from Searcy!
    By A2KRRM8PXMOMTQ on 2008-01-01
Nelson has put out another great resource for all of us who are ready to work 'on' the church, not just 'in' the church. In his familiar style, Nelson cuts to the chase and gives us all what we really wanted... PRACTICAL STEPS. Its nice to have a younger pastor/practitioner who doesn't spend half of the book bashing the mega-church or getting lost in some vague postmodern theories. In this book you will find a well developed system for helping connect new visitors into the fabric of your church. Stop working so hard getting people to visit if you're not going to work just as hard helping them plug in and feel connected!

This book works. Thats all you need to know.

  • Great Book for Assimilation
    By A2TGU6RGXWVDSO on 2008-01-02
This is a must read for every pastor and staff who are serious about impacting the lives of those they reach. If you are serious about reaching people, and then assimilating them into the church, you must read Fusion. It's practical and it works! Nelson in a practical way will help you understand how to bring first time guest into full engagged members of the church. Read it, Live it, Practice it!

  • A Must Read for Connecting People
    By A2TI7W3G2I4QCQ on 2008-01-02
I became a Nelson fan in April of 2007 when I was introduced to his Assimilation System through a coaching network. We have seen nothing but positive results from the system that he maps out in this book. Three out of every five first time guests have returned, we have 65% of our adults in community groups and over 50% of our people volunteering. Our Church is 10 months old and we wouldn't be where we are if it wasn't for Nelson and his practical approach to connecting people to the local church.

You will read this over and over again!

  • Excellent strategies for church growth
    By A26Q66Z6CRDJSJ on 2008-08-03
Searcy and Henson have done a great job of putting together a very practical and readable guide to church growth. The basic premise is assimilating guests into engaged members by practicing an intentional hospitality and a structured follow-up strategy. The methodology makes perfect sense, and it is the same approach that Searcy used to grow his "from scratch" church in NYC. It is targeted toward a younger audience but could be adapted to different segments. There are also templates and other tools included in an appendix which make this a very implementable system. Searcy also shows that the motivation behind church growth is found in Bible verse. More information about Searcy can be found at www.ChurchLeaderInsights.com.

  • Fusion Power
    By A39ZCOJAHL30RY on 2008-01-28
Fusion power refers to power generated by nuclear reactions that once formed release enormous amounts of energy. In his latest book, Fusion, Nelson combines the power of a deep love for the lost with a strategic first-time guest follow up system aimed at helping guests connect with God and the church.

This straight-forward, strategic assimliation system is easy to understand and implement in any church size from 50 to 5000. I've personally road-tested and applied the Fusion principles and have witnessed first-hand the spiritual and relational energy it has created in our church.

  • Must read book for welcoming guests to your church!
    By A1ZHZA0POUFR12 on 2008-04-24
This is a great book to help your church implement a great guest welcoming program (hospitality). It is very practical and useful. You may not agree with everything, but you don't need to, to implement the program! This is uptodate and top notch.

  • A Must Read for All Church Assimilation Directors
    By A1F5BTA0EIVMAI on 2008-05-29
I read Nelson's book this morning, handed it to my Assimilation Director this afternoon, and sent Nelson a note tonight, congratulating him on a fine piece of work. New Song has been doing many of the things Nelson suggests for a long time, but his is a systematic approach that thinks through and closes the gap on each potential point where a newcomer might fall through the cracks.

I doubt if any of the pieces of Nelson's assimilation system are new. He's probably borrowed alot from Saddleback and a little from others. What Nelson has done is thought through, written down, and explained what to do, so that no one ever has to start from scratch again. This is a church assimilation primer! The surprising thing is that no one has written this book before. The laudable thing is, Nelson has now done it for us.

Smaller churches, if you want to think like a larger church, this is a very good place to start. As you grow, you'll need to adopt this type of system for welcoming newcomers, along with equally comprehensive systems for Small Groups, children's ministry, youth ministry, visitor attraction, branding your signature event in the community, and every other subministry of the church.

Larger churches may not need this - if they're already doing as much or more for visitors. Personally, I'm going to huddle with my team and use it as a reference guide and checklist to make sure we've closed as many gaps in our welcoming process as possible.

Great job Nelson! Keep them coming!

  • The Church Launching Manual
    By A3F3HYRFRT65MX on 2008-02-25
VisionalLife: The Pursuit of God's Passion

If I were asked what book should a first time church launcher buy, it would be Launch. I only wish the book would have been out before we launched in Jan 2007. We did pick it up and begin to implement the practical step by step instructions and recommendations. Since our launch in Jan 2007, we are averaging 175 and are using many of the post-launch strategies outlined in Launch. I have read many books on church planting and launching that are theory written by guys who have never taken a church beyond 150. Nelson is not a theorist, but a practician.
