Pokemon 2.B.A. Masterx$4.98
    (557 reviews)
Best Price: $9.98 $4.98
From the Flashdance-like opener, "Pokémon Theme," to the closer, "You Can Do It (If You Really Try)," 2.B.A. Master is high-energy fare. This CD sports an over-the-top flavor drawn from video-game-styled electronic blips, disco danceability, and the hollow tripped-out beats of theme-park musicals, all of which makes this super hot stuff for the Pokémon generation. The 13 tunes here are spread between action narrative ("What Kind of Pokémon Are You?," "Together Forever"), scene-setting devices ("Viridian City"), and character theme songs for our hero Ash, his Pokémon Pickachu, and his pal Misty, as well as rival trainers, Team Rocket. "What Kind of Pokémon Are You?" features multitracked rapping and R&B choral refrains; the superlative "2.B.A. Master" bursts with space-age Michael Jackson-inspired speak-singing and electronic riffs; and not only is the funky "PokéRap" featured in audio, but the enhanced disc contains the visual component as well. --Paige La Grone

"Pokemon CD, I CHOOSE YOU!" By A30Q8X8B1S3GGT on 2000-05-28
This is a very well produced album, and fun whether you're seven or seventy. For grown ups, there are some good work-out tracks, too.The songs have an interesting range of styles, from pop to techno, easy listening to light rock, and even a little rap. One track sounds like a Michael Jackson ballad, another a dance mix you might hear when you're out clubbing. "Misty's Song" is actually pretty thoughtful, considering this is supposed to be a kids' CD. It reminded me of a few tracks on Jennifer Warnes' CD "The Hunter", or something similar. The most fun is, of course, the Team Rocket anthem, "Double Trouble". Jessie, James, and Meowth join in on the catchy tune. When I first heard James give his "evil" laugh, I burst out laughing. That and Meowth imploring Team Rocket to "stop yappin'," and capture some pokemon! The overall mood is uplifting and fun, promoting teamwork, friendship, etc. It helps to be familiar with the TV show, but if you have a kid into the whole Pokemon thing, you probably know enough to understand the references to Viridian City, Team Rocket, Pokemon evolution, and generally what's going on. You may be surprised just how many familiar Pokemon you can pick out of the PokeRap song. The liner notes list all 150 (known) Pokemon, lyrics for each song, and a pretty snazzy Poke-poster on the back once you unfold the insert. If you're faced with a Poke-challenge from a Miss Spears or N'Sync album, just take out your Pokeball and say, "2bA Master CD, I CHOOSE YOU!" It'll be the shortest match history!
A Very Fitting Soundtrack By AUDFE4S0E5PCL on 1999-11-26
This CD very nicely captures the mood of Pokémon. Any fan should at least like all the songs and will probably love many of them. Each sings about some aspect of the Pokémon phenomenon: "2B A Master" describes the unfailing dedication and plight of the Pokémon trainer, "What Kind of Pokémon Are You?" celebrates type superiority, "Everything Changes" is all about Evolution, and on and on. And of course, no Pokémon CD would be complete without the ballad of it all, "Aim To Be A Master", the Pokémon TV show theme. While on the topic, I believe that parents who are unsure whether to let their kids participate in the cultural force that is Pokémon should buy and listen to this CD, as it so effectively captures the spirit of the whole entity. Pokémon is not about violence, it's about striving towards a goal; it's not about wasting time on an unworthy pursuit, it's about learning that if you are dedicated, there's nothing you can't do (the last track on the CD, "You Can Do It [If You Really Try]", says that better than I ever could). This CD is about Pokémon, the phenomenon, and should be bought by anyone who is interested for any reason in that phenomenon. Thank you for reading my review, and I hope you enjoy the CD!
This Pokemon music can be enjoyed by people of all ages. By on 1999-11-07
I wanted to respond to everyone who has been critisizing this CD as being excessively kiddie. I will admit that I am a huge fan of Pokemon at 17 years old. The outstanding cartoon has blown past The Simpsons to becmome my new favorite animated show. I even loved what little bit of the game I was able to play when a friend of mine lent me his GameBoy. I like Pokemon stuff because, although it's an animated show and although it doesn't have all the violence, swearing, etc... that are commonly associated with non-kids entertainment, that doesn't mean it can't still be entertaining for everyone. Think of Empire Strikes Back, which was an outstanding movie even though it didn't have a single swear. Pokemon has many excellent qualities that make it great. This CD is not trying just to have some childish, shallow music designed to appeal only to very young kids. Instead, it strives to deliver some great music in a style that's honest and optimistic, while realistically portraying various elements of the Pokemon world and its characters. I'll admit that a few of the songs are quite stupid. Others are good but not great. But there's also a lot of excellent ones. I especially liked Together Forever and The Time Has Come (Pikachu's Goodbye). It's also nice to have the cool Pokemon Theme Song on CD, even though I've already heard it a million times on the TV show. People who can't look past the fact that this CD has certain attributes that our society generally considers to be childish will be missing out on some great music.
Misty's Song is the best By A20U6S9Q0HA24 on 2000-02-02
For those of you who are wondering about Ash & Misty this CD proves that one has love for the other. Track 11: Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu are getting ready to go to sleep. Ash says good night to Brock and Pikachu then says goodnight in a not-so-friendly manner to Misty. Misty returns it in the opposite manner than very quietly whispers, "Sweet Dreams" Then she sings for about 3 minutes about how she loves Ash at the end she whispers in the same way, "I love you" Ash turned to Misty. Dialouge: Ash: (yawning) Did you say something Misty? Misty: Me? No! I didn't say anything Ash. Good night.
This is a great CD to buy! By A2XE0ZP5RLF3VV on 1999-12-08
I think that this is a great CD for any Pokemon fan and I noticed that even teenagers tend to like these songs. My favorite songs were 2BA Master and Double Trouble. There are many other great songs on this CD (like Misty's Song or The newer Pokemon Theme) so I suggest that any Pokemon fan should go and buy this CD!
- I love Mistys song, and I made up a story about it

