Falling into Youx$1.89

(217 reviews)

Best Price: $13.98 $1.89

Dion's breakthru classic album includes 2 tracks not found on the US version: "You Make Me Feel (Like A Natural Woman)" and "Your Light".

Canadian thrush Celine Dion is primarily a singles artist, which is a good thing, because the soaring, epic style she brings to nearly all of her material is thrilling in four-minute bursts, but nearly overwhelming at album length. Falling into You is Dion's finest attempt to temper that approach--mixing low-key love songs and dance pop between showstoppers such as "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and the Up Close and Personal movie theme, "Because You Loved Me." Dion's take on Tina Turner's Phil Spector experiment "River Deep, Mountain High" is game, but there's little doubt which singer hails from the Great White North and which one is from Nutbush, Tennessee. --Daniel Durchholz MPN: 67541 - UPC: 074646754122

  • Maybe Celine's best.

    By AQ9XQBOAHB999 on 2003-02-03
This album is from 1996, before the strong hit of "My heart will go on", maybe we can say that Titanic's song it's Celine's best (me personally I don't think so, the song is good but it was ALL day long in the radio stations) well as I was saying, this album has also big hits as the Top 10 "It's all coming back to me now" an INCREDIBLE song or "because you loved me" which won a Grammy award. Another great song is "You make me feel like a natural woman" I think that I don't need to say that this is a cover from A.Frankling. "Call the man" was a hit in 1997, the impact of the album was incredible, it won Grammy awards, sold nearly 20 million copies, topped The Hot 200 and charted for 150 weeks.
My personal favorite songs from this album are: "It's all coming back to me now", "I love you", "Because you loved me", "If that's what it takes" and "Falling into you".
Celine Dion is a great singer, maybe the world's best, but as a person who has her whole English discography, I think that "Falling into you" and "A new day has come" are her best albums.

  • The Album That Made Celine Dion An International Superstar!

    By A3HTX1NOTTWERP on 2003-07-03
In 1993, Celine Dion hit the big time with her album The Colour Of My Love. The album featured the massive breakthrough No.1 hit The Power Of Love, and the huge UK No.1 single Think Twice, which sold more than 1 million copies and spent a staggering 31 weeks on the chart. Expectations were high for Celine's follow-up album. Released in the spring of 1996, Falling Into You did not disappoint. The album has sold near to 30 million copies worldwide, and features some of the biggest songs of that particular decade. Celine Dion was now an international superstar, whose incredible vocal talents stunned the world. In comparison to her previous album, Falling Into You is somewhat more uptempo and joyous. The songs have more of a melody, and this works well for Celine.

Falling Into You opens with the fabulous hit single, "It's All Coming Back To Me Now.". The song peaked at No.3 in the UK in October 1996, and is one of Celine's most memorable compositions. The song runs for almost eight minutes, but it doesn't seem that long because once this powerful ballad gets going, you just fall back and enjoy every moment of it. "Because You Loved Me" was another big US No.1 for Celine in June 1996, while it peaked at No.5 in the UK. The song is the theme from the film Up Close And Personal, and it is literally perfect. The lyrical arrangements are beautifully crafted, and Celine's vocals are gorgeous - truly the voice of an angel. "Falling Into You," the album's title track, is another superb song. This mid-tempo classic has a soft touch to it, and a feeling of ambiguity and mysticism as it opens with African drums. The song simply sways with simplicity, and Celine's vocals are awesome once more. The song rises and falls in the middle when Celine sings, "Catch me, don't let me drop. Love me, don't ever stop." We are then treated to a sensual saxophone which really spices things up. Excellent. "Make You Happy" is perhaps the best up-tempo song on the album. Celine sings about making her lover happy in this happy pop number. All these silly pop bands that crave attention in today's music terms should take a listen to this - it's truly pop perfection.

"Seduces Me" is a staggering love ballad. Celine performs this classy song to her optimum best with vocal supremacy when she sings, "And if I should die tomorrow, I'd go down with a smile on my face." Great lyrics, even if she doesn't write them herself. "All By Myself" is...well, wow. This cover-version really does need no introduction. Celine sings for three minutes in a rather subdued tone about how she hates being all alone. Then the song rises, and Celine belts the song out from the bottom of her heart, practically smashing your CD speakers. Her voice is absolutely amazing, and I don't think I've ever heard anything so god-damn wonderful before in my life! Classic ballad. "Declaration Of Love" is another great pop song. This has a sort of old pop sound to it. It sounds very vintage with its (rather) corny vocal arrangements, but this is Celine Dion we're talking about and she can pull anything off. Celine's cover of "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman" is not quite as good as the original, but her vocals rival even those of Aretha, not quite pulling it off, but very close. "Dreamin' Of You" is definitely an album highlight. This is pure pop personified, but Celine does it so well. The music is so relaxing and chilled out, and the backing singers highlight this. The verses are co-ordinated well, and Celine's vocals are rather average. This isn't a bad thing, however, as this is the kind of song that one desires to relax to - not to be distracted by epic vocals.

