Remember the Titans: An Original Walt Disney Motion Picture Soundtrack (2000 Film)x$9.99
    (53 reviews)
Best Price: $9.99
Denzel Washington stars as a black football coach hired over a white coach at a recently racially integrated Virginia high school in the early 1970s. Director Boaz Yakin (A Price Above Rubies, Fresh) has a baby boomer's heart in mind with a stylistic array of early 1970s sounds supported by Trevor Rabin's orchestral score (one seven-minute excerpt, "Titans Spirit," finishes things off here). Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band's "Express Yourself" is, perhaps, the greatest surprise, while oddball favorites such as Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky," Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye," and Eric Burdon and War's "Spill the Wine" match up with country star Buck Owens's "Act Naturally." Covers include a fiery version of Sly Stone's "I Want to Take You Higher" and Leon Russell's laid-back barrelhouse-piano take on the doomsday anthem "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." Cat Stevens's "Peace Train" rolls into the station in its original version. Creedence Clearwater Revival (who appear with "Up Around the Bend") are outswamped by the Hollies' imitation of their sound with "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)." --Rob O'Connor

Remember the 70's? By A6225HHQKBE2M on 2000-10-22
"Remember the Titians" is a realistic feature that triggers a lot of emotions, and it demands a good soundtrack. But good doesn't even do justice to this; GREAT is more like it1 You'll almost forget you're listening to a movie soundtrack, more like a typical recollection of 70's hits. "Aint No Mountain High Enough" and "Na Na Na Na" steal the show; also noteable are "I Want to Take You Higher" and "Spirit in the Sky". On another note completly, this is one of Disney's best soundtracks for a live action feature EVER--keep it up, Disney! Usually, soundtracks for live-action movies just include instrullmental tracks, and don't appeal to many people as albums to purchase. But this one ROCKS DOWN THE HOUSE! I wish ALL of today's live action movies turned out such good music. Don't you agree?
An excellent soundtrack sure to please all By on 2001-07-28
"Remember the Titans" is a fantastic collection of popular songs from the late '60s and early '70s. There's not a single track on this CD that I skip ahead when it comes on. That says a lot, since we all skip through at least some of the songs on most CDs. Not this one, it's great. The first track "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" is easy to sing along with and is a great feel-good song. "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum is another instantly recognizable tune, and one that you'll turn the volume up for. Cat Stevens' "Peace Train" is much more folksy than "Spirit" but it too is a great song that is very catchy. The obligatory one-hit wonder Steam's "Kiss Him Goodbye" is another one that's good - but not to be over-listened to. The Hollies' "Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress" is an upbeat rock tune to tap your foot to. And well you can read the other tracks listed. What else is worth noting: Eric Burdon & War's classic "Spill the Wine" at Track 8 and the only original piece of the soundtrack, the nearly 7:00 selection from the Boaz Yazkin's original score. The only disappointment is that some very good songs used in the movie--most notably, "The Time Has Come Today" (The Chamber Brothers), "Fire & Rain" (James Taylor), and "Heard It Through the Grapevine" (Marvin Gaye)--are not included on the disc. So if you're looking to get these ones, be aware that they're not here. But everything that IS here is great. So definitely pick this one up anyway!
Titan By A21Q5E4VPMM2RB on 2000-09-26
This soundrack is wonderful and energizing. Remember the Titans is a wonderful mix of old songs. These are the songs you can't stop singing along and dancing too.
Exellent, but the movie was better By A152AETY9GLAH8 on 2000-10-11
Remember the Titans is the kind of movie that I will remember for years and years to come, it is the best movie out there right now, in my opinion. The soundtrack is excellent and includes many of my favorite songs from the movie although, some really good songs were left out, it still brings the mighty titans back home.
A fun soundtrack By A13TO1ZFAH9SVN on 2004-04-06
I picked up this soundtrack almost immediately after I saw this movie in theater. It's one of the best soundtracks I've ever purchased. This one has a lot of great oldies on it from a lot of big artists. You've got "Aint No Mountain High Enough" from Marvin Gaye which is a great song. There's "Up Around the Bend by CCR. You also have "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress by The Hollies. "Spirit of the Sky" is also here by Norman Greenbaum. To top it off you also have "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss him Goodbye" by Steam to top off all the hits. It's a hit powered soundtrack that can please a big age gap. I was a little disappointed with the Titans Score. I like the song in the movie but they didn't get right on the soundtrack. Thats the only knock I can put down on this soundtrack. Other than that it's perfect. I love this soundtrack. My parents love this one a lot. It's one of the better ones I own and if you loved the movie you have to pick this up.
