  • Amusements that will seem directed at you and how the world treats you

    By A1S3C5OFU508P3 on 2007-12-12
As those of us who have lived into middle age and beyond realize, nearly everything that happens during the day has little to no consequence at the end of it. Yet, we also forget that fact, keeping the events in our minds and turning those insignificant nothings into somethings. At least until the next day arrives delivering a new set of insignificant nothings.
This book contains a set of comments about life, its rights and wrongs. None of the comments deals with an issue of true consequence to the world, all are about the petty frustrations that we face every day. While some do make a point of some significance, most have a silliness factor that makes an amusing point. For example, on page 381 there is the one with the title, "Cat Demolition."

Giving a home to cats who spray has the same outcome as saturating the same house with gasoline and throwing a match on it. The cat-demolition method just takes longer.

Then there is the truly silly one on page 347 with the title "Hair."

Why do some people have perfect hair? Did they win it? Did they buy it? Was it permanently glued to their heads? How can I have perfect hair? Do I have time for it?

Yet it does express the obsession that so many people have about the looks of others in comparison to theirs.
If you are looking for amusement that seems directed at you and how the world seems to be treating you, then this book is an answer. However, that will work only if you approach it in the proper way, with a lack of significant seriousness.
