When Adam Colter finds a beautiful stranger lying unconscious in a snow-covered ditch on his property, he feels an instant connection to her. Could she be the woman he and his brothers have been waiting for? Judging by Ethan and Ryan Colter's reactions to the woman, before she even wakes, the future looks promising with this mysterious woman in it.

Holly doesn't know quite what to think when she wakes to find herself in the care of the three brothers, all intent on making her their own. Even the pesky little detail that she is already married, or that her husband may be trying to kill her doesn't seem to deter the Colter men from their objective - her!

Maya Banks novel Colters' Woman was on my to be read list when I first read the synopsis for it. As I heard more and more buzz from others who had already enjoyed it, its reading priority was quickly escalated for me. I can tell you unequivocally, this book lives up to its hype!

If you enjoy a very hot erotic ménage tale, then you need to purchase Colters' Woman right away! This book starts out steamy, never lets up, and yet still has plenty of plot. The Colter men circle the wagons, so to speak, in order to protect the one woman who has been able to stir the hearts of each of these magnetic men from her murderous husband.

The Colter brothers could easily make any woman believe that marriage to three men is a perfectly normal thing. Indeed, the way Maya Banks writes these men makes a woman wish for just such a reality.

Once Holly recovers from her initial shock over the situation, she warms to the idea, and quickly proves she is the right woman for each man.

Colters' Woman is the kind of book that makes me kick myself for not having read any of Maya Banks work sooner!

  • Finding one woman to share their lives has proved to be a impossible task for the Colter brothers - until now.

    By A2AY83K9N60V38 on 2007-01-23
Adam, Ethan, and Ryan have everything they want in life with the exception of one thing - a woman who will complete them. They've planned and dreamed of the day they'd finally find a woman who incites the passion in all three of them and is strong enough to love and accept each in return. They'd just about lost hope until Adam trudged out to get the mail and finds Holly laying unconscious in the snow only yards from their home.

Holly is running from the man she married. She's been running scared since her wedding night when she saw her new husband commit murder. She was still running when her car broke down at the base of a mountain where the Colter brothers hunting lodge sits. She'd walked to their lodge, but lost consciousness before reaching the door. Next thing she knows, she's buck naked in a bathtub full of warm water with a gorgeous man standing over her. As if that isn't enough of a shock to a girl's system, there are two more men waiting in another room and all three of them want to keep her - forever.

The Colter brothers agree that Holly is everything they want in the woman who will become their wife, lover, and eventually the mother of their children. Convincing her that they're serious about wanting her to stay is going to be a bit trickier than any of them anticipated. Holly is determined to keep running. Not only is her husband a dangerous man, but she's also confused by her own desires for Adam, Ethan, and Ryan. Being so turned on by all three men at the same time makes her a whore, doesn't it? The brothers are going to have to do some serious explaining about their intentions toward her and why her attraction to all of them is acceptable and even desired. Helping her to get a divorce as quickly as possible is imperative, but not nearly as important as keeping her safe from the man who wants nothing more than to see her dead.

Maya Banks COLTERS' WOMAN is an awesome story full of emotional turmoil, hot sweaty sex, and enough suspense to keep readers anxiously reading through each scene with bated breath. Adam, Ethan, and Ryan each have vastly different personalities and needs. Holly is faced with the prospect of trying to figure out their quirks and how best to deal with each man. It's a bit overwhelming but she's up to the task. This book is chock full of scenes that will have you close to tears one minute and laughing out loud, all while chewing anxiously on your fingernails. The emotional bond that develops between the Colter brothers and Holly is a key factor throughout the story and readers won't soon forget any of these wonderful characters. Beautiful job, Maya! You've more than fulfilled my expectations with this endearing tale.

  • Simply stunning!

    By A1PW5SQLR0Z6IH on 2007-01-24
Adam Colter and his two brothers, Ethan and Ryan are feeling restless. Winter has set in, but after ten years of guiding hunters through the mountains in the fall, they want more. Walking to get the mail, Adam is surprised to see someone in a snowy ditch and rushes to help. Rushing to the fallen person, he is astonished to see that it is a woman and without further thought, he knows she is the one; the one person that will complete his family unit. Carefully picking her up, he rushes her to the cabin and his brothers.