"I Love You" is a great mid-tempo song. The song is more of a ballad, but it contains so many different musical styles that it makes it hard to decipher. Whatever it is, you're sure to love this wonderful love song. "If That's What It Takes" is not a very good song. This is basically a filler, but Celine's vocals save it from being terrible. "I Don't Know" is a spine-tingling chiller of a rock ballad. Celine's vocals echo, and you get the impression that she's singing it as she stands on the top of a mountain with the world at her feet. A saxophone and an electric guitar enhance the epic feel of this song. Definite highlight. "River Deep, Mountain High" is a good cover-version of Tina Turner's classic. This version is not as good, and Celine seems to try desperately to beat Tina in the vocal stakes. Besides this, the song has a modern feel to it, which is rather interesting. "Your Light" is a great pop song. This song is sung in a sort of country style, in which Celine's vocals seem forced to sounds traditionally American. Not bad, but not an album highlight. This album closes with "Call The Man" and "Fly." The former was the fifth and final single to released from the album in the UK, and it's not really one of my favourites. A bit too slow and moody. The latter is a short and sweet diamond in which Celine's vocals stay low and in a whispering tone. The song is about Celine's close relative, Karine, who died of Cystic Fibrosis.

    OVERALL GRADE: 9/10

Falling Into You is a definite highlight album of the 1990's, and one of the biggest selling! There are only a few female albums of the 1990's that top Falling Into You in terms of sales, and these are Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill," Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack," Celine's own "Let's Talk About Love" and Shania Twain's mammoth "Come On Over." It's quite an achievement when thinking of what Celine Dion has achieved in the past decade. She is a 150-million-selling, Grammy-award winning international superstar, with the talent, the family, the wealth and the looks to add to this. She is truly one in a million, and Falling Into You is essential for all fans of ballads, and even just for those who are interested in very good music.

  • The Best from Celine

    By A36RS7KTNOBROF on 2000-06-17
I bought this CD after hearing"Because you loved me,"by Diane Warren.A wonderfull song from the movie,"Up Close and Personal." (If you ever look at the Billboard charts, just check out how many songs are written by Diane, what a talent) When I First played the CD,and "Its all coming back to be now," came on, I was hooked. What a fantastic song by Meat Loafs producer Jim Steinman.I just hate to hear this song on the radio, they cut it terrible.(In my mind,I think this would have been a great opening number for Barbra Streisand to sing when she made her concert comeback in the early 90's.About leaving her fans, but returning where she left off,and its all coming back to her now.) If anyone thinks Celine can just sing Ballads, wait untill you hear "River Deep,Mountain High." This was Tina Turner's big hit,but Celine brings down the house with her version, and mentions Tina in the song. When you get to the last song, and "Fly" comes on, you will have tears in your eyes.My Mom died shortly before this record came out,and I think about her going to The Light. I have four Celine Dion records, but this one's the best.

  • Celine's Best

    By ATY9BK7MKHREX on 2004-08-21
'Falling Into You' is, without a doubt, Celine's best work to date. The lyrics are timeless, the melodies are classic, and her voice is superb. I am not lying when I say this is my absolute favourite album to date. Because I've owned in since its 1996 release, I know every bit of every song off by heart, and I could never even imagine not owning this CD. The thing which Celine takes the most hits for is the fact that she doesn't write her own songs. I do hold a certain respect for musicians who are able to both sing and write, or at least give an effort into the writing process. True, Celine doesn't write, but she has one of the most amazing voices of our time, and the songwriters who contributed to 'Falling Into You' are amazingly talented. Coupled together, that's what makes this album a masterpiece.

The album begins with the seven minute, 37 second power ballad 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now'. It's a magnificent, beautiful choice to start the album with. Written by Jim Steinman, Celine delivers the goods with her powerful voice. Who knows if the story of a past lover returning is true or not, either way, Celine makes listeners believe in what she's singing. The second track, 'Because You Loved Me' is one of Celine's most famous songs. If not the most memorable, it's certainly tied for first (along with the likes of 'If You Asked Me To' and 'My Heart Will Go On'). It was written by the fantastically talented Diane Warren, and was the theme from the film 'Up Close & Personal'. Next comes the title track of the album, 'Falling Into You'. This is quite a slow, sultry, and altogether extremely sexy song. Both Celine's vocals and the music provide an atmosphere that almost seems reminiscent of a dream.

'Make You Happy' is the fourth song , and the first up-beat track on the album. The lyrics and music go very well with Celine's voice, and showcase her talent at performing, not only slow songs, but faster ones as well. The fifth track, Seduces Me' follows much the same form as 'Falling Into You'. Both are slow, and sensual. Celine's voice breathes throughout the track beautifully and calmly in barely more than a whisper. It's an exquisite song. 'All By Myself' is a remake of Eric Carmen's timeless classic. Celine delivers the immortal song passionately and truthfully, and the end result is simply amazing. 'Declaration of Love' is another one of the more up-beat tracks found on 'Falling Into You'. Written by Michael Jay and Claude Gaudette, the lyrics are fun and Celine manages to pull off the fast track surprisingly well. The eighth song, 'Dreamin' of You' is one of my favourite tracks on the album. The vocals are amazing, the music is beautiful, and the lyrics are sweet and charming.

