Elmo's World - Babies, Dogs & Morex$7.33

(74 reviews)

Best Price: $7.33

Sesame Street's cheerful redhead chuckles his way through this delightful 50-minute compilation of three favorite "Elmo's World" episodes. First come the babies: real babies, Muppet babies, and animal babies. With help from Mister Noodle, a cast of Muppets, and video vignettes featuring humans, Elmo discovers what babies can do and how to play with them. Next come the dogs. Once again, Elmo's on the move--this time to share important tips about respecting the family pet. The final episode examines life on the farm. Viewers will observe youngsters accomplishing daily farm chores as well as Muppet farmers and barn animals punning around. As Elmo bops around his house (simply drawn and "furnished" with color crayon sketches), he chats with Dorothy the pet goldfish, poses questions to Mister Noodle, and tunes in to his friendly television for helpful cartoons presented by "The Baby Channel," "The Dog Channel," and of course, "The Farm Channel." Educational and entertaining for the younger crowd, each segment explores its topic using a variety of creative, quick-paced methods, enhanced by an upbeat soundtrack. • Perfect Intro to Elmo for Babies

    By A307YFSORUAXSQ on 2003-11-15
My daughter has always loved Sesame Street with Elmo being her favorite puppet. We have the Best of Elmo, which she loves so we had to get this one since she loves looking at other babies and dogs. The segments are adorable with about 15 minutes spent on each. We get to see many different babies, even the Sesame Street cast as babies as well. The dog segment is great for us since it shows our daughter how to get along with our dog. The farm segment is my favorite. Elmo wants to tape Oscar feeding his animals, so he jumps into Oscar's trash can much to Oscar's objection. It is the first look I've ever gotten inside his can. I'll agree with one reviewer as it isn't as educational as the other Elmo's world videos, however it does teach about our world and the life in it. My daughter has been watching Elmo since she was about 8 months old (she's now a lil over 1) and her adoration has grown each day. This is a definite keeper and at the most it will keep your child entertained for about 50 minutes. This is the perfect time to get my daughter to munch on some healthy snacks while I clean up.

  • good for toddlers, too!

    By A3QY2B5J90POMC on 2000-12-01
At about 10 mos. my younger daughter started taking interest in this video. The muppets are interspersed with live-action clips of kids w. babies (as well s farm animals & dogs) which really grabs her attention. Elmo himself is very bright and animated, which attracts the attention of kids younger than the recommended ages (3-6). I would note that my almost-5-y.o. was bored by this after one or two viewings, but is more than happy to explain to her younger sibling what is going on in the video.

I noticed that the other Sesame Street videos we have do not interest my toddler like this Elmo's World video does. It seems less tedious and faster paced with more emphasis on visuals than the other Sesame Street videos do. I would recmmend this one as a nice 'first' introduction to Sesame Street beginning in the toddler years. It dosen't bother with counting and the alphabet like more 'grown up' Sesame Street, but rather focuses on this that are really facinating for really little ones like babies (like themselves!) and animals.

Highly recommend - and sooner rather than later.

  • Toddlers LOVE this video

    By A3RX5RMRAJ8Z5B on 2005-09-19
We love this video. I love that it teachs my kids about babies, dogs, and farms. All three shows on this video are done very well. And I really can't say that with all Elmo's world shows. This video opens the way to talk to young kids about babies, dogs and farms. Which is great. I'm a home daycare provider. Over the yrs I have collected over 100 kids videos. Elmo's World - Babies, Dogs & More! seems to entertain my daycare kids ages 14 months to 5 yrs greatly. I'd say it's in the top 20 favorite videos of my daycare kids.

  • Strange! It is all about bottlefeeding, etc.

    By on 2003-04-10
hmmm. One would think that the makers of Sesame Street would know that breast is best, but, unfortunately, the video shows a bottle in almost every scene that it shows a baby! Not once does it show a baby nursing! Not even an animal baby! Even the animals are fed with bottles in the video! It makes bottlefeeding appear to be the norm (certainly NOT what I want to teach my child)! It also refers repeatedly to "babysitters." I would never leave a baby with a "babysitter" and I certainly wouldn't want to teach my child that babysitters are the norm either. Babies should be with their mothers wherever their mothers go! This video is not for anyone who is a breastfeeding, attached parent.

