Cyber Acoustics CA-3080 2.1 Computer Speakers (3 Speaker, Charcoal)x$19.00
    (18 reviews)
Best Price: $29.99 $19.00
The first thing that strikes you about this speaker system is its elegance. When you hear the price tag your thoughts turn to "unbelievable, how can a system like this be so affordable? " Then there is the performance, complete with a wooden subwoofer cabinet and flat panel satellite speakers, are powered by a built-in 26 watt amplifier. The deep rich bass response and crystal clear highs are balanced perfectly.
The CA-3080 is an affordable three-piece flat-panel subwoofer system. The two 2.5-inch magnetically shielded satellite speakers take up a small amount of space and can be placed next to monitors or other video devices without causing distortion. The 4-inch, 14-watt high-excursion subwoofer provides excellent bass performance for music and digital audio applications. This is a great solution for those with limited desktop space.

Good inexpensive product By A1Y5MOIZJJBJ06 on 2001-05-19
Being thrifty,I decided to try these speakers. My wife thought I spent at least $100.00 She thinks they rock. They work very well for most of the computer games out there. Lots of bass, plenty of volume, although with no controls for bass and treble I find them to be a little to much for MP3's. Overall , good value for your money!
My $0.99 cheeseburger didn't have fresh lettuce... By A1ZSO4HKRJEOFK on 2005-04-09
I see that a few people have whined and moaned about the sound quality of these sub-$30 speakers.
I dunno. Maybe these same people pitch a fit when their .99 cheesburger isn't as good as the $10 they can have in a real restaurant.
The bottom line is that price is the ultimate consideration here. I purchased these speakers primarily to use for mp3's before I burn them in order to conserve HDD space. At apartment-style noise levels, these speakers provide reasonably crisp detail and enough bass to let you know that it's there. If the bass sounds cloudy, or 'muddy,' either turn it down using your EQ or the straight-shooting knob on the speaker itself- or, spend more money on a sophisticated set designed for self-proclaimed audiophiles.
I happened to be in Radio Shack grabbing some cables for my real stereo and happened upon these for $29. They look sleek on either side of my laptop, are a cinch to connect, and, with said tweaks, they sound very, very good for THIRTY DOLLARS! To a less discerning audience, they can fill in for an actual stereo system. For my uses - and I'm assuming the use of anyone unwilling to spend more than a few dollars for speakers - this unit goes above and beyond the price point.
What's truly sad is that I'm bored enough to have written this... :)
Um...don't believe all the bad reviews By A31TWQ37IGPU73 on 2005-03-09
First of all, for less than $30, you're not going to find much better than these speakers. Secondly, for less than $30, you shouldn't be expecting Bose quality sound. There IS a reason that these are so inexpensive.
Fact is, these speakers more than do the job for good sound on a very reasonable budget. There IS a bass control, so you can dial that up or down as much as you want. Not really sure why some of these reviewers can't seem to find it. It's there on the right speaker.
And, if you have a program or sound card that offer a graphic EQ you can tweak the sound until you're satisfied. Not enough midrange? Well then pump it up on the graphic EQ. Too much high end? Well then dial it down. They do sound a bit tinny out of the box, but that's entirely correctable with a little EQ adjustments.
I use it at work, just listening to mp3's and gotta say that it sounds pretty darn nice. Took a little bit of tweaking, but they are just fine. Sure you could step up to the Creative T-3000 for $50. They are awesome, but $20 is $20. If you want a decent set of speakers for cheap, these will work.
Just plain bad sound By A2NBFZD37A43M on 2002-02-03
I bought these speakers to replace the very poor speakers that came with my system. I didn't want to spend too much for a new set, so I thought I would give the Cyber Acoustics a try.Well, I've learned my lesson, because these speakers sound even worse then my old pair. The base is overpowering and has an artificial pitch. Don't think that just turning the base down will help either; all you hear then is the loud hum it makes. The sound range says it is from 35hz - 20000hz, and that may be true. However, it sounds like the satellites are only 10000hz-20000hz and the subwoofer is 35hz-1000hz. I think you should stay away from any Cyber Acoustic PC speakers. They sound terrible; it's as simple as that.
