Perfect for backyard barbecues or just whipping up an evening meal, this impressive grill has a cooking surface (22-1/2 inches in diameter) big enough to accommodate six large steaks, twice as many burgers, or up to a dozen kebabs. And the One-Touch Silver's classic kettle shape radiates heat evenly and keeps charcoal flare-ups to a minimum.

The barbecue pioneers at Weber--they've been making grills since 1951--know how to design a grill that lasts. The One-Touch Silver's porcelain-coated steel bowl and lid are exceptionally strong and designed never to rust, fade, or peel. The grill's hardware is of the highest quality. The aluminum vents and ash catcher won't rust, and the grill's tripod base, nylon handles, and all-weather wheels combine to make this Weber both exceptionally sturdy and easy to maneuver. Weber's patented One-Touch cleaning system--a clever setup of lever-activated blades--sifts ash out of the kettle and into the grill's removable catch pan. You never have to get your hands dirty--and emptying the kettle takes only a few seconds.

For those in search (or need) of culinary guidance, Weber includes a 31-page owner's guide filled with cooking tips and time-tested recipes for grilling everything from pork chops to bratwurst to Cornish hens. MPN: 741001 - UPC: 077924025303

    • Seems well-built and functional with very few annoyances.

      By A2AXQJDHWSJKCD on 2005-03-28
I bought myself this grill for Christmas when nobody else got it for me, and now I've had it almost three months and have used it quite a few times. I bought it based on the Amazon recommendations, and the recommendation of FoodTV host Alton Brown in his book, GEAR FOR THE KITCHEN. Also, in perusing the internet, I found the "Blue's BBQ" web site from Australia. One reader asks, "How did the Weber become the icon for the Australian BBQ?" Blue had to disappoint the reader by informing her that the Weber is actually American. But if it has that kind of reputation in Australia, is must be good.

Judging from the reviews here, I'll have to wait 20 years to see how it holds up. It does live on my back porch, but with the Weber cover.

It is fairly easy to assemble, and in my humble engineering opinion, seems well-made and designed with few exceptions. The Silver model has an ash catch-pan hung between the legs. The pan sits on top of spring clips clipped to the leg. After how well everything else went together, this seemed really cheesy to me. If you're a prefectionist, you'll go nuts trying to level the pan.

I guess that the "one touch cleaning" feature is the vanes on the bottom that also act to adjust the temperature in the grill by adjusting the airflow. If you swish them back and forth, opened and closed, it'll push some ash through the vent in the bottom. The problem is that the vanes themselves are wide and flat, and half of the ash just rides back and forth on them. I think Weber overstates this "one touch cleaning" feature.

The vanes closely fit the bottom shape of the grill when assembled, but after a couple of uses, one warped. I don't know if this is from heat, or something I lodged under it. I had to disassemble the vanes, and bend the offending blade a bit, and it's been perfect since.

I am a bit disappointed in some of the accessories, like the tool rack and little side table. They hang on the edge of the grill, and compromise the otherwise pretty good seal between the lid and grill. They also sell a lid rack, but note that the lid does comes with a hook in it so you can hang it on the edge of the grill, although it is certainly not as easy as using the optional rack.

Based on recommendations here, I got the 22" (larger) model. I can't disagree with that. Unless you just don't have the extra 4" of storage space or REALLY need a good grill, but just don't have the money, get the bigger one. It doesn't use that much more charcoal.

The other thing I scratched my head over was whether to get the Silver or Gold model. The differences were not completely clear to me until I actually got the grill. First, the Gold model adds a catch can that fits closely to the bottom of the grill instead of the pan I complained about. That would be nice. Maybe when you're grilling, hot specks of charcoal won't fall out the bottom and burn your legs, and if you grill somewhere where you don't want a lot of ash, this might be worthwhile. But the Gold is almost twice the price of the Silver, and I had a hard time justifying the additional cost.

The other feature added by the Gold is a grate with folding sides to allow you to add more charcoal when doing a long roast. A handy feature for sure, if you're cooking includes that, but I found those replacement Weber grates locally for twelve dollars, so wouldn't pay for the Gold model to get them.