'I Love You' is the second of three songs Aldo Nova wrote on 'Falling Into You' (he co-wrote 'Dreamin' of You' and single-handedly wrote 'I Love You' and 'Your Light'). It opens beautifully with the lyrics "I must be crazy now/Maybe I dream too much/But when I think of you/I long to feel your touch". It's among the best on the album. The tenth song on the album is 'If That's What it Takes'. The music is absolutely breathtaking, and the song as a whole is deeply touching and romantic. 'I Don't Know' is among my personal favourite tracks. Lyrically, it's about knowing you can face many different obstacles (including "the bitter cold" and "love in vain") but unsure as to whether you can live without someone. The music is simple and fits well with the lyrics and vocals. 'River Deep, Mountain High' is a remake of Tina Turner's classic. Celine plays tribute to Tina by altering one of the lines to "just like Tina loves to sing", and pulls off the track unexpectedly well.

'Your Light' is a great track. It's very up-beat and country in sound, which doesn't make someone think of Celine Dion, but she makes it her own, and the end result is stunning. 'Call The Man' is, without a doubt, the best song on the entire album. It's painfully heart wrenching and magnificently sung. The lyrics are meaningful and deep, and Celine makes you believe in what she's singing. Take the opening verse for instance,

    "Close the door
    Shut the world away
All the fight's gone from this
    Wounded heart
    Across the floor
    Dreams and shadows play
    Like wind-blown refugees"

Spectacular. The last song on the album is 'Fly'. It's dedicated to Celine's niece, Karine, who died of Cystic Fibrosis. It's sweet and sad. Celine sings it slowly and quietly, almost as if she's on the verge of tears. A beautiful song choice for the end of the album.

Overall, this is a stunning album. It's an absolute masterpiece, and I recommend it to everyone. If you're a fan of Celine Dion, you should already own this album, as it is, by far, her best work. If you don't already own 'Falling Into You', rush out and buy it now! You won't be disappointed.

    THE FINAL VERDICT: 99%

  • Celine Dion ROX

    By A1OEIM295OUOU9 on 2001-04-30
Being a huge Celine Dion fan, I have all of her CDs and FIY is one of my top three faves. Here's a rundown of the songs:

    1. It's All Coming Back to me Now - This song is loud, but it's really good. Celine sings it with a powerful voice and this song prooves what a strong voice she has.

    2. Because You Loved Me - the love theme to Up Close and Personal. It was overplayed on the radio when the movie came out, but it's still a great song.

    3. Falling Into You - has a great beat, awesome song.

    4. Make You Happy - Very catchy, you'll be singing along to it in no time.

    5. Seduces Me - a very sexy song, great vocals.

    6. All By Myself - Personally I think Celine does a better job than Eric Carmen or whoever it was that sung this song before her.

    7. Declaration of Love - kind of reminds me of a poppish country song. Very cute and fun.

    8. Dreaming of You - I luv this song even though it may sound too bubble gummish.

    9. I Love You - reminds me of a 50s song, but very awesome.

    10. If That's What It Takes - this is the English version of "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore" (I like the French version better)

    11. I Don't Know - Awesome song! Another one that showcases her strong vocal skills.

    12. River Deep, Mountain High - Okay, I'm going to get shredded for this, but I like her version better than Tina Turner's.

    13. Call the Man - I didn't like this song at first, but it grew on me.

    14. Fly - very sweet spiritual song dedicated to her niece who died.

  • Falling Into Celine
    By A3AULZR988WY1J on 2006-03-24
This album introduced me to Celine Dion. That day I purchased the album, I was supposed to get Mariah Carey's 'Daydream' but the retailer said they ran out of copies, so I picked this album instead--and boy, I was in for a surprise! I ended buying more copies of Celine's because I enjoyed it so much. From then on, I became a Celine fan, and I can say that 'Falling Into You' is her most definitive work--focused, poised, powerful and solid. This album displays Celine's vocals in top form.

My favorite moments from the album: there are 2 epics in the album, and svengali producer Jim Steinman helmed these: 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now' and 'Call The Man' in which Celine plays storyteller of love forgotten and weary souls amidst an amazing backdrop of instrumentation, singing with so much emotion and gusto! 'Declaration of Love' and 'River Deep Mountain High' may seem like cheesy over the top diva-uptempos but these ditties are so irresistible that you'll be singing at the top of your lungs in no time. 'Fly' is wrenching and touching ballad dedicated to Celine's niece who died of cystic fibrosis. The song is so ethereal, surreal and poignant you'll be reaching for the tissues. My ultimate favorite is the subtle 'If That's What It Takes', the simplest and honest song Celine made for the set. Others may disregard the song, but I think is my diamond in the rough. I highly recommend this album to pop music lovers. This album didnt win the Album of the Year at the Grammy's for no reason! Pick this up and fall in love with Celine.

  • Positively Celine's Best CD to date
    By on 2000-05-27
I purchased this CD in 1996 when Celine's popularity was slowly rising. Despite the fact that over four years have elapsed, it still happens to be one of my most frequently listened-to CDs.

'Falling Into You' happens to be my all-time favorite song. This is largely attributed to its enchanting rythm and sweet, if somewhat sad, melody.

While the entire CD is very enjoyable, certain tracks are exceptionally good. They are:

1)It's all coming back to me now-This rather long song (over 7 mins long!) is an extremely powerful song which is truly emotion-packed.

2)Because you loved me-The OST of 'Up, Close and Personal' is different from most songs in the sense that it both the chorus and verses are of roughly the same tune. The repetition, suprisingly, effectively enhances this song.

