Me Against the Worldx$10.73

(243 reviews)

Best Price: $18.97 $10.73

The gruesome details surrounding Tupac's third solo offering are enough to give any music fan the willies. Released when Tupac was in jail serving time for a rape conviction and just after his recovery from being shot-up gangland-style at a recording studio, this was his most introspective piece of work to date. The heavy-hearted album opens up with a radio commentary describing the circumstances surrounding his shooting, and then plunges headfirst into Pac's infatuation with death. "So Many Tears," "Death Around the Corner," and "If I Die 2Nite" are all dark, eerily prophetic tunes that lend credence to widespread theories which suggest that Pac anticipated his impending death. The perpetually thugged-out wonder reveals a more benevolent side when it comes to gender and family issues. On "Dear Mama"--a fitting tribute to his mother recorded in the "Keep Ya Head Up" vein--Pac takes listeners into the loving recesses of his heart, while on "Can U Get Away," he echoes similar respectful sentiments to black womynkind. This is probably Pac's most progressive issues-oriented release before he signed to Death Row and became a full-blown thug. --Dalton Higgins MPN: 41636 - UPC: 012414400420

  • The BEST Tupac album ever.

    By A1GI4P25VBXYTO on 2001-05-16
(I've already written a review on this CD, but I felt obligated to write another one due to change of mind)

Most hail All Eyez On Me to be Pac's best album, but I disagree. Production-wise, it's the tops. But Me Against The World has some of the best and most intelligent rap lyrics you'll ever hear. Pac just seems so much more focused on this CD than on any of his other ones.

Before I knew what Tupac was all about, I liked All Eyez On Me the best (like millions of others). But compare the lyrics. Me Against The World is filled with so much emotion and depth. This is the album which basically sums up the life of Tupac. All Eyez On Me has some excellent songs backed with amazing beats, but as far as song-writing goes, this one beats it hands down. I read somewhere that Tupac said his songs were meant to be listened to. They're spiritual. You're supposed to take them in. He said it's cool if you rock out with them, but it's not the point of his albums. I concur.

It'd be redundant to make a list of the album's best songs, because they're all great. But the standout is "Dear Mama," which is my favorite Tupac song ever. This is the deepest and most personal song he's ever written. Most other rappers would think twice before writing a sweet ballad about their mother for fear of what it could do to their reputation. But Tupac had always rapped about what was on his mind. He kept it real, which is why so many people loved his music. Including me.

  • 2pac- Me against the World

    By A2L3WEVFOCA7OY on 2002-11-27
Tupac Shakur's 4th album "Me against the World" released in 1995, is arguably the illest rap album ever. When Hiphops most loved, most controversial legendary MC dropped this album, he showcased to the world more than ever his intellectual and poetic ability. The media liked to portray him as a violent thug, but in truth it was never like that, first and foremost Tupac was a musician with a message for the world, who never held back from displaying emotion whether it be anger, love, sadness etc, even if it meant he was going to be hated for it. Every track on this album is nice, some of my favourites (among many) include "Me against the World", "So Many Tears" and "Dear Mama" one of the realest tracks Pac ever wrote. Pac seemed to know that death was in his cards, and he gives indication of this on some of the tracks, throughout this album. Music on this album covers many different topics and many different emotions, as one person wrote "If there's a facet of the human experience that's left uncovered on this release, I can't think of it". It wasnt just Pacs lyrics, beats, versatility or production that made him the best, it was that real raw emotion, he put into his works that made him Hiphops most loved. "Me against the World" is one of the best albums of the 90s, essential for anyone who loves good music.

  • IT DON'T GET MORE TRU THAN THIS!!!!!!!!!

    By on 1999-08-15
this is my second favorite album by the one and only, the never replacable and realest rapper ever to live, without a doubt...2Pac. this is so well done. all eyez on me is only one that is better than this by far from him. the way he is so str8 up, this is who i am on this album makes it better. every song comes from his heart he had nothing to hide. seems a lil' normal for the only album to ever go #1 on the charts while it's creator of it was in jail. this shows just how real he was. one great example of it is the song that tells all, f*** the world. it is him in the prime thugged out. my favorite songs on here are the title song (probably my 2nd favorite 2Pac song!) and temptations (which had a hella good video). i'm highly recomending this album cause it shows 2pac before most learned to know him and before the death row dayz. RIP to the king of the thugs who will never be forgotten. show your love & buy this, it's really worth it!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of the best albums ever!!!