And I guess that's another advantage of the Webers in general: They're so popular, replacement parts are easily found locally.

Sometimes, I long for the built-in side table of the Platinum, but that's a lot of money.

The grill came with a small cookbook that has proved useful. I don't know getting burgers and steaks done right has been such a hit or miss, trial and error, proposition that most people make it out to be. You look up in the little book, "Beef, 1-1/2 in thick, well-done (I know, Alton Brown wouldn't like me), 10 minutes first side, 9 minutes second side" and they come out perfectly.

DEFINITELY pick up a Weber charcoal chimney if you don't have one yet. It's the best way by far to start the grill - no kabooms, no fumes, no smell, no dangerous fluids stored in your house, and a good use for Florida Today newspaper. If you want to try something different, pick up the book AMERICAN PIE by Peter Reinhert and try the grilled pizza.

    • New plastic handles

      By A2VRWX7X6F2KH7 on 2000-03-30
I have used Weber kettle grills for over 10 years with very reliable service. I recently purchased one of the new Silver Series grills. They changed the handles from wood to plastic, and I find the plastic handles to heat up to the point where you cannot use them without a glove or towel. This was not a problem with the wooden handles.

    • Perfect backyard grill

      By A3VZH0PWLQ9BB1 on 2003-06-25
I love this grill. This is one of my four weber kettle grills I own.

Assembly is a snap. The only tool you'll need is a hammer to tap the wheel lugs on. In 15 minutes you can be lighting your coal.

The beauty of this grill is the kettle design which maximizes heat retention and allows the grill to act like an oven with the top on. I've cooked whole chickens, cabbage, bread, and pizza using this method. The top also has a hook on it so you can hang it from the side of the grill while you add sauce or tend to what you're cooking.

For best results at indirect cooking, use the hinged 22 1/2 inch grate. That way you can add coals throughout the cooking process without the danger of having to totally remove the cooking grate.

    • O.K. I admit abusing my grill

      By A20EEWWSFMZ1PN on 2000-06-01
I was not aware of what I was doing. I used to use it weekly until moving to an apartment complex. There was no room in storage so it sat out in the wind and rain for 8 years. Now I am in a house. But old habits die-hard. Periodically I go to use it and have to clean out all the old charcoal that sat in it for a month in the rain.

The thing still works. I even used wood fires in it and smoke a week's worth of food at once. This kettle grill just holds up. Some ware along the line I warped the little ash catching pan.

Seems to me that Webber is going to starve if the keep making lifetime products.

    • Great grill!

      By A2C1Z2CRIQ6WX6 on 2000-03-29
I have owned the same Weber 21" grill for 12 years now and I love it as much now as the first day. I cook on it year'round. My family doesn't think it's Thanksgiving with out me smoking a large turkey on my Weber grill. We do all sorts of foods on it including lots of veggies, Texas style brisket and Memphis style BBQ pork shoulder

    • Weber, The Only One!
      By A2WSQ7DRJN45RF on 2003-04-11
I bought my first 221/2" Charcoal Weber Grill in 1975 and was given my third weber last Father's Day. My original weber, 28 years old, is still being used at my river cottage and my second weber is my overflow and backup grill at my home. Weber grills are the most durable outdoor product I have ever owned. I am not a very maintenance minded person, to say the least, and I have always kept my grills uncovered and outdoors. My webers have survived in spite of my neglect and the climate of the Lower Chesapeake Bay.
Weber's longlife is only overshadowed by its ability to cook. When it comes to cooking nothing can match the results produced by a weber, from a whole turkey to a pound t-bone, its all excellent. When you buy a weber you should also consider these accessories: 1. Charcoal side racks, used for indirect cooking; 2. Weber Cook Book, great recipes and if you do what it says, the results are outstanding; 3. Weber's Chimney style charcoal starter, one sheet of newspaper and in ten to twenty minutes you have white hot coals without using that dangerous and smelly charcoal lighter fluid. So remember charcoal is for real men and gas is for sissys and ain't nothing going to bet a WEBER.