Misty:Pikachu keep him away from here! Pikachu:Pika? Ash:ok lets here it. (Play threw the song)Mistys Red. Ash:wow I was to shy to tell you too! Brock:Why cant I get girls like that?
- Made me feel like a kid again
     By on 1999-11-24
I'm hopeless. I'm a 25-year-old professional who's hooked on a kid's show. Picked this CD up after hearing some of the "Pikachu's Jukebox" segments following the cartoon, and it's a lot of fun. The cute, peppy, sometimes just plain corny songs reminded me of nothing so much as the Buckner & Garcia "Pac-Man Fever" album I listened to as a kid in the early 1980s... any other adults out there remember this one? My favorite track is the Team Rocket song; I love those three on the show, they're such great characters, and hearing them rap is hilarious. The whole disc is great for kids, nothing for parents to be concerned about (face it, there are much worse things for kids to be into than Pokemon). Also recommended for kids-at-heart.
- Cool! I love it!

I think this soundtrack is great! I oughta know, because I have the actual cd. "What kind of pokemon are you?" is my first favorite song.
- Hooray for Pikachu

Pokémon is going off the T.V, and all the cards are banned at schools. But even when the craze has gone, these songs will live on. 2.B.A. Master is probably the best song on the CD. It's my second favourite song after 'Pokémon World' (Not on this CD). I'm the only person around who can sing the fast beginning verse and other verses. Viridian city is good too, but so are all the others! There are slower songs as well, but they're still kind of catchy. Even if you hate Pokémon you might like some of the tracks (although not the Pokérap...Pokémanics only, I think).P.S. Not a Jigglypuff in sight!
- FANTASTIC! Great for a Pokémon fan!
     By on 1999-12-05
This CD has it all, good beats, great songs and a lot of original tracks. An excellent buy for those who are either just starting Pokémon or a Pokémon master. Contain 13 tracks all brand-new. Also in Misty's song (track 11) she sings about her love for Ash. Definatly worth the price. Best songs: Track 8: Pokémon Dance mix, Track 4: What kind of Pokémon are you & Track 10: Together Forever.

Runs out of the room when he's finished)Ash: Hey, Brock! Look at what I found in Misty's nightstand!Brock:What is it?(Takes the paper from Ash and reads it.Misty walks into the room)Misty:What's that, Ash?Ash:Brock, can you leave for a minute?(Brock leaves but stays by the door so he can hear them talking)Ash:Is this true, Misty?Misty:Is what true?Ash:What's written on this paper.(Misty takes the paper from Ash.She turns red, begins to sweat)Misty:YesAsh:(In a low voice) At least I know I wasn't wasting my time.Misty:What do you man by that?Ash:I love you too, Misty.(They gaze at each other)Brock:(Thinking to himself)Why can't love be that easy for me?
- A CD Every Child Should Have
     By A29IWVKIU58F1X on 1999-12-16
This CD is great. It features some of the songs from the segment: Pikachu's Jukebox and a couple new songs. Most of the songs tell you how important friends are and I think that that is a lesson every child should learn. Parents, we've got a winner! Teens love the songs as well. I did.

