Half a year later... By AZSN1TO0JI87B on 2003-02-22
Well, I bought this CD book this past August, despite reading quite a few negative reviews. I own a lot of CD's (more than can fit in this book) and needed a place to store the majority of them. This case has many great aspects to it and many flaws. I will go through the pros and cons of it, in case you need a general idea of what you are buying.PROS: - Affordable - Lots of space - Sleeves don't get "white streaking" that other cases got - Sleeves don't rip - Material does not scratch CD's AT ALL (that's a first) CONS: - Handle is useless; if book is full and you lift it by the handle, it will probbably fall off - When full, the CD book will not open all the way - Lining on the inside has recently started to come undone - CD's in front & back can be difficult to get out at times Overall, this isn't a bad buy. It depends on what you need it for. I myself bought it because my CD's are never on the go. I never keep all of my CD's in my car, because if I had all of my CD's stolen, I would be devastated. I honestly can't recommend this for traveling purposes. It is extremely bulky (which is expected) and you can tell it's not meant to be moved much. However, the one thing that I love is that the fabric does not scratch any of my CD's. I can't tell you how many CD's I have that are all scratched up from other cases. All of my CD's that I have bought since August that are put in here are without a scratch. Conclusion: Buy it, but keep it home. Afterall, who needs to carry 320 CD's with them?
Too much of a good thing By AMMO4QDI42I0X on 2004-02-02
Prior to buying the Fellowes 320-disc case, I also owned a Caselogic 264-disc case. The Fellowes appealed to me because it was cheaper and held more. The case is ok for the price, but here are my two main complaints:First, after filling the case to capacity with 320 discs, I found it incredibly difficult to zip up the case. It was so cumbersome, I opted not to zip it up which leads to my second complaint...when I picked up the unzipped case by the handle (which I do with my Caselogic all the time), the entire binder fell out onto the floor. This has happened so many times that I now just have the binder out by itself without the zipper case. I'm getting ready to buy another case and this time around, I'll go back to the Caselogic-264.
Moderately useful By A3Q11LCVV405I2 on 2000-11-10
When I got my Fellowes 320 CD case in the mail, I was very pleased. I spent an hour loading all of my CD's into it. I showed it off to my friends, all of whom admired the stylish look and professional features. That is, until the stitching holding the handle on came loose two days later, leaving the handle attached at only one end. To top that off, a day after that, the zipper's stitching came loose as well, meaning that not only was I left with a CD case that I couldn't pick up easily, but now it couldn't close either. How utterly delightful.
Huge case but inferior to caselogic By A72VEQOQRCVR2 on 2001-03-27
I just bought this case about 2 weeks ago and after loading it up, it is just waiting to break. The handle is not reinforced nearly enough, and, although plentiful, the cheap attachement of the pages within the case is going to be a problem. If your csae pretty much just stays in the house and lives an easy life than this mammoth case is for you, but if you are like me and your case goes out and about to see the world then I am telling you to go with the case logic. This case was put together cheap.
should i buy another one? By A34RREM7D9GN05 on 2002-11-07
I have over 800 cd's in 15 different sized albums. I bought this album specifically for my cd and dvd burner. (Before you buy- don't forget to read the part about storing HALF the amount of cd's with their inserts.) This album is definately (as everyone else has said) pretty much for storage. Don't expect this thing to hold up if you're traveling around. If you're storing cd's back to back- they're hard to get in and out. I think they could have been a little more generous with the size of each pocket. I'm not sure about longevity... The black fabric that seperates the cd's is the direct connection to the spine of the album. Meaning there may be a tearing factor in the future. I think plastic reinforcement would have been a little more comforting to someone who is about to organize and alphabetize their cd's in this case. I guess if you're looking for a cheap solution for organizing and space saving this is it! So i guess that means I will be buying another one!
- Better price, Cheaper construction
     By ABSIJ0Q8N0VKP on 2002-03-01
This CD storage case is better suited to use at home, if you plan to put it in your car, look elsewhere. The Case Logic costs more for less space, but will hold up better. The CD's can be tough to grap one-handed if used in a car, the slot to pull the CD out is closed unlike the Case Logic.
- I have six of them!
     By on 2004-07-01
These CD binders are pretty good. I use them for my DVD backups. They do not SCRATCH discs at all unlike the CDPROJECTS binders. But I found that you can only fill them up with 160 discs because the discs in the inside pockets will bend if you close the binder. The outside handle looks like it would break off and you can't open this book all the way. Fellows made some poor design choices with this binder but it doesn't scratch the discs and that's all that matters to me. You shouldn't buy this if you want a binder that you can carry around. I will be buying more of these in the future.