    By on 1999-09-02
This was definetely one of Tupac's best albums. It shows the trials, tribulations, hopes, joys and fears of this often misunderstood man. Tracks like "If I Die 2 Nite" and "Outlawz" come with some hardcore, but not like that you hear from DMX or Master P. It still has a reflective touch. "F**K The World" does show his anger at the stuff that has happened, which, considering what was going on, {he had just been shot and was headed for jail} is understandable. But for sure, tracks like "Lord Knows", "So many Tears", "Me Against The World", "It ain't easy", and the haunting "Death Around the Corner", which forsaw what would be Tupac's tragic ending, make this album so great. These tracks reflect on the difficulties of ghetto life and especially Pac's life. "Dear Mama" is one of the most touching songs ever made, and the cautionary tale "Young Niggaz" is great. Beats are not as good as what you hear on albums he did on Death Row, like All Eyez On Me, but he still comes through beatwise on tracks like "Dear Mama", "Young Niggaz", and "Lord Knows." If you only buy one rap album, buy this one! RIP Pac

  • This "mtv supporter" is a straight up comedian.

    By A1HTMRMCPY8QDF on 2006-01-23
Look,I try my best to not comment on other people's reviews, but guys like this loser below me just make it way too hard for me not to. I understand that everyone has their own opinion and their own taste in music. Not everyone is going to like or appreciate or be a fan of Tupac, I get that, I except that, I even respect that, But I am now convinced that this "mtv supporter" is one of or all of three things; a very sad and lonely person who desperately seeks attention, a complete joker,or, in the words of Stephen A. Smith, quite frankly, the biggest freaken MORON on the face of this earth.I dont give a good two sh*ts weather you like tupac or not,but when you start saying that hes garbage or saying he has no talent, you pretty much eliminate yourself from knowing what your talking about. And This is also coming from a guy who apparently thinks 50 cent and J.Lo are musical geniuses, yes, that 50 cent and J.Lo.,yet He has dissed Ray Charles, not to mention Pac, and oh yeah, thinks that Jimi Hendrix might be the worst gutarist of all time.Telling people who might read your review,if you dare call it that, to just simply consider the source, would really be a severe understatement.seriously dude, you deserve to get your a** thoroghly kicked for some of stuff you say.No one likes you,and you average about 1 or 2 helpful votes in all your reviews,so clearly little to no one respects or "supports" what you have to say either. You probably also think Michael Jordan is the worst Basketball player of all time.Or that Muhammad Ali is the worst boxer of all time.Or that Tom Hanks is the worst acter you've ever seen in your life. What is it you have against 2Pac anyway? What has he ever done to you? And if you hate him so much, why are you even wasting your time writing about him?Instead shouldn't you be whatching TRL or a rerun of Made or Pimp My Ride or something .Come on "Supporter"! and by the way,you doubley deserve to get your a** kicked for being an mtv "supporter".In fact admitting as much really makes you even more pathetic.

Now that I got that bull s**t out the way, heres what I thought about this album. This, along with 7 day theory, is by far 2Pacs deepest, most intellegent, most personal, and most significant album hes ever made.I just wish people would stop saying that this was his "best" album though. This album was great,no question about it, but A.E.O.Me was clerly his "best" album. Either way, my favarite Tracks on this CD were of course "Dear Mama", "So Many Tears",the title track(Persnal favarite),"Old School",and "Death Around The Corner". The beats are a little outdated but if your a real 2Pac or Hip Hop fan, then it won't really matter.

Despite what my good friend below me thinks, to me, Tupac represents everything thats RIGHT with not only Hip Hop, but music in general. He made music staight from the heart&soul, Not afraid to speak his mind, not afraid to speak out on injustices, not afraid of calling out powers that be,not afraid of having a voice and using it.Tupac may not be the "best" rapper of all time(their is no "best" rapper of all time by the way),but damned if that man isn't the most influential and greatest songwriting M.C. of all time.