Holly Bardwell is tired of running but has no choice. The witness of a murder, she escaped with just the clothes on her back and since her car broke down, she is relieved, lucky to not have died. She is a bit nervous though because she wakes up in the company of not one but three dashing and extremely virile looking men. Men that somehow make her feel safe, while at the same time make her feel aroused and tingly inside. Men that she is afraid of caring about because if she loves them, she might inadvertently put them in danger or get them harmed.

Adam, Ethan, and Ryan vow to Holly that she is safe from the menace searching for her and set out to prove to her that they love her and want her with them always. Finally feeling safe, Holly's world comes crashing down with a single gun shot. Now it is up to the brothers to save her like they promised.

Colters' Woman by Maya Banks is a ménage match made in heaven. I still haven't recovered from its intensity. Adam, Ethan, and Ryan are heroes at their finest and sinfully sexy lovers as well. Fully anticipating and looking forward to a ménage, what I got was so much more. More love, more passion, more story. Each male character is lovable, from Adam's no nonsense approach to Holly's safety, to Ethan's ready laughter, to Ryan's vulnerability. Each brother single handedly made me fall in love and like Holly, there would have been no way I could have picked just one. Holly surprised me at first with her readiness to accept the men in her life but as the story progressed, her character strengthened and I have to say that her bravery was stunning.

Colters' Woman grabbed me from page one and refused to let go until I read the last word. This story of three lonely men and one lonely woman just worked for me. I haven't recovered yet and still am thinking about this marvelous story. Grab the ice water and get a fan, because this baby is HOT!! When a book still affects me hours after reading it, I can't help but joyfully recommend it and I fully recommend Colters' Woman by Maya Banks!

  • Does not live up to the hype!!!

    By A1B3HPW0PSIJPR on 2007-06-19
This book does not live up to the glowing reviews written about it. I am truly disappointed with the quality of writing and the characterization of the heroine in this book. We are told by the author that Holly is beautiful and special, but the writer does not include any inner dialogue that shows Holly's specialness. As I started reading this book, it dawned on me around chapter 3 or so that she was really getting on my nerves. She has no humor or real warmth, and all the brothers do is wait on her. Why would an abused woman trust any stranger enough to live with one-- let alone three-- that suddenly claim she is "the one"? I really lost patience with this book when the more interesting female character, Lacey, is almost protrayed as the "villian" just because she is hurt by Adam's rejection of her. Of course, Holly feels no sympathy for Lacey, because she is so worried about Lacey disliking her and possibly betraying her. (By the way, I agree with Lacey's assessment of Holly's character.) Holly is so weak and whiny that I'm surprised when she starts fighting back. Also, the characterizations of the men are so thin that it's hard to believe that they would want to share a woman. Holly clearly prefers the youngest brother Ryan, while having little chemistry with the oldest brother Adam. The most interesting brother, Ethan, is given short shrift. Other more talented writers like Jory Strong or Lora Leigh or Emma Holly can pull off this kind of multi-partner relationship, but Maya Banks cannot.

  • Don't waste your money

    By AG2BIJU3PEYSB on 2007-10-31
I absolutely love erotica. I buy atleast 10 books a month on EBay so I think I've read quite a bit that's out there. This book was a sad disappointment.

The author would explain what was going on in a scene, but there were no descriptions of what the characters were feeling, how they longed or hungered or were thrilled by what was going on. The heroine certainly got to have sex, but as far as it being sexy, I didn't think so.

I guess it was a lot like watching porn. I could see what the people were doing, but I could not experience any of the joy or excitement they were feeling as that wasn't scripted into the book.

  • Okay for the genre but...
    By A3H7VFV8IW400U on 2007-05-22
I have to admit that I don't really understand the rave reviews. Yes it is quite steamy and okay-written for the genre. I found the plot to be rather ludicrous and the characters, especially the three Colter brothers - all of whom are of course big, handsome, muscular, caring, etc. - paper thin. You basically differentiate between them by the fact that one calls Holly, the 'woman' of the title, Doll, Babe, or...I forgot the third nickname. Oh, and I should also mention that the way in which they decide she's their 'woman' is not quite deep one of them finds her in a ditch, brings her home, and bingo! she's the one. Whatever I guess. There are better written and better plotted novels in this genre. However if you are looking for steamy (look at the tags for this book and you will see where it leads to) then you will probably be satisfied.

