The design of the 3M Wrist Rest was derived from medical technology: the gel from pressure relief cushions for wheelchairs and hospital beds and the fabric from medical tapes and bandages. Each material brings unique qualities to the finished product. The firm gel conforms but then quickly returns to its original shape, while the non-woven fabric is low friction, gentle to skin, highly conformable and reduces heat and moisture build-up.This non-adjustable gel pad encourages neutral wrist position. Exclusive gel filling and non-woven fabric provides soothing, comfortable support. Baseplate keeps wrist rest securely in place on desktops or adjustable keyboard trays.

A comfortable, sturdy rest... By A387IV0AHG1R81 on 2003-10-24
The 3M Gel Wrist Rest for keyboards is about 19 inches long, 3 wide, and 1 high. Even though I'm not putting much pressure on it, the product does conform to my wrist- without letting it sink in the gel. It's definitely supportive. I use an ergonomic keyboard, which has a curve built into the board where its own plastic wrist rest attaches. But I removed the plastic wrist rest, set the gel wrest as close up against the keyboard as possible, and I like it this way. My fingers hit the keys in the same way, but my wrists are straighter and on a soft surface. Someone who has a regular keyboard would be able to push the rest up closer if they want, and the support would be focused closer to the palms.(Not everyone would be able to do this, but if you use a certain kind of mouse): Since my hands do most of the moving rather than my wrists, I'm actually able to move the rest over so there's enough room for me to use it as a mouse wrist rest for my trackball mouse as well. This way, the space between my thumb and wrist is propped up and doesn't press against the bottom of the mouse and cause swelling. I find it comfortable, and it's well-made with a soft material and sturdy bottom.
Very poorly made By A3HVBWQWVSJS1I on 2007-07-04
I put in a lot of hours in front of my keyboard and a wrist rest is an absolute necessity.
This is one of the worst wrist rests I've ever used. It only lasted 3 months before I had to buy a replacement.
Almost immediately, the wrist rest deformed in the area where I regularly put my wrists, making the rest rather uncomfortable.
After just a couple of months, the wrist rest's seams came open and the gel goo started coming out.
Comfort for the keyboard By A12MCYBORTP9M0 on 2006-02-28
I type medical reports for a living, up to 10 hours a day and 7 days a week. Without the wrist rest, my wrists would not be able to hold up. The wrist rest is the perfect size. It stays in place on the desk. The gel continues to be supportive, even after a year of working on it. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the back of the wrist rest that lays on the desk has a horrible smell. I can't smell it while typing, only when I pick it up for cleaning. I wish there was the option for half stars - I'd give this 4-1/2 stars.
Does the job By A210LSJ3DV6RGN on 2006-11-09
This is very comfortable and works very well. It's heavy enough that it doesn't move around or push the keyboard, as some of the other types of wrist rests that I've used have done. Yet it's cushiony while sturdy enough to provide support.
It would be a great wrist rest if... By A3KDPLKKD4YKXL on 2007-07-21
...it hadn't started popping open at the seams about 1 week after I got it. Inside, there's icky gooey stuff that spills out. I ducktaped the opening shut, and that did it for a while, but now other parts of the wrist rest are tearing open, so I guess I'll just get a new one. I really didn't use this wrist rest very heavily and I'm surprised and disappointed it fell apart this quickly without heavy use.
