Hoover does better with their vacuums than their bags By A2E7E9EWADK4S6 on 2000-06-07
First the complaint - these bags are awfully pricey considering that they fill up so fast. The bag is too big for the compartment it's supposed to fit into, so you have to fold it over at the top and bottom to get it to fit into the allotted space. Changing the bag is a big hassle because when you pull the old bag off, it's full of all that fine dust you were trying to keep out of the house and it all goes *POOF* when you try to delicately remove the bag from the vacuum. I see a name brand competitor has come up with a solution to this by putting a little trap door thingie by the bag's opening, so when you pull the bag off the vacuum, all the dust doesn't fly out of the bag and go *POOF*. Okay - the positive - The Hoover bags do a superior job of trapping fine and itty-bitty dust particles. But I do wish they'd figure out how to make bag removal and installation easier. Or just make the bag a different shape so you're not contorting it to get it into the allotted space.
five stars for filtration, zero stars for ease of use By A2E7E9EWADK4S6 on 2007-09-10
First the complaint - these bags are awfully pricey considering that they fill up so fast. The bag is too big for the compartment, so you have to fold it over at the top and bottom to get it to fit into the allotted space. Despite having owned this model vacuum for seven years, I still need three hands to get the corners of the over-sized bag tucked into place before slamming the compartment shut.
Changing the bag is a dirty bit of business, because when you pull the old bag off, all that super-fine dust at the top goes *POOF* and escapes from the bag's opening . We've taken to putting the vacuum on the back porch before opening up the bag compartment to keep dust out of our home.

Okay - the positive - these Hoover paper bags do a decent job of trapping fine dust particles, but I do wish they'd figure out how to make bag removal and installation easier. Or just make the bag a different shape so you're not contorting it to get it into the allotted space.
More recently, I've started using Filtrete (3M) bags. Made of cloth, they're lined with an electrostatically charged media which captures dust and dirt down to .3 microns. Because they're cloth (instead of stiff paper, like these bags), they're much easier to install into the Hoover vacuum.
You Get What You Pay For By A22Z0FZ6RUNWCB on 2004-10-14
This is the first Amazon review I have written but after reading some of the negative reviews on this item, I had to add my 2 cents worth. Although expensive, the price here is still $3 less than I found anywhere else (stores and the internet). This is the lowest price I have found these bags selling for (you get 3 bags in the pac). If you have allergies, you will appreciate spending a little more for a bag that really does trap the fine dust particles, etc. I do not have a problem installing or removing the bag. No dust escapes when I remove the bag.
I would also rather pay the shipping charges to have items delivered to my front door than driving around town, especially when you add in the time it takes you to shop, the cost of gasoline these days, and the risk of an accident when you drive.
Reasonable By A3DGHFV9UZA29C on 2001-07-21
Ok, the bag fills up fast, but then that's because the system does such a terrific job. One bag lasted two weeks, but then the cleaner itself gives an indication when the area is still dirty, so you tend to be more careful in vacuuming.Bag replacement is a bit clumsy but no more so than most machines. I had no trouble removing the bag and not spilling its contents. Yes, you have to fold the top and bottom over when you install it but that's because it unfolds when it fills up. Expense? Most vacuum cleaner bags are too expensive.
Just what the doctor ordered. By A231WM2Z2JL0U3 on 2001-08-04
Well, if you have allergies and need to cut down the ambient dust, these bags are purported to do just that. As a part of a total house hypoallergenic program, they seem to help. The price here is a bit cheaper than at my local retailer.
- Highway robbery for a simple product
     By on 2002-08-29
After shipping, this pack of 3 is right around the cost of buying it locally.P>There's nothing here worth 4 stars. The vacuum cleaner perhaps, but not the bags. It's a simple paper bag like any other; it's not rocket science. It's worth about $0.50 to manufacture, and they could make a profit at ($$$)/bag. This type of pricing is nothing other than highway robbery since they have us latched already. My next vacuum might be one of those bagless models. If somebody wants to post something helpful, please let us know where if anywhere we can find these bags (inexpensive) from a third party.
- A little pricey but convenient
     By on 2003-01-25
The reviewer who complained so about the price could find these at her local ... chain store. These are standard bags available everywhere. Amazon is nice because you don't have to leave the house. For some an extra [bit of money] is worth the convenience.
- WAY OVERPRICED ITEM
     By on 2003-04-05
Absolutely RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED ... get a grip! Whoever would buy this item at this price and the extraordinary OVERPRICED SHIPPING doesn't know how to shop!
- Good Dust Eliminator
     By A11J34Y0TWUP58 on 2005-02-11
I find these bags to be very good in getting the tiny dust particles. Yes, I do find the bags in general to be on the pricy side especially since I have had several rip. At any rate, I have not had a problem with putting the bags on or taking them off. I vaccuumed up something accidentally and needed to remove the bag to get it out. As I attempted to carefully remove the bag (one I had just changed), it ripped right off of the cardboard ring and I had to replace the entire bag. As for the big "Poof" when changing bags, I try to be careful and haven't really had a problem.

- Pretty standard, easy to use
     By A2MXXHY9B4C2K8 on 2008-04-19
I use these for my Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum. They're pretty standard/easy to replace. I've been told they're a little small for vacuum cleaner bag, but I've had no problems.
- So...where can these be purchased in a b&m?
     By A2SJ4BHCC30B2X on 2005-11-18
I've had no success in finding the "Y" bags in stores. Anyone know where they are? Please share. Thanks.
- no problems
     By A2TAR0EOESVFLY on 2006-03-16
They're just vacuum bags, nothing special about them. But they're pretty durable, although they do fill up rather quick. No complaints otherwise.
- What I needed, delivered quickly
     By A3V8H8AEIV90XO on 2006-08-18
They don't sell vacuum bags in stores as much as they used to because there are so many different types of vacuums/bags. I was so frustrated looking for these, that it was a great relief when I got them by ordering on-line.
- great price for OEM bags
     By A1UHTJ2NZ0IYJH on 2008-05-08
I purchased two packages of bags and the price was the best I could find for the ones I needed for my Hoover. The bags look Hoover OEM and with the allergen filtrate which is great.