  • WoW It was really bad.
    By AY3WOU6BXUX5M on 2008-01-05
I almost never write a bad review but this book was just so amazing bad I find it hard to believe it has so many good ratings. I was recommended this book from Amazon because I purchased and LOVED Mz Banks For Her Pleasure. I find it hard to believe its the same author.

I love menage books and have read every Lora Leigh, Emma Holly and countless Ellora Cave stuff so it is not my lack of comparison books.

The writing in this book is high schoolish. Monotone as if Rainman was telling a story. There is no conveying of feelings or reasoning behind any of the characters. Brother finds girl in snow..she is pretty..his loins throb...and thats by page 7. Girl is wakes in strange bed with strange after running from some someone trying to kill her and her first thought is he is hot..and she tingles?...Seriously?? I am wondering where the publishers or editors were. Writing sex for the sake of sex..it was bad sex too...geesh. Maybe this was a first novel for Mz Banks and the other reviews just hadnt read anything decent prior. This book makes me question any future purchases from this author no matter how much I loved the other book.

  • Huh? People who rated this high should check out Ellora's Cave titles
    By A3OKI6CT2ZU03R on 2007-10-08
From the first chapter, all I could think throughout the book is someone under age must have written this ;) It was really, really immature. The dialog was - well, I can't think of a better word than immature. And talk about an undeveloped plot?? This book couldn't even be edited down to a semi-decent short story. If you like this story line - check out "Sarah's Seduction" from Ellora's Cave. It's not your New York Times best seller material, but it is MUCH better written than this waste of paper. Sarah's Seduction is part of a trilogy (Marley's Choice and Heather's Gift are the other two) but the other two aren't as developed as the middle book in my opinion. I've read a few books from this publisher and I must say after reading Ellora's Cave titles for some time, this publisher (Samhain Publishing) really, REALLY falls short by comparison.

  • Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz
    By A3MRGCD10AITQ2 on 2007-09-21
I expected a bit more. Within the first few pages, Adam's saying "You're ours," I'm thinking, what kind of woman would stick around. I'd be knocking them unconscious and getting away from the crazy cowboys. This isn't set in medieval times, our heroine may be naive, but she does have a back bone.
The bedroom scenes were great, but why in god's name do all of these novels have the characters saying "I love you" after only a few days. I don't get it. I know these books are fiction and are supposed to be entertainment, but there comes a point in even fantasy books where the authors are writing against human nature and the story stops being believable. Love and trust are not something given easily or quickly. I wish one of these authors would get it right, Banks didn't.

  • How many times?
    By A3OOTVMQ5JTCPL on 2007-07-04
The concept of the writer's idea was excellent. I found it interesting three men sharing one woman like a wife. However, the young lady has personal issues that need to be wrapped up. The woman is consistently breaking down crying and saying that she can finally let all the pent emotions flow free. How many times does it take to vent out one pent up emotion....obviously many many many many many times for this one lady.
This was my first purchase of a book written by this author. It is likely I will not buy any more of her books.

  • Unengaging and un-erotic
    By A1NHNB8N98AP1F on 2007-12-26
This story did not do very much to turn up the heat. Unrealistic, un-life-like characters, a story that is strange (in an un-interesting way) and quite sillly and the whole thing just so completely void of feeling and eroticism.

  • There was actually a plot here.....
    By A24VNAS9XHX8HA on 2007-07-20
I am always a little skeptical about romantica novels. I find them to be somewhat of a joke due to either a lack of a plot or a plot so silly, it renders a book unreadable. A coworker of mine who knows I love romance novels gave me this book to read. I've honestly had it awhile before I bothered to read it, not really wanting to waste my valuable reading time. But, I squeezed this story in between a Diana Palmer and a Kresley Cole. I was somewhat surprised.

There was actually a plot. And it kept me involved. Maybe not that believable, but interesting just the same. Adam, Ethan and Ryan are brothers, looking for THE woman. The woman who they are all attracted to and who would be willing to share her life with them. While this may sound a tad bizarre to most people, it's certainly not bizarre to Adam, Ethan and Ryan who not only was exposed to this type relationship previously, but was raised in one. Both their mother and their grandmother were both involved in a one woman/ three guy relationship. While it wasn't easy, they've made them work.

Adam, Ethan, and Ryan have decided that they want that same relationship for themselves. Adam literally finds the heroine Holly on the side of the road. And while she has her own set of problems in the form of a husband, she turns out to be exactly what the three brothers need. In return, Holly learns a bit about self-esteem, love, and self-acceptance.

