  My daughter, age 2, will tell you that this is Elmo and Telly's video, and that she loves it. As a parent, I will share with you that my little one has number recognition to 20 thanks to these classic counting cartoons. I was pleased to see that they had included such classics as the King of Eight.

  We own several of Sesame Street's counting videos, but this one is by far the best. My daughter enjoys the "video game" - type format (Elmo and Telly are trapped inside a video game and have to work their way to 20 to get out), but I like that the number focus does not stop at 10, as is the case for many preschool videos.

  As a teacher, this video would be good for students who need number recognition reinforcement or for English Language Learners.
  
  

• A Great Numbers Video

  This is the only numbers/counting video that has consistently held my 2 year old's attention. It's frequently requested and has helped her learn numbers. MUCH better than "1-2-3, count with me" or "learning about numbers" : both of these sesame street videos spend more time on "plot", and my 2 year old always loses interest well before the end. Not the case with "The Great Numbers Game", which is jam-packed with cool number cartoons and plenty of lively counting sequences.
  
  

• No plot -- hastily thrown together skits

  The 123 Count With Me video starring Ernie is much better done, with lots of muppet acting and takes the numbers to only 15, but with a personal touch. That video totals upto 45 minutes of enjoyment for parents and toddler. This video on the other hand features all of 2 minutes of Elmo, Telly, Gabi and another child. There is not coherent plot -- i.e. while they start off with a video game premise, they just throw together all of the skits on numbers, and never have the muppets appear to actually lead in each script. After a while of random skits on half the numbers, Elmo or Telly makes a brief aimless appearance. And even stranger, there is an unexplained scary cookie chasing them. This approach quickly turns off both the parents and the toddlers who wait for glimpses of their favorite characters. Pass on it. AND the DVD version is made without any extras, such as subtitles, or sing-alongs etc.

  I have a 2 year old daughter that ADORES the Sesame Street Characters, especially Elmo. We have many Sesame Street videos that she asks to watch very often but when I put this one on for her she was not happy.First off, Elmo, Telly & the 2 little girls are hardly in it. The video tape mostly shows the little cartoon skits. That's usually fine but on this tape it's back to back skits with hardly any Muppets in between them.My daughter quickly became bored and actually asked me for a book while this tape was on.Something she has NEVER done while Sesame Street tapes are on! It simply could not hold her attention.If you want a good Sesame Street Counting tape try "1,2,3 Count With Me".It doesn't have Elmo in it but features Ernie instead. That one holds her attention and she's learning how to count because of it.

  This is one of the worst Sesame Street Videos ever! It has way too many segments and HARDLY ANY PLOT! Okay, before I complane, let me tell you about the "Plot" this video has to offer. It seems that Elmo, Telly, and some kids have found a "Start Button". Having no idea what it starts, (Except for Telly, who thinks it starts the circus) they push it, only to get sucked into a strange video game like world. They soon discover that in order to get out of here, they have to find all the numbers from 1 to 20! Okay, now that's a story, but the writers didn't take advantage of it! The only numbers we see the gang find are 1, 10, and 20. The rest are shown in a cramped half hour limit, making for one very poor video! Oh, and there's a strange giant cookie that keeps rolling after the gang! And it is Fun to see Elmo and Telly with feet. The video advertised "The Best of Classic Sesame Street Counting Cartoons". The only true classic here is "The King Of 8" skit, which Jim Henson himself wrote. And why are some of the numbers here repeated? This video could have been great, but decided to try to fit as many cartoons as they could into a half hour time limit! The best Sesame Street videos have great segments AND great plot! This has neither. If you are looking for a good Sesame Street video, pass on this one! You would make a better choice buying another Sesame Street title, like "Sing Yourself Sillier At The Movies" or "Count It Higher".
  
  
• We love THIS VIDEO!

  The Great Numbers Game has great catching tunes that get your toddler & preschoolers to learn to count from 1-20 in no time flat. I really don't understand the complates about this video having no plot. This vidoe is made for toddlers and preschoolers not school age kids. I'm a home daycare provider. My toddlers and preschoolers love to sing along to this video. I love watching the old cartoons that I watched as a child.