- A Big Chill for the new millennium?
     By AFTQNEHB3TCAY on 2000-10-12
In the early 80's The Big Chill soundtrack took a number of twenty year old Motown hits, added a taste of white pop and produced a huge selling soundtrack."Titans" appears to try to copy that formula, albeit with somewhat less success. The probable reason for this is that so many of these songs have been released in other anthologies before, and there is little on the CD that a 70's pop fan won't already have several copies of. (Has any song ever appeared on as many compilations as Greenbaum's "Spirit In The Sky"?) The scattershot approach (Buck Owens and Tina Turner? ) does guarantee something for everyone, but not everything for anyone. Fortunately, I can recommend several other various artist albums to meet your desires. If you are into the pop sounds of Greenbaum, the Hollies or Steam, I recommend you check out any of the Rhino records series "Super Hits of the 70's". If Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner or Charles Wright are your thing, check the "Didn't It Blow Your Mind" series. Both series have several volumes that chronologically cover the 1970's, priced about $12 apiece, and you can pick and choose the ones you want. Also highly recommended, the AlmostFamous soundtrack. Not as 'pop'py as the Titans, but certainly as enjoyable.
- Have fun with your kids, see this movie!
     By on 2000-11-09
Your kids will love this flick and you, dear parent, will adore it. If you are a product of the early 70's, the situation will remind you of awful times past. It will also enforce the value and rewards of an open mind and a willingness to give others a chance. The music - magnificantly chosen from the long litany of 70's greats - just might inspire you to take to the aisle and dance your heart out. However, because you have taken your kids to the movies, you know you can't do this (besides they probably have a friend or two with them and you don't want to totally embarass your kid, not to mention yourself). You will undoubtedly make a mental note to put this CD on your Christmas list. And well you should. Your kids will enjoy this movie. There is action indeed (albeit football) and lots of funny situations. Additonally it will make for lots of dinner conversations and will probably change the way you and your kids watch a weekend football game. You ALL might just get up and dance when you play it at home - yahoooo! Enjoy and shake a leg!
- Remember the Titans Soundtrack has all the good oldies
     By on 2001-05-08
This is a great sing-along CD especially right after you've won some sort of game. Ain't No Mountain High Enough is an awesome song, but there are also other good hits such as Up Around the Bend by CCR and Na Na Na Na Kiss him Good-bye. This CD is a lot of fun and makes you remember some of the funnier scenes from the movie.
- Unbelieveable
     By on 2000-10-13
Remember The Titans is a wonder combination of many classical songs. They just keep bringing wonderful hits for you to dance to. Remember The Titans is a terrific, wonderful, and great soundtrack. The movie, is wonderful! I reccomend this soundtrack to anyone, any age, any where.
- Long Time Since I Have Bought a Soundtrack
     By A37F1G84K35FCZ on 2003-01-19
I very much enjoyed the film these songs were made a part of and greatly enhanced, and I did but the CD as it brings back great moments from the film. The other reason I bought it was the frequency with which some of these songs have become parts of films, and the number of times I have meant to get them on CD, "Remember The Titans", happily included many of them. The Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell song has been in two films I have seen in the last 3 months, and while the time span is longer, "Spirit In The Sky", by Norman Greenbaum is a song I recall from at least 3 films. The same may be said with different frequency for a variety of other songs on the disc, as all but one have been around for years/decades, with only the final song being specific to the film's theme. So if you enjoy these songs for what they offer on their own or for the memories they bring back from enjoyable films as well, you will be very happy with the many classic pieces of music this soundtrack puts on a single disk. There were one or two songs not included from the film, but I can offer no guess or reason why.