  • bought it recently and loved it... Tupac is incredible!
    By on 1999-07-27
I just bought this CD and it's incredible. When I saw the cover it showed such class that no other rap cd has. it's not this gold, glittery garbage on the cover, it's the life story of a young man taken before his prime, Tupac Shakur. This album comes from the heart. Don't worry that Tupac Shakur has been imprinted with the visage of a gangster rapper... that is the biggest gang of nonsense I've ever heard! When I think of gangster rap I think of these rap cds that consist of killing a million people in their lyrics. On this CD, that's not even an issue. The death that's constantly discussed is Tupac's fear of his own untimely demise (which incidentally came in 1996.) Some of the songs I liked contained the themes of death(Death Around the Corner, If I Die 2Nite), the future of the black generation (Young Niggaz), domestic abuse (Can U get away), motherly love (Dear Mama), love for hip hop's old school (Old Schol) of which I'm a fellow fan of just like Tupac was, and Tupac's etho which was tatooed across his stomach, the so-called Thug Life. It's his outlook on life and this man was more than the controversial superstar you see on CNN. Buy this album and get into the lyrics. it will be your favorite CD.

  • 2Pac at his best
    By A12A7J2T5HCFGE on 2002-11-30
There's nothing you can't say about this album. It's simply 2Pac at his best. He hits you with 15 deep, lyrically amazing tracks and in the end you just feel his pain. The world was against him when he made this album, and this album is the first to really be themed on Pac anticipating his own death. He says himself "If I did die young, who'd care?"The Intro is scary, then Pac's sad voice on "if I Die 2Nite" is even scarier. He turns positive with "Me Against the World", which is one of the greatest rap songs of all time. If you listen tight, Pac lets you know the message he stresses is "Don't settle for less/Even a genius asks questions/Be grateful for blessings/Don't ever change keep your essence." On "Young Niggaz" he preaches to young black males, telling them they could be lawyers or accountants instead of being out in the streets selling drugs. He praises Black queens with "Dear Mama", which tells his story behind a snappy but sad beat. A great album all the way through. After a while you just realize that 2Pac really didn't care. He knew his days were limited. Just listen to "so Many Tears". It's just sad as Pac repeats over and over that he's going to hell, that he's going to die. "Me Against the World" is 2Pac's lyrical confession, the classic, and simply his best album.

  • "A Coward Dies A Thousand Deaths, A Soldier Dies But Once"
    By A13EHGWL2EFJOD on 2005-04-17
In Five Short Years Tupac went from a part of Digital Undergroud's Crew to the most influential outlaw in the world of Hip Hop and one of his albums that helped aid that transformation was his Third album "Me Against The World". Released shortly after Tupac's tragic New York studio shooting Tupac had many things on his mind, and all of which were vented into his most personal album in the Tupac Catalog. And for good reason Tupac's most personal albums were usually regarded as his best...:
1.Intro-A+-Usually I don't rate intros but this case is special. This Intro is a collection of News soundclips about his New York Studio shooting. A Classic Intro All Around.
2.If I Die 2 Nite-A-One of the most personal songs on the album about Pac's fears of death in the life that he is living.
3.Me Against The World-A+-One of the most moving songs in hip hop history, just a really good look on the inside of Pac's fear of death and his fury at the world.
4.So Many Tears-A-About Pac's Life and the things he has seen in the streets that effected him.
5.Temptations-A-The beat for this track is what makes it work as well as it does.
6.Young N!&&@z-A+-Classic about being a Young Thug and about life as a thug.
7.Heavy In The Game-A+-Classic, some of the best flows of the album are on this track alone.
8.Lord Knows-A-Dark and depressing of a track as it is...it also carries some melancholy sweetness not felt by any other hip hop tracks at the time.
9.Dear Mama-A+-Really serious track about life in the ghetto and a letter of apology to his Mama.
10.It Ain't Easy-A-Tragic song about how hard it is to be a black man in society.
11.Can U Get Away-B-Only Okay song on the album, just not feeling it.
12.Old School-A+-Classic about when hip hop was just starting about. Mentions every Mc from Queen Latifah to Krs-One. Plus features a sample from a B.I.G. song.
13.F^14.Death Around The Corner-A+-About the fear of death in the ghettos,in my opinion one of Pac's best songs.
15.Outlaw-B+-Pretty Good song but has some weak points.

Final Conclusion: Tupac's Masterpiece, timeless and a hip hop classic. If you don't have this album then you are NOT a real hip hop fan...enough said.

