Playhut Crawl N Playx$17.99

(52 reviews)

Best Price: $17.99

Crawl in, crawl out, or you can even stand up in the middle of this Crawl 'N Play Tunnel. Three separate structures are combined in various configurations with a total of 6' of crawl space and open top for pop-up fun. Connects to other Playhut Connect 'N Collect structures, sold separately. Measurements: one cube 32"L x 32"W x 32"H and two tunnels each measure 18" diameter x 20"L.

This lightweight, sturdy, flame-resistant nylon play structure can be set up in 30 seconds. There are no poles to piece together and insert (or lose or break). The Crawl N Play pops open and keeps its shape, thanks to the sewn-in spring-action frame. Indoors or out, the three modular units--one 32-by-33-by-33-inch block with four round openings and a roof window, plus two tunnels, each 18 inches across and 20 inches long--fit together with hook-and-loop tabs. Kids can create a clubhouse, a castle, a dungeon, a tower, a jail, a rabbit burrow, a bear's den, a pirate ship, an outlaw hideout, Aladdin's cave, a house on the prairie--whatever a game of make-believe seems to demand. The structure folds up to fit in the included nylon carry case, and it can be connected to other Crawl N Play modular sets to form larger structures. --Ava Natov MPN: 72026-V05 - UPC: 053762718249

  • Very easy to set up, fun for a 2 year old

    By A54YO75J3WT5O on 2001-09-29
My 2 year old son likes this, he is in his "tent" phase
right now and this fits the bill. He also likes crawling through the tunnels. This works well indoors and outdoors on a LEVEL surface only. You can't really stake it down outside so it does need to be level. It's VERY easy to set up and easy to take down. Takes up about the space of a 8x10 notebook pad of paper when folded. Great for trips to the park or beach. I like this toy much better than the inflatable ball pits as it can't leak. You could easily fill the center part of this with balls. Just as a side note, when we leave this up overnight our cat also loves to use it to sleep in (he prefers the yellow tunnels!).

  • Beware of this company

    By A1749A8F4FPPEM on 2003-01-09
My boys were given a playhut system similar to this one and I want to warn people about the way this company works. The playhut we have has a cube that shows you can play soccer with it because it has a soccer net attached to it. When we opened it up there was no net. I contacted the company and they said that there is a disclaimer on the box that says the product might be different that what is shown on the box. I can not understand this because how are we as consumers supposed to know what is inside or not if they are not truthful. The instructions inside even showed the net as did the box in three different places. My three year old wants to know why he can't play soccer with it. They are fun for the kids but the boys have already ripped the side of one cube so the duribility isn't that great. I just wanted people to know how this company works. Just be careful because they don't believe in truth in advertising.

  • A mom of 2 boys

I bought this for my boys to play in (3 and 2), both alone and with their play group. It works very well. Several kids can play in and around it without fighting. It can be easily put away. There is not 5 million pieces to pick up. It requires the boys to think of activities/stories to play in it. The only potential problem I see is trying to quickly bring it back in after having it outside. It will no doubt require a quick clean up.

  • Incredible toy, even for crawlers

    By A254IE0P539LXY on 2002-10-29
I bought this for my 11 month old twins two months ago when I realized they love crawling underneath their exersaucers and our furniture. They get so excited when they crawl through the tunnels to get to the main compartment. They giggle and laugh, and can sit up in the tunnels with their heads touching the nylon top. I put toys inside of the hut and that's even more incentive for them to crawl inside. We have it in our kithen, and when one of the boys wants to go from one side of the kitchen to the next, they usually go out of their way to crawl through the playhut. I am amazed that the age range for this is 3-8. I think it is appropriate AND SAFE for much younger. It obviously is collapsable, so you don't really want your infant to use it to help him stand up. But otherwise, it's a perfect toy for little ones. Also, if you feel that your house is being overrun with toys, this is the simplest toy to twist and put away. If you want it out all the time, great, but if you don't you can put it away in 2 minutes. The designers at Playhut really knew what they were doing when they created this wonderful toy.

  • Extremely Durable, Lots of Fun...