4)Make You Happy-A cheerful and song which shows that Celine's voice is not limited to love ballads.

11)If That's What It Takes-Even though the original french version (Pour Que Tu Maimes Encore) is slightly better, Celine injects just as emotion in this song.

14)Fly-Strangely enough, this version is more, if not, as passionate, than the one found in Deux (Vole).

All in all, I strongly feel this CD outdoes all her others, the phenomenally-successful 'Let's Talk About Love' included.

  • Simply amazing @}->---
    By A24ZFFRQ4MG3XL on 2006-09-01
One of the most stunning cd's I own, is Falling Into You. It's so fantastic and has so many great songs on it. You know how sometimes you have a great cd but you don't like all the songs on it? Well for me, this isn't the case. I love them all. And considering this has 16 songs on it, it's a great testament on how great Celine is. Maybe she doesn't write her own music, but she sings so incredibly well.
If I had to pick my usual three best songs, I'd say they are If That's What It Takes, I Don't Know and Call The Man. It's hard to narrow it down to only three good songs because they are all good. There are her usual powerful ballads (Seduces Me, Because You Loved Me to name a few) and some more upbeat songs like Declaration Of Love and River Deep, Mountain High. A really classy song is It's All Coming Back To Me Now. It's 7.37 minutes long but it's amazing. Yes I know some people can't appreciate her talent, but if you are someone how enjoys a powerful singer with a good range and ability, then this is for you. It's so good and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

  • Falling Into Celine
    By A15QVCK1OS5J7D on 2000-04-10
An absoltue gem of an album. The opening track (It's All Coming Back To Me Now) is written and directed by Jim Steinman and is an amazing epic masterpiece. Then she soars into the Diane Warren ballad "Because You Loved Me" used in the film Up Close and Personal- originally offered to Toni Braxton. This track leads to the title song: Falling Into You. Her touching rendition of "All By Myself" is just one of the many reasons you should buy this album. It holds such immense power, through the singing, directing, and the instrumetals. The only song missing would be the Olympic Song "The Power of the Dream" with which she openef the 1996 Olympics, but we can hear that on the single to "It's All Coming Back To Me Now". Other covers include, Natural Woman (originally Carole King) and River Deep, Mountain High- which belonged to the unforgettable Tina Turner. This album is one you should definitely hear- of only for the song Declaration of Love!

  • Falling Never Sounded So Good
    By A29TNAVMPYFRDF on 2001-07-16
Though Celine Dion had steadily built a strong commercial following with her first three English language albums, FALLING INTO YOU was the beginning of her world domination as the planet's preeminent pop vocalist. Though her first three albums contained definite gems, there were also alot of duds(her last two cds contained nine--yes NINE--songs penned by schlock-mistress Diane Warren). This is her first truly great recording from beginning to end. Seemingly channeling the spirit of Meat Loaf(oh wait, he's still alive-oops), she tears into opening track 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now', and the results aren't nearly as cheesy as one might suspect. There's only one Warren song here, that being 'Because You Loved Me', which actually remains one of her better compositions, and Dion's biggest hit to date. Among covers, her take on 'All By Myself' supercedes the original, and though 'River Deep, Mountain High' somewhat falters under Jim Steinman's cheesy, bombastic production, Dion does manage a valiant vocal effort, something consistent throughout the album. It's easy to see why Dion remains a moving target with critics(the follow-up,LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE, though a massive commerical success, was for the most part a dud), but those who know her only in passing should investigate this sterling disc, which remains the benchmark in her sometimes spotty catalog.

  • One of 1990's Pop Peaks (4.5 stars)
    By A2EL3990HXOMZB on 2002-10-29
With "Falling Into You", Celine Dion has set a very high standard which proves very difficult to beat even by herself. "Let's Talk About Love" and "A New Day Has Come" albums came close, but did not quite match the variety and overall quality of this one. Unbiased listening to this pre-Titanic set of songs makes a music fan acknowledge Celine's superstar status.

The first six songs as such -- and also their sequence, presenting the singer in six different vocal environments following one another in the best possible way -- are hands down one of the coolest things to happen to pop in 1990's. It begins with the opening Jim Steinman's MeatLoaf-ish epic "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and ends with the cover of Eric Carmen's "All By Myself". In between, there is also the signature Diane Warren track "Because You Loved Me", the danceable "Make You Happy" and two of the best cuts here: the title track with haunting percussions and Celine's truly definitive interpretation and dramatic latin-tinged guitar ballad "Seduces Me".

Aldo Nova contributed two songs (and a third one on the international version of this CD), of which "I Love You" is interesting with its simple, plain beauty of songwriting and vocal treatment. The songbird also remade three of her tracks from 1995 French Album (D'Eux). Although the result here is okay, French language and original arrangements somehow work better for the French versions.

Another highlight of the set is the cover of Tina Turner's breakthrough "River Deep, Mountain High" which should convince all of Celine's ability to sing next to anything. And before this tour de force comes to a tender end with "Fly", African chants are featured in the power ballad "Call the Man". This tune also boasts the short but glorious acoustic guitar solo by Ottmar Liebert. A real treat.

