  • works fine... smells really bad

    By A1BAIYLYM6VHV1 on 2007-01-30
I just got this, and it is a fine pad. However, this thing smells like S***!! Its not a random smell it has got that industrial polyester smell, but it is really bad! It gives me a headache just being close. Rinsing it under the sink helps, but it still smells aweful and im going to try the washing machine.

Haha i swear to you im not making this up... i just got the belkin mousepad too...same stench!

maybe the other brands have this too, but just be warned.

  • Getting my Ergonomics on Keyboard Style

    By AHRBD6BHSXSKN on 2007-08-18
I ordered this product after experiencing wrist pain from using the computer at work. Being a geek, I am in front of the computer at home too and wanted something to prevent pain from occurring at home too. This is a great product that is very comfortable. It is very stable on the desktop (no sliding around) and has very soft and comfortable gel.

A few notes on things I noticed on previous reviews:

    - The wrist rest does have an odor to it right out of the box, but in my case I had to put my nose next to the wrist rest to smell it. Also, it has never made my wriste smell from using it.

    - The wrist rest is asymmetrical. This has never been a problem for me, and my wrists do not sit unevenly.

So, in a nutshell this product serves its function very well; I recommend it to all.

  • belkin wrist cushion is a hand-saver!

    By A1K57FX15M9OTD on 2007-01-04
i have CT and entrapped nerves in both elbows that affect the nerves in my hands, and without this piece of absolute genius, i couldn't be on the computer every day like i have to. there should be one of these attached to every keyboard - as a standard.

  • smelly at first...

    By A2HBJERPT3RHJE on 2006-11-05
very comfortable to use but exceedingly odiferous coming out of the plastic sleeve. better after exposed to the air for several days.

  • comfortable & help with wrist support

    By AK4HKI46S49NA on 2008-06-22
works well. user(s), however, should position their hands, chair height, lumbar support, take frequent breaks etc, for optimal ergonomics & minimizing repetitive injuries.

  • Good Wrist pad for the price
    By A2RMM84KOKVJA6 on 2007-03-25
Excellent wrist pad, it was worth it, it's exactly what I wanted nothing more nothing less. It is an attractive black for those in the office.

  • asymmetrical shape
    By A27D5TINXF2C94 on 2007-08-14
Make sure you pay attention to the fact that this is shaped asymmetrically. I have used it for over a week but cannot get comfortable because my wrists don't rest evenly, so I'm buying the straight 3M rest now.

  • Great
    By A38P216LNRCGL0 on 2007-08-24
I have the beginnings of carp atonal syndrome and typing was really starting to kill my wrist and hands and was starting to affect my working. I started using this gel pad and I no longer have any pain in my wrist or my hands.

  • Carpal Tunnel Goodbye
    By ABX7SEE84DMLU on 2007-02-28
This is the best wrist rest.

As wrist rests go, this wrist rest must exist as best.

It is billed as a "wave" wrist rest. As such, the reviewer must defer to the manufacturer's best judgment, because this wrist rest does list (in my case, it lists to the right). I do agree that the odor emitted by the new wrist rest is not te best, but you do get used to it.

Should a user get used to the wrist rest smell, though, the user used to the best wrist rest's existing smell is rewarded.

So, to sum up, here we have the best right-listing wrist rest that exists.

  • Two Wrists WAY Up!! :-)
    By A11MN43FYU3H04 on 2007-04-14
Wonderful for those who type and work with computers alot--soft and comfortable! I haven't had any problems with carpal tunnel since! It didn't have a nasty smell as other reviewers stated. A great buy; saves me a lot of pain!

  • Belking Wrist Pad
    By A10GD5EDXVREQD on 2007-08-24
Upon purchasing a new smoked glass desk, I wanted a wrist pad that would be comfortable and stylish. The satiny finish of this product is smooth to the touch and adds a little shimmer to my work space; as well, it is very comfortable.

  • I never even recieved it!
    By AX0S73OK2VQFK on 2007-09-17
I ordered this product and never recieved it. THEN, when I called to find out what happened I was given the runaround and I had to call at LEAST 15 time-no exaaggeration. Office Depot told me to call Amazon told me to call Ups told me to call Office Depot and so on.
I STILL never recieved my order and I at least got my money back after over a month of bull.

  • i love it
    By A2JKZNLTH63496 on 2007-01-03
i was having pain in my wrist from all the time I spend working on the computer. i bought one of these and the mouse wrist pad and i havent felt pain in my wrists since. i absolutely love them.

  • Fell apart after less than a year of use
    By A13NLH61XOYLQ6 on 2008-04-23
Update to below: Against my better judgment, I bought a second one of these, thinking that perhaps the first one had been defective. The new one didn't even last a month before it split open and spewed sticky gel gunk all over my keyboard and desk. I won't make the mistake of buying another one, they are poorly made.

    ------

Why can't somebody create a gel-filled wrist rest that holds up?