    By A32JRYB13SAZUT on 2003-10-29
Santa brought this set for our daughter (now two) last year, and it has been a great toy. She has been very rough with it, but it has held up perfectly... She likes to jump against it and crush it flat, and also stand inside it and walk around the room with it balanced on her head... Of course she also likes to sit inside it and read books or play with small toys. We bought 100 plastic balls to go inside, but that was hard to keep tidy - they kept leaking out and are now reserved for rainy day play.

I love how it folds absolutely FLAT (in two seconds!) for easy storage/transportation. It pops open in one second! It is also easily washable - just wipe clean. The tunnels attach easily with four velcro straps, but our daughter currently prefers them left unattached. She likes to roll the shorter tunnel around the room, or stand it on end and climb inside to play Pop-Up.

The set that we, ahem "Santa", bought had two tents and two tunnels. The boxes were not clearly marked, and these were not all packaged together. We had the option of buying more pieces separately. They were very inexpensive! They have been worth twice what we paid for them, and I would buy the set again in a heartbeat. This is a GREAT, open-ended, imaginative toy that would provide many years of quiet/rowdy fun for any child.

  • Lots of fun, but the tunnels weren't durable
    By A1L5GWCBYX07PT on 2005-03-27
I got this toy to use in my daycare. ALL of the kids love it (ages 2-9). It has gotten used every day and has been everything from a space ship to a school bus.

The main tent part has been very durable and folds up very small. I usually fold it flat and don't twist it and put it in it's case, but it's easy to do.

The problem I've had with the toy is with the tunnels. They have a wire coil in them and the ends have poked out through the fabric. I haven't been able to get them back in so I've had to get rid of them. Granted they got ALOT of use with my daycare, so they may hold up fine with just one or two children.

  • No fun for our little ones
    By A3HETHW2XD3DWH on 2005-06-18
I couldn't wait to buy this for our two toddlers. Not long after I popped it open (it is quite easy to set up, takes about 5 seconds) and attached the two tunnels, my kids were happily crawling through it. Then.......uh oh! With normal movement, the tunnels detached easily, the kids found it cramping to sit and play together under the dome, and they became frustrated that they couldn't freely crawl from one tunnel through the dome and out the other side of the second tunnel without getting their clothing and sneakers caught on the sides or on the velcro.

My kids are petite, and still they were clumsy inside. They gave up on it after 20 minutes and we just packed it up for return. I read the age guidelines and figured they'd be just fine, but aside from it folding easily and storing conveniently in a carry bag, this is not the oodles of fun that it's advertised to be. I'd recommend a play tent that does not feature attachable tunnels....they DETACH way too easily!

  • No problems - only fun!
    By AYTPAGT9142Z1 on 2004-08-04
We bought this item for our son at Christmas, even though he was only nine months old. We're so glad we did! He has been a climber since he could crawl, and the tunnel/tent "hideout" just tickled him to no end!! We have had no problems with smells, bends, or tears, even with older children clambering through this. I, too, am surprised by the recommended age level (begins at age 3), but I do want to caution anyone purchasing this for a crawler: The large holes the tunnels attach to are only about 1" off the ground, so it's fairly easy for a young crawler to pass through them, but the side holes are a good 4" off the ground. A little one who tries to crawl through the side holes might not be able to lift his/her knee up high enough to clear the fabric. It was no problem for our son, who could probably climb anything in the house at that point (*LOL*), but it's worth mentioning. I doubt the baby would get hurt, but they would definitely drag the tent across the floor with them! Our son did but figured it out after a few tries. It's been great fun for us! We recommend it.

  • tunnel fun
    By A2C44SFJHXVXF9 on 2005-08-23
i bought this tunnel for my 1 year old granddaughter. because she crawls through everything. she loves this tunnel. has the most fun with her brother chasing her through all the openings. she tries to stand and come through the hole in the top to play peek a boo. i didnt realize what fun this tunnel would be for her. and the other good part about it is i can add to it. it is so easy to assemble and folds up so small that it can be taken anywhere or even slid into a suit case for traveling. i would recommend this tunnel to anyone.