    • An honest review (UPDATE)
      By A3C2A3D2KG1F1A on 2005-04-12
      Alright,

I am one that loves to grill, but doesn't know anything about grills themselves, really. Due to monetary situations I had to grill on the cheapest possible grill... The green Sunbeam camper grill. I'm sure you know what grill I'm talkin' about. For over 6 years it has been my grill of choice (hey it was only $10!) and has treated me well. Over these years I always dreamed about owning a "real" charcoal grill. I wanted the American icon, I wanted the Weber One-Touch. I heard all about how durable and well built it was, how it will last for 10 years+ and how it's just a step above the rest. After actually purchasing this grill I have a bit of buyers remorse. You see, before actually buying this I was looking at a grill from Char-Broil. It had the ash catching pan like the One-Touch gold, it had space to put plates and such (sorta like the One-Touch Platinum) and it had grates with adjustable height, not to mention all of this came at a price just $5 higher then the One-Touch Silver! Anyways, for the last 2 years I wanted nothing more then the Weber so I got it. Once I started puting it together I realized that this grill just doesn't seem to have $80 worth of craftsmanship. The legs are super-flimsy hollow aluminum pipes, very cheap. The itsy bitsy tabs that hold the bottom grate are slightly uneven so my bottom grate is a bit wobbly (also it's possible for the bottom grate to fall because the tabs are pretty small). A wobbly bottom grate probably doesn't make a lick of difference when it comes to grilling, it's just that it wasn't right, it's just one of those little annoying quirks. I guess I expected everything to be heavy duty. I expected solid metal legs and such. You can find an identical grill from Char-Broil for less then half the cost! I hear that Weber is a step above because they are built to last... well my cheap $10 Sunbeam is 6+ years old and I've never had any problems with it, it's all about how you take care of it. Personally, I think for the $80 price tag of the One-Touch silver, you should at least get the hinged cooking grate, but you don't.

There are good things however. First, it's just nice to have the American icon. There is a certain feeling that comes with grillin' on the good ol' Weber kettle. There are a TON of accessories made for it and replacement parts are extremely easy to find. The one-touch system is pretty handy (although hardly one-touch).

Overall I am still happy with the purchase, I love looking at that grill. It's probably gonna grown on me more and more as years pass by. Based on price I decided to get the Silver version, but the Gold might be worth looking at. Afterall you get a much better ash-pan (I modified my silver to be just as good though... just a little creativity should do the trick) and you get the hinged grate with the gold (although you can just buy this grate for $15-$20 and stick it on your Silver if you wanna)

      Choose... but choose wisely.

      YEAR UPDATE
      -----------------------------------------------------
Okay, now it's been over a year since I posted my original review. This really is a great grill, I wish I could bump the stars up to 4, but I can't... Amazon wont let me. Some of the minor quams I said previously still apply, but this baby cooks a mean dish! I have abused mine for a year and it runs like brand new.

What really made me do this update was when I grilled on a buddy's kettle. It wasn't a weber kettle and it shows. After a year of using this I got to know this grill really well, I got used to such high quality materials. This grill really is above and beyond most other kettle style grills.

I do wish I would have purchased the gold though. The ash pan that comes with the silver is not much use if you're grilling in any sort of wind.

    • One Great Grill, one great price.
      By A1MAEVS6H8OD8B on 2000-05-24
I own the Weber One Touch Silver grill. It is the best I've ever owned. I have used several grills, but always wanted to try a Weber. I found the low price of the silver to be a good price for an introduction to the Weber line. I like the new plastic handles, and haven't had the problem with them heating-up. I saw another review where it was reported as a problem. My handles, even with a large fire at high temps, stay very cool to touch. This includes the handle on the side for rolling the grill. The only correction to the editor review I would make is the silver doesn't have an ash pan that you remove to dump the ashes. That is on the Weber Gold I think.

    • A Classic Grill

The Weber Charcoal grill is the one and only charcoal grill. Know matter what the food, this little grill will make it taste better than any oven. And its real inexpensive.

    • Best Charcoal Grill On the Market
      By A3TXUIZXSQAAJZ on 2003-07-05
If you're looking for grilling products, I highly recommend ANY Weber products. Weber cares about quality grilling.

This 22 1/2" is a classic. With each grill, Weber includes grilling instructions with recipes. READ these and try to learn from them. Understand how to use the indirect method of cooking in order to get tender results from large cuts of meat.