  • A sensational piece of work
    By A15QXDPKMKCND7 on 2005-01-13
"More exaltation for a dead guy who not only created his own problems, but blamed society for most of them. And now his mental problems are marketed to teens who essentially believe all his miserable bullcrud and end up ruining their lives themselves." -a music fan (amazon review)

As tempted as I am to retort and turn this review section into a battle of wits, I'll forgive and harbor no ill feelings against a man who'll neither remove his anonymity for the sake of feedback nor explain his reasons for such a harsh review that had nothing whatsoever to do with the actual content of the CD. Regardless, the response above is not uncommon. 2Pac has always sparked much controversy and public interest being that much of the last chaotic years of his life was overwhelmingly covered by the media during a time when gang violence ran rampant through the streets of L.A. to the East Coast. Gaining fame and stardom following his first Death Row Record, "All Eyes On Me", 2Pac quickly earned the reputation as a ruthless hardcore thug who answered to no authority; a trait many angry young kids like him related to. But flowing underbeath his concrete exterior was the soul of a softspoken poet who hoped for redemption and understanding in a society that often left his talent and true intentions unrecognized. "Me Against The World", possibly the most underrated of his life's work, was in many ways, a memoir chronicling the sequence of events leading to up to his incarceration in prison. Contrary to what title and "music fan" suggests, his title song, "Me Against the World" is actually a positive and uplifting message, concerning his stand on death, economic hardships and a corrupt bureacracy, directed to his fans and listeners who had no outlet through which to vent their feelings of oppression in a world that didn't care for them.

/The message I stress/ to make it stop study your lessons/ don't settle for less/ even the genius asks questions/ Be grateful for blessings/ Don't ever change/ keep your essence/ The power is in the people and politics we address/ Always do your best/ don't let the pressure make you panic/ And when you get stranded/ And things don't go the way you planned it/ Dreamin of riches, in a position of makin a difference/ Politicians and hypocrites, they don't wanna listen/

"Dear Mama" is arguably the highlight of this album as it exposes the man who also sought to shed a positive light on the women in his life as he did many times before and later on. This track also is a revelation regarding the reasons for his entry into gangs and drugs at a young age.

I hung around with the thugs/ And even though they sold drugs/ They showed a young brother love/

2Pac honestly expressed his reasons for his choices with no attempt at excusing them but also his hopes and wishes for a positive change in both his life and society in general, which tragically could not be realized post "All Eyez on Me's" release. This album both reveals the complex emotions of a man who lived in constant danger but tried desperately to see through better times and the constant paranoia and infatuation with death that affected him and his thoughts after being mortally wounded by gunfire. And even if this album wasn't the most successful financially, it was indeed truly the most meaningful.

Finally in one last response to "a music fan" or those who feel you can sum up a man in five sentences, I'll leave you with the words of 2Pac.

    "Only God can Judge Me"

  • Listen to the album
    By on 2006-01-23
MTV Supporter you are an idiot. If you had actually listened to Me Against The World you would know that there is not actually a lot of Thug bravado on this album. So Many Tears, Me Against The World, It Aint Easy, Dear Mama, Old School, Can U Get Away (which is a song about escaping a violent relationship) all have nothing to do with Tupac being a thug. You can call me a blind worshipper, or whatever that cr*p you were saying but I think you are the idiot. It is clear from what you have written that you have not listened to this album, oh and I like NWA, but if you think they have more substance in their raps then Pac then you are retarded.

I have no problem with people writing negative reviews, as long they have actually listened to the album. You are reviewing Tupac the person, not the album, I notice you posted the same review for All Eyez On Me, which is more of a Thug Life album. Me Against The World is not, it is probably the deepest any rapper has ever gone and is my favourite hip hop album of all time.

Oh and by the way, I notice you trashed Radiohead and Jimi Hendrix as well as Pac. There are about 5 other reviewers who do exactly the same thing, which makes me think you are all the same person, who is trying to get the average ratings down, you know who you are. It strikes me that you are the one who is truly sad, try getting a life, a*shole.

  • 2pac's Greatest Achievement!!!
    By on 2003-03-25
Me Against The World is 2pac's definite work. A work of art in rap music.