  • This is a GREAT video!

This is one of the few videos that captures, and maintains, our 2 year son's attention. He loves it! We bought it about 3 months ago and he stills asks to see it. It is wonderful to watch him enjoy it so much...(and to watch him sit still for more than a minute! ). Sesame Street did an excellent job choosing topics that are an interest for this age group. It is both educational and entertaining. We are so happy we bought it and we highly recommend it.

  • Your kid will like it, but it might drive you crazy
    By on 2000-11-15
Elmo is the most annoying monster I have ever met. He never stops talking and laughing in that high-pitched, irritating voice. However, my two-year-old loves him, and she actually learns from the video. The incessant talking is a real incentive for her to speak more herself.

The best thing about the video is that each of the three sections is stand-alone. I don't like to sit my kid down in front of the TV for too long, so the separate sections allow me to limit viewing time while cutting off the video at a logical place. Don't expect to love the video yourself, but who cares what we love? The five star rating is on behalf of the true audience.

  • MY SON LOVES THIS VIDEO!
    By A1LF1OFYH2UM53 on 2001-03-30
Ever since he was 7 months old he has loved to watch Elmo and especially this video. He has "the Best of Elmo" but he likes this one better. Great for children who love animals!

  • Toddler loves it!
    By A1722BV61KE665 on 2002-01-10
My 15-month-old started watching this video even before she started watching Sesame Street on TV. From the beginning, she's loved it and can watch it over and over; as soon as the music starts, she starts stomping her feet in excitement. As others have pointed out, the video is divided into three separate 15-minute segments, so there's flexibility in how to watch it. So long as my daughter doesn't burn out on this video, we should be able to get years of use out of it, as it's pure entertainment now and will actually be educational in the next year or so when she understands more of the content.

  • AN ELMO FAVORITE IN OUR HOUSE
    By A2JP0URFHXP6DO on 2005-03-01
My son received this for his second birthday back in October of 2004 and it has become one of his most favorite DVDs to watch and is one of the 15 or so in his regular viewing rotation. Kids love watching videos with babies and dogs in them and that's the theme of this DVD. Elmo learns about what babies eat, how they behave and the joy they bring to their families.

Then Elmo learns about dogs and how to feed and take care of them. Mr. Noodle is along as he does one of his usual silly routines as he walks a pretend dog much to Elmo's and kids delight.

The last part of the DVD deals with farms as Old Macdonald joins the fun teaching Elmo all about life on a farm. Elmo learns about taking care of farm animals and growing vegetables. This was a fun and educational DVD for kids from toddler all the way through early elementary school, done with the usual Elmo flair, songs and silliness. A classic!

  • Toddler love
    By on 2001-06-13
From the moment we put this video in the VCR, my then-baby, now-toddler, loved this video. She runs up to the television to hug Elmo, and plays peek-a-boo with him in front of the set. When my husband or I are alone with her, we can pop the video in the VCR, put her in her crib, and take a quiet shower while she watches Elmo for 15 minutes.

This is by far the best video we have for her, and highly recommend it to any parent who needs 5 or 10 minutes of "breathe time" to occupy an otherwise inconsolable toddler.

  • terrific compilation of 3 classic "Elmo's World" segments
    By A2MULCX9K5ODC4 on 2004-10-25
Babies, dogs, and farms -- the subjects of these three Elmo segments are completely engrossing for my 16-month-old. Yes, Elmo's voice is a little grating, but it's not about us adults now is it?

Each of the three segments was originally a segment on Sesame Street, so they follow the formula: "what is Elmo thinking about today?" followed by actual and Muppet versions of babies, dogs, and farm creatures, followed by questions from Dorothy, followed by a Mr. Noodle sequence, followed by a cartoon sequence, etc. This is a high-quality transfer and a staple of toddler-taming in our house.

One small thing -- and this is, I realize, a nit that few people would pick -- I am tired of Sesame Street products always showing babies with bottles and saying, "this is how babies eat" etc. Yes, it's how SOME babies eat, but not all. I don't exactly expect Elmo to show Muppets breastfeeding their infant Muppets, but enough with the bottles. If nursing is too controversial to depict or discuss, then avoid the bottles as well.

