Imagine if the ghetto got electrified. That's Stankonia, an album of street smarts doused with gasoline and ready to burn. When a thundering electric guitar collides with a relentless drumbeat on the molten "Gasoline Dreams," it dominates mind and body, setting the tone for the album. Dre and Big Boi spin a world of freaks, poets, preachers, and pimps, but most importantly, possibilities. This music messes with your head. --Lizz Mendez Berry
Big Boi and Andre 3000 make a monumental mothership connection on their utterly stupefying fourth album. At a time when the hip-hop "album" seems to be sadly declining in significance, Atlanta's finest deliver a classic package of space-case imagery, curbside poetry, and delicious experimental funk. While the boys still celebrate their big pimpin' lifestyles, "Gasoline Dreams" and the breathtaking "Humble Mumble" overflow with striking images of dashed American dreams and urban frustration. Stankonia's most beautiful moments come in the name of love, whether it's a celebration of the current ("Stanklove") or a lamentation of the past ("Ms. Jackson"). The love movement is manifested on the album's revolutionary production, combining the oozing, organic licks of P-Funk, the fearless, sexual audacity of Prince, some down-home Southern crunk, and even a little drum & bass ("B.O.B."). While Stankonia certainly isn't an "easy" album, its ambition and vision easily rank it among hip-hop's greatest in some time. --Hua Hsu

A Hip-Hop Masterpiece, plain and simple. By A105S56ODHGJEK on 2000-12-16
While most of the hip-hop coming out nowadays is filled with the same commercialized BS, Outkast continues to step their level up to new heights. Stankonia is a masterpiece, as was Aquemini, as was ATLiens, and as was their debut Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Not since A Tribe Called Quest came into the game have we seen a group drop more than 2 straight classics...Tribe managed 3 straight, but Outkast has just completed their fourth. The first two singles, B.O.B. and Ms. Jackson, are both extremely tight tracks, as is just about every track on here. So Fresh, So Clean, I'll Call Before I Come, Humble Mumble, Slum Beautiful. And Gasoline Dreams is so chilling that after one listen, you really will smell gasoline in the air. The list goes on and on. The standout though, if you could pick just one, has to be Red Velvet. The mesmerizing psychadelic beat fits perfectly with Dre & Big Boi's flows. Overall, this is an album you won't just bump this year and forget about. It's an album you'll bump forever ever....forever ever?....yes, FOREVER.
i stank i can i stan i can! By AUMA871BFN772 on 2000-11-01
Oh yeah them ATL boys are back in town and they are bringing with them their best album to date. That is saying something since their last 3 CD's are modern classics, well add another classic to the mix. Right away the first time i heard STANKONIA i was blown away, so many great beats and not only that..Great Music. The lyrics are their usual OutKast quality so it made for a very entertaining listen to. My favorites tracks are too many list, there isnt a bad song on the whole album....but Ms. Jackson and Humble Mumble really struck a cord with me. Go get this album even if you are not a hip hop fan..Outkkast trenscends all music..they are no stereotypic rappers like jay-z or puff daddy....outkast is the real thang!!!
OutKast keeps on doing it (4.5 stars) By AYB6IIG5BFLH1 on 2002-07-16
With three albums behind them OutKast has presented the listener with a different sound each go round. It is no different this time as Andre and Big Boi bring the hip-hop culture something new. The album starts off with the fast and high-pitched production on "Gasoline" and transitions nicely into the super smooth "So Fresh, So Clean". "Ms. Jackson" is the most well-known song from the album as it is a great song that will appeal to hardcore OutKast fans and first time listeners. "Snappin' & Trappin'" uses a dark, off-beat production to create a song that will dispel any thoughts anyone had of this album being more mainstream after "Ms. Jackson". "Spaghetti Junction" uses great instrumentation and has a very "Aquemini" vibe to it. "B.O.B." features the head spinning beat that makes for one of the most interesting and best songs on the album. "Xplosion" features a great verse by Cypress Hill's B-Real and he takes a nice shot at rap magazine XXL. "Humble Mumble" shows OutKast's diversity as they mix their great rapping ability with Erykah Badu's wonderful singing. "Red Velvet" is really nice song over a great beat. Very good storytelling from Andre and Big Boi. "Slum Beautiful" is OutKast at their "outcast" best with an extremely nice rapping/singing song. "Stankonia" is one of the funkiest and wildest songs OutKast has made, but past OutKast fans can appreciate this OutKast style love song. The only real problem with this album is the excessive amount of skits. There are no real need for them and it would have made the album a strong 17 tracks instead of a lengthy 24. Another small complaint is that it does not have a distinctive identity like their past albums. "Southernplayallisticadillacmuzik" had the benefit of being the debut album and was the original bridge of OutKast's creativity to hip-hop. "ATLiens" had a wonderfully relaxed feel to it as it is an extremely well-rounded album. "Aquemini" took live instrumentation in hip-hop to new a degree and created an album so sonically beautiful it is impossible to ignore. "Stankonia" seems to be a mixture of all three of these and does not develop its own individuality. Overall "Stankonia" is an extremely good album, OutKast's fourth best (no disrespect as their past three where classics). OutKast may not appeal to all fans, but all fans should give OutKast a try because their music gives the listener something original (and extremely good) to listen to in a time when hip-hop is becoming stagnant.