Since I am in an apartment now with a small patio, I only have room for so many grills. I kept my charcoal smoker and my Weber Genesis gas grill, because I am afraid of using the charcoal grill in this environment. However, if I owned my own home, I would DEFINITELY have this grill on my patio or deck.

In addition to this grill, as other reviewers have mentioned, if I were you I'd purchase a chimney starter. Chimney starters allow you to get your charcoal glowing hot without charcoal fluid. Coals started with charcoal fluid affect the taste of the meat negatively. Using a chimney starter will improve the quality of your meat immensely.

Another point regarding grilling is to learn how to use the air vents on your grill in order to get the right air flow. Bad air flow will mess up the quality of your meat as well. In general you should open the vents on the top all the way, and the vents on the bottom should be regulated to get the temperature you need. I can't tell you exactly how to use your air flow as that depends on how windy the day is, and other considerations..but you obviously want nice glowing coals that don't generate more heat than you need for the task.

Have fun with your grilling experiences!

    • The Silver model is very messy...Go for the Gold!
      By A1A7VP4BTZX7EP on 2004-09-20
With all the previous positive reviews, I decided to give this charcoal grill (my first one) a try. We have a gas Weber Genesis Silver B, so we really like the Weber brand. We figured we couldn't go wrong. Oh boy was I mistaken!

Anyway, the Weber One-Touch Silver model is overpriced and not worth anywhere close to $80. You have to figure that most kettle grills work about the same...the only difference is the quality of construction and durability. Obviously, Webers will outlast all of the cheaper brands, and that's one of the major reasons we chose this grill. However, this particlar model (22 1/2" Silver) has a major flaw. The major complaint here is that the "ash-catcher" doesn't catch anything because ash doesn't fall straight down into the catcher...especially if there is even a tiny bit of wind blowing. We had ash flying everywhere! My patio, screen, clothes, guests, etc were all covered in ash!!! It was a big mess! THey might as well not even have the catcher there because it doesn't do anything. Unless you like cleaning or have a gigantic yard, stay away from the Silver model of the kettle grill.

We have since returned the Silver model and purchased the Gold model. We had to pay an extra $50 for the Gold model with an ash-catcher that actually catches the ash. But at least my patio and my guests aren't covered in ash anymore! Sigh!

    • authentic charcoal barbequing in no time (okay 30 minutes)
      By on 2000-07-06
After years of gas grilling I decided I just had to try charcoal grilling for the experience and taste of it. I assembled the unit in 15 minutes (whereas it usually takes me hours to put things together). I made the best hamburgers I've ever made the first day and a fabulous mesquite smoked chicken the second day. If you're new to charcoal barbequing my words of advice are to buy lighter fluid and to be patient, the coals take at least a half hour to get going.

    • They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To
      By AJVW3K02VYVYB on 2003-05-22
Recently purchased this grill. With the exception of the grate that holds the charcoal, the thickness of the metal of the grill and the grate that holds the food was much thinner than that of my older grill of the same model/type. The plastic handle on the lid, as another reviewer noticed, definitely gets hot to the touch, unlike the wooden handle on the older version. The food grate has large openings on the sides near its handles which allow for food to fall into the charcoal if one is not careful. It is possible that this grill will last a long time like my older model did, even with the thinner metal (time will tell), but I was somewhat dissappointed with the quality and slight design changes.

    • "BEST Characoal Grill" doesn't do it justice
      By on 2003-08-05
There can be plenty of knock-offs year after year; but when it comes to king of Characoal grill; this is the one. Valued at a modest [price] for the Silver 22.5" series; its the best bang for the bucks. (The next step up is the Gold model which costs nearly twice as much). This grill is perfect for open patios where the wind becomes your friend and emptys out the ash tray. Its rounded doom design keeps the right temperature with additional temp control vent built on top and bottom of the grill. The grill feels solid and there are some really cool peripherals that goes with this grill. The design of Weber is pure science, characoal burns effortlessly and the distance between the food and the charcoal is perfect for all food groups.

Buy one and you'll be addicted to outdoor grilling!