Ms. Banks did an excellent job of taking strong appealing characters and balancing them with suspense, romance and yes, lots and lots of steamy bedroom scenes. Surprisingly, all of those love scenes didn't subtract from the story, as is usually the case with romantica. And while romantica is STILL not my book of choice (probably never will be,) I can certainly appreciate a good read.

  • Never again
    By A1MRQUGR3IXV7T on 2007-10-17
I read several of Lisa Marie Rice's books recently and enjoyed them - it was my first dabble into "erotica". I was led to this one, as you are, by links on amazon. If this erotica, then it's a genre not for me. I am not a prude but without going into detail, this is pretty indigestible stuff (read it and you will see what I mean) and I left the main course and dessert as I could not finish the book; I've already sold it on. Maybe some like this sort of thing. I am not criticising those who do but it's definitly not for me. It made Lisa Marie Rice's books, which although they were all pretty much the same story with pretty unrealistic sex scenes, nevertheless seem by comparison like tasteful romantic fiction compared to this and I would not classify them, now, as erotica. Not recommended unless you really need this sort of badly written, puerile, childish and tasteless rubbish in your life.

  • Fell Way Short!! (Spoiler)
    By A2UOBTVH1UE2HZ on 2008-01-15
This book had soooo much potential!!! I ABSOLUTELY loved the story line. I loved the premise of them taking care of her. Wonderful! HOWEVER...to believe that a virgin has wonton sex immediately with 3 guys is a bit far fetched. And their sex scenes....give me a break...again you have this virgin who very shortly into the relationship gets penetrated by all 3. Come on!!!! A little build up would haven been more believable!

  • Great book but it seem to lacking something
    By ADGTWXUG0IM37 on 2007-03-07
Adam,Eathan and Ryan Colter has spent their days looking a special woman. One day Adam finds Holly lying in near their mailbox. When they take her in they realize that she is the "one" for them. Suddenly Holly life goes from terror to passion filled each night with the men. But Holly's old life is coming back and it might bring danger to the Colter men.
"Colters' Woman" is the first book that Maya Banks and it was pretty good. The was very sexy read that is not for the faint of heart. But I didn't give it five stars because back story seem to lacking somehow and it bugged me though out the whole book.

  • Silly
    By A1VCJFRC5VOLLB on 2007-12-12
I must not be into this sort of off the wall, silly, "rescue the girl", far out novel type. I couldn't get into it, very unrealistic, elementary and a true waste of money and time.

  • colter's woman
    By A3UBGW47Y5Y9D5 on 2007-03-19
This book is wonderful. Within the first chapter, Adam, Ethan, & Ryan are already developing into great characters. The lady they fall in love with is warm and caring and perfect for them. The story is exceptional and the love scenes well balanced and fit the story perfectly. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a great read.

  • I hated to see it end!
    By A1KJUQDRCIL4PA on 2007-03-25
Yes, this book has some very HOT pasages. But what really made this a special story was the emotions. Not only the developing relationships with Holly but the love, trust and understanding between the brothers themselves that allowed them to all love the same woman.
Put this book on your keeper shelf. You are going to want to read it again.

  • Umm it was ok
    By ACYAYMFOSZJXK on 2007-12-21
I bought this thinking it was going to be hot. And it was in a few spots but for the most part I was unimpressed. She's found in the snow and basically right after she wakes up she is told that "she's the one" and she accepts it. Of course she has a secret. She's married to murderer.

All in all there are better out there.

  • Awful!
    By A2KD0NVCYIKHT2 on 2008-02-18
I too bought this book due to a link on Amazon, but I am really sorry I did, and now I am wary of recommendations from this site.

The writing in this book is terrible, the characters are irritating, and the story is poorly done. Most of all, I couldn't like the heroine at all. She seemed so passive and not at all sexy, nor could I see anything that made her more than a convenient person who would go along with what the Colter men wanted.

I did finish the book, hoping for something good at the end, but was disappointed again. Don't waste your money!

  • Porn on paper!
    By A1F3YT1298K5DX on 2008-06-03
I did not love this book or even like it. I suppose for the genre it's okay, but I need a little more depth in my stories. The premise was not believable at all, or perhaps it could have been, if the author had spent more time developing the characters and storyline. Holly was ditzy and weak and I didn't like her at all. I would avoid this book even if you love erotica. It's not worth the time (or money) you'd spend on it.

