  I have no idea why Amazon recommends this for the C330 GPS as it doesn't fit that model. I ordered it on Amazons recommendation and decided it is too much trouble to send it back. They need to check out what works with what. Be careful what they add as accessories as they may not work with the model you order.

  It's a cord and two connectors; one end plugs into your GPS receiver, the other end into a 12-volt outlet in your car. Simple. Remember that running the GPS off car power means you can leave the receiver on continuously and even use the backlight as much as you want.

  I don't know why or how a power cord deserves 5 stars, but there was nothing wrong with it. Perhaps one must assume that we are now on a five star scale, expecting perfection. If so, then it passes. Normally, I would give this 3 or 4 because it doesn't do anything except forward electrons into a handheld gps, yet it does it adequately enough to escape criticism. Do NOT expect it to entertain or mystify you, however, because it has 5 stars.

  What one must now ponder is how to rate the truly exceptional items that not only perform without flaw, but also have some lagniappe that warrants more recognoition. Maybe that type of sentiment is something that can be found only in a review.

  Perhaps Amazon could have a practicality/spartan scale and a sentimental/emotional/moral scale for artistry.

  I'm sure the item is well made and would be great if it fit, but as one reviewer has stated, the website encourages you to buy this for units that are not compatible. I bought this along with the 60cx and saw that the 60 series was not listed on the package. I decided to try it anyway and discovered that the pin configuration was slightly different and would not fit. I went to the Garmin website and checked the part number. They too, lead you to believe it will fit, but I wasn't about to use a hammer to try and prove them right! At this point, I don't know if there is a 12 volt power cord available for the 60cx. Has anyone else had this problem?

  I bought it for my c340 but it does not work with it. Maybe it was my fault for not reading the description in depth. I really thought it did say it is good for street pilots, though. There might not be anything wrong with the item but it needs a better technical description.

  I bought this adapter to run my Garmin 60CSx GPS when travelling in the car to a geocache. Saves on batteries, particularly for long drives. There is an indicater on the GPS that shows it's plugged in. When I unplug it my GPS warns me that the power has been disconnected and I'm prompted to push any key to switch to battery power. I push enter and am all set. Glad to have made this purchase.

  I use with my Mapsource 76S and this is a "must have" item for in-car use. On a trip of any length you are going to burn thru a lot of batteries. But, with this power cord you can turn the GPS on at the start of a trip and leave it on. Also the back light stays on all the time, which is necessary for car use at night. With batteries only the back light will auto turn off after a max of two minutes.

  Found the cheapest price here at Amazon. Bought this for my Garmin GPS60cs I had recently purchased at an inventory reduction sale. Plugs into my 12vDC outlet on the dash of my truck, powers GPSr just dandy!
  
  
• Don't be fooled, you have options

  I made a little discovery when I was using my new 60Cx last night. It can be powered from the USB connection!! That means that any old AC/DC to USB power adapter can provide power for my GPS. I am currently looking at a cheap AC to USB model made for the Motorola RAZR (under $1 on amazon!!!). It uses the same mini USB connection as the 60Cx and I just need to check the power ratings between the two to make sure they are compatable. Will update this review with the results of my research.
  
  Update 3/5/07: It works! 60Cx powers up with no batteries and RAZR mini USB charger attached to USB port. Lots of cheap options for this charger, mine is on the way for 5.50 with shipping. Also, I wish I could go back and change the star rating as I'm sure there is nothing wrong with Garmins charger, other than it is more expensive.

  No big surprises - this works as you'd expect it to. It has a replaceble fuse and is an "official" Garmin product.
  
  You need one of these if you are navigating at night so you can keep your backlight on the whole time.

  It won't plug into my Street Pilot, as the plug is different. I'm sure it fit some unit, but it's a door stop for me. What units it fits should be better described or corrected.

  This DC power adapter has worked well on my ATV and in my vehicle quickly paying for itself by saving the cost of batteries. It quickly plugs into the power port on my Kodiak 450 and into the back of my GPSMap 60CSx and we are off and running. If you use your Garmin GPS a lot I would recommend this product.

  I purchased this adapter for my Garmin 60Cx but don't use it because I realized that the car charger for my Motorola Razr phone works instead. It's easier to plug in and doesn't interfere with the car mount as much.

  This adapter works just fine with my 60CSx GPS unit. Nothing flashy, comes just how you see it in the picture. For some reason the description doesn't show that it works with the 60 series, but I promise it does work with my model. It allows you to keep the backlight on all the time.   This item popped up as I was purchasing a C330. I thought I needed it. Wrong! Not only does the C330 come with its own 12v cable this on would not work anyway. Beware! You will be returning it just like I did.

  After mulling over it for a long time, searching for the proper auto adapter for my 60CSx for a few months, and receiving conflicting recommendations from retail salespeople and individuals who wrote reviews here before I, I finally decided to buy this one - I could find no other recommended. Thankfully, it works like a charm. There are a few people who say that they could not get this cable to fit their 60-series receivers, and I'm here to say that it fits my 60CSx that I bought at the end of May 2007, and it does say 60-series on the package.

  I have the same problem in 2/3 of the cars I've tried it in. The springy center part does not spring out correctly leaving only intermittent contact. I got Garmin to sent me a second one free, but it has the same problem! This makes 3 total, since I had one of the older style ones with the COM port for my older unit. I had to fix that one using the spring from a ball point pen.
  
  It's not just in my car either. I've used other car adapters without any problem.

  I bought this adaptor because the order page gave me the impression I needed it to run my Quest in the car.
  In fact it is not compatible at all with the Garmin Quest.
  There is nothing wrong with the product it just should not be suggested as a purchase when you buy the Quest.

  It plugs into the back of my GPSmap 60CSx without any problem, plugs into the cigarette lighter without any problem and...VOILA! 12V power! I didn't experience any of the problems other users did with the 4-prong connector not fitting propoerly.

  be warned!!! don't believe James Steiner's review about this adapter working on eTrex!!!

  nothing wrong with the item itself but, this product is NOT for eTrex series at all!!!! i kinda knew that by looking at its description, but the following review just misled me to the wrong way so now i have a headache to deal with when i got the Vista and the adapter that doesn't work on my GPS.

  I use this with my Garmin E-Trex Vista. Never worry about running out of batteries as I drive. Use away from home to track your travels. Cord is long and durable. Light lets you know if it is getting power.
