  • Works perfectly with slight modification

    By A30SAVOSM4ZM6L on 2004-05-06
The tool holder works perfect on my grill. I saw a lot of reviews complaining about how the thing will fall off or it will prevent the lid from sealing. I see how this can be true, however if you can spare about 3 minutes and have ordinary pliers ready that can be solved.

I put the holder on the grill, bent the prongs around the lip of it and have had no problems since. It doesn't move, slide, or fall off and the bent prongs allow the top to close with ease. I don't even have a weber grill, I own a char-broil. If you seriously don't have the capacity to bend a little bit of metal then don't buy it. For the rest of you spened the 4 dollars.

  • Does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Now that I finally bought my new Weber grill (One-Touch Silver) and some new Weber tools, I needed something to hold them. I didn't want to hang them on one of my other crappy grills, so I went ahead and bought this handy tool holder.

Now, I have read previous reviews on this and people have said that they couldn't get their lid to close, or that the tool holder would fall off. Well, it doesn't take much creativity to realize that you can pinch the tool holder onto your grill with a simple set of pliers. This will take care of both problems.

I highly recommend this simple-yet-handy gadget to anyone with a Weber One-Touch grill (except for maybe the One-Touch Platinum, since it has everything you need). It is very easy to use, your lid will still close and you grill-cover will still fit =)

  • excellent equipment

I had no problem with this tool holder. I put it on once and it's still hangin' in there. It makes it very convienient to reach for what you need while grillin'. However, if you do find that it comes off when you take the top off, just pinch it tight with a pair of pliers! Happy grillin' people!!!

  • Handy with OK Quality

This is a handy gadget if you own a Kettle without a table. The clips are a little light and wimpy for my liking.

  • Can't go wrong for 4 bucks

Solid construction, can be installed and removed easily. If you have large tools you may find the hooks are close together and the tools may overlap. Also due to the proximity with the barbecue the tools can warm up as well. Although these are not really the fault of the holder just the setup of the barbecue itself.

  • Fits Char-Broil Patio Caddie grills great!
    By AZMZPO65KWV75 on 2007-06-11
I took a chance and ordered this. And it fits my Char-Broil Patio Caddie grill wonderfully!

Would likely fit any round 18-22" grill. Just insert over edge of grill (I clamped it down a bit with pliers for tighter fit), and grill lid still fits over it nicely.

Now, I might buy another one. If you need more than 4 hooks, use two. One on left side and one on right.

  • Not a great design
    By A3JI35KEQV9QLQ on 2007-01-12
The holder gets in the way of the lid's lip when you try to put the lid back on - as a result the lid no longer slips into place with this holder attached. Also, the holder doesn't clip onto the kettle's edge too snugly (when you do finally get the lid pushed into place) so the holder can easily become dislodged by picking up the lid. Otherwise, it does what it's supposed to do.

(It's obvious the original engineers who created the grill didn't have this accessory in mind in the final design!)

  • Tool Holder Falling Off or Bending??? Try This!!!!
    By A3D0RU1URR2IOF on 2006-07-18
I purchased this item after reading the reviews that appear here. Several people mentioned that the tool holder would fall off if you removed the lid; another mentioned that heat from the grill had made the hooks bend out of shape. My solution was to purchase the Weber Condiment Holder and hang the tool holder on the outside of that rack. Problems solved!! My utensils are close at hand and there is no risk of getting burned by touching the outside of the grill.

  • Really a handy little gadget!
    By A3T1LD0C65QCWK on 2005-07-28
Clips right onto the rim of the lower kettle half, well-made, really handy, you NEED one of these! Possibly TWO of these!!!

  • Don't bother
    By A3NKW9CT96WS5X on 2005-09-08
The idea here is nice - a little rack to hang your tongs and stuff on. However, the execution is bad, and it's just as easy to put tongs and things on the ground near the smoker.

    Problems:

    1. It's very hard to make the lid sit tightly with this in place. That results in loss of smoke and heat.

    2. The rack doesn't stay on well. So when I pulled my tongs off, the whole rack came with them.

    3. Storing tools that close to a hot surface is prone to singed fingers.

I plan on getting a little table to keep near my smoker, to hold tools, spare wood chips, thermometers, etc. That'll be more useful than this holder.

  • Fits Perfectly!
    By A2H17AE2WSDQPN on 2007-09-04
This tool holder fit perfectly on my grill. Now I have a place to hang my BBQ tools. Good addition, gives a new feel to my old grill.

  • Very Convenient
    By A1Z4GKWRHEWWDW on 2007-06-20
Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it doesn't fit perfectly. I also recommend the lid holder.

  • It Holds Tools
    By A2Y4P4IV2B0D6O on 2007-04-26
What more might one need to know?

Eh -- Here's the thing. It's only useful if you've also got the typical BBQ tools that have a loop on the handle. Their all kind of bunched together. Still, it works, and I guess I like it, but it's not as handy as a whole new table on the side. (Not that I have the room for that table, which is why I have a little thing with 4 hooks instead.)

If you are a good griller and put the cover on religiously, you'll probably need to remove the holder (lest it get in your way while trying to maneuver the canvas cover down). No biggie -- Just slip it inside onto the grill grate.

Note also that really long tools on a smaller Weber kettle (the 18 1/2 incher for example) might be dragging on the deck below. (And, don't bother with your Smokey Joe!)

