You Can Do It! By A3DP2O159UYRCE on 2006-12-08
I just finished making my first T-shirt quilt using this book and it turned out incredible! Although I have done a bit of sewing, I realized that I needed some guidance on this project because I had never made a quilt before and because I was using T-shirt jersey which can be tricky for sewing. Based on earlier reviews of this book, I bought it and it was perfect. The author, Lauren Kingsland, literally goes step-by-step through the process and her writing is so clear that I had absolutely no problem understanding what I needed to do. She gives a lot of helpful hints and the appendices are quite helpful too. While I really appreciated the complete and clear instructions, I equally appreciated the emphasis she put on the importance of careful planning and design. Because of this emphasis on design, I ended up with a quilt that was not only technically well-constructed, but was also a "piece of art". I am proud to be able to give this quilt as a gift to my teenager. If you want to make a T-shirt quilt, this is absolutely, positively, the book to have.
T-shirts Never Looked So Good By A3M77K97FQAX20 on 2006-08-17
I purchased this book directly from Lauren at her quilting studio in Maryland. I have read the book cover to cover and I think the directions are clear and concise. I like the way Lauren gives design element instruction to help sewers of all levels make a pleasing quilt. I am planning to create one of my own T-shirt quilts following these directions. I do not usually take classes so I like how systematically these are spelled out. Although in this case, I guess you could say I'm cheating as I will be taking a workshop taught by Lauren later this fall.
Wonderful! Creative, professional and simple. By A1VZ8BOYRGDR7A on 2006-08-19
I love the concept of this book. It has allowed me to resurrect my worn collection of band t-shirts into a truly awesome quilt. I am currently working on creating a quilt with my daughter's out grown t-shirts. I am not an exceptionally crafty person, but the directions were straightforward, and simple. The author is a natural teacher and it comes through in the instructions. The hints and diagrams were especially helpful. To sum it up, the book combines a great deal of imagination, with simplicity and professionalism. I recommend it as a great gift idea.
Perfect reference for making your Tshirt Memory quilt! By AJHI29G5JXRH9 on 2006-11-06
Lauren's book is terrific for guiding you through making a T-shirt quilt. And what better way to preserve your memories (and your closet will have more room once you have added the "T"s to your quilt).
It's a fun process - and it's very, very doable! I highly recommend this book to anyone considering making this quilt!