  • Great Fun For Little Ones!!!!
    By on 2003-09-27
I bought this for my son when he was six months old. He is now 1 year and loves it even more than when he first got it. We play the hide and seek game with it, and he loves to bring other toys inside and play with them there.
It folds up very nicely, and is very portable. I highly recommend this item .

  • My Son Loves This Toy!
    By A1F2QHRJRNBXYC on 2005-08-06
This is a great toy for incdoor use. We don't have alot of extra room in the house, but this works out great as it's easy to put up and take down. My son is 3 and he really loves this toy! :)

  • It is not exactly what I expected
    By on 2002-11-16
This tent does not have a bottom. It is supposed to be for indoor and outdoor use and should have a bottom panel. In addition, some of the holes are low and others are higher and my daughter trips over the higher holes because she has to step over them, they are not at ground level. I don't understand why they are not. The reviews say that it is durable but it is very lightweight and appears as though it could break easily. My daughter is 2 years old and not very interested in it. I bought it for her birthday.

  • Not worth the money!
    By A35MJQV4E2K5F7 on 2002-11-20
I bought this for my son who can flip this tent over with one hand. The instructions are not very descriptive at all and by the time I figured out how to get it together I was ready to take it back. The pieces do not fit together well and my sons feet get caught everytime he tries to go in the tent or crawl through a tunnel. Save your money and buy a Little Tikes playhouse for $100. It may cost twice as much but your money will be very well spent!

  • Fosters creativity
    By A2XUQN9HUD6ISG on 2003-06-28
My mother-in-law has this toy at her house for all of the grandkids to play with. My kids (2.5 and 14 months) love playing in it (in combination with several other PlayHut structures)with their cousins. They have come up with several creative ways to use it, including an animal hospital, a storm shelter, and a vacation home :) My youngest, although too young to fully enjoy the older kids' games, enjoys crawling in and out of the tunnel. My one complaint is that it's pretty hard to fold it back up, but it's not a huge issue.

  • Smells like mothballs
    By A3CWOTYDKFSLBC on 2004-04-02
I looked for a toy like this for a long time in many places. I ordered it from Amazon. After opening the package it smelled so badly of moth balls that it made my whole house smell like an old lady's closet. The fabric is a type of thick paper-like substance, not like the older Play Hut toys. The colors are not as bright as a result. I'm going to send it back.

  • not as great as I thought
    By A1ZBAEL03CSRJR on 2004-05-02
My 2 year old daughter (who I believe to be rather calm for a toddler)received this as a Christmas present and I thought that it was going to be awesome. However, within the first day she managed to rip two of the connector loops that velcro the tunnel to the tent. Also, I read one review that said their child liked to sit on it and squash it and that the tent would pop back up. I would caution against allowing your child to do this because ours is now slightly deformed from my daughter sitting on it. It is a fun toy and my daughter does like going inside of it with her flashlight to pretend it is her little fort. Overall, I am happy with it, I just think that it isn't quite as a durable as it is made out to be.

  • My baby has so much fun with this product
    By AB0IQSN9YKF25 on 2006-03-13
My baby is only a year old and has a blast playing in his tent and tunnel.

  • We Love This
    By AK6DR1XX3EON8 on 2007-01-16
My 15 month old twins absolutely love this. They spend hours crawling in and out of the tunnels. Discovering they could pop their head out of the hole in the top added a whole new dimension of fun because they could see us while they were playing. We have a small house and having the ability to take it down and fold it up into it's case has ended up being a very important feature for us. The girls had a play date this weekend and we took it with us and ended up with 4 kids enjoying the tent and tunnels. I would highly recommend this item to anyone with little ones and who has space limitations.

  • great durable toy
    By on 2003-01-15
A great toy for the third child, whose older siblings have everything. We bought this for our crawling 1 year old. She and her olding siblings enjoy it. We fold it up and take it to Grandmas house. Although, I can not fold the hut back into the compact circle!

