Awww, look at the cute and tormented little Squee...! By A2ZLROGIL2V7GV on 2004-06-16
Jhonen Vasquez did not disappoint me when I decided to pick up "Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors." Just when I thought he couldn't top "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac," I read this and found myself laughing aloud like crazy. Dark, twisted, disturbing, and overwhelmingly hilarious, this comic collection is unforgettable and highly entertaining--even if you don't want to admit it!!If you've read "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac," then you will be familiar with the cute little boy named, Squee. Squee is a kid who seems to have the worst luck in the world. His parents hate him and wish that he would someday vanish without a trace. All of the school kids hate him and torment him. To make matters worse, he has the most dreadful nightmares about monsters and aliens. He even meets these creatures when he isn't asleep. From running away from his cannibalistic grandpa to persuading the aliens to take his parents away instead of him, from battling the dreaded "Dustmites" to the threat of becoming a mindless zombie school student, Squee is destined to grow up having some serious "issues." The book also includes the comic strips "Wobbly Headed Bob," "Fun with Filler (aww, look at the cuuute little bunny rabbit doing his filler dance!!),"Happy Noodle Boy," and the "Meanwhile" strips that were very much absent from "JTHM: The Director's Cut." While I think "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac" is Jhonen's most creative and disturbing work, I found "Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors" to be much more entertaining and hilarious. There were many times where I was laughing very loudly as I was reading this. It's so funny that so many horrible things can happen to such a cute little character. It makes you feel guilty for laughing... but that quickly goes away and then you laugh some more--and in an even more demonic and unrelenting tone! The drawings are great and the characters are extremely humorous. Another cool thing is that Jhonen LOVES to throw in hidden messages and jokes within certain panels, so be on the lookout for them. Another reason to read this more than once. Again, this is not intended for younger readers. While I found this much more easier to take than "JTHM," it's still very twisted, dark, disturbing and graphic. There are some very dark themes and imagery in this collection of comics, so it's not intended for those who easily get offended or disturbed. And, you must keep in mind that this book is here strictly for entertainment purposes only and is not to be taken seriously. Jhonen loves to poke fun at everything wrong in society--and even at his own work! If you want to read something very twisted, deranged, and hilarious, "Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors" is just the thing for you. Again, it's nothing for the easily offended. Even though it's a pretty short read, I found this to be one heck of an entertaining read and it's something I'll be sure to read a number of times in the very near future. Another slam-dunk for Vasquez and his sick and warped sense of humor! -Michael Crane
My family wants me institutionalized for liking this book By A3OI841P5R6FCH on 2000-02-25
Squee is a child who lives a tortured life filled with school bullies, overbearing teachers, alien abductions, a psychotic and murderous next-door neighbor who makes occasional visits, and parents who wish that he never existed... and tell him so at every opportunity. His only friends are his teddy bear- who "tells" him to kill or maim those who hate him- and the Anti-Christ himself, who happens to be a fellow classmate at Squee's school. Squee has the misfortune of invariably being at the wrong place at the wrong time- every time. But, here's the sick part... the worse his misfortune is, the more I laugh at it. I guess I'm just an insensitive lout, but I just can't help it. The Squee trade paperback contains a lot of sick and disturbing moments, and I've laughed like a maniac at just about every single one of them. The 'Dooky-blood is after me!' scene had me rollin' in the aisles so hard that there were those who were wondering what the hell was the matter with me. Also notable about this collection is the theme of kids getting traumatized in every way, shape, and form one could imagine. From brainwashing, to getting blown up or mangled, to neglect, it gets covered one way or another in this book. And I find every one of them to be very entertaining. The many scenes of torture and pain are so unbelievably over-the-top that I can't help but laugh at the grotesque misfortunes of others. The "Tickle Me Hellmo" comic near the end of the book is a virtual smorgasbord of kiddie trauma, and is one of the high points of this comic collection. I find this to be the best work by the artist and writer Jhonen Vasquez. Although most would consider his 'Johnny The Homicidal Maniac' comic series to be his magnum opus, I was a lot more entertained by his efforts with Squee. Also, Vasquez's artwork is more refined, and he seems more comfortable with his story telling and artistic style. But even though I found Squee to be a suprior effort, I do recommend that you read 'Johnny T.H.M.' as well... that's where Squee originated, after all.