Take A Ride On the Stankonia Express By AWEXGES7MNB29 on 2001-08-10
With their fourth release, Outkast sets the ghetto on fire. Beginning with "Gasoline Dreams", Outkast blends electronic sound with pimp-hop lyrics. Listening to the whole album reveals about 30 different steals and sounds, varying from the thumping electronic beat of "Gasoline Dreams" to the laid-back G-funk reminiscant "So Fresh, So Clean" to the ballad-style "Ms. Jackson" to the old-school "Spaghetti Junction" to even the sugar-coated sex lyrics of "We Luv Deez Hoez". However, the stand out track is the Erykah Badu-featured "Humble Mumble"-- a song so fun and relaxing to listen to you feel like you're actually in the jungle. On this cut, Dre proclaims the entire idea behind "Stankonia" with: "She thought hip-hop was only guns and alchohol / I said "Hell Nah". This album is near perfect, the production is on-point and the lyrics are as good as they get. "Stankonia" is a perfect blend of electronic riffs and G-funk party-starting sound, and with guest appearences by Goodie Mob, B. Real, Erykah Badu & Slimm Calhoun. Once again, Outkast raises the already lofty bar of hip-hop excellence to a new level. "Stankonia" is the perfect hip-hop CD for any listener, fan of the genre or not.If you like Stankonia, check out: "Dead Prez - Let's Get Free", "Goodie Mob - Soul Food", "Dilated Peoples - The Platform", "The Roots - Things Fall Apart"
Colaboration of years of hard work pays off. By A1XD4CDMLKHE10 on 2000-11-01
For most of you that have been following the last three albums, Outkast has graced us with their hard-core experimental beats, an explicit message or story, and a fresh taste in the rap industry. If you were impressed before, Stankonia jumps over that ten fold with their newest blend of flavorful beats. I can only describe the album with one more word "Cornucopia". There are so many natural blends in this piece; a little something for everyone. Just in time for Thanksgiving...
- Outkast Has Done It again
     By A1B2WZOM4VAHPS on 2000-10-31
The long awaited Outkast CD is finally out. With smooth beats and lyrics that make skeptics fans, Outkast has done it again. It has been sometime since the last Outkast album, but with joints such as Miss Jackson, Outkast has proven again that they are some of the best rappers in the business. This is a must for any serious music lovers. I prefer the clean version, but this is a CD that is actually worth buying instead of downloading! Way To Go Outkast!
- I'm sorry, Ms. Jackson. I AM FOR REEEEAL!