  • Wonderful!
    By A22SWFH3BKP94C on 2000-06-08
My son, Zachary, loves this tape. Also -- fortunately -- its entertaining for me too. He will sit spellbound for all three segments, occasionally standing to bounce up and down in delight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • The Twins (20 mos) adore it!
    By on 2000-06-25
This Elmo tape is the twins favorite. They sit enraptured for the entire length. It's easy on the parents too -- very funny and charming. Strongly recommend it to any parent who cares about good educational TV. Cheers to the Sesame Street CTW for producing it. More please!

  • Too many animals, too few babies
    By A3F3KH33A0P0VL on 2005-10-26
We were really disappointed with the Babies section of this DVD. I bought it because my daughter loves pictures of other babies, but it turns out that there are only 2 (very short) segments about actual babies, and then the rest of the entire Babies segment is about animal babies. Especially since the other segments of the DVD are already about animals (dogs and farm animals), this was too few babies and too many animals for us. If you're looking for a video of babies, buy a different one!

  • It's Elmo....what can I say
    By A2407STG6MUDIK on 2003-05-06
Another great series of Elmo's World "stuff". While my daughter loves this DVD as much as the other Elmo's Worlds, my only comment on this particular DVD is that it doesn't have the same learning potential as the others. She loves babies and dogs (as most kids do)so that is why it is entertaining for her, but she really isn't getting the lessons out of this one that she does out of the others (like brushing your teeth and puting your shoes on and reading books). Overall it is still a very good program, but I would say it is more entertaining than educational.

  • Twin Toddlers Love It!!
    By A1MAK4287USGZ4 on 2002-10-07
My kids love this video...of course they love anything with Elmo in it though. I like how it is divided into segments so that you can stop after just one if you wanted to. This video has provided my children with hours of entertainment, we bought it for them when the were 1 and they are going on 2 now and still love it.

  • Our family favorite
    By AZZG59GNCS19B on 2002-11-24
Our daughter LOVES this video! She cries for it every day, and we have to watch it over and over again. She especially loves watching the babies and puppies. She will go and get her stuffed dog and sit down with it. We will buy more Elmo videos for her (also telling the grandparents).

I highly recommend this video to other mothers.

  • My daughter's absolute favorite!
    By on 2003-02-03
My daughter is almost two years old. This DVD is her absolute favorite of all of her Elmo videos. She always reaches for this video first. It includes three fifteen minute segments of Elmo's World. It is perfect for a two year old. She's at the stage where she loves seeing other babies, puppies and animals. I can't say enough about this video, except that it's A+.

  • Not our favorite
    By ADLZJAODZKPO5 on 2005-01-29
My 2 year old daughter absolutely adores Elmo. The first DVD we bought her was The Best Of Elmo and she loves it. She watches it over and over. I purchased Babies, Dogs and More because I thought she would love it as well. But we are both disappointed. Although she does enjoy it, she is not as glued to the TV as with The Best of Elmo. The singing and music is lacking in this one. Also Mr Noodle is both annoying and creepy. I realize he is part of the TV show (which I have never watched), but I think the video would be far better if he was not a part of it.

  • Elmo still rules!
    By A1Y4E53ID6J3LM on 2005-02-24
My 2 yr old son enjoys watching this video but then again he will watch anything ELMO! There are parts of the video that are cute and my son is mesmorized by the babies & dogs & then there are parts like Mr. Noodle that he's not interested in. There is one scene that scares my son. It's the scene where Oscar the grouch goes into his garbage can & it gets really dark. All you see are a bunch of eyeballs - some scary - bouncing around on the tv screne. It lasts a couple of minutes & my son starts screaming & gets scared. Does this happen to anyone elses child? I always have to fast forward the video at that part. I am very surprised they would put something so scary in a little kids video! Other than that scary scene, he enjoys the video.

  • babies, barking and the barn
    By A3G2KPY6IAFTTO on 2005-08-02
We only own 3 "Elmo's World" DVD's, but this one makes my 18 month old and 3 year old daughters laugh out loud.
I find Sesame Street much more tolerable than many children's DVD's, but even they can run a stray into the annoying zone at times. "Babies, Dogs & More" offers young children three different topics that are interesting and entertaining for their age cohort. Elmo, the Astin Kusher of the toddler set, has a magnetic personality for the younger generation and for those of us older parents who only remember Bert & Ernie and Big Bird, he is a wonderful ambassador into the "new" world of children's entertainment.