The elaborate production is what basically makes this album sound so good. But the 1996 Album of the Year Grammy was by no means undeserved. One can just wish there were more albums like this -- at the same time commercial and honest work of art.

  • Celine's best album
    By A371Q0WXNET2TP on 2002-12-31
This was the first Celine album that I ever brought, and IMO the best one she's ever done. A lot of other people think so, it's sold over 30 million copies worldwide and spun three hits.

    1. It's All Coming Back To Me Now (5/5). The song that got me hooked. I saw the video on VH1 six years ago and it was absolutely breathtaking. Celine showcases her voice in this song like no other and the lyrics are great.

    2. Because You Loved Me (5/5). The second-best on the album, this is a gorgeous mid-tempo song with uplifting lyrics and a great performance by Celine.

    3. Falling Into You (4.5/5). A sensual, rhythmic song, the album's title track is great. The African drums in the background are haunting.

    4. Make You Happy (5/5). The album's first real upbeat tune, this one is a winner, with it's reggae-like instrumentation and upbeat lyrics. Of course, Celine takes the song to another level with her vocals.

    5. Seduces Me (5/5). Aaaaah, if you want a [nice], romantic song, this is the one for you. The lone strumming of the guitar in the background and Celine's low-key, sensual performance make this another winner.

    6. All By Myself (4/5). If you wanna hear Celine take her voice WAY up there, listen to this remake of Eric Carmen's 1975 classic. It's wonderful. However, the live version is better, and if that were on here, it would be 5 stars.

    7. Declaration of Love (4.5/5). A feel-good song if there ever was one, especially after the angst of "All By Myself". The positive lyrics and Celine's voice fit together like a glove.

    8. Dreaming of You (5/5). Here begins the "big ballad three" section of the album. This song is gorgeous. The lyrics are powerfully written and the music produced lushly, and Celine sings it wonderfully.

    9. I Love You (5/5). OMG, I LOVE THIS SONG!! Passionate lyrics, gorgeous, powerful music and Celine's impassioned delivery make this the #3 song on the album.

    10. If That's What It Takes (5/5). An English version of Celine's big French-language hit "Por Que Tu M'aimes Encore", this song is a bit quieter than the other two, but it isn't any less lovely. The simple lyrics are great and Celine performs beautifully.

    11. I Don't Know (4.5/5). This one is the translation of "Je Sais Pas", and a bit more direct translation than the preceding song. I really like this song.

    12. River Deep, Mountain High (4/5). Does Celine do this one better than Tina Turner? Of course not. But she does a darn good job on this one anyway. This one ROCKS!!

    13. Call The Man - (5/5). A truly beautiful song. The lyrics are emotional and heartfelt, while Celine turns in a vocal performance with shades of both vulnerability and strength in one instance. The choir adds a wall of sound that just adds to it all.

    14. Fly (5/5). A real tear-jerker, this is the song dedicated to her niece, who died of cystic fibrosis. It is so emotional that I get a lump in my throat whenever I listen to it. This song is translated from "Vole".

TRACKS ON CANADIAN RELEASE THAT I HAVE

Natural Woman (4/5). While Celine does not do this better than Aretha Franklin (who could do it better, anyway?), she does a really good job with it.

Your Light (5/5). This is an upbeat gem that should have been on all releases. Celine sings very well on this one and the lyrics are great.

  • The Album That Made Her A Superstar
    By AADJXNY9HSKJF on 2003-03-30
Celine Dion was definitely already a well established star vefore this album. She was coming off the successful "Colour of My Love" album which had gone multi-platinum and given her her first #1 hit with "The Power of Love." But it was "Falling Into You" which made her a worldwide phenomenon. It gave her three monster hits which weren't only huge hits at adult contemporary *as most of her singles are* but they were all huge on pop radio too all making the top 5. "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" kicks it off with its original extended version. Celine's vocal performance is amazing and it's an epic song if ever there was one. "Because You Loved Me" became Celine's biggest hit to date going to #1 and has became a classic love song. "All By Myself" definitely stands out and is one of my favorite Celine tracks. She belts it out like there's no tomorrow and the composition is outstanding. Still, the highlight is without a doubt "River Deep Mountain High" which was originally done by Tina Turner. The song itself is icredible and it definitely displays Celine in her element. A classic. It's worth buying the album alone. But what makes this album so great is the filler is just as good as the singles. "Declaration of Love" is a fun sort of jazzy, upbeat track. "I Love You" is a 50's-ish ballad with sweet vocals from Celine and "Call the Man" is a gorgeous, catchy ballad with a great chorus. The album closes with "Fly" dedicated to Celine's niece who passed away from cystic fibrosis. A beautiful tear-jerker.

This is a land-mark album in pop music. It represents everything that makes it so great. There is no excuse to miss out on such a great piece of work. Great work from one of the best voices in music history.