     By AGAMDS21PJZPK on 2000-11-04
After 3 slammin' CDs, Outkast can no longer announce a release date and just come out with a CD, they have to meet or even exceed all of their fans' expectations from their previous work. "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" brought a new light to the hip hop world. There was the east coast and west coast and even a South, but few new about the Dirty South and ATL. Outkast did a good job of bringing that out in the open and impressed many hip hop fans with their debut CD. "Player's Ball", the title track, and "Git Up, Git Out" w/The Goodie Mob were the singles and their CD overall got a lot of attention in the hip hop world. Then with "ATLiens" and "Aquemini", Outkast only solidified what they have done and what they mean to hip hop. Few groups dare to try new things. They are scared because they may lose their fan base if they don't stick to the same old formula as before. Outkast defies that by always coming up with new and innovative ideas to make their music and hip hop better overall. Their 4th CD, "Stankonia" puts Outkast on the map even further. The first two singles on "Stankonia", "B.O.B" and "Ms. Jackson" are two totally different songs but they capture the attention of their fans as they always do. "Ms. Jackson" goes into depth on the subject of baby mother's mothers and sheds some light in general on the topic. "Ms. Jackson" is one of the best songs on their new CD. The Dungeon Family also shows up often on the CD as well: "Snappin' And Trappin'" w/Killer Mike & J-Sweet, "Gangsta S" w/T Mo of The Goodie Mob, Slimm Calhoun, & C-Bone, as well as, "Slum Beautiful" w/Cee Lo of The Goodie Mob, will remind you of Dungeon Family classics of the past like "Watch 4 The Hook" and "Black Ice". Outkast also shines on their own as always with songs like "So Fresh, So Clean", "Spaghetti Junction", "Explosive" w/B Real from Cypress Hill and "I'll Call Before I Come" w/Gangsta Boo of Three 6 Mafia & Eco. Big Boi and Andre 3000 have put Outkast on the map for a lifetime. Their place in hip hop history is solidified and their CDs are getting better each time out. If I wasn't such of a fan of their 1st CD, I would say this is their best. If you don't have all of Outkast's CDs in your CD collection, you don't know what you are missing.
- One of the decades best (so far)
     By A21FG8B0PGE446 on 2006-08-10
It is a testament to Outkast's greatness that they made a cd that should be on many critics top 50 list of the decade, one that made many "best of" lists in the year it was released, and it's not even their best work (you will have to pick up 1998's Aquemini for that pleasure). But Stankonia does deserve its praise and place among great cds both within and outside of its broad rap genre. This record reminds me a great deal of the Clash's London Calling, a cd that came out twenty years earlier, if not in sound but in style and spirit.
Like London Calling, what Stankonia does is expertly takes the roots and influences of a talented group and effectively filters them through their own developed sound, at once paying tribute to those influences and also building on a diverse and eclectic range of styles. This creates something that is at once in line with what has come before it but also on a higher level. Not an easy thing to do.
From the Hendrix meets Public Enemy opener "Gasoline Dreams" to the soul swagger of "So Fresh, So Clean" to the bombastic "B.O.B" this is hip hop music for people who may not like hip hop as well as for the genre's most die hard followers.
In addition to those great songs, the huge single "Ms. Jackson" is also found here, as well as hidden gem's "Toilet Tisha" (a tragic tale of ghetto suicide) "Humble Mumble" (which features
some of Eryka Badu's best verses) and the truly dirty south "I'll Call Before I Come" a rap song that could have only come out of the south, generally, and by Outkast, specifically.
The skits may be a bit off putting for some, but in my opinion they set up and add depth to the upcoming track and gives the listener pause between the wide ranging and well made tracks of this truly diverse masterpiece.
- Don't everybody like the smell of Stankonia?
     By A2C5GWNZRMO1NP on 2001-01-21
Anyone who listens to hip-hop, not just the videos or radios, but real hip-hop, knows that OutKast makes better music than anyone working in the genre today, solos or groups. All Stankonia does is further that argument, and prove that these cats are just getting warmed up. Every track here is excellent, though the album does slow down considerably in the last few songs, but slower doesn't mean it's any worse. Let's start from the top: "Gasoline Dreams" cuts right to the heart of what's going on with kids today, and it's guitar line picks up where "Chonkyfire" on Aquemini left off. "Ms. Jackson" is a font of natural wisdom, whose message extends farther than the song's babymama story. "Spaghetti Junction" is one of OutKast's best songs ever, in terms of tight flows and head-spinning rhymes. "BOB" is a beats "at a thousand miles per hour" marathon. "Humble Mumble" sounds like the sophisticated future of hip-hop. and "Gangsta Sh*t" reaffirms that when it comes to walking the line between artistry and representing the streets, no one beats OutKast. in fact, no one beats OutKast at anything they do. Stankonia is Stanktastic, and everyone should own a copy.
- Just to recognize the growth in the kats is amazing
     By A2K41UD90E56FP on 2001-06-11
I was apart of that radio listening audiance when Laface records first drop the first single "Players Ball" off thier upcoming Christmast album back in 93 or 94 by two slick clean cut kats straight off the street of ATL. The song totally shook me up for weeks....... finally someone from the southeast with skills on the mic, spitting rhymes with a southern slang and it wasn't booty shake. Just compare the sound of Dre's voice of 1994 to the now Andre3000 of today. A lot of growth and maturity took place over the past 4 CD's.This CD falls right in line with the other great works by this dynamic duo. Tight, TIGHT beats........ great production....... off the wall metaphors and rhymes. Outkast brought back the meaning of southern pride to the hip-hop game and all the ATL headz and world wide give props where it's much deserved. Dungeon Family still drops the best MC's in the south and Outkast was the first of many more to come.