Poor Little Squee!! By ATS7LYGLUX34L on 2002-01-28
I enjoyed Jhonen Vasquez' "I Feel Sick" mini-series, so when I saw the Squee trade-paperback, I picked it up, not knowing what to expect... Well, I certainly wasn't expecting it to be one of the best Comics I've ever read, but that's just what it was. The first half of the book is comprised of Squee stories- Squee is a little boy whose parents have no use for him; he is pursued by Aliens & Monsters, pushed around by bullies, and his only friend is the new kid at school....who just happens to be the Son of The Devil... I had no problem immediately falling in love with little Squee- He's so CUTE! (And who wouldn't identify with the childhood fear of waking up facing the wall.....with your back exposed to potential monster-attack!) The other half of the book is comprised of short strips from Vasquez' Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comic. The "Meanwhile" strips are worth the purchase price alone. My favorite concerns a man on a first date who finds his stomach-ache turning into unexpected....Diarrhea. The way he attempts to explain this had me laughing for about 10 solid minutes. This book has made me a Jhonen Vasquez fan for life, and I hope that I can get some other people to give this incredibly gifted creator a try.
twisted slapstick. VERY twisted... By A38EG606EX1S2N on 2000-05-23
Squee is one of those little treasures that is easily overlooked, but ever so worth it to those who give it a chance. the story is about a little boy named "Squee" who lives next door to Johnny C (of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac fame). Squee's life is a long and thorough list of traumatic experiences and damaging circumstances. torments come from all over space and time just to pick on him. that, sir, is a recipe for some real sick-o comedy. as an added bonus, nearly half the book is composed of "meanwhiles," those little one to three page stories that were smattered throughout both the original comic or the JtHM series, but hadn't been reprinted yet. they're all here, from filler bunny to happy noodle boy to the classic "oh my god, someone put sh** in my pants!" date. for me, many of them were more entertaining than the main story (the exploding baby being particularly dear to my heart). also check out wobbly headed bob, he's a classic. vasquez' illustrations are truly one of a kind. as with most artists, i would be hard pressed to describe it, but it fits the theme of the work perfectly. the detail and wit are stunning. i worship jhonen vasquez like a mayan god. he has shown so much improvement since he entered the limelight with JtHM. his latest effort,"I Feel Sick," continues this upswing both stylistically and intellectually (and it's in color, too!). i just wish he'd publish it more often...
Squee! is fun for the whole family... wait, no.... By on 2002-04-14
When I finished reading Squee! I couldn't stop laughing. Serously. After about three days of laughing** I was able to call all of my friends on the phone and lock them in my basement with the book** and not let them out until they had memorized every word**... but let's not get into that. The first part of this collection of short stories is all about a little boy name Squee, or as it may be, Todd, which was his name before his parents realized they had to take him home from the hospital. Squee runs into all kinds of trouble, be it Satan's son, alien abductions, or really quite crazy neighbors! The second part consists of short stories of completely different characters such as Wobbly Headed Bob, who aren't a part of Squee's world. Well... some of them. Like the guy and the aliens and that chicken... oh man... anyway, there are stories from one of Jhonen Vasquez's other book, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, that have absolutely nothing to do with Squee's world. Some of these stories do have anything to do with Squee's world, though. I sound like a psycho! Hot dogs! I recommend this book to anyone who can read, and if you can't read, that's really a shame, because reading is fun! Yay! **Just kidding!
- Genius, pure genius.

