  • Great card, little trouble setting up

    By A3PVEA0JZXPYSP on 2004-04-02
I installed the card on an older Gateway machine with Win98 installed. The card was recognized in the Device Manager but not seen in the Network area. After some surfing I discovered the chipset it uses, Realtek 8139A, downloaded that driver and after installing, everything was recognized and now my network is humming along with no problems. I would have given the card 5 stars if it wasn't for the small driver issue.

  • It works great in my Windows XP computer.

A good cheap way to set up a network, if it is just to share an internet connection, to simply connect two computers.

The card comes with a cable that the instruction manual call a WOL, it says to plug it up to a WOL port on the motherboard behind a PCI slot? It works fine if you don't, I don't know what a WOL Port is, I have opeaned many computers ane never seen a port as described by this manual

I had to replace my old net card since my internet conection was slow. The instalation could not be eaiser. All I had to do was replace the old card and put in the new card. Windows xp did the rest. It found the new card and installed it all on its own.

  • Warranty Warning!!

    By AQNHYFJAU2737 on 2003-03-02
Belkin warranty [is not good]! They will only honor a warranty IF you purchased the product from one of their authorized resellers. Purchases from what Belkin terms as 3ed party resellers, are not eligible for their warranty. I purchased their product, new in the factory box, but it was from a source that was not on their list. I actually bought 2 cards but one was DOA. After a couple of emails back and forth with Belkin, my only recourse was to chalk it up as a lesson learned and I will never buy a Belkin product again because I can never be sure if the seller is on their current list of authorized resellers!!!!!!!

  • not a problem

    By A3AFTX134SEPWS on 2004-06-26
Saw the previous comments so I had the Realtek drivers to hand but they weren't required as I didn't have a single problem installing it on my older Win98se machine. And a bonus - it seems to transfer files faster than the previous 10/100 card that I'd been borrowing from a friend (and thought it was time I returned it!) - a sound purchase at 9 GB pounds, and that was from a High Street retailer!

  • Old computer needed a NIC
    By A5IMSRXL75UB on 2008-04-21
I recently obtained a hard driveless, nicless pc. (Also, no power cables or anything). I needed a NIC for it (as its original was removed). I found this NIC and it was a good price ($0.97). I accidently ordered two, but the price was so low I didn't notice.

Installation was easy, just put it in the PCI slot and put the screw back. Debian (Lenny - Testing) found it immediately like Linux does with most hardware and it worked fine.

  • Can't beat the price for this quality!
    By on 2003-02-03
There are many companies that make PCI card for networking. Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, and even Microsoft now. However, I should recommend this PCI card for anyone who's a beginner in this whole new field called "networking."
Reason #1, the Price. No one in the business can't really the beat the price...
Reason #2, the Quality. Among many products from different companies, Belkin seems to work "just fine." Reason #3, the reliability. Yes, yes, this particular part in your computer, once installed correctly, never seems to go wrong. Very very reliable.
There are some downsides to this product, too. First, it's a little bit of a hassle with all those long wires that go around and around your house, especially when everyone's going for a wireless network. But I should say it's sort of an opportunity cost. You paid [not very much] for this one whereas wireless people have to pay [a lot more] for the adapter (plus, access point is not that cheap, either. Besides, you get faster speed out of this product. I used LinkSys wireless adapter last year. Yeah, it worked great. No wires that go around your room, but I wasn't able to do much with that for obvious reason--it was too slow! So, once again, I decided to go for long, messy wires and a cheap, reliable PCI card. And it's working so nicely so far. It's fast, installing was easy (just open the case, slide it in!), and never caused me any problems that would make me feel like to sue the manufacturer.

  • Win98 drivers it comes with are no good
    By A14THX1FSHNJ0T on 2004-06-07
If not for the comment left by Keith Peterson from Bridgeport, CT USA I would not have been able to get this working. I spent hours frustrated because the Win98 drivers that came in the box would not install. There online chat tech support left me waiting for upwards of 45 minutes before I gave up on them. I had to install the Realtek drivers to get it to work.

  • Works great with 98SE
    By A1Z4H7E88BW8WY on 2006-04-11
I bought this card to install on an older windows 98SE PC. I had purchased a Linksys card for this machine. The linksys card would not install. So after many wasted hours, I returned the Linksys card and bought this Belkin.

I had the Belkin up and operational in less than an hour and had no issues during install. The system has been running on our home network for a week with no issues.

  • Belkin Network Adapter Review
    By ARCED41J1JVB2 on 2008-02-10
I received the adapter in a timely manner. I installed the adapter in an older machine (Gateway 1.3-GHz P4, 5-6 years old) with no problem. I'm running XP professional. The adapter driver was installed automatically (i.e., I plugged and it played). I now have the adapter cabled to a "2-Wire" (brand name) modem, and everything is working flawlessly. I'm very pleased with the supplier, the product performance, and, especially, the price.