- Don't be afraid to get this "Stank on ya"!!!!
     By A2XBGP1I7L3Z0M on 2000-12-28
At a time when other platinum rappers are content to rehash the same thing over and over again, Atlanta based Outkast are the exception to the rule. Their fourth album, Andre 3000 and Big Boi continue to leave their contemporaries in the dust. The smooth pimp vibe of cuts like "So Fresh, So Clean", "We Luv Deez Hoes", and "Slum Beautiful" prove that they haven't totally left behind the sound established them. The first two cuts released from "Stankonia" are major standouts. Not many rappers would be bold enough to put drum and bass beats together with a gospel choir like they did on "B.O.B.(Bombs Over Baghdad)", or combine backwards drum loops and funky live bass(former Cameo member Aaron Mills plays bass on this) on "Ms. Jackson". One of the best rap albums of 2000. Don't miss this!!!!
- THE BEST IN HIP HOP TODAY!
     By A23LRRMA2GMVQU on 2000-11-07
Outkast can rest assure their place in music history is now secure. They are creative, experimental, political, spiritual and humorous. They can easily stand alongside Public Enemy, De La Soul and NWA as one of the greatest groups in rap history. If you really listen to Outkast's music and all four of their albums you began to appreciate them as musicians and artist and not just rappers. "Stankonia" is yet another crowning achievement for the best group in hip hop.....ah F' it, in music period.
- Deja Vu
     By AE5A9O1YOM9WZ on 2000-12-07
as i listened to this cd for the 1st time, i immediately started to think about all the parliament/funkadelic albums i used to listen to in the 70s. this music cannot be categorized as 'rap' or hip-hop because of some of the incredible inventiveness on display for your listening pleasure.you will be treated to clever rhymes, beats, and hooks, and some of the strangest electronic music since the aforementioned parliament. my favorites include 'So Fresh, So Clean' and the very funny 'I'll Call Before I Come', which feature all of the above. since i had previously dismissed outkast as just another southern rap group, i would have missed out on this gem by not being open-minded. if you like creative music, it doesnt get any better than this.

Better go get it before everyone else. peace
- Cementing their standing as hip hop megastar icons
     By A149OQJD0ASI07 on 2006-02-12
OutKast had been out for a minute but this album made me become a true fan and recognize their creativity.
This album is crunk, it's exciting, it's brilliantly put together and a fine example of hip hop at its best.
OutKast is pioneering and yet so fantastic they're almost mainstream now -- but in a good way (OutKast is the anti-Black Eyed Peas, LOL).
Stankonia just continues OutKast's everchanging shape that keeps taking hip hop to higher levels.
If you've listened to Southernplayalisticadilacmuzik, ATLiens and Aquemini, you probably know to expect the unexpected on this album.
Stankonia is one of the hip hop albums I always throw up in debates as proof that good hip hop can still simultaneously make you dance/groove and think at the same time.
That Andre 3000 is deceptively very, very political, but you gotta pay attention or you'll miss his messages.
Highly recommended LP. Fun and crunk with hidden social/political commentary. One of my all-time favorite albums.
- KAST HAS ALWAYS PROVIDED US WITH THE BEST
     By A3OETQEC18OA8D on 2004-09-22
This sint my favourite OutKast Cd but its up there. I loved all of their stuff. This is an amaaaaazing CD. I am so tired from writing a long review for ATLiens, go get that and this right now. This CD's stand out tracks are B.O.B. That was voted best OutKast song. The lyrics in Ms. Jackson are so good. Don't be a hater because OutKast is different from what you're used to. What are you scared of? Think you will lose your cool if you stop listening to 50 Cent? Oh yeah. Spaghetti Junction is Craaaaazy too. Alright I'm singing off. I hope I helped you make a choice. The right choice would be to pick this and all the other OutKast CDs up right now!!!!!!!