    • Weber quailty has plummeted.
      By AYF78YDICTI3E on 2003-12-13
I used to swear by the Weber as the best quality charcoal grill available. Sadly, this is no longer the case. I purchased a new 22" Weber last spring and it was genuine junk. After a few months the interior cover paint began to peel badly and a month or so later two of the three grill supports began to pull away from the side of the kettle. By fall it was unusable. I'd stay away until quality returns. They got 1 star from me only because zero is not an option.

    • A good grill, but...
      By on 2004-06-09
completely overated in my opinion. I have many kettle style grills and this one cooks good, but not any better than a Sunbeam. Actually, the Sunbeam and most others that cost much less clean out easier than this one does. The strong point on any Weber is they are built well. I own their Genesis gas grill and a couple of their Smokey Mountain smokers and they are built to last a very long time. I would say the main problem with the Weber Kettle for me is their handles are made out of plastic and they do get hot when trying to take off the kettle top. The others such as the Sunbeam are made of wood and remain cool to the touch. It's just all about how much money you want to spend. Webers are high, but they cook good. Cheaper kettle grills are less expensive and cook just as well. I cook out about 5 days a week, so I use them all, but I don't think I would buy another Weber Kettle. The sunbeam is easier to clean, cooks the same, and looks just as good.

    • Best grill going
      By AZ7IK1V693H0G on 2005-01-17
This is the best grill you can buy; easy to use, easy to clean and cooks with more charcoal flavor that any other charcoal grill I've used. I use mine for anything from French Toast, pizza, fruit, to turkey. And you can get smoke pellets and add a great smoke flavor too. Most versatile grill I ever owned.

    • Worth three times the price!
      By A3T1LD0C65QCWK on 2005-07-31
I wish I'd bought one of these the day I first moved out on my own! For years I got by with a ridiculously tiny hibachi -- one day I found myself living in the suburbs and somehow rationalized BUYING A REAL BARBECUE! Due to my dyed-in-the-wool cheapness and extensive researching before buying, it was inevitable that I'd end up with a Weber 22.5" Silver Kettle Grill!

YES the little tray on the bottom end is a pain in the neck. But I can't say it's really ever bothered me ALL that much! You'll want to use a charcoal chimney to light your coals -- I used to build a little fire with newspaper and sticks but the charcoal chimney is the way to go, and one chimney will nicely fill the coal area on the Silver Kettle Grill. Do not ever use lighter fluid or fuel-soaked coals. But you already know that.

While you'll get the hang of burgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken and bratwurst right away, make sure to investigate "indirect grilling" where you pile your coals on one side or the other (or both) and put an aluminum tray under whatever you're grilling. Like a pork roast or a whole chicken. The 22.5" Silver Kettle Grill has AMPLE room for everything you'd like to do. Including grilling a turkey! Easy to do plus incredible flavor!

I recently acquired a "slide-aside" cradle for the lid which I like a lot, and a clip-on tool holder, which is really handy. We use the grill several times a week. I've never found it lacking. There are a few techniques you'll pick up to turn out just what you like, such as brining chicken or pork prior to cooking. You really do not have to spend more than this to get an excellent tool which you'll use for years and years to come. Get this larger size, but don't spend more on non-essentials. It's a zen thing. In place of a statue of Buddha, we suburbanites have Weber Kettle Grills in our backyard. Grilling harkens back to caveman days, satisfying something very deep in every red-blooded American -- meat good. fire good. Weber good.

Order the hinged lid grate for this size grill -- it's a neat thing to have when you need it. And make sure to try grilled pizza dough -- it doesn't ooze through the grate like you'd think it would and the flavor is incredible.

The perfect shape of the Weber Kettle Grill makes operation just about foolproof. Improvise an improved ash catcher underneath (like a big metal bucket!) and you're in business. GREAT product! This is not a frivolous purchase, you NEED one of these!

    • Weber Silver 22 1/2" Grill
      By AAG9D3ON3JFKC on 2001-06-12
We had heard this was the best grill on the market. We have a tiny terrace in a New York City apartment but love to barbecue so went for this which is really to large for the terrace but not for us, friends & family. It cooks great and we just tried the "indirect" cooking method. It looked like a pain to do it but turned out to be as simple as direct grilling, no fat dripping on the coals and with the Weber charcoal starter, easier than I've ever experienced. Altogether an A+++ experience.