  • Celine's Masterpiece
    By A1FML9FCUPV6TI on 2001-10-14
FALLING INTO YOU is one of Celine's best, if not the best CD she's ever released. It was a long wait, since 1993's COLOUR OF MY LOVE, but it was well worth the wait. Starting with the first single "Because You Loved Me" also featured in the movie UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, a beautiful ballad which Celine shines on vocally, the song was written by Diane Warren. The follow up single "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" is breathtaking, the vocals are perfect and the arrangement is excellent. Throughout the album there is excellent material over and over. On ballads like "If That's What It Takes" or "I Don't Know", once again she shines with excellent vocals and perfect arrangements in the song. The last two tracks especially take my breath away, the gospel style "Call The Man", and the resonance of "Fly", simply beautiful. Her rendition of "All By Myself", is superb. As well on FALLING INTO YOU there are excellent uptempo songs such as "Your Light" (only on certain versions of the album), "River Deep Mountain High", "Make You Happy", "Declaration of Love" and many others. This is most likely her best album, there is not one filler song to be found, just quality in the production and arrangements, as well as her vocals, which are at top form.

  • One to avoid

I've never been a fan of Celine Dion but I was surprised at how uniformly bad this CD is. Some of the songs might be reasonably good sung by someone else, but this woman has the ability of turning everything she touches into the worst kind of syrupy schlock. This has to be the most pretentious, overblown and ultimately ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. Miss Dion has a very powerful voice and she can certainly carry a tune, but she doesn't know the meaning of the word subtlety, and that is essential for a singer. Despite all her wailing she doesn't manage to convey any feeling at all. This woman can scream all right, but she can't sing.

  • I'm falling into this album
    By A2R0K6TMS3XMY8 on 2001-12-25
Since I am a HUGE Celine fan ,I already almost have all of her English-language CDs(Plus a few french ones) and Falling Into You is one the best albums that Celine Dion has released in this decade! But some songs were left out of the U.S. versions that aren't on the U.S. versions like.. "Your Light" , "You Make Me Feel (Like A Natural Woman" and To Love You More (Which is on the U.S. versions of Let's Talk About Love & which is on the Japanese versions of Falling into You) So there are 16 tracks in all. And also there are 3 English songs on this album that are in French on the CD called The French Album (or D'Eux) and they are, If that's what it takes "pour que tu m'aimes encore", i dont know "je sais pas" , fly "vole!" I like the french versions better and I'm sure everyone else who is a Celine fan ,does too. Anways buy this Falling Into You CD if you don't have it! It's worth every penny, trust me. Don't listen to those people who say not to buy this album!!!!! JUST BUY IT:-). I hope this review was helpful for those of you who don't have the CD!

My favorite tracks are, "Because You Loved Me" , "Falling Into You" , and "It's All Coming Back To Me Now"

    Bravo Celine:)

  • Universal appeal
    By A383FNXYKC37DV on 2004-06-18
I admit I got burned on a couple of Celine's earliest albums--where only one song was really good. But this has to be Celine's best album--every single song is great! Put it on, chill out and enjoy!

What's also interesting is that the 3rd most popular song in France of the last 15 years (Pour que tu m'aimes encore) is on this album as "Whatever it Takes" (It's got a slightly different slant, but it's just as good in French! If you'd like to hear the French version, it's on the "French Album" here at Amazon.com--USA, and it's on the original album, called "D'eux" at Amazon.com.fr.)

Bottom line: Whether she sings in English or French, whether the listener is American, Canadian, French, Swiss, Belgian, or whatever, Celine has universal appeal!

  • Fantastic!

  • better as a whole than ANY Mariah or Whitney album
    By A343WUP274JSP3 on 2006-04-05
I am not the biggest Celine Dion fan, I'll actually go on record and say I haven't liked anything after Let's Talk About Love. However, My mom used to own this cd and I heard it so much that I ended up buying my own copy.

From the bombastic Steinman production of "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" (which has to be heard in the full version), to the beautiful and sentimental "Because You Loved Me" to the poignant "Fly" to the fantastic "Call The Man" to "All By Myself", where Celine made one of the most dreadfully sappy 70's songs her own and made it good, to the soulful (and to think Mariah fans attack Celine for being "too vanilla", whatever) "Declaration Of Love" to the sexy "Seduces Me"... Celine Dion was able to do something the big voice divas usually are incapable of making... an album that is consistant.

Even though all together, I think there are more Mariah and Whitney songs out there that I like, neither of them has ever delivered an album as killer and consistant as this (I say these two because those are perhaps the biggest rivals Celine has in age and fanbase). I think the whole world became a Celine fan after this album. I also like "Let's Talk About Love" too but that album pales next to this record. It deserved it's Grammy IMO.

THE FINAL SONG ON CELINE DION'S (FALLING INTO YOU) CD IS ENTITLED, "FLY" AND I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS NOT BECOME A HIT SONG OF HERS. IT IS PERFECTLY BEAUTIFUL AND ANYONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED A DEATH IN THEIR FAMILY OR FRIENDS NEEDS TO HEAR THIS. IT IS HEART WRENCHING YET VERY CALMING AND SHOULD BE HEARD AT FUNERAL SERVICES ALL THE TIME. LISTEN TO IT. IT IS MARVELOUS.

  • One Of Celine's Best
    By on 2000-04-17
Falling Into You contains some of Celine's best work. I live in Canada so I own the Canadian version of the cd, which contains a bonus track that the American version of the cd does not have. Its a great upbeat song called "Your Light".

The other songs are awesome, but my favorites are Call The Man and Fly, both powerful songs where Celine shines. Because You Loved Me and Its All Coming Back To Me Now are also great. All By Myself is a great song, I love her version of it. Overall Celine has clearly took time with this cd and I reccomend it to those who dont already have it in their collection.