  • Loved it!!
    By A7U1EZM56PI96 on 2007-07-13
This book was hot and steamy! I've passed it along to my girlfriends and they loved it too! To be the girl in this story loved by three hot brothers! It will make your toes curls & other parts of your body tingle. Oh yes, and the story may be 'out there' but it was still so sweet.

  • unrealistic but a nice read
    By A288GDEPWP942Y on 2007-10-06
its believable that a woman would fantasize about 3 guys but what i found really unrealistic was how quickly she got over her traumatic situation and fell so quickly for the three brothers and vice versa.
you found a unconscious woman on the groung and you are immediately attracted even though she was injured? i think the person should be worried about the injuries rather than keep on thinking about his one-sided attraction with an injured woman.
but besides those factors, it was a nice read.

  • Horrible
    By A3GPI6VEBUCV29 on 2008-02-15
The writing, character devlopment and story line are without emotion. The writing is on a high school level. Extremely disappointing. I do not care about the story's characters or the disposition. I quit reading half way through the novel.

  • Absolutely delicious!
    By A3OWPP8ODWAHTA on 2007-09-23
What can be better than having three sexy, Alpha-male cowboys to cherish you and protect you AND meet your every sexual need? This novel offers the ultimate fantasy for any woman who has daydreamed about strong, dominant men who know how to love and provide for their special lady. The sex is scorching hot and the story is sweetly written. My only complaint is that it's too short! Spend some time with the Colter boys, and you will be reluctant to let them go.

  • Wonderful Book
    By A3HW0QHKQA14RO on 2007-09-28
This is my first experience with this genre, unless you count amature stories I've read online and stories I've written for my own entertainment. In short, I really loved this book. It isn't high literature, but it isn't meant to be. It's great escapist fantasy. It has likeable characters, steamy love scenes, and a good plot. I admire that the relationship between the heroine and the three heroes manages to be romantic and not sleazy, but still oozes with spice. I would definately recommend this book.

  • Super HOT! Steamy read for sure!
    By A2WNHMS3W6UQA on 2008-05-31
I have never ready anything by Maya Banks prior to this book, but am always on the look out for a great erotic read. Since this book came highly recommended to me by a fellow read-aholic, I had to give it a try! This book truly fit the bill for me!!!

I found the love scenes super steamy, the characters fun and entertaining, and it even had a plot that I found engaging. The only weakness I found in this book was the lack on reality in the time it takes a man or woman to fall in love - I mean, who says they love someone they have never met before and proposes within a few short hours of meeting???!!! BUT, since reality doesn't always HAVE to play a part of a really entertaining read, it was remarkably easy to overlook. I guess, when you think about it, part of the reason people love to read so much is that it is truly an escape from reality, so it's all good!

Now a warning, this book is not for the faint of heart - it includes HEAVY erotica (including several threesome encounters with [...] sex) so if this would bother, pass this one up. However, if you are looking for something a little wicked, but with heart, this book is surely for you!!

  • RIDE'EM COWBOYS
    By A3TZ6HA75W08O4 on 2007-05-07
The Colter brothers had a unique upbringing and a different lifestyle, but honor and fidelity are ingrained in them. From the moment they find Holly half frozen in the ditch, the three brothers know she is the one. This is a fantastic and well written love story. The brothers are sensual and sexy, yet honorable protecters. If you enjoy menage with a twist, then Colter's Woman is a not so be missed book.

  • Wonderful book
    By A1CU6OHEFASNB0 on 2007-05-29
I won't re-hash the story line but there was a little bit of everything here - suspense, emotion, strong and caring men thrown in with good sex scenes. I just wish the story was longer. I didn't want it to end. I will definitely buy more of Maya Banks' books.

  • Voracious Reader
    By A1PK0TU0NBVPKS on 2007-06-04
This book was great. It starts fast and ended sweet just as I like them. The description and differences of the brothers was well done. It wasn't a deep read but it was relaxing. The three brothers are from generations and family Trees of multiple men one women relationships. Each generations hopefully finds "The" women thats right and fits all three of them, not just a plaything. The heroine of the story was a little to sweet but the overall story was good, especially if you like Menages.