If you're deciding to get this book, don't wait. GET IT. THis book is will blow you away--amazing storyline, developed and dimensional characters, superb detailed art---you don't need to worry, it's all here and 100x more worthy than you'd ever expect. Squee is a cute little boy who has the unfortunate luck to always bump into homicidal slayings, aliens, blood, gore, animal mutilation, etc--all of which traumatize him to such a degree where his eyes are permanently frozen wide. Altho this sounds gory, you will just FALL IN LOVE with squee b/c of his innocence and pure adorableness. You will LAUGH, sympathizing with Squee b/c you too, were once a child, and you too, were scared of monsters and murderers hiding under your bed... sleeping against the wall to maintain a "forcefield"... only with Squee--it's REAL! now can you just imagine what crazy adventures come next? Also included in this book are a series of strips called "wobbly headed bob" which is just genius! Intellectually brilliant and insightful it will just amaze you to no end. The author, Jhonen Vasquez, is a brooding genius with skyrocketing IQ and untamed imagination that is boundless. Ever meet anyone like that? No? well then, read SQUEE, what are you waiting for?
- Buy him or he'll die...
     By on 2002-01-07
I'm one of those people who kinda prefers Johnny to Squee, but I still must say this statement:BUY THIS! Well, with that said, let me explain. It should be fairly obvious just from the cover that this isn't your father's comic book. The styles are so abstract and twisted, you just have to read it over and over again to absorb it all. And it all follows the sad, sad misadventures of a very unlucky little boy, Todd. (Known as Squee, of course) Squee's closest friends include a homicidal maniac and the son of the devil. He doesn't get much love from his parents either. All this leads to is a series of horrifically funny scenerios that pit poor Squee with the types of things we fear. But we laugh. And laugh. And laugh. Another reason to get this: Meanwhiles. Actually, I wasn't paticularly fond of these, but they seem to be wildly popular so I thought I'd bring them up. These include Filler Bunny, one of Devi's less successful dates, Happy Noodle Boy, and Wobbly Headed Bob. So if you love Johnny or Invader Zim, you'll like this too. Buy Johnny and Squee today!

This book was a great thing to read. Squee's just the kind of kid you can relate to: his parents hate him, he's picked on in skool, his neighbor's a homicidal maniac, there are aliens after his organs, and his best friend is the Antichrist...okay, so he might not be the easiest kid to relate to, but he's still too cute, huh? To tell the truth, this is one of my favorite comics I have ever read. It's funny, it's childish, it's completely sick and degenerative at times...and it was really uplifting after reading JTHM. The stories are delightfully creepy and horrible, and would make any censor want to projectile vomit all over their three-peice suit. As a warning, however, the 2 sickest (in my opinion, though I still read them with laughter and insanity) are the 'Granpa Hatey' and 'Dooky-Blood' strips. So if you have an extremely weak stomach...you know what, if you do, just don't read it. I don't think we want your guts all over the floor. Squee's Big Giant Book comes with all the Meanwhiles, True Tales of Human Drama, Happy Noodle Boys, and Wobbly-Headed Bobs that Jhonen has published, with the exception of the HNBs in the JTHM Director's Cut. These are all pretty hilarious, however, Wobbly-Headed Bob does get old after a while. So...umm...read it. Or I will eat your brain with cheez dip. Yum.