1.Intro- reporter talking about tupac getting shot. It Still tells you that 2pac lived the life he talked about. 3/5
2.If I Die 2Nite- alright song with okay beat. 2/5
3.Me Against The World- weak beat with 2pac's lyrics saving it. 3/5
4.So Many Tears- 2pac's greatest song, with a dark, catchy beat with some of 2pac's best and darkest lyrics. Show's traces of the thug he made himself out to be and the caring, god-fearing individual he tried so hard to hide. 5/5
5.Temptations- Above Average beat, with great hook, and Pac getting with the women.4/5
6.Young N****z- Great singing with 2pac telling the kids to be something in life and don't end up like him. 4/5
7.Heavy in the Game- the beat get's old quickly, not one of Pac's best greatest (stuck in the game) songs.
8.Lord Knows- nice beat and song. Stuck in the "So Many Tears" mold. 3/5
9.Dear Mama- shows the very sensitive side of 2pac. The definite tribute to his mother.5/5
10.It Ain't Easy- the beat is soothing but the song is not. One of 2pac's "the police is messing with me and I'm heading to jail" songs.3/5
11.Can U Get Away- the beat is ok, song is 2pac's as the savior to women. Beware 2pac contradicts hisself in this song (M.O.B anyone remember?) 4/5
12.Old School- nice tribute to the pioneers of rap. It's suprising 2pac spends most of his career cursing out rappers. It's suprising to hear him show some respect to some of them.4/5
13.F**K The World- 2pac's anthem. Show's how he thinks the world is going against him. Classic song.5/5
14.Death Around The Corner- 2pac's second greatest song. the beat starts out gangsta but becomes standard. His lyrics will have anybody rapping this song anywhere they go. 5/5
15.Outlaw- Awful song. Just because he contradicts hisself.(Young N****z)1/5

All-N-All the greatest rap disc of all-time.

    So Many Tears
    Temptations
    Heavy In The Game
    Dear Mama
    Old School

I HAVE HAD MY "ME AGAINST THE WORLD" CD STOLEN OUT OF MY CAR, HOUSE, SCHOOL BACKPACK, AND DISCMAN. AND IT IS THE ONLY CD IV'E EVER BOUGHT 5+ TIMES. AND IF I GET IT SCRATCHED, I'LL GO BUY ANOTHER ONE. THIS ALBUM IS BY FAR THE BEST RAP/HIP HOP ALBUM EVER COMPILATED! NO 0NE CAN DISPUTE THAT. THERE ARE SOME REVIEWS IN HERE THAT MAKE NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER AND THEY WILL CONTINUE TO GET IGNORED. BUT I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THIS ALBUM IS TRUE MUSIC AT ITS BEST. NO MATTER WHAT GENRE YOU CHOOSE AS A PREFERENCE, THIS IS ONE ANYONE CAN AGREE (IF YOU ARE A FAN OF MUSIC) IT IS A TRUE MASTERPIECE. my favorite song of all time is "OUTLAW"!

  • his best

aside from the hits this is the only essential album by 2pac to have.the songs are the most honest and thought provoking material that he ever released.and they were consistent.which for me has been one of his major problems.but if you only buy one 2pac disc this is the one.he put his heart into this disc.songs like dear mama&so many tears are solid songs.

I am well past the age where cd's change my life, but this one did, as well as that of my husband. :) Listen to it if you love rap, listen to it if you love tupac, listen to it if you're depressed, happy,or just plain pissed off!!! All of Tupac's cd's are masterpieces and cannot be compared, but everyone will have their favorites. All eyez on me was my fave, but I like this one just as much! If you are new to tupac, try "tupac's greatest hits" I looked it over and IT IS PERFECT for new tupac people :)

  • The people below are stupid idiots
    By AI0UH65Q22P34 on 2004-07-20
There are two reviews below this one that contain mindless, idiotic insults directed at 2Pac. This is directed at them. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some kids (yes, I said KIDS) really are. Unfortunately, youth tend to throw up boundaries among themselves based upon personal tastes (music, clothes, etc.) and then call each other inferior based upon them, and the people below are examples of such stupid kids. Clearly, said kids have serious personal problems and need a way to vent their anger, because it is the only explanation for their behavior. Making fun of people doesn't do anything except make you look stupid. And neither does whining about what's really "music" and what's not.

Using exaggerated, foolish stereotypes of "ebonics" usage, they claim all rap fans are stupid posers trying to be cool, and that they're happy 2Pac has died. And yet they expect us to believe they're the ones who are smart and mature, and that all rap fans are dumb. Does anybody who really is mature (and by that, I do NOT mean some zit-faced high school kid) see the contradiction in that logic? Then, they proclaim that rock and metal are the only types of music that involve talent, and that rap is just "talking fast". Anybody who has listened to hip-hop seriously knows just how much talent it really takes to rap, and 2Pac is one of the finest rappers that ever lived. What's even more idiotic is that one of the stupid kids below (the dumber of the two) tried to claim he's read 2Pac's lyrics, when he obviously hasn't. If somebody ever played "So Many Tears" or "Dear Mama" and asked him to call that "talking fast", he would have nothing to say. He'd just stand there looking like the foolish, naive child he is. Do I even need to remind anyone that metal was accused of being mindless noise when it was popular in the mainstream? I remember people who said, "Anybody can pound on a guitar and drums and scream about how much life sucks. Metal is not music. It has no melody; it's just endless screaming" and stuff like that. I have no problem with metal, but damn, some of the people that like it are punks who deserve to be kicked in the balls.

