  I bought it hoping to use in conjunction with my TRV-30 camcorder.
  First problem: the only practical use for it is when you need to rewind the tape all the way to the beginning, because it has no indicator to tell you exactly where you are. So if you want to rewind to a particular scene, you still need to use your camcorder. And every time you take your tape out or put back in your camcorder, a lot of parts are moving back and forth inside the camcorder, so I wouldn't want to do it too often.
  Second big problem: when you want to rewind the tape all the way to the beginning, the rewinder slams it to stop unlike the camcorder that can detect the clear lead at the end of the tape and stop it gently. After I rewound two of my Sony Excellence tapes in that rewinder all the way to the beginning, my camcorder wouldn't even take them, displaying error message on its LCD and eventually jamming the tape.
  Luckily, I bought it [somewhere else], where it seems to be cheaper.... I'll still try to return it.

  This looks exactly like the "LENMAR" version AND - if it is then it probably is as BAD (read revies on the LENMAR rewinder)
  
  

• Great until it ruined my vital mini dv tape

  This is a cheap product. It destroyed a tape during rewinding. I recommend skipping this one and finding something that works.
  
  I did, however, rewind tapes about 15-20 times before this happened.