My daughter's and I would recommend this highly.

  • My son LOVES this DVD!
    By AR5IMJ540A0NW on 2005-08-11
I bought this DVD because my 14-month old son loves dogs, and we were going to be taking a long vacation in the car and needed some DVDs to help keep him entertained. This was by far his favorite DVD. It keeps him mesmerized through the whole thing - no matter how often we play it. He even laughs at some of the silliness. I will definitely be ordering more Elmo videos - they are a big hit in our house!

  • My 13 month old is in love with Elmo,,, and this movie!
    By A1GUX6R8DV3ZLY on 2006-02-23
I bought this video because my daughter loves dogs and other animals. I also bought it because there is a segment on babies - as we are having a baby in a few months, I thought it would be good to expose her to little babies. My daughter this loves this video. She asks to watch it multiple times every day. Sometimes we have to hide it. She laughts at Elmo and really relates to all the animals and babies that are shown in the segments.

The video is divided into 3 full length segments of Elmo's World - one on babies, one on dogs, and one on farm animals. My daughter loves each one. Plus they are very educational. If there is a new baby on the way, I DEFINITELY recommend this video as a tool to teach your toddler about babies. It discusses how to play with babies and what newborns are like.

  • Not my first choice
    By AELKH9KKKL16Q on 2007-02-07
My 20 month old son will tolerate this video if we put it in, but it isn't one of his favorites. I'm not a big fan of videos where the characters baby talk. I realize that's kind of Elmo's trademark, but Elmo is a bit of a "mush mouth" in this particular video. There are lots of times when my husband and I can't figure out what Elmo has just said. If your looking for a Sesame Street video, I'd pass on this one and go for "Kids Favorite Songs". My son loves it!

  • This is a winner!
    By A1MO79MDHXB9J3 on 2002-10-31
We've had this DVD for two months now and our 14 month old daughter takes to it every time it's on! What child doesn't love babies and animals? It is a sure win. The DVD feature allows you to get quick access to the segment you want to view, whether it be the babies, dogs, or life on the farm segments. I am always impressed with the high quality and creativity of Sesame Street productions, and this one is no exception.

  • My 2-year old's most requested DVD
    By A3724IQ13IR455 on 2003-01-14
My son is 2 and he just loves his Elmo. This is the only one I bought him so far and he just loves all the characters in this one since they include babies and animals. He would sit there and watch it over and over again. Elmo is always educational and fun. My husband and I have a good time watching the DVD w/ him too, mind you only for the first couple of times. We usually have to restrict the time he sits in front of TV watching this.

I'm interested in finding out from other parents what other Elmo video/DVD would they recommend to increase our collection.

  • My baby loves it!
    By A28Q8I8KAPNM6J on 2003-04-08
I bought this video on a whim when my baby was just a couple months old. She saw it first when she was about six months and loved the Babies! At 10 months she was transfixed whenever I put the tape in and now at 12 months she giggles like crazy at parts. She even hands me the remote when she wants to watch her Elmo tape. I hate to push TV on kids so I don't let her watch it much but it's great when you just need to do something quickly. A tornado could blow through our house and I don't think her eyes would move from the TV as long as Elmo was playing!

  • great small bites of Elmo
    By A1E9N5FK21NDTD on 2003-12-30
this one is great to throw in the mini van for short trips because the segments are short, so you don't have to wait until the end of the DVD to get out of the car (for those with DVDs in their car/van/truck) Basically it is the same Elmo snippets you see on Sesame Street.

  • There are better Elmo videos
    By A1DO6DKWF3CMBD on 2005-03-23
Elmo in Grouchland keeps my kid's attention longer than this one. Still, there is something about that Elmo critter that hypnotizes kids and he's not nearly as annoying as Barney or Blues Clues. Elmo is the ONLY thing that my 17 month old will watch on TV.

  • Perfect Video
    By A14JKL4ESAA8J on 2005-08-20
What a great, entertaining video. Three of my 10-month old's favorite things are; Elmo, puppies and other babies. This video is great for fussy times or to keep her entertained while I need to do something. Just like Elmo's world, the scenes are quick and entertaining for children of all ages.