  • It works, with a little bending
    By A3KOAIRG0CC0NR on 2007-03-05
If you bend the clips on this rack, it fits on the grill very well. The lid of the grill will close, but it doesn't close as well as before. When you close the lid, you will see smoke leaking out of the side of the grill. I didn't notice any problems with utensils heating up. It's a cheap little utensil rack that can be useful.

  • How could you go wrong for FOUR bucks?
    By AWQNKUDLIQXN4 on 2006-05-13
For 4 bucks, this product is great. It is easy to install and holds my tools. Be warned that the tools may get a little hotter than you expect, but once the BBQ cools off from its initial super hot phase (the first 15 minutes) it works very well. I find that it works better with tools that have the little leather rope to hang them by. This tool is a must when I am grilling in a public area and don't really have a good place to put my tongs or spatula.

Again, for 4 bucks, you can't go wrong.

Also, it does NOT stop my lid from sealing (18 1/2 Gold).

  • Tools you can use
    By A3QBAWPHLC14UM on 2005-07-23
A simple idea of looking for your grilling utensils right where you can reach them, why they don't make this a standard feature I'll never understand. If you don't have a readily accessible space to place your utnsils, this very handy and cheap device is a wonder.

  • Finally...
    By A3BE1F8AF70WNF on 2001-03-17
I hated having to prop my tools up on the patio table (and getting grease everywhere) when grilling, but now I can just hang them from the kettle the way I've been used to with gas grills. I just wish it matched the grill a bit better.

  • Nice Idea
    By A2806I45H42REF on 2005-09-17
This was a nice idea, but it doesn't work to well if you have the lid holder. Whenever I take the lid out of the holder, the tool holder falls off. I don't really need it, because I have the perfomer which has a built in tool holder on the table, which I forgot about when I ordered this. The tool holder should have some kind of locking clamps on it so they will stay in place. I can see how they would interfere with the lid closing all the way if they are hung off the grill itself and imagine that they don't stay in place when the lid is taken off. I like having the extra set of tool holders so I think I am going to trying clamping them down on the lid holder with pliers.

  • It holds up well!
    By A1X7EI34GZ3IMO on 2010-07-15
As long as you remember to squeeze the holder into place with some pliers, they stay put on the grill and work wonderfully ... Obviously.
It holds the perfect number of tools I need for my grill! Aesthetically pleasing, and very functional: Perfect.

  • Bad Design
    By A1I1RIZW4MX7XB on 2009-06-17
The kid that designed this may have an Engineering degree but he obviously has never come within 2 feet of a Charcoal Grill. This rack sets all of your tools about 3 inches from the blazing hot coals that are cooking your food making your tools entirely to hot to handle. It also is gravity connected to your grill so it easily comes off when being moved and also gets in the way of the cover.

    Save your Money.

  • Keep Your Cooking Utensils At Hand
    By A3C4B7IHQ16IIH on 2008-08-01
Is not a bad option for you Webber. At least you know where a your cooking utensils are at all times. I was a good addition to my Webber grill.

  • Really handy for me.
    By A30VKXCI0RCOOV on 2008-04-22
Works well. I do occaisionally knock it off the grill,
    but overall I'm very pleased.

  • handy
    By A224QI0DSY1IB on 2007-11-06
I got it so that I could add 5 cents + to my order to get free shipping. I found out that it is actually quite handy to have next to the grill and I really use it. And it's cheap!

  • Nice to place tools close to grill
    By ATOPBGY0GNZDW on 2007-07-25
This is a pretty nice tool holder. However, it does cause the top to fit a little less airtight than without. Overall it is probably one of the better add ons for weber grills Weber 1201 Tool Holder

  • Great way to hold tools on the Patio Caddie
    By A19C9XSBTB5ALG on 2007-06-03
As a townhouse owner, I purchased a CharBroil Patio Caddie to get the benefit of a gas grill with a small footprint. Had my Patio Caddie for three years before it died, but the the Weber tool holder still looks and works great. This easily fits the Patio Caddie with some slight bending and stays on even when you pull the lid off. A great item, but like others have said......your tools get VERY hot.

  • Weber 1201 Tool Holder
    By A1TEZMWDQCL627 on 2007-05-31
This holder fits the 22 1/2" Weber grill very well, and offers a convenient place to hang tools while grilling! The price was certainly reasonable too!

  • Shipping shock
    By A2WW6PUV8U6TI5 on 2007-05-07
The tool holder works well. There is a little leakage of smoke, but I don't think this reduces the quality of food preparation or changes the temperature of the grill. The tool holder ships from a company other than Amazon, and the shipping/handling costs are more than the holder.

  • Strong and adaptable!
    By A348EXZD05GVXQ on 2006-08-17
Quality material, and well finished. It adapted easily to my drum style smoker, and will hold just about anything I choose to hang on it, shy of my truck.

  • Weber product can't take the heat
    By A1NF45GED5GQAI on 2006-03-27
Nice, neat place to hang my tools while cooking in my Weber kettle, but after about 6 months, the hooks holding the tools had bent down from the hook shape to an L shape from the heat. Weber, you should use more heat resistant metal for a piece of equipment meant to hang on the side of a grill.

  • A perfect tool holder for Weber Kettle
    By A2PK97CT8G3L2T on 2005-08-31
My husband has found this holder very useful to keep his bar-b-que tools with his kettle.