    • Don't buy anything else other than Weber
      By A3MV85FJANE8I3 on 2003-05-24
As far back I can remember my family has always had a Weber Grill. The first Weber I remember from when I was a kid, didn't have the one touch system. It was given away when I was 14, when my dad bought a Weber One-touch as it was called then. That was over 15 years ago. When I joined the military and got married I bought a Weber for myself. It was also one without the one-touch. We used it all the time. Then in 1998 I bought my dad the Master Touch for Father's Day. I wasn't too happy with the change from cedar handles to plastic. After it was put together we cooked a great meal on it. My dad gave me the one touch he bought way back when since he didn't have the need it. It's still going strong today cooking good meals everytime and still has many years to go even though it's kept out in the english weather.

I have used other charcoal grills and gone to freinds and familes who used gas. The food defintly tastes different. I've got proof that they last too, sitting out side my patio door. I'm very happy with Weber's quality. If I decide it's time for a new Weber I would choose the Performer for the convinence. All the Grills that Weber makes are top quality and last. So buy a Weber and enjoy barbecueing like you never had before.

    • Best Grill Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started shoping for a Charcoal grill after clean my gas grill and finding that the burn has rust through again!!! So I bout the Weber 22 1/2 One Touch Silver, and now I'm put the gas grill in the trash....This grill is great....but watch your food when you first start using it, it cooks fast and on the tops of the food too, I almost bunt my hamburger the first time I used it. I just wish Amazon carried all the weber accessories for the One touch. But the one's they do carrie I will buy!

    • For REAL charcoal cooking (not storebought)
      By A3PNOMT17K97G6 on 2004-07-05
Why buy anything else? Well, as one reviewer pointed out, the Sunbeam is cheaper and cleans out more easily--but who cares? It's not as well built and thus will not last nearly as long. A key feature that many Americans (unlike hardwood burning southerners and grapevine burning mediterranean folks) realize is that one can actually cook food over coals obtained from burning real wood (yet we, continually hoodwinked marketing victims, spend billions on bags of charcoal a year). Such common sense purists in the know view charcoal as rediculously as charcoal enthusiasts view gas grills. With a heavy duty, basic-design Weber a nice pre-party hardwood fire can crackle away until beautiful and far more flavorful and longer lasting coals are obtained. Remember those 12 acres of kindling lying on the ground behind your house or along the road where you walk your dog? All for free--and didn't it need to be burned anyway? On most other grills, such roaring fires wood detroy the enamel, melting an entire cooking unit down to a point where an 8 by 6 foot black hole could be left in one's smoldering deck. No fears from the big weber--just keep the kids back as well as heavy alcohol consumption down until cooking is well under control. Don't be throwing in those toxic pressure-treated off-cuts to celebrate your new deck either. Also, to keep the fire rolling without stoking up more flames, one can add storebought charcoal if necessary, which is a small concession to keeping the party rolling.

I asked my wife, the other day, how long we'd had our grill and she reminded me that we bought it with a gift certificate from our wedding. 20 years ago!

I have replaced the grilling surface - got the one that opens on the ends to add more charcoal and that's it. I've added accessories but have left mine out in the elements - matter of fact my daughter was laughing the other day when we had a terrible rain storm and she commented that it was the perfect kind of rain to clean our grill!

I want to get a new one, but like a parrot, it might outlast ME!

    • Best charcoal grill on the market

My wife and I received a Weber Silver One-Touch grill for a wedding present 20 years ago, and we just replaced it with a new One-Touch Silver grill. I found that it has plastic handles instead of wood, which has its advantages and disadvantages. It doesn't look as nice as the wood, but the old wood handles rotted away a few years ago and I had to fabricate new ones, which won't happen with the plastic ones. The new grill surface uses thinner steel rods, and they are spaced farther apart than the old ones. Since I still have the old one, I just put the old grill surface in my new Weber, and since it has no rust on it (protected by many years' accumulation of grease) it worked out just fine. The new ash tray is much easier to get in and out than the old one, which I am pleased about. It was always a big pain to get the ash tray out without spilling half the ashes on the patio. I really like having a new "one-touch" cleaning system. The old one had rusted out, necessitating a lot of work to clean it out, and adjusting the vent. The "one-touch" system of venting is the only one on the market like it, and is the real key to great, tender, well-cooked barbeque, not black, half-burned coals instead of food. This is especially true for cooking pork, chicken or other poultry, which has to be cooked all the way through. Well worth the price!