  • 7 Words--"It's All Coming Back to Me Now"
    By A2W4W3VL1212R1 on 2000-01-08
THAT makes the whole CD, that one song... one of THE greatest songs EVER, "It's All Coming Back to Me Now". Apart from that song, about half of them are good and half of them aren't worth listening to. Again though, if for no other reason than "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", get this CD!

  • I can't stop listening to it!
    By A182O6NXIQSBTC on 2000-01-13
Celine Dion has been typecast as just singing mushy ballads, but one listen to this CD will tell anyone who cares to notice that she's got a lot more depth to her. There's a great variety of tunes here - upbeat and sweeping. This album marks true artistry for Celine - her earlier ones are good, but don't reach the heights that she does beginning with this album.

  • This Is One GREAT CD!
    By A2RHLAPN5BB6EV on 1999-12-17
Celine Dion has the most amazing voice. She puts a lot of feelings into her songs. I think it's great that there are CD's out there like this one, where you can just sit down and relax and listen to some love songs. It's bad enough that there is all that other junk out there that only sings about cheating on one-another or getting even with each other or worse. Keep up the good work Celine and I hope you come back to us soon.

  • Liked her for a long time, but just now buying her CD's
    By AHUT55E980RDR on 2001-06-20
I am really getting to love this gal. The very first cut had me completely mesmerized due to her heartbreakingly dramatic delivery. And then the very familiar "Just Say You Love Me"...the CD just goes on and on with strong likeable material, including my favorite, "All By Myself". There is a strong balance in the CD, alternating between the strongest and the more mellow. I only have two Celine CD's so far, but will definitely have more.

  • this is one of celine's finest
    By A6P74FB5ZXMW8 on 2002-02-15
Falling into you is one of Mrs.Dion's finest album that she has released!! I also have ALOT of her other album's, too. I'm a HUGE fan of Celine, I've been a HUGE fan of her since 1997, since I heard the Titanic theme song. Anyways I'll give a review of some of my favorite songs that are on this album!!

    2. Because You Loved Me ~ This is the theme of the movie "Up Close & Personal" , very wonderful song.

    3. falling Into You ~ The title track of this album. very beautiful ballad.

    4. make you happy ~ very poppish song. it's one of my favorites!

    8. dreamin' of you ~ beautiful song.

    11. I don't know ~ this is another one of my favorites. there is also the french version of this one, it is found on "The French Album/Duex CD"

    13. Call The Man ~ This one is my third favorite song, very beautiful one!

As you can see this album is truely one of her finest. And just to let you know her new album "A New Day Has Come" is coming out this March 26 2002 in The US, and on March 25 in Canada!! So please buy this album and do yourself a favor and buy her Falling into you CD and her new one coming out this March!!Thankyou/Merci!! :-)CELINE YOU ARE MY FAVORITE NUMBER ONE SINGER. YOU RULE CELINE!!

  • A Passionate Piece of Work
    By A1ARA52HB238HT on 2002-03-09
Celine Dion's 1996 release FALLING INTO YOU keep making it back to my CD player. This is an unforgettable album--a compilation that is full of passion. Dion vocalizes this passion thorough her strong voice. The album kicks off with the breathtaking 7:37 Track 01-IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW written by Jim Steinman. The music will catches your attention right away and creates an element of suspense before Celine sings the first note. This original unabridged version is by far the best as the promo edit we have heard on radio was terribly cut. In fact the song doesn't even sound like it is 7:37 long.

The most popular and widely aired piece from this album is Track 02-BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME (Theme from Up Close & Personal). You've probably heard it at wedding, birthday party and farewell function. Diane Warren wrote this affectionate piece and no doubt the song stayed in chart for quite a while back then. I particularly like the lyrics that is almost an ode to friendship. Very inspiring and heart-warming piece.

I know many have commented on this album and some really like Track 03-Falling Into You. Honestly I do not really like this title track all that much. It might be a change of tone from the two previous tracks but I personally think both music and lyrics-wise this track is nothing compared to IT's ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW and BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME. I guess the major reason is that the song doesn't touch me as much as the previous two do. Track 04-MAKE YOU HAPPY and Track 05-SEDUCES ME are again somewhat dull and banal. These two tracks contribute to the reason why I have taken out a star for this album.

Track 07-DECLARATION OF LOVE is a candid cute performance. The song is more upbeat and rock-n-roll like. My other favorites are Track 08-DREAMIN' OF YOU and Track 09-I LOVE YOU. These two songs are very similar that I didn't remember which one was which after listening to the album for a year. Both are very passionate expression of love and sentiment. I particularly like Celine's high pitch in DREAMIN' OF YOU.

Talk about music that pulsates in your head and makes your heart throb, the two final cuts Track 13-CALL THE MAN and Track 14-FLY will just do. These two songs are beautiful in a very sad mood. I do not own all of Celine's albums but I can assure that this is a very well-done one. I'm sure it touches many souls.

