Good introduction to musical instruments By A32COZ78TH6NFE on 2006-11-10
I'll admit I bought this for my 4 year old who not only blows into it but throws it and bangs it agaisnt the TV. So although he wanted it I probably should've waited a few years to show him just how cool the trumpet is.
I think kids who show signs of interest in music will enjoy it. It actually sounds like a harmonica but what do you expect for $14. Still, the valves do work and produce different notes so that's really the point to it. Getting them familiar with how an instrument works. They even have a musical pieces on the back of the box with color coded notes so your young Dizzy Gilepsie and can follow along.
Aw go ahead a grab it, why not?
My son Miles approves of this message.

Great instrument that's really an instrument! By A29ZQX7ACC9ZV3 on 2007-01-05
The child playing this trumpet must really blow air into it and press the keys to get it to play music. This is so refreshing, since a lot of "musical instruments" for kids now are all battery powered musicboxes that don't require any skill or give any sense of accomplishment when played. Bravo to the company who makes this!
For $10 extra bucks... By A3FFIB2KSL4C7Y on 2007-04-13
My two-year old LOVES the trumpet. He even sleeps with it. The first one he had broke so we needed to replace it. Unable to find one in town, I chose between the two here on Amazon.
I'm sure now that that one we originally had was not the Bontempi brand. The Bontempi is made of that thin plastic while (I believe the $24 one) is like what we had - that thicker waxy feeling plastic.
The first only broke after a year of hard daily use and a guest who didn't see it before they stepped on it. This new one, I fear won't last as long.
Consider the $24 one if you think you're child will really love to play it as much as mine does.
LOVE IT! By A2S03J6BK3Q9FG on 2007-01-20
All year long, my three and a half year old daughter asked for a digital camera for Christmas. 3-weeks before Christmas, she sat on Santa's lap at the mall and asked for a TRUMPET of all things. I immediately came home and searched online. Everyone had the colorful play trumpets that were electronic with diferent characters on them, but none of them looked real! And I'm pretty sure that my daughter was expecting Santa to bring a real trumpet, so I found this, ordered it and it was here BEFORE the estimated delivery date!
It is extremely lightweight (cannot be used as a weapon), each button has a different tone to it AND it looks real (besides the fact that it's not brass). She loved it! She plays it all the time and unbelievably, it's not the most annoying toy she has. I would recommend it to anyone with young children interested in musical instruments.
great toy! By A2WBO8AMK058TH on 2007-03-17
My 3 year-old loves it! It is the most realistic toy trumpet that I've come across, but it is still a toy. We have had it for about a month and one of the keys no longer plays. It is still good buy, though, and it is a great alternative to other toy trumpets that don't play like real musical instruments. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase!

My son wanted a trumpet so I ordered this one for him. It's very durable and he likes it however he has a hard time playing. Overall this is a good insturment I would order from this company again.

My 4-year old granddaughter is a huge fan of Einstein videos and one has a trumpet. At her request I bought her one and she plays right along with the videos now. She loves it!! I highly recommend it, with her tiny fingers she can still operate the keys.
- My son's favorite toy
     By A2TKRC2VGA8508 on 2007-10-26
I bought this trumpet b/c it was the only one that I could find that was not a real one but still durable. My son is very musical and could not wait for the toy to arrive in the mail. It looks almost like a real one. The back of the box even had music instuctions so that it was easy to play a few songs. The only set back is that it sounds nothing like a real one (it sounds like a whistle). But my son is still very happy because he now has a trumpet like daddy's.
- Looks like fun, but not very good quality

My daughter asked for a trumpet for Christmas. She's only four, but she loves musical instruments. She takes good care of her toys, so we were both diappointed when one of the knobs broke off within a few days. She thought it was really great until this happened...I'm disappointed with the quality of the purchase.

The toy trumpet is beautifully made. My Granddaughter is happy with it, however there is no instruction on how to play different songs. There are four colored buttons on the trumpet but no songs to play and we can't seem to contact the company who makes it.
- My son won't put it down.

My 4 year old has been asking for a trumpet for months. After doing a search online, the Bontempi seemed the perfect fit. How right I was. He rec'd it for his birthday today and has been beaming from ear to ear.
- great for 3 yr old

My son has not stopped playing with this trumpet he got for Christmas. Fun, easy to use. Would buy for him again.
- It is what it needs to be for kids

I wrote a review for the saxophone as well. My [...] son loves both of these horns he got for christmas. They are his favorite toys. He and my [...] daughter love them and play them all the time. They both play different notes when pressing the keys and are a perfect size and very light weight for kids of this age range. My kids love them and I would recommend them to any parent with enough patients to encourage their kids' musical talents. Expect loud tooting. But it's better than fighting. :)
- trumpet - just OK
     By AW5HQHT9Q65PO on 2007-12-29
received for christmas for my 2 1/2 year old. She likes to carry it around and blow on it. She is used to buzzing her lips like playing on a real horn and this toy trumpet only proudces sound when you blow without buzzing and while a button (valve) is pushed. Its OK for the look of a trmpet and she can make a couple of notes but not good for much else. Only produces three four tones with each of the buttons.
made from plactic that doesn't appear too durable.

Our daughter is two years old and loves her Bontempi musical instruments. We are trying to teach her the importance of gentle handling though - due to the light construction of bodies and keys/valves.