First of all, I don't know a thing about hip hop. My record collection consists of various rock albums from Elliott Smith to Metallica to Blinker The Star. Before I heard I heard Stankonia, I didn't own an album of anything that even resembles hip hop--nor have I even considered buying one. Now, not only do I OWN a hip hop album, but I feel the need to come here on Amazon and rave about it--so I will. Believe everything you hear about Stankonia. It's fantastic. It's incredible. It's perfectly layered. It doesn't sell itself out to most of the hip-hop cliches of the 90's. It's here to be listened to--this isn't background music. However, I still think (and hope) that Outkast can break more hip hop rules in the future and make a classic album that ALL non hip hop fans can appreciate (though Stankonia comes close). They could stand to get rid of the 'interludes,'(to me they ruin the flow of the album) and they could tighten up the arrangements of songs, creating entire musical compositions, not just beats that fade out in the end (just about every single song finds a niche in the end and fades to nothing--how about stepping up and tacking an 'end' onto it?). But for now, this is good enough. Heck, this is better than good enough--this is amazing. "Gasoline Dreams" is possibly the best hip-hop tune I've ever heard, and "Bombs Over Baghdad" and "Humble Mumble" are right up with it. I'd also love "Ms. Jackson" just as much if MTV and M2 hadn't played it to death--and "?" could be even better if it was more complete. In the end, Outkast has created something here that has changed at least one man's opinion of the entire genre. Not only am I listening to it, but I'm enjoying... it. Believe what you hear about Stankonia--it's all that and more.
- Best album of the year!!!
     By A1S21YYLORQSPI on 2001-01-26
This album is absolutley breath taking, one of the best cds to come out in years definatley the best this year. Best tracks are "I'll call before I come","So fresh, so clean",and "BOB".All the songs are tight, and all the beats are fat, pick this album up whether you like rap or not everyone can enjoy this one. Others top albums include: Kid A-Radiohead,Broke-Hed pe,Beyond the front-Black Eyed Peas and Choclate Starfish-Limp"MotherF#*king"Bizkit.
- I'm sorry Ms. Jackson, Outkast's for REAL!
     By A35NWEI1L3EJ1Z on 2000-11-21
Outkast just represents, and represents. You would think after 3 albums Outkast would sound played out or at least a little repetative. Now with their 4th album out the diversity just continues. Outkast to me is the greatest Rap/R&B/Hip-Hop group out there. Stankonia is like an early x-mas present. "BOB" was released this summer, and after hearing it i couldnt wait for Stankonia. "Ms. Jackson", "Red Velvet", "Gangsta Sh!t", and "So Fresh, So Clean" are some of the bests songs on this cd. Goodie Mob represents like a Mug on "Gangsta Sh!t". If you've liked anything you've heard from Outkast I suggest getting this cd, its prolly the tightest cd of 2000, and maybe 2001 too. One more thing before i go, i think its great for the Hip-Hop nation that Outkast hasn't broken apart and done their own projects; even though i have no doubt that dre and big boi would excel if they did, but for these two to stay together thru 4 albums i give them props!!!! Go Get the Album, cuz, your friends will!
- Very good, especially compared to most the rest of today's rap
     By A26NLSTT75FMJM on 2007-12-06
The fourth album by this Georgian rap duo is widely considered to be about as good as alternative hip-hop gets. And you know what? Once you get past the interludes (the worst of which being the forty-second "I'm Cool", pretty much that title phrase on repeat. Fun...), I more or less agree. Like the similarly-minded Gorillaz, they know how to use headphone stuff to good effect - if it weren't for the quirky sounds, "So Fresh, So Clean" would be just another R&B ballad, but with them it's elevated to a pretty high level. And speaking of ballads, come on, who doesn't like "Miss Jackson"? I mean, I'm not even a rap fan, but I know a good song when I hear it, and that's one right there. But it's not just ballads: They really rock the house on the Public Enemy-influenced "Gasoline Dreams", a dense mix of samples; "Spaghetti Junction" is very funky; the nonstop rant "B.O.B." (that stands for "Bombs Over Baghdad") is downright hyperactive, but that's a great rhythm track it's got behind it. And just for variety's sake, they get all spacey and such on the psychedelic "I'll Call Before I Come" - think "Pink Floyd hip-hop", if that's even possible - and even include a haunted-house harpsichord on "Xplosion", as well as adding African rhythms to "Humble Mumble". Not all of it is great - I can safely say I do not like "We Luv Dees Hoes" (isn't OutKast supposed to be the alternative to stuff like that?); the noise attack "?"; or clichéd tracks like "Gangsta S***" or "Red Velvet". And even those are redeemed by the near-heartbreaking "Toilet Tisha" and the title track, with prominent guitar. Yeah, I don't even like rap, and this is good. A tough one not to like, even with the fillers and skits and such. It is a bit to long, though. Do not get this confused with your stupid "G-G-G-G-UNIT!" crapola. Big difference.