- Gotta Catch `em all!
     By A2EEHHA0G0FIDP on 2000-06-05
This excellent CD features 13 songs from the hugely popular animated show "Pokemon". Some of the songs are really catchy and will get you singing along or tapping your feet. As a fan of the cartoon, it seems to me that all the Pokemon bashers have ignored the positive messages in the show or music, and decided Pokemon only revolves around fighting. This is not so. There are songs promoting friendship and teamwork ("My Best Friend", "Together Forever"), a song detailing the heartache of having to leave someone ("Pikachu`s Goodbye"), and the excelllent title track "2BA Master", which sounds like a Michael Jackson song, telling us about the unfailing determination of the Pokemon Trainer. There are also character songs for Ash, Misty and Team Rocket. If you have a PC at home you can even play the video to the catchy "PokeRap" on your computer, which is a nice touch. This CD brilliantly captures the spirit of the cartoon show and is a must for any Pokemon fan.
- This CD KICKS! IT IS SWEET!
     By on 1999-10-19
Hey, all you Pokemon fans! I'm so happy I bought this CD! The first few times I chickened out, but finally I got the nerve to buy it!(I'm 12 years old, by the way.) I am a, no sorry, the BIGGEST closet Pokemon fan ever! I never EVER miss a show! Anyhoo, (sorry if I'm rambling, I tend to do that when I'm really hyped about something) the CD is the bomb. Though I wouldn't recommend it for everybody, Pokemon fans galore would LOVE it. I won't waste time telling you what my favourite songs are and all that yadayada, but will tell you that this CD will be on repeat for days in my Discman. Oh yeah, by the way......I KNEW IT! I KNEW MITSY AND ASH WERE (SORRY, ARE) BOUND TO BE A COUPLE! THEY WOULD LOOK SOOOOOO CUTE TOGETHER. I LOVE MISTY'S SONG! IT IS LIKE, THE PERFECT LOVE SONG. WHEN I READ THE LYRICS TO MISTY'S SONG (SADLY, I COULD NOT LISTEN TO THE CD RIGHT AWAY) MY JAW DROPPED AND GRAZED THE FLOOR FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES (I AM DEAD SERIOUS). IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. By some small miracle, I managed to close my mouth to tell my sister this: I TOLD YOU SO! Thank you for reading my review.P.S. All the other songs rule too. P.P.S What is with the spelling in some people's reviews? It's horrendous! P.P.P.S I am going to listen to the Cd right now. Sweetness!
- Totally Awesome!
     By on 1999-11-16
This CD was the absolute best! My favorite song was "Misty's Song". It was so cute and like so surprising. I never would have thought that she liked him. Anyways the other songs were also very good. I rate this a 5! You should get your own copy.
- wow