It's indescribable some of the wild and deranged moods I find myself entering whenever feasting my eyes on anything drawn, written, created, or illustrated by Jhonen Vasquez. In order to avoid repeating myself continuously throughout the review, I'll say this line once and only once: To understand the emotions and pleasurable insanity you experience with Vasquez's works, YOU MUST BUY THIS BOOK! That is the bottom line, so I just decided to get it over with early. On to the review...I don't feel like going on to talk about Jhonen's history of comics and the birth of JtHM (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac) or any of that. I'll just focus on this book alone. It is a random mismash of many different stories, Meanwhiles, drawings, and ideas into one book, but it focuses on the main character, SQUEE, for the most part. Squee is a young boy named Todd who we grow to know and love as he becomes subject to all of the terrors of our childhood and experiences bizarre, strange things in his vulnerable, early years of youth. His parents absolutely hate him and ignore him completely, his only friend is his teddy bear named Shmee, and his neighbor is a psychotic serial killer named Johnny (The SQUEE comic series was actually a spinoff of JtHM, Jhonen's first original series, which focused solely on Johnny). He is forced to confront the unknown world of the weird and wacky on his own with only Shmee to keep him company. The first half of this book is a collection of the four issues in the SQUEE comic series put together. Not only do we get to cackle in demented delight as Squee encounters monsters of many kinds, witnesses his parents being abducted by aliens, fights with his demonic schoolteacher, but we get to turn the page as the four issues finish and see that there is still another half of the book to read. And what a fantastic second half it turns out to be. The second half presents the famous Meanwhile segments thrown into one giant collection. Jhonen is known for these strips as there were many of them thrown in throughout the JtHM issues. They were his way of taking a break from drawing endless pages of storytelling with only one or two characters at his disposal. He often would step out of the Johnny world and delve into a whole new world of fresh characters to draw and short, new page-long stories to write. This was his way of keeping himself from getting sick of Johnny and from going insane, and the stories would always begin with "Meanwhile..." The first Meanwhile chunk is a hefty 11 pages of the Wobbly Headed Bob stories. This was a bit hard to bite off in one sitting. I can see why Jhonen only tossed them in here and there throughout the JtHM comics, so as to keep his readers from becoming bored. The Wobbly Headed Bob segments are, indeed, extremely repetitive and somewhat depressing. However, reading philosophy does enrich your mind, and you'll be surprised to find that most of Bob's deeply serious rants and references to modern society are frighteningly true. After that, we are treated to a few pages of Happy Noodle Boy segments, who spouts off random words of nonsensical craziness that only result in us wildly laughing at his silliness. The rest of the book contains other random Meanwhiles about everyday human drama, a guy who gets diarrhea on a first date, a teenager who turns into a vampire, a guy who is forced to screw a chicken at the mercy of aliens, and a few wild adventures with Jhonen himself. You'll find yourself laughing, cringing, raising one eyebrow, and thinking deeply all at the same time. You'll also begin using many catchy Jhonen phrases and becoming used to reading his edgy, jagged dialogue. I found myself utterly bored at the look of Times New Roman and Arial when I came down to my computer. Wickedly fun to read and an instant keeper...
- Squeeeeeeeee!
     By A2ASL6DAC9UY02 on 2002-06-15
As a follow up to the infamous JtHM series, Squee is a lighter more playful ride through Jhonen's world of creepy.... stuff. Everyone loved that cute hapless little boy who was so afraid of being killed by the crazy neighbor man and just about everything else! Now he stars in his own series of trauma, fear, and misery. But our job is to laugh at his expence. Squee is the sane fellow in a world of stupid aliens, cruel parents, creepy teachers, and zombie school mates. Know this as well, dear readers, you haven't seen the last of Johnny. The second part of the book is a real treasure. It contains the Happy Noodle Boy comics, the Wobbly headed Bob comics, and the MEANWHILES from both Squee and Johnny. (The individual comix) They're side stories, but many are quite humorous and shocking. So go, and partake in the Jhonen-y goodness.

     By A1XOW55IRFABNN on 2002-07-31
If you are a fan of JTHM, and are looking for a next installment of the same thing, be prepared. In Squee Jhonen doesn't use the same twisted sense of humor that keeps NNY going. Pure laughs, squee's life is all bad luck, no matter where he goes! Jhonen picks on himself ALOT during this book, and it just adds to it tremendiously. I would buy Squee just for the meanwhiles as well, including comics about Jhonen himself, noodle boy, wobbly headed bob, alien invasions, big-headed vampires...i can't list them all. bottom line, this book is hilarious, and Vasquez takes a different approch with his writing. A definate buy for anyone.