- Outkast dropped another Classic
     By A1JR2I28JIJFG2 on 2005-04-22
No one thought Outkast could possibly put out another album that would rival their previous 3 (spcm,ATLiens,Aquemeni)...But Outkast came back funkier than ever and dropped another landmark hip hop album.....A lot of long time OUtkast fans such as myself were truly proud to see them blow up as much as they did when this album dropped...IF there was any group that deserves to achieve iconic status, its OUtkast...They put in their work and deserve the succes they've achieved...
With that said, I still feel their first 3 albums were slightly better...So if you're reading this, make sure you at least pick up ATLiens or Aquemeni.....
Back to Stankonia....The album starts off wild like all 'kast albums...."Gasoline Dreams" is superb...The lyrics hit hard just like the beat...."So Fresh So Clean" was a monster hit and rightfully so...That was such a clever idea and the hook was so addicting....."Ms.Jackson" was/is the greatest tribute song ever to baby mommas..another great concept followed by a dope beat and hook.....
Theres also a lot of hidden gems on the album take a more serious route such as "toilet tisha"....
Overall, some might say Outkast lost their edge and fell off on this album...I disagree tho...Outkast came w/ fire on this album...And most important they never strayed too far from their roots/beliefs they've expressed since their first album...Tho u can definately tell they matured....
Grab this album asap , its definately among the greatest hip hop/pop albums of the last 5 years
- I got 2 copies

THIS ALBUM IS A MUST HAVE!!!! I got this cd the first day it came out and now this is real rap. I liked the way that outkast
stays different from other rapppers. I wouldn't burn it because it's worth my $14 or $15. Also get southernplayastic, ATLiens and their lastest double disc cd.
- Mind Blowing...Simply Astounding.

If you're ready to hear something that will change you're life, play Bombs Over Baghdad at a very loud volume. After this track, soak in the surreal funky-ass hip-hop from another dimension. Free your mind and your ass will follow.
- Outkast- Stankonia
     By A2L3WEVFOCA7OY on 2004-02-03
Outkast's fourth album "Stankonia" (2000) is yet another great album from Rap's most consistent duo. Andre and Big Boi continued in being experimental, while delivering music for people who enjoy many different music genres. "Gasoline Dreams" is a powerful track that starts the album off strong, and has Outkast dropping some dark rhymes. "So Fresh, So Clean" is an early light hearted track, while "Ms. Jackson" is an outstanding track, with meaningful lyrics and an impressive chorus that stays inside ones head. Definetly feeling "Spaghetti Junction", the chorus, instrumental and Outkast rhymes are all on point. The fastpaced, frenetic "B.O.B." (Bombs over Baghdad) is a unique track that blends some sick rhymes with some crazy beats. Soulful singer Erykah Badu drops in for another standout "Humble Mumble" and laidback deep "Toilet Tisha" feat. Goodie Mob flows through nicely. "Slum Beautiful" is another memorable track, on an album full of them. The album closes off with the albums longest track the title track "Stankonia". I have to say seven skits is to much, but thankfully the music between those tracks makes up for that.
- Freakified ghetto landscape
     By A1HY4CVW8K1QFQ on 2003-09-19
Like a Technicolor bolt out of the stale hip-hop formula, OutKast took a huge gamble with "Stankonia" that mostly paid off. An intense 73 minute head rush where everything is turned on its head and spun around a million times. Electric guitars, elephants and oozing sex fuel this album and make it one of the most tremendous achievements of the new decade. Inspiringly creative and unstoppably funky, it's off to Stankonia...
- GREAT!!