2Pac was a street poet, a man who put years of personal turmoil into his music. Even as flawed as he may have been in real life (with his legal troubles), and even though he had a bad record deal with Death Row (which began his "gangsta rap" career), his lyrics still reflect various emotions - confusion, pain, misdirected anger, and love - that few artists of ANY genre (including rock and metal) have ever managed to capture so perfectly. THIS is the reason why so many people of so many backgrounds (black, white, poor, rich) can relate to what he says in his music, even when he does bring the ghetto into it. There's a good reason he's so well-remembered, and why he'll be remembered for a long time as one of the greatest American musical ARTISTS (yes, I said artist) that ever lived, regardless of what stupid kids think. "Me Against The World" is by far his best album, as it predates his Death Row days and contains some of the most raw and intellectual lyrics he ever recorded.

Fortunately, the good news for those of us who are NOT zit-faced teenagers and really do like 2Pac for his music (not because of this kiddie concept called "posing") will always remember him as a great musical artist and poet. To that end, the people below can go screw themselves. Sooner or later, they'll reach puberty and come to terms with their naivety and anger. Until then, I guess it's more prozac for them.

  • the greatest album from the greatest of all time
    By A1VWKG7XWTARVP on 2002-05-01
Simply said, this is THE album for any 2pac fan(and thats hard to say, because every single one of his albums is above and beyond any rap cd ever!!!). If you really want to get to know the Tupac that was him, his deepest self. If u r looking for a song just to put u in a good mood, go for me against the world( the song) or heavy in the game (by the way, i think those songs have the best beats in the entire cd!!!). Dear Mama will make a grown man cry, no joke. Looking for a song to give you inspiration to do ur best to make it in life? Then just put on Young .... No matter how u look at it, u simply cant go wrong with this album. What am i saying, u cant go wrong with any 2pac album, period. The man couldnt make a bad album if he tried. This came out before the time on Death Row, and i believe that it was Death Row that killed him, or suge knight (but i hear that 'Pac might still be alive and making a come back in 2003!!!???). No matter what i say, u r going to have ur own opinion on this cd, but i can almost guarantee that u will agree with me. R.I.P. to the greatest of all time Tupac Shakur.

More exaltation for a dead guy who not only created his own problems, but blamed society for most of them. And now his mental problems are marketed to teens who essentially believe all his miserable bullcrud and end up ruining their lives themselves. Well brothas, you only live once...don't waste it in prison. Keep pishing and moaning about how hard your life is, and you just might be another victim of 2PAC and his sad mental disorder.

There are other things in the world besides being obsessed with the THUGGZZ book of conduct.

  • 2pac's best album

If you only get 1 2pac album this might be your best choice

  • Still Great After 10 Years
    By on 2005-11-22
I think this is his best album. Foreal doe you can listen to every song straight through from beginning to end. 2Pac really delivered on this album. He talks about so much here, the topics are endless and the music is well done. Everything still sounds good as it did 10 years ago. I really really miss Tupac. I miss his messages, his music, his voice, his presence. I will never stop listening to his music because it's timeless and I love it. My favorite song has always been "Dear Mama" because It's nice to see a man showing appreciation to his mother even after the trials and tribulations. Everyone should appreciate their mother regardless of personal issues the two of you face. That's something I learned from listening to this song.

  • How can you NOT like this album?...its a freaking masterpiece!!
    By A3IBXED14SKZ8Y on 2006-02-09
I'm a make this short and simple. Yes Tupac is incredibly talented, yes hes released some of the rap/hip hop albums ever made and yes ME AGAINST THE WORLD IS BRILLIANT. From start to finish(except for maybe Heavy in the game)youre going to have one helluv a ride on this album. Lyricly(Example:Dear Mama)its freaking amazing and Beat wise/music its just off the hook(see Temptations)...I cant think of one bad track well maybe Heavy in the Game but even that It isnt reallY BAD just not a track id listen to alot. Something that made me enjoy this album aswell was the "paranoia" like songs put into the album in which i'm speaking about songs such as "If I Die 2night" in which Tupac talks about well.......I think you can pretty much guess it, and same with "Death Around Every Corner"....This was my First Pac album and I gotta say not only is this man an amazing rapper but an incredible story teller and poet...COP THIS ALBUM....I'm not even going to say what the best/stand out tracks are because its simple............THERE ARE TOO MANY....incredible album...incredible Rapper.......and an incredible poet....

