  • Great CD but save money w/the 5 dics set

    By on 2002-07-13
This CD is great. It has both old and new Disney classics. But...for about [$$$] more you can get all these songs and about 80 more. The 5 disc set sold here at Amazon has 99 Disney classics and sells for about the price of 2 CDs. The 5 disc set includes songs such as Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah from the no-longer released Song of the South, songs from the theme parks like the Electric Light Parade theme, It's a Small World from the NY World's Fair...it has them all! Buying the CDs seperately you probably spend twice as much + shipping; save some money--the 5-CD set is the way to go.

  • Great Songs from Disney!!!!

    By on 2001-04-23
This CD, is probably one of the best disney cd's ever! It has songs from unforgetable disney classic's such as the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and so many more. This is a great CD for kids, adults who have known these songs for a while, and of course disney lovers!!!! I myself love disney and have since I was born. The songs are so magical and bring out a happy feeling inside your heart. These are songs that you will always treasure. The compilation is wonderful, you get a real variety of great disney songs. To anyone that loves disney, this is a dream cd for you, and always remember. A dream is a wish your heart makes!!!

  • How Can You NOT want this?

    By A2ZFN6C4SYAKAS on 2001-07-03
From "Heigh-Ho"(1937) to "You Got A Friend in Me"(1997) Everything on this CD is great. "I Won't Say I'm In Love" is probably my absolute favorite Disney Song. "Heigh-Ho" is always a fun one, to.

"Cruella De Vil" never gets old, either. Everything is great. It's long enough for the money. If you are still reluctant, you can't buy it used here.

But you shouldn't be, especially if you are (Kids) looking for great music you are familiar with or (Parents) something your kids can listen to that's non-violent, and that isn't the annoying bunch of female pop stars you all hate. If you want enjoyment, you want this. (The Catch To This Review? I'm thirteen years old!)

Disney's Greatest, Volume 1 is the first installment in a fine CD series of classic Disney music and show tunes. The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork is very nicely done as well.

Phil Collins starts off the track set with a great tune from Tarzan entitled "Strangers Like Me." "Strangers Like Me" is a very good number and Phil Collins does this very well. The musical arrangement is also very lush--what a fine opening number! Susan Egan and Cheryl Freeman do a duet on "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)" from the Disney movie Hercules; they sing this to perfection and they harmonize very well on the chorus. The keyboard works well for the arrangement and "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)" is a major highlight of this album.

Randy Newman sings one of my very favorite tunes on this album, "You've Got A Friend In Me" from the Disney/Pixar film called Toy Story; Randy sings wonderfully and his excellent sense of timing makes his performance stronger still. In addition, "The Circle Of Life" from the soundtrack of The Lion King is brilliantly performed by Carmen Twillie; this is another of my very favorite Disney tunes from recent years and I could never tire of hearing this fantastic hit! Listen also for the great Angela Lansbury to perform "Beauty And The Beast" with panache; Angela sings very well and her voice is as clear as a bell. Great!

There's also another favorite of mine, "I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)" from The Jungle Book Disney film; this is performed by Louis Prima with Phil Harris and Bruce Reitherman. This song swings brightly and I always liked "I Wan'na Be Like You." The woodwind instruments make the music very good and the percussion marks the beat as well. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo (The Magic Song)" from Cinderella features a fine performance by Verna Felton; Verna sings this beautifully and it's a timeless Disney classic. James Baskett also makes good on a wonderful rendition of "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah;" this is yet another one of my very favorite Disney tunes.

The CD ends strong with Cliff Edwards performing "When You Wish Upon A Star" from Pinocchio. Cliff sings this with great sensitivity and this is very impressive. I love it!

Overall, this is a very strong CD installment in this CD series of Disney classic tunes. Diehard fans will want the other CDs in this set and they may also want to consider the box set of these CDs as well.

  • What fun!

    By A69Z3F9A2ILNP on 2003-06-15
Having grown up with Disney movies and cartoons, this collection of memorable songs is a lot of fun to sing along to in the car (especially with some friends as we are driving up to Walt Disney World). These songs are from some of the best-loved movies in Disney history. They are all in digital quality (not those audiotapes I used to make by hooking my cassette player to my VCR). The liner notes even include the full lyrics to these classics.

I just purchased this cd and am totally amazed at the quality. Not only that, me and my husband both love it. If you don't have kids this cd is still worth getting.

  • THE BEST OF THE CLASSICS!

WHAT MORE CAN I SAY I LOVE THEM ALL AND THEY ARE COMPILED GREAT

  • Simply Captivating

Bookended by one of the best modern era Disney songs, "Strangers Like Me" and the timeless "When You Wish Upon A Star," this collection from Disney is definitely worth the money. It includes some of the best songs that you and your children have ever heard. Whether or not you've seen all of the films represented here, it's a good bet that you will recognize most of these songs.

I won't waste much time going into a lengthy explanation of the disc, just know that it has songs on it that range from "Snow White" and "Sleeping Beauty" to "Tarzan" and "The Lion King." Personal favorites include the aforementioned tunes, "I Wan'na Be Like You," "Circle of Life," and "Heigh-Ho."