One of the few Rap CD's i enjoy. To me it takes a major talent to rap. Rap has to be unique or else it doesnt appeal to me. We've seen some greats in the past Young MC, Funkmaster Flex, Run DMC. We've seen few in our Modern Times Nelly, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Wyclef and The Fugees, Busta Rhymes. But nothing seems to compare to the sounds of Outkast. I usually listen to punk. I rarely listen to rap. But i got this CD cause i loved B.O.B. This CD is amazing. It is the way all rap should be. Nice and fast. But sing-alongable at the same time. IT is great. And yes it is worth my five stars. These guys should be the biggest rap group round today. They have a way with words. They have a way with beats. They dont sample. They write songs that touch the heart. And some that make us laugh. With songs like "Ms. Jackson" We feel the emotional turmoil of the song. We know what he is going through. And with songs like B.O.B. we feel their party vibe. This is a great CD that i feel anyone could enjoy. Coming from a punk rocker everyone should love this!!
- Outkast's Best

This is just the furthest evolution of Hip-Hop to date and light-years ahead of anything else out there... still. Want an idea of how good Stankonia is? The weakest track, Snappin & Trippin, is the weakest because it would be a single for anyone else, instead of all-time hottest Outkast southernplayalistic funk. Stankonia opens with the hard electric guitar and Gasoline Dreams and never lets up--the short but brilliant intermissions scattered through the tracks really give structure to this album other compilations lack (not to mention a bit of self-depreciation humor)--then BREAK!!! you've got another hot piece of muzik comin at you. If there's a best track, I'd say it's B.O.B.--the opening alone makes it one of the top party songs ever. But don't leave out the soul in Ms Jackson; the mind-bogglingly fast flow of Humble Mumble; hardcore hipness of Xplosion, sing along with So Fresh, So Clean; make out (maybe a little more)to Stankonia(Stanklove); learn about Gangsta (...), all these tracks are the BOMB. The best Hip-Hop album out there, bar none.

Don't buy the hype! This is indeed on of the finest albums of year, and quite possibly the most ambitious hip-hop effort in recent memory. Even though I'm primarily a rock fan, this album is too diverse and unique to be ignored by fans of any genre. Outkast have risen above the recycled beats and motifs of current hip-hop stars to release an album chock full of hooks, straight raps, and experimental, yet always groovy, beats. It's hard to believe that the same artists produced songs as varied as the ferocious "Gasoline Dreams" to the sensual "Stanklove". Ignore the detractors, who are mostly purists who don't like their expectations to be twisted and expanded. This album is a testament to the range of two fine artists who are exploring the limits of hip-hop. Stankonia is one of those long, expansive albums that keeps it's energy going throughout a rollercoaster of very different tunes -- the last album I can think of that had a similar feel was Prince's "Symbol" album, which also successfully bounced all over different musical terrains.

For an album to be rated as five stars, all of the songs on that album should be consistantly good, but not too much alike in style and quality. Diversity is appreciated and in Outkast's new album "Stankonia", diversity seems to have been a nessesity for them on all levels and stages of production. There are only a few songs out of the twenty-two tracks that are on the album that remain inconsistant to the rest and if I could rate it as four and a half stars, I would. Still, it has become a favorite. The groups first and second albums ("ATLiens" and "SouthernPlayalistiCadilacMuzik") both had the same real issues and down to earth subject matter overtop of thick and inventive backdrops. "Aquimini", their third creation in the world of southern hip-hop, was, and remains, a breakthrough in both physical music such as beats, melodies, etc... and the mental side of music such as lyrics and production / development creativity. Now that Outkast has landed once more with "Stankonia", it's clear to see that this is one musical duo who has; learned from their mistakes, targeted their ever-growing audience, studied and researched who they are, what they are doing, and what they want to accomplish, then put it all down with intelligence, street-wise lyrics, an everflowing ability to rhyme, and with Dre 3000 and Big Boi having done the majority of the production on the album themselves, a new respect almost demands itself in the quality of their craftmanship. With tracks like "Mrs. Jackson" which describes Andre Benjamin's (Dre 3000) love affair with Erikka Bahdu that yeilded a baby boy but not a lasting relationship. The song was written to Erikka's mother explaining to her that some things just are how they are and that he loves her grandson and will be there for him. Other tracks include; the song "?" and "Bombs Over Bahgdad" who's up-beat tempo and lyrics have proved themselves over and over to a wide variety of people.
- Mrs Jackson Would Be Proud

Starting off with the song Mrs Jackson, this album was always destined for sucess. Mrs jackson is one of the key tracks on the album with other great songs like, B.O.B, Spaghetti Junction, Read Velvet and We Luv Dez Hoez. This album is one that i have been recommending to my friends for along time as i feel that they are missing out on so much, as it is a top class album from start to finish