    5 out of 5 freaking stars.....COP THIS

  • A Classic, Never To Be Duplicated
    By A1N3XSLEJ3EOQQ on 2006-05-04
What can I say other then this is a purely amazing album. This was released while Tupac was inprisoned. And till this day. I belive this is the deepest Tupac albums you will find. He was hurting at this time. Because he was on trial for a crime he didn't commit, which was getting charged with rape. And this hurt 'Pac very much. So you know he had a whole lot to say about the matter. Go pick up the album, if you enjoy any types of rap. Its gonna be very hard to dislike this album, no matter what music you listen to.

Here's my song by song review:

Intro - 10/10 - This is a very emotional intro, I know it left me wanting more from this album once I heard it. Probably one of the best intros to a rap album, ever.

If I Die 2 Nite - 10/10 - The first Tupac song I ever heard. This song has a threshold of amazing lyrics, and just an unstoppable beat. One of the best Tupac flows as well.

So Many Tears - 8/10 - An emotional song once again. And also a slow moving song. But still very enjoyable since what he's speaking on is very true and deep. As you listen to this, you know that he put alot of effort and thought into this song, just like all of his other writings.

Temptations - 7/10 - One of the weaker songs on the album. But the beat stands out. So that's basically what makes the song.

Young N****Z - 8/10 - Well done, but it seems like he rushes his lyrics and the beat isn't what it could of been. But I really like the chorus, and the hook. Seems like the whole song was rushed. By I love the 2nd and 3rd verse. Thats why I still love this song.

Heavy In The Game - 10/10 - An amazing song. Featuring Richie Rich. Now Richie's verse isn't as good as Tupac's is. But he definitely comes close. Definitely labeled as a classic song. Deep as ever.

Lord Knows - 10/10 - Another slow paced song. Whenever I listen to this song I get heavy hearted. It shows how much $hit he was going through at this time. A true favorite of mine.

Dear Mama - 10/10 - To the test of time, this song will never be forgotten. You can not get any more "Tupac" like then this. Its amazing talent shown right here. Its deep and heartfelt more then ever. No one will EVER right a song with so much heart like he did right here. I don't have to say much more about this song. I think you get it.

It Ain't Easy - 10/10 - A song thatg can relax you easily. This has to be my 3rd favorite on this Cd. Just because of its smoothe beats + Lyrics.

Can U Get Away - 8/10 - Alot of people over look this song. But its good, not the best. But its still better then half of the songs coming out today. Defintely a song you should give a listen to.

F**k The World - 10/10 - Showing his pure anger right here. Talking about such things like the rape case he was going through. Well, thats mainly what he's talking about. And he also talks upon his "Thug Life" persona. Just Tupac going all out, like he always does.

Death Around The Corner - 10/10 - I don't have to explain much on this song, because everyone basically knows how amazing it is. He is predicting his death right here, its easy to see. The beat is untouchable, and the lyrics are invinsible.

Outlaw - 10/10 - My #1 favorite song on this album. Because he has some of my favoirte quotes of all time on here "Dead Bodies and block Parties. Those are lucky Bas*ards. Gun fir now they require many closed caskits". Its deep and angry at the same time. And taht's very hard to do on a record. But of course, he did it.

All in all, one again. Go get this cd if you want one of the craziest, and deepest album ever released.

  • All You Haters Go To Hell!!

Let's see before I start my review we have "MTV Supporter", "Jason Mckay "Jason", "gerryg" and "2pac was wack and a maggot". Yeah, this ones for you people

    To "MTV Supporter
Wow your officially a f***** retard. This album is not a posthumous release or a greatest hits compilation you moron. Has anyone read all this guys reviews. I'm sorry but I don't think were gonna listen to someone who thinks Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears are musical geniuses. Then why are you paying out rap fans then you say your a rap fan yourself. Your an idiot!!

    To "Jason McKay "Jason"
Hey just because your too much of an ignorant little b**** doesn't mean this sucks. Wow your also a complete retard, i'm sorry but this is one of the greatest rap CDs ever and your an idiot!!

    To "gerryg"
Hey jacka**, what other rapper could make songs like Keep Ya Head Up and Dear Mama. Tupac is not overrated, come on if his so overrated than name someone else who could do better. No one can do better than Pac no matter what retatrds like you say!!