Also, special attention needs to be given to "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" from "Song of the South." I was lucky enough to see this wonderful film back in the 80's when it was re-released in theaters. To this day, it is one of my favorite films of all time. Unfortunately, Michael Eisner and other suits up at Disney felt that this particular film would be deemed offensive by most folks these days. Due to this ignorance, Eisner and Co. have robbed today's youth of a wonderful film. Fortunately for us, the Eisner era has come to an end and it has been rumored that "Song of the South" will finally get the DVD treatment at the end of this year to celebrate its sixtieth anniversary. Thanks for finally waking up Disney.

Highly recommended album. It deserves to be in music lover's collection.

With the possible exception of "Mulan", I haven't found any Disney movie made after "The Lion King" up to par (though I've yet to see "Tarzan"). That said, don't overlook Classic Disney, Volumes 1 and 2 (there are more, but the producers really started to add a lot of "filler" songs). They contain many of the songs some of us might indeed consider "classic" Disney.

  • The Audible Heart and Soul of Disney
    By AL2LECOPU3YVP on 2006-02-16
This, as well as volume 2 and 3, is the finest collection of songs ever assembled by any movie company in the world. They have a timeless quality to them that makes them just as enjoyable now as they were so many years ago. They remind me of my childhood, and they help me relax after a long, hard day of work. A must have for any Disney fan.

  • Disney's Greatest Hits

    *Hannah, age 12*
Once again Walt Disney brings us the magic we adored in Cinderella, the absolute fun we shared with Mary Poppins, and the beautiful enchantment of friendship in The Fox And The Hound and Lady And The Tramp. But this time, we get to sing along.
This wonderful collection of beautiful songs that we shared as kids can now be shared with our own children.

Perfect for all ages, this CD beats out all others and will capture you, and in no time, you'll find yourself singing along.

  • Disney CD
    By A2ZHDX3SLGDWPC on 2007-04-10
I have always loved the songs that have come from Disney movies but this CD was a little disappointing. Most of the songs on this CD did not come straight from the movie. Those songs were performed by different artists and did not sound like the original.

  • Disney's finest
    By AAH8LVF6DA0CF on 2005-08-26
Once again a cd I bought for my kids, specifically for my daughter who is a huge Disney fan. Owning almost all their movies I thought it was time to get her the music from the movies she loves.

Like my daughter I have my favorites on this CD while she is a fan of the more bubbly songs like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious I like the calmer songs like Reflection and Beauty and the Beast. Naturally as with any Disney song/ music I can only listen to one song so many times before I go a little lolo. However Disney music makes me and my kids connect on a different level making us all dance and sing along wishing us grown ups to be kids again :) .

I recommend this cd for anyone who loves Disney music.
It's a good mix of newer songs and old classics that shouldn't be missing in any good Disney Soundtrack collection.

  • A Great CD of kids favorite music that wont drive you nuts!
    By A8KJS2P6E5DCB on 2005-10-25
It is so great to finally have a CD set that has a huge list of the true disney favorite original songs!
I love listening to my favorite Disney songs as much as the kids do.
It is really nice to have some kids music you wont mind playing.
Disney makes great music you want to listen to again and again.

  • near perfection
    By A2JTF5W7579V4L on 2006-07-24
well i am a fan of disney music from most disney films so i figured this might be good to own. when i actually looked at the track listing i knew i just had to have this cd and i'm so glad i bought it! this is easily the greatest compilation of disney songs ever!! this is definately one of my favorite cd's and is a must own for any disney lover or music lover in general, and here's why...

first of all this volume takes the more sereous songs from disney's works (there are a few exceptions like "won't say i'm in love") but these songs are the one's that are so memorable from their host films. these are the songs that defined their films like "the circle of life," "a whole new world," and "beauty and the beast" just to name a few. this cd certainly brings back fond memories with EVERY track and is just a great song. now i need to stop because otherwise i just won't quite raving!!

  • Fun
    By A7LJOIPKYRK6M on 2006-11-15
Got this cd to listen to with my 6 month old son. While Disney annoyingly put some of the songs from cheesier more recent films, I enjoy the classics that remind me of MY childhood and hope my son likes them to.

  • Timeless Disney music
    By AT22XS4HE6SOK on 2007-05-06
Nothing brings sweet recollection of Disney movies like hearing the wonderful songs. In an age where there so much music with no redeeming qualities, these Disney CDs are priceless. Wonderful for the entire family to listen to around the house or in the car while traveling. We can't help but sing along. We love that these are the original tracks from the movies! Wonderful! We now have all three volumes.

  • Great songs

I bought this CD for a very good friend of myne that was spending his b-day alone in the US while a short visit he was doing to his grand mother. Well, guess what, I bought the item like 2 days before and the present got to his door on the very day of his b-day right in the morning! he was shocked by the sorprise I gave him and I was shoked by the great timing!

Only a few good songs, most are slow and boring. My daughter doesn't care for the whole CD, so we skip most of the songs and keep playing the 3 she likes. Save your money. Sometimes you need the visual of the movie to make the song. Alone it's not the same.

  • Love the Different Combo of Disney Songs
    By AUISZ4SUFW394 on 2008-01-14
We purchased Volume 1 because of the combination of songs that my 4 1/2 yr old loves. We play it all the time in the car and she makes request on what number song she wants and follows along with the insert book. Great selection of old and new disney songs.

  • Makes for an entertaining ride.
    By A2DH23TMLDFS6D on 2008-03-10
My 4-year old daughter loves to listen to music in the car. She's a big disney fan and loves most all of the songs on here. There's a great mix from all her favorite movies.