- Hilarious
     By AJKWF4W7QD4NS on 2004-01-28
A spin off of Jhonen Vasquez' Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Squee is non-stop hilarious from beginning to end. First featured in the pages of JtHM, his neighbor Squee has his share of very bad luck. His parents hate him, he has encounters with aliens, he's picked on in school, and he's invited for dinner by another kid named Pepito with horns on his head and has the devil for a father. There's all this and tons more to be had as Vasquez displays the same type of twisted humor that made JtHM so popular. I actually like Squee more than I did JtHM; you can't help but feel sorry for the kid while your laughing like an idiot at his plight. Also included are meanwhiles which include tales involving alien abduction experimentation, big headed vampires, a hilarious take on Tickle Me Elmo, and a tale starring Vasquez in which he gleefully pokes fun at himself.
- Thought JTHM was a little too much? Try Squee!
     By on 1999-09-09
Jhonen Vasquez' sick little mind has produced a wonderful big giant book of unspeakable horrors, indeed! Squee, so-named for the sound he makes when he is frightened (which is a very, very common occurance), is the central character in this much-anticipated 'Johnny the Homicidal Maniac' spin-off. This book has a more subdued tone than its predecessor, but its ending is just as grim, although not nearly as expected as 'JTHM.' Still, do not let that deter you! There are plenty of treats such as Jhonen's commentaries, lots of the previously-uncollected "Meanwhile" vignettes that ran in both 'Squee' and 'JTHM'(such as "Tickle-me Hellmo" and "Crossing Gods"), and, of course, a new illustration on the back cover! Buy 'Squee"...you know you want to *mu-hahahaha!*

If you like any work by Jhonen Vasquez, you'll love this! If you read Johnny the homocidal maniac, then you know who Squee is, a little boy (who's real name is todd)...his mom ignores him, his dad hates everything about his existence, and his neighbor is...well...a psycho killer who stops by for band aids. this has all the four isssues of the comic series, and things from JTHM that didnt even get in JTHM: the director's cut... if youre only starting to get into this world of Jhonen Vasquez's art, you should get this...everyone should get this really...

If you've seen invader zim, you'll love it. I gave this book such a low rating for one thing: language! There is an average of a curse word a page. Not just the usual slang, but things like the "f" word and other "hardcore" cuss words. It would be so much funnier w/o those words.

Well...if any of have read any of my other Amazon reviews you would know by now that this review will not help you at all...annnddd it probably wont be posted...but for the soul reason that I said that for some reason you morons *cough* wonderful people at Amazon will post it anyway....Well back to the point...mmm pointy...anywho...Squee is one of the most awesomest books ever, I think a real word would be better buuuut I'm lazy...Now I'm writing this review in the "under 13" section but actually I'm a fourty year old midget named Ricky...*ahem* noooww...This book aint suitble for people, I dunno,13 and below...well scratch that, unless your the kinda of people who dont really care for their child's wellbeing then Go ahead!! You know, I know this is off the subject, but I have to come clean. I'm not really a fourty year old midget named Ricky, I'm a fourty-seven year old...um...person with a rather distasteful job....um...37 a night. I like to get it done fast. There's no nudity in it, but there is a LOT of swearing, and disturbing pictures...but it's REALLY REALLY funny. But...IT'S ALL SECRETS AND LIES ISNT IT!?! SECRETS AND LIIIIEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
- Sucked in to the world of Squee
     By A2DX4UH7UW7BMN on 2004-12-28
I can't remember why I added this book to my wishlist originally; I think I had come across some Crab Scrambly illustrations on a google search, which led me to the book he and Jhonen did together and I then added a bunch of stuff from there. I had heard of JTHM years ago, but had never read that series (and still haven't, but it's on my list now)...So while I have always been a fan of dark and gruesome humor, writing, and illustration; my palate had been limited to Edward Gorey and Tim Burton prior to this.