I bought the Belkin wrist rest pad to replace my previous one (3M) which had fallen apart. All I do is rest my wrists on it while typing. I don't squeeze it, touch it or abuse it in any other way. Yet in less than a year, the outer covering split open along one of the seams and the inner material started coming out. By the time I realized it, I had gummy gel bits all over the place, including inside my keyboard where they were making keys stick. It took me a couple of hours of unpleasant effort to "ungunk" my keyboard.

    Not recommended.

  • smells horrible
    By AX84CFA4CP59E on 2008-08-06
the gel pad works great, and i am very pleased with the comfort it gives.

However, the thing smells REALLY bad. its like a burnt rubber and paint combo. I cracked it open and used it for about half an hour and started feeling really sick and got a headache. I highly recommend airing this thing out for a few days or something before you use it. This has to be against some sort of safety or hazardous inspections. this is not your ordinary smell.

  • Very restful keyboard pad - don't buy the mousepad though
    By AJB8QKUUAZVB on 2007-11-08
I absolutely love the keyboard pad. In fact I liked it so much I went and ordered the mousepad from Belkin - BAD idea. Mousepad is so high it hurts wrist even more. The keyboard pad is excellent though.

  • functional
    By AXESSCA73TYAD on 2007-11-24
This item does what it's supposed to. It would be better if it had a little more cushion in it because it is a low.

  • It works
    By AULIPCOQZ66WH on 2007-12-28
It does what its supposed to do and it definitely serves its purpose to support your wrist. The firmness for me is just right, unlike others in the market (I have another one at work to compare it with)which are too soft.

  • Good Product
    By A1SX55GI0E194K on 2008-03-12
I spend stretchs of 12-15 hours sitting at the pc, and my wrists are frequently tired as a result. This wrist pad does the job quite well. Its a smooth, non-abrasive material and has a streamlined modern look. My only complaint, and its a very mild complaint, is if you pick it up and flex it back and forth even just a bit..by accident or otherwise, you may eventually develop small air bubbles which interrupt its smooth look but don't impact the functionality whatsoever. It might seem a bit pricy but your wrists will thank you.

  • Great Pad
    By A19PIYCI8DAYHC on 2008-05-11
I bought this pad for my home keyboard and liked it so much I bought another for my one at work. It is comfortable and the right height for both keyboards, which happen to be two different Microsoft products. I think anyone with a curved keyboard would be happy with it.

  • Helps wrists. It's well worth it.
    By A398KZM9I2J0BT on 2008-05-25
I bought this because my wrists hurt after being so long on the computer. It helped a lot. Didn't fix everything, but it is worth it. It looks and feels nice too. I would recommend it.

  • Quality wrist pad for the price
    By A3D5WW5K3C3LOD on 2008-07-16
Works great, and it doesnt miraculously loose cohesion with use.

My last wrist pad had disintegration issues so I am very happy with this one.

  • bad shape
    By A13PXRXE3ZO0K7 on 2008-08-06
Why is it shaped so there is little or no support for the right wrist? I would recommend getting something else. This support is just not useful - apparently the person who designed this must type with one hand. If it was not such a hassle to return the item to Amazon I would.

  • I like it! Needs a bit of work, but I like it.
    By A1L49XOZLGDDX6 on 2008-08-08
I have a Microsoft keyboard with the "wave" design. This wrist rest pad didn't work well with it in the normal position because of the straight edge on that side so I turned it around so the wave on the wrist rest pad was the mirror image of the wave of the keyboard. That worked alright but worked even better when I took a utility knife and cut away the excess fabric on the wave side so there would be a more snug fit between the keyboard and wrist pad. The excess fabric wasn't missed at all and didn't harm the wrist pad, it just had the company's advertising printed on it.

So, this product gets an extra star from me for the flexibility it has to work with both a straight-edged keyboard and a wave-shaped keyboard.

As for the job it does in providing comfort, it stands out there too. Very comfortable, the right amount of support and height and a comfortable padding that molds to your wrists. It has a rubber backing like the sole of your favorite pair of sneakers and a good, heavy weight to it so it doesn't easily slide around or fall off the keyboard tray while in use.

My only complaint with it is the extremely strong chemical smell it has. If you've experienced the smell of those memory foam mattresses or pillows, this has a similarly strong chemical smell. I've had the wrist rest pad for 3 weeks now and it still has a strong smell that you are very aware of while sitting at the computer. It is slowly dissapating, but right now, it still has a stank. If you can endure the stank, you'll like the comfort this product gives.

  • The reason I don't have carpel tunnel syndrome...
    By A1EAWFSP2OSA0L on 2008-08-12
    Gel-filled wrist rests are awesome!

I use my PC for about 2-4 hours per day - over the past 15 or so years. I never have any problem with wrist fatigue or pain!

Couple this with a gel-filled mouse pad, and you're good to go!