- For CD Booklets Only
     By on 2002-01-27
I recently purchased a 300-disc cd changer and needed a way to organize the music I put in there. I'm using this album as a way to set up my music in jukebox form by only using the cd booklets in the album and numbering them. This way I can flip through the album and find exactly what I want to listen to. Since this will not be taken outside my house and will not be having disks put in/taken out repeatedly, it will be great for my use. However, if I were to use this as an actual cd album, I don't think it would make it for long. It's just not sturdy enough. The spine seems particulary succeptable to being pulled apart by the weight of 320 cds.
- Fellows CD Wallet
     By A1GZWPGIYCQLVP on 2004-12-11
At first I couldn't wait to get this. I ordered 2 at the same time. As I started to fill the pages, I started seeing the first of several problems. Pockets were tight and it would be very easy to scratch a dvd on the zipper. Speaking of zipper, it is very hard to work when the wallet is full. The other day, I wanted to see about getting more CD wallets (not necessarily Fellows) when I read the reviews here for this wallet. I read the part about not putting cd's in the inner pockets because they would bend. I went home and checked mine. Sure enough, when the wallet is full, the cd's are slightly bent. I would imagine if they were left that way for a period of time, they would probably stay curved.
- CD maniac
     By A1MVXDF6L9LTFP on 2005-02-08
I purchased 5 of the 320 capacity cases and started replacing the jewel cases with my new storage cases. I was very impressed with the set up and ease of placement. I have around 2000 cd's and was needing to get rid of the two large cd shelving units I currently used to open up my family room more. I used the cases with my cd booklets and put 160 cd's with books in the cases. They worked wonderfully. I put the book in the front sleeve and then the cd in the sleeve behind the book. This has worked out wonderfully. I now have all 5 filled with country and am purchasing 5 more to try and complete this task for rock. The only drawback I have found is the corners of the cases tend to not move down enough when you are filling the last few sections in the back of the book. Other than this, I do carry the cases by the handles and they do support the weight very well. All in all, it is a very good buy for the products usefulness.
- It is good for what is is, but not brilliant
     By A1U58436RQI0GI on 2006-03-15
We had the CD books inserted behind the CD, which makes it very bulky, but contain more. Better to use 1/2 the capacity, and place them one next to the other, if you can afford the space.
The book is large and well made. Personaly I would prefer such a thick book to be harder cover, with 'O' ring binder, which it isn't.
The pages are binded to the cover so you cannot move pages around, but rather have to move the disks. It is harder to alphabetize and add CD's this way.
Bottom line, a good, well built basic product.
- Probably a little too big...
     By A2X5PNQYV8MR9P on 2003-03-02
I bought this about 2 months ago and it was pretty much filled up. I really liked how many cds it held, but mine broke because of it. If you aren't really carrying this around much, then I would suggest you get this. Otherwise, yours will probably break like mine did. I was carrying it unzipped (stupid move on my part), it was like 90% full and the pockets on both sides just ripped and the pages held together by a plastic piece fell out. The pages are still together and I'm still using it, but it doens't look as nice without the outside + zipper.
- five for the idea
     By ATNZ6ZION5HI1 on 2004-01-03
The 'Case Logic' wallet holds 'only' 264 cds, compared with 320, but that is a -lot- of cds. The loose-leaf design, stronger construction,(the handle especially), and greater ease of access make it the first choice. I cut down the booklets, etc, and was able to fit the the full 264 with all the extras, still with good access. To have all of my boxes metamorphized into one sleek package (not much larger that my full-size binoculars' case), makes me happy every time I look over at it.
- Big and Bad!
     By A1SW1CR2I316PR on 2000-08-13
It's huge I thought I would never find a CD case big enough for all my CDs but here it is for an affordable price! Great for travel carries all your CDs in a small space if you are a DJ then this is the holder for you!
- Not What It Should Be
     By on 2002-12-02
Perhaps this item is more for storage on the shelf, it is definitly not for the tech on the go. First, when open, it does not lay flat, but at an awkward angle, thus the weight of the open pages and CDs rests on the end of the zipper. The zipper did not last long. Second, the slots for the CDs are a bit too tight. If you use just one side of each page, it is marginally acceptable, but using both sides makes it too tight and binding on the CD. Even using just one side, the top 1/8" of each CD on the bottom row overlaps the plastic slot from the row above instead of resting all nice & safe on the material. I think it is a great buy and unit for storing CDs in at the office if you do not have to use it daily, but on the road or frequent use will destroy this item.
- Pretty good for the price
     By A2ND5KWR7N5HVH on 2003-11-24
I bought this item in November of 2003. So far it's been a pretty good deal for the price.Things I found useful: - the handle that allows you to carry this wallet as a briefcase when it's zipped - good quality, I did not have any problems with the stitching - a little CD cleaning rag they include with the CD wallet Things not so useful: - the flaps are so high that it's sometimes hard to get the CDs in and out, if you want to store them at the beginning or the end of the wallet - the pages are stitched to the wallet, they are not your 3-ring binder, which makes me wonder where I'll get extra pages once something falls off
- too many Cds
     By on 2004-08-15
i only have 20 CDs and the holder holds 300 more so it looks empty if you open it from the back.