To "2pac was wack and a maggot"
Well you already make yourself a joke by calling yourself that. Just because your another truly ignorant little b**** doesn't mean that Pac was garbage. Tupac was not wack and a maggot, your wack and a maggot!!!

Now to the album. I have to agree with other people in saying that this is one of the best rap CDs of all time, by the greatest rapper of all time. Well its very hard to say what is the best rap CD of all time seeing other people think other CDs are the best rap CDs ever. Well this has got to definitely be one of them. It has tracks like the amazing "Dear Mama", the dark "If I Die Tonight, So Many Tears and Death Around The Corner and the sex song "Temptations". This was released when Pac was in jail so i'm sure people expected a pretty ill album, and that's what we got. All the songs are classics and you won't have to hit the skip button once.
In conclusion I have to strongly recommend that you go pick this up now. Don't allow yourself to miss hearing some of raps finest work any longer.

  • One of his best.
    By A1GI4P25VBXYTO on 2001-02-27
It's so hard for me to figure out which 2Pac CD ranks at the top as my favorite. The reason for this is because each of 2Pac's CDs are all different. One has the hip-hop loving 2Pac, the other has the crazy thug-ladden one, another has the emotionally confused one, etc. If you want to hear the latter side of Tupac, I'd reccommend this one. Me Against The World is filled with so much insightful lyrics it's close to impossible to not listen to it all the way through. It also contains my favorite Pac song (Dear Mama) and is definetely one of his best, if not, THE best. It seems as if no 2Pac album is ever labeled as bad or inferior; he's just too [darn] good. If you like All Eyez On Me (reputed to be his best), 2Pacalypse Now, Strictly 4 My NIGGAZ, Makaveli, Thug Life, Still I Rise, Greatest Hits and R U Still Down, I'd highly recommend this album. ... .

  • dont know what to call it
    By AAXXBOAEZU7BY on 2002-04-14
this was a classic masterpiece. 2pac was real on every song. he wasnt a thug on this cd. he talked about pain and the troubles of life. its hard to pick a song but the one that stands out is dear mama. he poured out all those words because he meant them. when you listen to this album and his previous albums theres a BIG difference. 2pac sounded real mature on this album. coming out at a time when he had been shot and went to jail it was 2pac against the world and 2pac won. i think a lot of people who hated 2pac for all of the controversy that surrounded him and all the crimes he committed, they loved him after they heard this. i really liked the intro talking about him being shot and all the things he did with an aproppriate beat. it was amazing how he predicted his own death with death around the corner and if i die 2nite. another song that i loved was me against the world. if you have a bad day or things arent going well for you you should listen to that, espacially what he says at the end. so many tears talked about pain and suffering without sounding to soft. i liked heavy in the game because it had the tightest beat on the album and talked about backstabbers and liars. i also liked outlaw because it had a good beat and 2pac talked about people wanting to kill him. another song that i really like was temptations. that song was tight as hell. 2pac did the best rhymes on that song. i could go on all day about all the songs. doesn't matter if you're a 2pac fan or not you need to buy this cd. there will be at least one song you will feel or relate to.
    buy 2pacs #1 fan

  • classic material from the Thug King - R.I.P.
    By A3C6ZCBUNXUT7V on 2004-10-22
Another classic album from the Thug Poet. This was his last cd he made that did not have a Death Row touch to it and it's got some classic material on here. If you do not have this for some reason then you gotta get it, as with all his material he does not disappoint. The production is handled by Easy Mo B, SoulShock, Moe ZMD, Tony Pizzaro, Mike Mosley & Sam Bostic (2 songs each), and D-Flizno, Brian G, Johnny J and Shock G each do 1 song. Guests are minimal so you get a lot of Pac. It has 3 classics, 2 near classics, 1 I skip, and the rest are good. He has material that really touches you and makes you think, he was a lyrical genius in the sense of telling a story and touching people.

#1 (intro talking about 'Pac & his NY shooting incident)
    #2 - 8
    #3 - 8 (f/ Outlawz (Dramacydal))
    #4 - 10 - (classic deep song)
    #5 - 9.5
    #6 - 9
    #7 - 9.5
    #8 - 10 (another classic, deep song)
#9 - 10 (classic - dedication to his ma dukes)
    #10 - 8
    #11 - 6
    #12 - 8.5
    #13 - 8.5
    #14 - 8.5
    #15 - 8.5 (f/ Outlawz (Dramacydal))