I am happy to say Squee instantly won me over and now has a special place in the '13th circle of hellish childhood nightmares' section of my mind...Jhonen Vasquez perfectly captures just how freaked out things and people can make you as a small person and how sometimes the very things that you fear the most, can also become your best friends and confidants, helping you to cope with the insane world in which we are brought up. I look forward to expanding my collection of Jhonen Vasquez works and similar artists as well.
- One of my favorite non-manga comics!
     By A2EMRD0L2XOYHP on 2000-01-04
Squee is my 2nd favorite non-manga comic! My first one was Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (also created by Jhonen Vasquez) which has quite alot to do with the Squee comics. Squee is one of the most twisted and hilarious comics I have ever read! Jhonen Vasquez is a genius! The comedy in Squee is alot less psychological (i guess)and has alot less dialogue than in JtHM. Plus, in this book, it includes the "meanwhiles" that were excluded from the JtHM book! Plus some more Happy Noodle Boys. If you need a good laugh, try reading this book (try JtHM too)!
- Disturbing, yet hilarious
     By A3QOJFKGEJ2PH7 on 2001-12-11
Poor Squee, his parents hate him, his grandfather wants to eat him and he has not one, but two alien races trying to kidnap him...oh, did I mention his homicidal teddy bear? This book is full of dark offbeat humor that I simply could not get enough of. I have lent my book to so many friends that the pages are falling out. Aside from the Squee comics there are also Happy Noodle Boy, Wobbley Headed Bob and plenty of Meanwhiles.... If I feel the need to laugh until it hurts, I reread this book.
- Funny!
     By A2PN246I7OXNIY on 2005-01-02
This book was really funny! I mean it, I couldn't stop laughing. This is the lighter side of Jhonen that doesn't have as much of the brooding in it as JtHM did but it's really worth the buy.
The reason I didn't give this a 5 star review is that after you get sick of the jokes, you find yourself skipping the mini-stories and it gets annoying when you've skipped through the whole book. I've tried waiting a few months until I've forgotten the jokes and reading it again but that didn't work. So this book really doesn't get better with age. But it's still really worth buying and it sets itself apart from all Vasquez's other works. It is very different and more sketchy and a little cruder than Invader Zim and has a little morbidity in it. But it's better for kids that JtHM.
The only thing I hate about Vasquez's works is that the fans try to imitate his drawing style, his sense of humour and they make *really* bad fan fiction and butcher the characters with fan art. So the fans are the only part you should watch out for.
- Squee the Magnificent!
     By AI4LHGH6XKV1L on 1999-11-28
Squee, the product of a truely disturbed genius. Jhonen Vasquez does a terrific job of delving into the mind of the unwanted, un-needed, and unloved child. The paranoia, the nightmares, the horror. Through the backalleys and through disturbed schoolhouses of zombies created by the twisted public school system, and even in the pathetic world of wobbly-headed Bob, Vasquez treats us to the world of thr lonely and sad hearted, the sick and twisted, and the poor innocent crigenically frozen bunnies. Please, Oh GOD please, let these poor fellows die... especially that poor poor bunny...
- Funniest thing I've ever read!
     By A1BXGNA2MHUBJR on 2002-01-23
Simply the funniest thing I've ever read! I have a very open (some would think demented) sense of humor, but this is laugh out loud stuff. Even if it disturbs you- It will make you laugh! I want to be burried with this book! Squee' got it bad! Real bad! Poor kid...... The extra material- "Meanwhiles, Wobbly Headed Bob, and Happy Noddle Boy, are pure genius! Vasquez must have had a more disturbing childhood than most! It takes a specail breed to create stuff like this! BUY IT NOW!

If you're at all a fan of Invader Zim or any of Johnen Vasquez's other work, this book is for you. Or if you just like reading about a weird little boy being tortured by everyone and everything imaginable, the same is true. Anyway, this book is a great read and something anyone not too easily offended can enjoy.