- Magic cloth
     By A269SC8K8DAFV3 on 2005-01-09
As a CD wallet, it's the only one I've ever found with more than 300 capacity--but the real reason I'm writing this review is the attached cleaning cloth (BRILLIANT WORK, FELLOWES).
I've fixed many a gunky rental which other methods had failed to purify, using only a bit of rubbing alcohol as assistance... Whatever this thing is made of, it's amazing
- Great case
     By AY29EH5KAUQGF on 2000-10-10
This case is bigger than I could have hoped for... It has a carrying handle and holds it's own shape... it's about 4-5 inches thick in a solid shape, so you can see why it needs a handle... :) It is everything I wanted in a case, and it's pretty cheap.
- Awesome Case!
     By A2476R8NIOJSFS on 2000-12-12
I love it. This case is huge. I still haven't filled it up yet,and I've had it for a while. I haven't had any problems with the zipper or handle. They work great. If you own a lot of cds. this case is a must have. It really helps to keep all of your cds organized and in one place.
- Great all purpose binder
     By A3NBUNFCCHQ6VN on 2001-04-17
If you want a binder that is sturdy and protects your cds while holding a ton of cds this is for you. The binder is big, but it has a firm binding which keeps the cds from getting smashed. I have four of these binders and wouldn't go with anything else unless Fellowes made a bigger binder.
- Great for consolidating your compact discs
     By A1TCF9M9FJVR89 on 2002-01-07
I use this to keep all of my computer software tidy. I don't tote it back and forth in a car, I don't put a lot of music in it, just software, and this Album is perfect suited for that because it has tons of space within a small form-factor.
- The best CD binder I've ever owned.
     By on 2003-04-10
I have Fellowes binders in 320disc, 224disc and 128disc sizes and the 320 disc version is easily the best. Even when it is completely filled, it is no bigger than the 224disc version. I think it's made possible by thinner pages and more synthetic cloth material. It's still very strong, the pages haven't had one tear and I haven't had a scratched or scuffed disc yet. It even comes with a handy CD wiping cloth attatched.Just one problem: One of the pages wasn't attatched properly and fell out when it arrived, but the rest of them are held in place strongly. Case Logic doesn't have a binder this big, and I feel that this is just as good as Case Logic, at a much lower price. I wish they made these in bigger capacities, if it's even possible.
- Fellowes CD Wallets
     By A3V4NIU0Q3BI2A on 2005-01-27
I was alittle reluctant about taking all of my CD's and putting them in books instead of their cases. This turned out absolutely awesome. I was able to get rid of over 500 jewel cases and now have all this extra room on my shelves. These books take up virtually no space compared to all of the jewel cases I had. And now I don't have to dust those cases. Also, my collection is now in alphabeticial order.
"I Love It"
- So far, so good!
     By A3K31XSVZ2SEOR on 2002-12-27
I have read the other reviews of people saying the material of this CD album is cheap and that the stitching falls apart easily. Well, I own two of these albums and the stitching on neither of them is falling apart. I own other CD albums too, and I will admit, the material used for those is a little better, but I have no complaints about the Fellowes 320 CD Album. It is the best value mixing an abundance of storage space at a low price.
- Great Value (a couple notes here)
     By A3P2KC1KC2URFQ on 2002-06-28
A couple things to note. Unlike the inserts shown on the smaller Fellowes album, these one's don't have the design that covers's the whole outside perimeter of the disc. These are of the common variety. Also the one I just ordered came with a pretty handy cd-cleaning cloth. Perfect for cleaning all the discs before transferring them into this bohemoth.
- It Is What It Is...
     By A3M6FW3728C8NA on 2002-12-09
This is obviously not for anyone "on the go". I don't go anywhere I need over 300 disks. I've purchase several of these to catalog and store my collection of music CD's. I've also needed space for the new CD's I'm downloading and burning. This is a great deal on a huge storage solution.
- Good not the best
     By AE4MCV22JSE2X on 2006-02-26
I was looking for a way to hold all my CD and DVD in a more efficent way. I have used fellows brand before. I out grew my case logic cd/dvd holder a few months ago. For the price the fellows is a good product but the handle is kinda generic and the overall looks is blah. It can hold 256 CD's no problem and came with a cloth to wipe of the dust. I like the feel of my Case logic holder but if I upgraded to 256 version I would had to have paid $10-15 more. I am happy with my purchase.
- Excellent choice
     By A1UO3EQBU8GGLR on 2006-03-20
This case is super durable and sits very nice on a book shelf. Great portability too with its sturdy handle.
- Excellent !
     By A3SZ8KGJRGTKOH on 2006-08-29
320 CD/DVD, durable, double sided storage... a really nice choice when you have hundreds of dvd or cds.