  • Containing the most beautiful song ever
    By A6MGFSH8CX1HE on 2002-12-12
I wont go to much in personal Details, but my first love had this cd, and we listened to it all night. And there were one song we played over and over, and that was the brilliant masterpiece "It`s all coming back to me now". Written by the Mastermind behind Meatloaf, Jim Steinman, this haunting song is fantastic. Celine does her strongest performance on this, filling every note with a force to be reckoned with. No other singer in the world could have done this so perfectly like Celine.
If you got no idea of how the song sounds like, think a "I`d do anything for love" version sung by Celine Dion, but a little bit faster and dramatic. The Choir is there, the Piano, the powerful chords and the light "angel-like" parts. It is the most beautiful song ever.
It alone gives this CD a 5`er.

So to rest assured Celine deserves the highest mark, I can get on to the rest of the album.
The other great songs on the album, is "Falling into you" which is another song featuring lovely sax playing! Makes me shiver everytime.
Then we got the melancolic "Seduces me" and the classic "All by Myself". Much better than the versions sung by men, those sounds dull.
The Lovely "(You make me feel like A) Natural Woman", with a great chorus. I can feel the R&B coming right thru the speakers.
"I dont Know" is a wonderful, slow and sad song.
"Your Light" is an upbeat catchy but still wonderful song, with an interesting verse. The Chorus is a bit to clichè for me, but the song is neverthless one of my favorites on the album. Finally, the short little diamond, "Fly". It sounds so sweet, and Celine keeps her voice down, which gives her a whisperlike voice. Beautiful.

The songs I didnt care to much about, is "Because you Loved Me", "Make you Happy", "Declaration of Life", "Dreamin of You", "I love you", "If That`s what it takes", "River Deep, Mountain High" and "Call the Man". Now there is ONE question I have to ask. Why on Earth do Celine have to ruin the records with the noisy songs in the middle of the silent and calm ones? On this record, she does it with the horrible "River Deep, Mountain Deep", a song originally recorded by Tina Turner. As said, the problem here is that this song isnt exactly laidback, slow and fitting. It`s noisy, and destroys the whole mood. You will probably jump too, it comes right in after "I dont know".
This is the same problem as in "Let`s talk about Love", where "Treat her like a lady" appears from nothing and ruins everything, all the mood the record built up destroyed in a second. Why?

Oh well, this is a minor flaw with the record, besides from that, this is superb stuff. Celine sounds simply great. The thing about Celine`s album, is that all the songs are written by different writers, making it impossible to love everything. Thats why I rate this a 5, even with all the songs I didnt like, because if I ask a friend, he/she will like other songs. This is also the case on Lets Talk about Love, which I strongly recommends too. But for now, run out, buy this cd, and engulf yourself with "It`s all coming back to me Now". You will soon discover that this is Celine`s best song.

  • Falling Into You is her best album yet!!
    By AGMJQ3BDVVJWC on 2003-03-04
Falling Into You is my favorite album by Mrs. Celine Dion!!!! She is the best singer, with the best voice. If you wanna know what the songs are like read the previews below:

    1. It's all coming back to me now - This song is 7 minutes long! It's a long song, but Celine shows off her vocals here.

    2. Because you loved me - I so love this song, it's a beautiful ballad!

    3. Falling into you - A romantic song!

    4. Make you happy - A poppish song, it sounds pretty good. I like it!

    5. Seduces me - A sexy romantic song, sung by Celine.

    6. All by myself - I love this song! It's really good.

    7. Declaration of love - This song is cool!

    8. Dreamin' of you - One of my favorite songs on here, i love the background music to it and Celine's voice fits it well.

    9. I love you - A wonderful song!

    10. If that's what it takes - The english version of Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore, i like both versions!

    11. I don't know - This is also the english version of Je Sais Pas, i like both versions!

    12. River Deep, Mountain High - This was Tina Turner's song but Celine re-did it her way, I like Celine's way!

    13. Your light - I love this song! It's another one of my favorites. It's only on canadian versions though, sry.

    14. Call the man - This song is a good ballad. Nice! I used to not like it along time ago when I first heard it on the computer. But now I love it!

    15. Fly - A sad song about Celine's niece Karine who died from Cystic Fibrosis in 1993.

As you can see this CD totally rocks! I have had this CD burned for me by another Celine friend online, and she had the canadian version so thats how I got your light on mine! :) Anyways, I suggest you BUY this CD right away, don't wait! Celine you rock girl!
PS. Any song by Celine is worth listening to!!

  • Best Album from Celine Dion
    By A3Q9WINC6Q8YP6 on 2005-10-27
I guess this album is one of the best albums ever released by a female vocalist (well, it may not be so if you are not a pop fan, its alright!)

Personally, I love the song 'Because You Loved Me'. I am so embarassed to say that I get to know Celine Dion through this song but not her previous hits like The Power Of Love or Beauty And The Beast. When I first this song, I was so in love with the song, lyrics, the voice and the rythmn. From then on, I started to like Celine's songs. No doubt this song/album deserved recognition from all the major award presentation.

Another song which I love is All By Myself, a true song to challenge a singer's voice and ability. Celine managed to handle the song so well that I was amazed by her powerful voice as well as the way she presented the song.

Personally, I give 5 stars to this album, I guess none of my CD collections in my cupboard can out beat this album because too many great songs in the album, namely 'Because You Loved Me', 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now', 'Dreamin's Of You', 'Call The Man', 'I Love You', 'You Make Me Feel Like (A Natural Woman)', 'All By MySelf'.