Whenever I'm done cooking I close both air vents. This keeps the coals from burning to ash. I save these coals in coffee cans. These come in handy when using the indirect cooking method with the grates to keep the fires going. Beans, Brisket and Ribs can take hours to cook properly.

There's something magic about this grill. I've had them all and none compare. I pity those that cook a good steak on a gas grill.

BTW Look for Home Depot circular on memorial day or July 4th. Every year they sell two large bags of Kingsford for $8. I buy 10 bags and that's good for a year

I guess I've always wanted a Weber Kettle grill. They started the grilling revolution, right? I have used it several times and have cooked a variety of items; New York strips, Filets, grilled vegetables, beer-can chicken, salmon steaks.
I love my Weber Kettle grill. Although I've grilled for years, I read the grilling suggestions provided with the grill. I learned a few new tips and EVERYTHING I've grilled has turned out fantastic. I'm using Kingsford Charcoal (regular and mesquite).
If you want to get back to grilling basics, this is THE grill to have. I highly recommend it.

for me, this grill is the sweet spot. charcoal taste, quality construction, ease of use, well-deserved weber reputation, and reasonable price.

i love my weber, and use it much more than other grills i've had. works like a champ.

weber support was flawless when i needed them.

one nit : the ash pan is a nice feature, but attachment is a bit awkward, like it was an afterthought. no big deal though.

btw, be sure to get a chimney starter--makes charcoal grilling SO much easier. i'd have bought the weber one if it hadn't been sold out where i got my grill.

    • A Legendary Grill!
      By on 2004-05-01
This is where it all started. The classic design, superb quality and super ease of use. I've been grilling for a long time now. I have gone thru many low end grills in the beginning.

I find all low end grills: rusty, tiny, and hard to work with.

Thats when I turned to Weber's classic kettle design; and I have been happy since.

      Features:
at 22.5" surface diameter, there is plenty of room for your steaks, chicken, chops, ribs. The distance between the grill and charcoal is perfect, the bowl design offers superior heat control. The entire thing is build from high grade steel enameled in procelin which makes it look classy and protects the unit quite well. The crack-resisting wheels and space-aged handle material proves to be durable.

I have not seen a grill shown up in more commercials, movies, cartoons and references. This is a legendary American cultural icon. The kettle is symbolic for hardcore BBQers. And I am proud to own one and receive compliements of my BBQ events time after time.

I recommend buying genuine Weber accessories (gloves, hinged grate, tool sets, beer chicken rack, rib racks, tool holder/hooks). You will not regret it!

    • WOW! What a grill
      By A6B8E7LWLIBMP on 2004-06-14
I got tired of the gas grill with little smokey flavor, so I went back to charcoal and you just cannot beat the flavor of a smokey charcoal grill. I did some research on the web and narrowed it down to this grill for price and name quality, and I am 110% satisfied!

I was surprised that it really takes less then 30 minutes to assemble by anyone. The only tool needed is a hammer for about 30 seconds to tap in the lock nuts on the 2 wheels and thats it.

I would highly recommend this grill or any other Weber grill(built in the good ol' USA)

The only thing that I will buy for this grill is that lid holder which is less then 20 dollars so that the lid can be lifted and kept on the grill, I think that will be easier then taking the lid off and try to lay in on the ground somewhere.

    • Grilling Makes me happy

I love this grill, my wife and I have now enjoyed many meals made in our backyard. If you buy this grill you are making a wonderful investment.
For starters it works perfectly. My grilled food is cooked to perfection, not burned, not ruined. Also, when I am done grilling there is no real clean up. Grab your food and go, the next day or next time you grill you can rinse this baby out knock off any thing on the grill itself and you are rolling.