  • A must-have for toddlers!!!
    By A21XG6970M1APG on 2004-12-29
I bought this tent along with many other toys for my 2-yr old this Christmas... needless to say, he has played longer and harder with this than any other toys combined! This is great for both physical and mental excercise. He pretends all sorts of things while he runs in and out of the tunnels, and pops his head out of and throws balls through the opening in the center. The only thing I did to change this was I bought an extra 6-ft long tunnel. I put the two yellow ones that come with the tent together on one side, and put the longer one on the other. While I haven't had it too long yet, my sister has another Playhut item similar to this that she's had for about 4 years. It's held up great, and I expect this one to also. It folds up nice and small, too. If you have a child, as soon as they start crawling this would be a great investment. I think it will work for most any child up to about the age of 4-5.

  • lots of fun

We bought this as a joint gift for my son who is 3 and my daughter who is 7 months. Both love it. My daughter who crawled early, really enjoys it! no problems at all. I did find it at Toys r us mis marked for 19.99 so I feel I got a great deal...

  • My 1 year old loves it.

Easy to pop up, easy to colapse.... and most important of all...my 1 yr old loves it.

  • Tons of Tunnel Fun!
    By A2UFOUMB4UEEBD on 2006-03-22
Since my 2 year old daughter had been going to her little gym class, she has been crazy over tunnel and tents sets. For her birthday, we just knew this was what we had to get her. She has had non-stop fun with it. As a mom, the things I like most, is that it's not too big for any given room, it folds back up in seconds, and mostly I'm impressed with how durable it it. My daughter has had that set in every which way, shape, and form, and it still goes back to the way it's supose to be. My husband and I always laugh and say, "The best money we ever spent", because we know we didn't have to spend a lot and we see how much having this means to her.

  • Best purchase we ever made
    By A1AFTIBRURE7FI on 2002-11-11
When my husband and I bought this toy for our nephew we accidentally left it at home when we traveled to his birthday party. Therefore we went back to the store to purchase another thinking we would just return the one left at home. However, our daughter who was 10 months at the time loved it so we ended up keeping the original for her. She is now 16 months old and this is her favorite toy by far. It is easily stored and very enjoyable for her. She loves to have us "chase" her through the tunnels and squeals with delight. We are now trying to find some additions to it as we feel this toy will be enjoyable for her for quite a few more years.

  • good buy and a lot of fun for my little guy
    By on 2004-01-11
I bought this for my son for his 2nd birthday. He loves to play in it. The play hut does get scooted around the floor easily but it is durable. So far it has stood to 3 months of use and abuse. I like that it collapes down in an instant to store. We have a lot of fun with this toy/tent.

  • Not good quality.
    By A22CVC2F30OF8J on 2004-04-25
We bought this tent for our son fir his birthday. When it arrived, the tent smelled like mothballs. It was also so thin you could see through it. I do not think it would hold up to a lot of play. I would condider something else.

  • My 1 year old son loves it!!!!!!! VERY PLEASED.
    By A21EG04NX01B5V on 2005-02-26
My 1 year on son received a gift card for xmas and I've decided to get him one of this play tent. Since he loves crawling under the tables and such. I have seen a lot of tents and tunnels like this but usually they need to be assembled, but not this one. I love it that it (1) folds so small and thin, (2) very inexpensive, (3) you can take it anywhere, (4) easy set up (takes 1 minute) and (5) if a child lands on it or leans on it, it just pops right back into place.

    This is the best ever...

  • Super Fun!
    By A19L3TRKHLJ4JR on 2007-05-20
My son is 12 months old and loves to play in his Crawl N Play. We have the tent part in one room and the tunnel part in another room. The tent part is much bigger than I thought it might be which is great! He keeps his favorite toys in it and loves to play hide and seek in it. An awesome toy for the money!

  • It's ok...
    By A3IJSRXU8TCIYM on 2008-05-13
I don't know how long this toy will last. It is very flimsy. My 19-month-old is just ok with it--he's not really crazy over it as what you would see on the ad. If we don't play it with him, he won't play with it much. We could've lived without this toy...

  • Best gift we've ever received
    By A2E3MVZRNYM2B1 on 2004-12-06
This play tent set is the best gift we've received over the years. It has survived daily play by two wild little boys (ages 5 1/2 and 2 1/2). In the summer, we set it up outside and the boys' friends in the neighborhood loved the tents too!