  My daughter loves this video. Watching Sesame Street has helped her to learn the alphabet and the numbers 1-10. This video is especially helpful because it has skits about the different numbers from 1-20 (we're working on learning 11-20). My daughter loves Elmo and Telly who are both in this video. My husband and I don't mind this video (some of them get to be too much after awhile). My daughter is 18 months old and I'm sure we'll be watching this video for months to come.
  
  
• Poor graphics and no continuity

  This is the first Sesame Street Dvd that our 16 month old actively dislikes. A series of older sesame street cartoons are strung together very loosely by Telly, Elmo and two kids on a computer generated background. There is really little action from the characters themselves - no real dialogue or singing or anything which is what my son really enjoys. So, this one was a loser in our household. If you child prefers the cartoons to the actual characters, it could be the perfect dvd for you though...
  
  
• Easily the worst sesame street video...

  ...at least of the ones I've had, and I've had a lot of them. This is like a bad sitcom where they take chunks of older epsiodes and try to make a new one because they're too cheap and out of ideas to make something new. Most of the DVD is made up of classic, but heavily duplicated shorts having to do with numbers. There was not one that I did not already know was on another DVD. In between, they had Elmo and Telly doing some kind of video-game like adventure that made no sense. Much of the acting and movement was so bad that I think that they must have just done it with one take and accepted it. Come to think of it, the plot is so weak that they may have made that up as they went along. As if to add insult to injury, the DVD is very badly made so that you can only get to the video by fast-forwarding (not skipping!) through the annoying commercials in the front, especially that god-awful elmocize commercial that gives us parents nightmares. If you skip it, then you see the FBI warning (oh pleeze) and the Sony Wonder logo, and then you're back to the main menu to start all over again. It's like trying (and failing) to get a piece of childrens software to run on the computer - a crap shoot, and you only wind up frustrated and with a very angry toddler. Save yourself the pain and annoyance, this DVD isn't worth the plastic it's made out of.

  I strongly advise you against buying this DVD.
  This is by far the worst Sesame Street video that we have in our collection...
  
  My boy only sees the first two minutes in which Elmo appears, after that he totally looses interests in the video.

  Totally lame! Not only am I bored, but so is my 21 month old son. We got this video in a set with "Do the Alphabet" and he loves that one, but won't even sit through 2 minutes of this one. Don't waste your money.
  
  
• Just so-so

  This video is not one of the better Sesame Street videos I've seen. My 2 year old son was excited to get it because he's an Elmo fan, but all through the video he keeps asking "Where did Elmo go?" That's because Elmo is hardly in the video. Instead, he shows up only occassionally after very disjointed counting segments. Very disappointing for my son. Also, the so-called plot of being inside a game is weak. Rather than Elmo and Telly actually finding the numbers, which is supposed to be the premise of the story, the video just goes from short cartoons about one number to the next. I do think it's educational and my son will watch it - or at least part of it -occassionally but it's definitely not one of his (or my) favorites.

  ...they stop dead still in their tracks and watch when I turn it on, and my 2 year old has learned his numbers from watching this video, even though I have tried repeatedly to teach him myself. There isn't much of a plot, but it does what it's supposed to do...help kids learn their numbers. I'd definitely recommend it.

  I was disapointed with the alphabet jungle, but was glad to see more of Elmo in this one & characters in this one, plus it's pretty catchy. My child loves the Sesame street t.v. show, and I was hoping that this video, would be more like it, but overall I'm fairly please with this one.
  
  
• A weak entry into the Sesame Street canon

  This math-oriented video is a fairly weak, late-edition Sesame Street product. Included are a couple of older (high-quality) numbers-oriented cartoons, such as "King Of Eight" and "Alligator King," but they are surrounded by a ton of lesser material -- lame, later stuff that has an annoying quality that you don't expect from Sesame Street. Elmo and Telly are supposedly the stars of the program, but the feeble skits they are in (instead of doing or learning math, they mostly just get chased by a giant cookie) and most of the animation is also pretty brainless, even irritating. If you value the intelligence and good humor that was the Sesame Street trademark, this video will be a big disappointment... We watched it once, then I quietly tucked it away and took it back.