I'm a pokemon fan & i bought this cd to add to my colection thinking it stupid but when I got home & listened to it,it was the best music i have ever heard! It's has got music that every one would like. I really like it.
- Surprisingly catchy and somewhat addictive...
     By A3S6CJ4A0CF0MB on 1999-11-24
I'm 16 and as I was watching TV the pokemon movie trailer came on, and in the background, I heard some good beats. I thought to myself, I have to get my hands on that song! So I bought the CD and I'm glad I did. The "pokemon dance mix," as corny as the title is, was that cool song I heard. And other songs aid in the understanding of the show. Yes, misty's song does give away that she likes ash, but wasn't that obvious during that episode where this ghost lady in the statue episode? Oh no, I'm 16 and sadly obsessed. That's the way the pokeball crumbles.
- FANTASTIC!
     By A39GM2Y334YENA on 1999-11-28
This CD is great for people who like pokémon and for those who dont! I think all the tracks are good, especially the new jazzed up theme song! A must buy for all pokémon fans!
- Team Rocket definitely puts the "rock" in rocket!!!
     By on 2004-12-28
I thought this cd was very good! Very high-energy (like me!!) and fun to dance to! Here are my opinions on the songs:
1. Poke'mon Theme: Basically the main song to the series, with one difference--it's extended! A good song to learn the lyrics to and see how well you can sing it.
2. 2b a master: Another good song, and good to listen to if you like to play the Poke'mon video games, like I do.
3. Viridian City: This song annoyed me at first, but I got used to it. Now, I like it, but it still isn't my favorite song on the cd. (My favorite song isn't for a while yet, but you'll find out soon enough.)
4. What kind of Poke'mon are you?: I liked this one too! It's very close to a rap song, so if you like rap, this is the song for you. But be warned--some people can mistake "grass" for a bad word (you know which one folks).
5. My best friends: This one was annoying to listen to, so I don't like it very much. I think the concept is good, but I just don't like the music.
6. Everything Changes: Okay, but not my favorite song. I didn't really go for this song, but hey, some of you might like it.
7. The time has come (Pikachu's goodbye): Kind of emotional and a bit boring in some parts. I don't like Ash, so if you are like me, I would advise just give this song a chance, and if you don't like it, don't listen to it.
8. Poke'mon (Dance mix): High-energy, fast, and good to dance to! It's fun to make up your own dance routine to go along with the music!
9. Double Trouble (Team Rocket): MY FAVORITE SONG!!!!! I love, Love, LOVE the first part in the song, but then again, I also love, Love, LOVE the whole song!!!!
10. Together Forever: I didn't go for this one either, but if you like it, well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
11. Misty's song: I loved this one! Hey, I may LOVE Team Rocket, but I like Misty in this song. I have a major crush on a boy at my school (Well duh, that means that I am a girl) and this is a good song to listen to if you have a crush on someone.
12. Poke'rap: C'mon, who DOESN'T love this song? High-energy, totally Poke'mon, and good to dance to! You might even challenge yourself (or your friends) to sing along with the singers!
13. You can do it (If you really try): One word-- BORING. You might like it, and that's perfectly fine, but I just don't care for it.
Overall, I liked this cd (ESPECIALLY #9!!!!!) and would TOTALLY recommend it to serious fans of the show. A good cd to listen to if you are just beginning to like the show too!!

I really liked this CD, which the Pikachu's Jukebox clips are from. I listen to it as much as possible, and am I bored yet? NO WAY! 2BA Master was my favorite, but all of the tunes are very catchy and easy to memorize(mostly). It comes with a music video of the full length poke-rap which you can acess by putting the CD in your computer and downloading quicktime if you don't already have it. THIS CD ROCKS! (literally)GET IT, OR YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING! bye!
- I love this CD!!!!

I realy like The Theme Song,Best Firends,Together Forever, and Mistys Song. Id give it 100000000000 stars, but the highest is 5. I like the first part went they said Ash:Good night Brock,Good night Pikachu,Good night Misty, see you in the morning. Misty:Good night Ash, sweat dreams. Then she sings the song, at the end of the song Misty whispers Misty:I love you, then Ash wakes up and says Ash:Did you say something, Misty? Misty:Me? No nothing, I didnt say anything, Ash, Good Night. I realy think this is a great CD. If you dont have it Buy it, youll realy be Moved.

This CD was the first Pokemon music CD released. It was excellent. Containing 10 new songs to make it better. These songs are also played on Kids WB at the newer episodes they play "Pikachu's Jukebox" containing songs from this soundtrack. Overall it was excellent. Although when Pokemon: The First Movie came out, I bought that CD and did a little comparison. Once the new soundtrack came out, I dropped the excellent to a very good. Or in other cases, five stars to four.

Hello this is the Government of Fads. We are sorry to report that you at Pokemon are causing much trouble. It seems that you have created something much harder for the world. Little kids are your victims. Do you have mercy?! Children do not need this in their young age. It seems that children have become "Pokefanatics". We at the Government of Fads do not approve of this behavior. Children have become ripoffs and con artists. Suppose a young child is giving away a fifty cent card for an fifty dollar card. Now when the child finds out about this, he will break into tears. Doesn't that make you sad. Childern have to focus on their work in school, not Pikachu. We have seen many fads in this decade alone, but nothing like this. You cause uproars in schools. You try to make this world better, but all you do is make it worse. With every step you take, including making the CD, you do something, but it is not good. Govenment of Fads