- Remembering When
     By A2XP2M2DQW4UUZ on 2003-09-28
I sat and looked at the movie again tonight after it sat in the cabinet for a long while. The movie and the soundtrack makes one think about the days gone by and how we (the people) got along. The film is history, the soundtrack takes you back to days gone by. This film is a good investment of music that will never grow old or die. It will live forever as part of history. Invest and enjoy. You'll be glad you did. It is a great mix of how soulful, hip-hop, classical, and rock can come together to make an exciting soundtrack that will go down in the history books.
- I love it!
     By A13POFJ199VETL on 2000-10-02
This soundtrack brings back memories from one of the best movies I have seen in along time. I was a teenager in the seventies and our music was the best. See the movie and buy the soundtrack, you'll love it, too.
- Disappointment
     By on 2001-03-01
I have to agree with the fan from australia, this cd should have been released with a sister original score. I had the same disappointment with Phenomenon. Trevor Rabin is such a wonderful composer and I would have jumped at the chance to hear his complete score. The one track is great, but not sufficient. I have refused to buy this cd for that reason. I would recommend that any other score fans stay clear if you feel as I do. Not to be too sarcastic, but other than that, the cd was great.
- By far the greatest soundtrack and movie ever.
     By A6SQ7V982JIPY on 2000-10-09
I would recomend this cd to anyone. It still brings tears to my eyes. Rember the titans was such a realistic movie about comming together and putting racial differences aside and beecoming friends and becoming "perfect" in every way as a team.
- I get chills!
     By A2RSY968JGGVEP on 2001-01-31
When I saw this movie, I laughed, I cried, and I cheered...and what helped to heighten these feel-good emotions was this music - it played such an important role in creating the wonderful mood in the movie that it deserves an oscar for "best supporting role". I can't listen to Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" without getting chills down my spine, just thinking about the awesome feeling I get when people come together in love and respect for one another. If that's not what music is about, I don't know what is.
- Could have been better
     By on 2001-02-20
Don't get me wrong. This is a fine soundtrack. But ANY 60s compilation CD would suffice. Given the rich orchestral themes which were played at length throughout the film it is a pitty that a film score wasn't released in addition to the soundtrack with the 60s songs (as was done for For the Love of the Game).
- Bringing it all back...
     By A22HULGVZUQQ8H on 2001-11-03
Wow. I grew up a little after this era in Northern California where racism wasn't an issue. This was a wonderful historically accurate movie with an amazing soundtrack! After watching the movie (which is also a 5) we ordered the soundtrack and now cannot help dancing and singing along with the great tunes selected for the CD. This is a collection that the whole family can enjoy and when you listen to it, you just feel good. "Peace Train" could not be more appropriate as well as "Spirit in the Sky". Very fun and upbeat CD. I bought one for my brother-in-law so he could sing along with "Act Naturally" at his birthday party. This is a must have for your collection.
- Only for the Trevor Rabin song.
     By on 2002-07-14
You can hear all of these songs when you turn on the Oldies station on the radio! Buy this for the score track-it is one of Trevor's best compositions, I am angry there is no score. Fortunatley for me, I was lucky enough to get my hands on an Academy Promo, so I can't complain. For those who aren't so lucky, this 7-minute masterpiece will have to do. Its beautiful, and sad and exciting all in one-what more could you ask for? Listen to the last song only people!! You won't regret it!! If you like Rabin's work, also check out American Outlaws, Deep Blue Sea, The 6th Day and Enemy of the State, a few of his best scores to date, not counting Remember the Titans.
- Excellent
     By A3T54BQJQPNM5I on 2000-10-08
This soundtrack brings the best part of Remember the Titans to life. The duirng the whole movie I was singing in a low pitch to all of the fimiliar songs I know. Though the soundtrack does not include every popular song used in the movie (i.g. James Taylor's passion-filled Fire and Rain), it has plenty of soul to accompany the well-thought out movie. Five stars and two large thumbs up to this soundtrack. Excellent choice.
- I'll wait
     By A1MIXULEDRNVBP on 2000-11-01
The movie was probably the best of the year. The music fit the film perfectly however I do not want a song compilation. Like "Armegeddon" and "For the Love of the Game", I will wait for the score to be released.
- Amazing!
     By on 2001-04-16
I saw the world premire of "Remember The Titans" at the Rose Bowl, and then saw it two more times in theaters, and loved every minuet of it. It was a wonderful movie, and the soundtrack is fabulous!