- Jhonen's amazing little book
     By on 2000-05-01
This was the first book I ever read by the dark lord Jhonen Vasquez. Squee's been called his best work and I certainly think it is. He's got more experience coming into this series than he did with Johnny, although still keeps with the honest originality of that book. Twisted to a level which could be nauseating to some yet touching in it's own strange way, Squee is probably the best comic book I have ever read. The book also contains two erratic introductions by Jhonen as well as all the Meanwhiles from both Squee and JtHM (I love the Meanwhiles).

This book was the first time I had read any of Jhonen's stuff. As you can see, I was in for quite a surprise. However, the twisted humor and bashing of public schools soon won me over (despite the screaming man in the bathroom) and Squee's Wonderful ect. is my favorite book. Buy it if you have ever, at any moment, considered even liking a work of Jhonen or joining Satan's army of darkness. Yay!

I have to say that I have not always been a HUGE comic book fan but this has completely changed my views. This book is funny and very intelligent. The drawings come to life immediately. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this comic. It's really worth the read. Also, once you buy it, don't let go of it... it's a keeper.
- Much better than Johnny the Homicidal Maniac
     By AXCKPCR8BNVDD on 2002-10-10
For those of you who found JtHM annoying and pretentious, give Squee a try. Gone are the whiny rants and social commentary. All that remains are over the top storylines and hillarity.Squee is an unfortunate child who encounters horror after horror in his young life. It definitely has that "I can't believe that just happened" quality to it. The "Meanwhile" strips are also very good, retaining a similar feel, despite not featuring Squee.
- MUST GET THIS BOOK!
     By A3D3GISV7DK99G on 2003-06-02
Personally, I have not seen the big book version. I own the indivitual comics myself but all in all I believe they are basically the same. Being a complete Jhonen obsessor, it is hard not to love this book but I assure you, even if you have no idea who the heck Jhonen Vasquez (He has created Jhonny the Homicidal Maniac, Invader Zim, I Feel Sick, etc) is you'll be falling off your chair in horrific laughter. Squee! (No typo, it's suppose to end in an exclamation mark) is a comic about a yound boy by the name of Todd, better known as Squee. His parents hate him, he has no friends (unless you count Satan's son and a homicidal maniac), and he spends plenty of time talking to his freakish teddy bear, Shmee. Just to make things worse, anything that's terrifying, horrific, grotesque, or down-right bad has happened to him. From being chased by aliens, to being almost eaten by grand-fathers, to zombie attacks, this little boy has seen it all. It seems the only thing that helps him through it is Shmee. Jhonen is a pure genius. His work is amazing. Just a warning: This book's humor is a tad twisted. It is not meant for the weak. Overall, get this book!

Okay, I was first turned onto the Squee series because of the Nick how Invader Zim, witch totally rules. I got the first issue of Squee at a store. Because it was store they sold it to me. I started reading the words, and it seemed sortta jumbled and not that great. The story was somewhat bland and forgettable, but the second story where Squee watchs his friend be fangouriously devoured by a rabid dog (witc was after his peanut butter and Jelleeeee sandwitch), was hilarious. I kept on reading then when I got to the mini-comic, Happy Noodle Boy, I laughed my head off. It was so idiotic and Genius that I needed more.I bought this book manly for the four Noodly comics contained in it. I didn't know if the other Squee comics would be good or not based on my mixed emotions from the first one. The later Squee's were probably the funniest things ever (except for of course Squrrels, lookathim storing his nuts.). The other mini comics contained in this book are really quite forgettable. The meanwhile... Comics are manly from the NNY series and are very sick and twisted. Although I enjoyed some of them I just think they could have been better. And that horrible Wobbly Headed Bob series. Man that is not funny at all. Moan Moan Moan. I couldn't get past the third issue. The Noodle Boys on the other hand were excellant! In conclushun, I feel very strongly that you should...GET THIS FREAKIN BOOK! and skip wobbly headed bob. He was the reason I gave this four stars. Try out Roman Dirge's Lenore comics too. They might be even better than Squee!