Cheap Price, Cheaper Sound. By A1FI4J3P8YDCL5 on 2002-01-04
These are bargain speakers, they are very inexpensive. Here's the thing, the sound like bargain speakers. They crack at high volumes. This is not simple distortion, this is staticky garbled noise. These speakers are adequte for most games, but the don't cut it for music, the trebles crack, and sound tiny. the base sounds empty and garbled. These are not good speakers, they are accepable for low fidelity, low volume listening and for minor sound effects, but anything beyond that is unaceptable.
- good speaker for the price
     By A37P164PI8PH3E on 2003-01-28
this set is elegant. although i don't think its not a "real" flat panel speaker set, it looks good.the sound is clean, crisp, wide. loud enough for gaming and casual listening (mp3, cds...). base is good too. no earjack though. for the price i paid ~20, its a good buy.
- You Get What You Pay For (and more)
     By AWOPES61SD670 on 2005-09-21
Amen to the previous reviewers' remarks about $.99 burgers, etc. Had to replace my old Altec Lansing subwoofer set, and found this to be worthy replacement. The style is nice, the blue lights are funky and cool. The sound is more than good enough for streaming audio, mp3s or CDs. Yeah, you can pay $250 for a top notch set, but for $30, these are great.
- More control better
     By AAV1HFIPU78D7 on 2001-08-28
The sound quality is good and enough for a room. It looks nice. It only has a on/off and a volumn switch. Maybe other controls are not necessary since usually the computer and CD, MP3 players can take care them.
- I can enjoy music again...
     By AD5XUQTYS74NU on 2001-11-16
I have just moved to college, and I don't have a stereo in my room, so I had to listen to music on my laptop with its ridiculous built-in speakers. Then I decided to buy these speakers (...) and I'm completely satisfied. Massive bass, pretty clear highs (...) Have fun and enjoy the music!
- Don't believe the bad reviews for this speaker.
     By AOH0L1LAFI74D on 2005-08-29
The people writing unfavorable reviews on the CA 3080 either have recieved defective speakers or else they are comparing them to speakers costing two or three times as much. Compare them to any other speakers in this price range and listen. If $30 is your price range you wont go wrong with these speakers. They sound great!

... because that says it all. I've been in professional audio work for the past 20 years so I think I have a decent perspective on the matter. That review pretty much sums it up. Cheap? Yes Good for the price, Yes, ESPECIALLY with some EQ tweaking (of which any version MS Media higher than 8.0 has). So, uh... yeah! :)
- New Improved 3080
     By A2KJFN70BVBK00 on 2004-12-08
The new black version of CA-3080 is quite nice for the money and the sound is reasonable. The bass control has a wide range so you can vary the amount of thump you want, although you may not want to push the smallish 4" subwoofer, and the 2.5" polymer drivers. The claimed frequency response is 20-20,000 hzs, I could not verify but the sound is quite good. The new version has cool blue lights on the drivers and claims output of 26 watts. Not bad for the price. But spring for the Logitech Z-3 instead.
- Just plain sucks. never buy it
     By A2I5KQ4AFOX8FY on 2005-02-10
Its sound, design really suck. Do not buy this item. There is no midrange sound, the buttons are cheap. It give sound it is ok but if you can call it as sound. If you are looking for a speaker system in this range buy Creative Inspire T3000. It is great. Never buy iy
- These speakers are not worth the asking price!!!
     By A334YBOVXEPS47 on 2005-06-04
I purchased these speakers today and hooked them up. I clicked on my iTunes, and then Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher". The sound quality was crap! All of the treble came from the satellite speakers while all of the bass came out of the woofer. Cymbals sound like one long sssssssssssssssssssssssssss. David Lee Roth had no bass in his voice.
Next I tested the speakers with a little Placebo. It was aweful!!! These speakers are going back to "place of purchase".
- Great speakers for the price, but not for the extremely discerning
     By A29B89N8JTII6M on 2006-05-23
They sound really good and they look techy too. The sound is a bit "tinnier" than I would have liked, but the bass from the subwoofer is great. It comes with a Y-adapter for use with left/right audio cables (like on a Playstation or something). There's a power button, a volume wheel, a bass wheel, and a headphone jack on the right speaker. The bass is automatically reduced along with the volume. The subwoofer plugs into the outlet, the right speaker plugs into the subwoofer and audio jack, and has a permanent (but long) cord connecting to the left speaker. The blue light (on the new model) is a bit gimmicky but looks neat nonetheless. The speakers are magnetically shielded and the subwoofer is not, but it's supposed to go on the floor anyway. The AC adapter is much smaller than usual (and more convenient). For the price, they're a steal.