- In Celebration
     By A2MLLVU3ZAMHHV on 2001-04-17
A little bit of country, a little bit of soul, and great rock and roll. It's about time they came out with a movie with music from the early seventies--the pinnacle of rock and roll. I'll tell you what you ought to do--you ought to first buy this CD then get in your car . . . turn down the trebble and crank up the bass and push those speakers right to the edge of blowing. Then let it rip, first, with Spirit in the Sky, then Long Cool Woman--heck every song on the CD is great listening. Just make sure there's no cops around when you play it because it makes you feel wild. The early seventies were great, beacuse as the movie "Remember The Titans" exemplifies, the seventies mark a coming-out from prejudice, and bigotry. It's sad, however, what's happening in places across the US. Some cities, today, appear to have taken a "giant step" backwards to the undesirable times of the sixities. Perhaps they should show "Remember The Titans" at their movie theatres to help remind them of the awful struggle that caused too much death and sadness. At the very least, you can purchase this movie and CD to remind you of how ugly racism can be. Do it in celebration of the time when you realized you no longer had contempt or dislike for any color, race, or creed.
- Music Mismatch?
     By A3L387G22ZF5DM on 2004-11-07
I saw the movie today and I remembered one thing about high schoolers; if a song came out over two or three years earlier it was "old stuff" to us. "Ain't No Mountain" and "Act Naturally" likely would not have featured themselves in an early 70's (probably '71)high school. Granted the soundtrack captured the flavor of the times and was nice to listen to (even with the Buck Owens cut) but let's be more accurate. I think too many people too young to remember are working to compile these soundtracks and doing so in haste.
- One song missing....
     By A2L4WGOE657RQ5 on 2005-07-01
This is a great soundtrack. However, I must note that there is one song missing from this wonderful soundtrack and it is the only song which would have "made" this one for me. In the movie, as the team was practicing at camp, a song I can only recall as "Time" was being played. I have wracked my brain trying to find the song and I have only found it in the movie. Why was it the only song in the movie not included on this great album?
- The best song in the movie is missing from this soundtrack!
     By A1XF8M54R51L57 on 2006-04-21
Somebody from Florida asked about the missing song. It's "Them Changes" by Buddy Miles, one of the all-time great funk-rock artists of the 60's. He played with Hendrix, Pickett, Ruby and the Romantics, etc. "Them Changes" is the best song in the movie, and it's missing from this soundtrack! How could they exclude it?!!! Without "Them Changes," this soundtrack is a 2 (same tired old songs we've heard a 1000 times). With "Them Changes," this soundtrack would have been a 5. Here's my advice: forget this soundtrack and order the CD "Them Changes" by Buddy Miles.
- Left out good songs
     By A1PJAHQ6DBTHQ6 on 2000-10-07
I just got home from the movie and there were some songs I heard that I was really hoping would be on the soundtrack. But no. It was a great movie, and it IS a great soundtrack but it is such a let down when these movie people include songs in the movie but not the soundtrack. So 3 is my final choice.
- The Score
     By A1ARBXY0TBZT8N on 2001-01-10
This is a great cd. I am not a big fan of some of the stuff on here, but the Titans Score at the end of the cd is amazing. it is quite intense. the movie is phenominal, the best sports movie made, except for caddy shack. that movie is the best movie EVER made. but the soundtrack is great for ya, if you are into the type of stuff on here. i was disappointed that there wasnt more of the instrumental pieces included.
- Great Soundtrack
     By A1OL6P5Y0E3JXM on 2001-04-14
The Soundtrack to Remember The Titans was great! I loved all of the songs, and I love the movie. I recommend anyone who liked the movie to buy the soundtrack. I'm only 14 but I like all the songs, and I'm happy I bought it. So go out and get it!

Hi- my name is Lindsey.- I am reviewing Remember The Titans Soundtrck: I think the sountrack was EXCELLENT!!! It has oldies- just how I like!! It contains "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Spirit in The Sky"! I LOVE THOSE SONGS!! " Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough "- Hee Hee It's fun imitating that song! I also love the C.D. because it provides lots of fun. As i just had written, "it's FUN imitating the song. I am listening to that song all day long. I go on the trampoline and dance crazily arround.
