Jiffy Steamer J-2000 Residential Series Garment Steamerx$119.99

(100 reviews)

Best Price: $119.99

Jiffy J-2000 clothes steamer, 1300 watts, with plastic steam head. Similar to the J-2 model, but with updated design and ergonomics Quick 2-minute heat-up time, high-impact polymer outer housing, 1300 watt heating element die cast in solid brass, 50/60 Hertz electrical system, low profile, easy-to-handle water reservoir, new "no spill" check valve cap for easy filling, over 1.5 hours of steam per filling, color-coded high temperature wiring, fusible link with automatic shut-off for safety, 360 degree swivel casters for mobility, assembly wrench included. Made in the USA.

This sturdy, durable wand steamer presses wrinkles out of garments, drapes, and upholstery quicker and easier than an iron, and it doesn't "shine" or scorch fabrics like an iron can. Wand steamers are popular in the fashion and entertainment fields, where wardrobe crews must keep clothing immaculate while working quickly. This 1,300-watt steamer shoots high-velocity steam jets out of a 6-inch-wide head to smooth any fabric from sheer silk to thick wool. A removable water tank provides up to 90 minutes of steaming time. The steamer heats in a minute and then rolls to work on sturdy casters. Garments and drapes can be pressed where they hang, including closets, or garments can be hung from a loop atop the steamer's sturdy aluminum rod, which screws together to rise 62 inches above the floor. For storage, the rod has a holder for the wand.

Indicative of the steamer's quality is the brass fitting attaching the hose to the tank. (A wrench to tighten the fitting is included, and it has magnets for storage on the base.) Other features include an automatic safety shutoff if the steamer runs dry and a stay-cool wand handle. The steamer's plastic base measures 11 inches wide, 17 inches high, and 14-1/2 inches deep. The steamer carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack MPN: 1221 - UPC: 732149012216

  • This Thing's Great

Speed through ironing and remove all wrinkles in record time. A waste of money? You don't need an ironing board or an iron and you'll save a lot of time and will not damage your clothes. I bought this because ironing is tough to do unless you have a lot of patience and experience. No more shiny pants from too hot ironing. In fact it's fun to use.

Now my confession. I took a $2000 pair of drapes, and put them in the washer (cold cycle) and then the drier (for linens). Duh! I did it because they were yellow from smoke and if I was going to spend hundreds, I would spend another $2000 if the experiment didn't work. Hadn't had them cleaned in five years. The drapes were clean as a whistle, but wrinkled like a prune. The Jiffy Steamer dewringled them in 20 minutes flat after they were rehung.

The unit arrived with a broken caster. One phone call to customer service and a new one arrived in three days, and they didn't ask for the serial or model number.

Wait! There's more. I have a DeLonghi Steam Cleaner (I give it four stars), but I decided to use the garment steamer to remove grease from my George Foreman grill. That's because the garment cleaner head is hotter than hell on contact. It cleaned the grill fast! Encouraged, I used it to steam grease out of the oven. Worked fast! Then I used it to remove grease and old food from the rubber matts that line the sinks. Within a few seconds it actually boiled the residual water that lay in the sink! I took a tea bag and made tea with the boiled! OK. Now I'm lying.

  • Time-, Money-, and LIFE SAVER!

I have always dreaded the chore of ironing (who doesn't?), but, as a working-profesional, had to either iron my own clothes, or put up with expensive trips to the dry cleaner. Then I came across the Jiffy Steamer J-2000 while shopping at my favorite store. It's the wrinkle-removing steamer that the profesionals use, and it has literally changed my life. No longer do I have to haul out the ironing board - now, in just minutes, I effortlessly steam away wrinkles, and my clothes look dry-cleaner fresh. Everyone needs one of these in their home!

  • Not an Iron for Sure

    By AIRW1I4F5WEJR on 2007-07-07
I had high hopes for this machine. Especially after having read all the reviews here, I anticipated that this steamer would do away w/ my iron forever. However, as a previous user has said, the steamer isn't an iron and it requires learning different techniques and accepting a different standard of "wrinkle free" (not the crisp kind from irons). After 2 weeks of testing it out, I had to return it. I generally don't spend too much $ on dry cleaning and I don't iron every day so perhaps this wasn't worth the price for the little that I thought I would use (coupled with the fact that it didn't produce crisp looks that I wanted). Plus, I burned myself 3x and maybe was too impatient to learn the technique (which I tried to find online w/o much success... if you have techniques, please share w/ other potential or existing buyers!).

I gave this 3 stars b/c it didn't work out for me but would have given the quality of the machine 4 stars since it's a great, sturdy, strong steamer if that's what you're looking for. It just didn't fulfill my expectations of replacing an iron, which is an unfair expectation since this isn't an iron! If you're the type to need this often and can accept the standard of "wrinkle free" (not iron-crisp), then this may be for you! Btw, if you learn the technique enough, perhaps it can look iron-crisp! I didn't go that far w/ this machine so I wouldn't know.

Back to the iron I go...

  • Worthwhile Purchase

    By ACVDP5V2L827O on 2004-10-24
After figuring out that I must be spending in excess of $1000 yearly to have my husband's oxford shirts cleaned and pressed, I decided to cut my losses and purchase a Jiffy steamer.
I am happy with the purchase, so much so that I routinely steam garments that I would not have ironed in the past (t-shirts especially come out looking store-bought new), and it takes very little time.
I have used the steamer on prom dresses with great success.
I am able to press a knife-edged crease in dress pants of all types of material.
I think the best thing about this appliance is that I feel I am damaging our clothing LESS than if I were using an iron.
Don't throw away your iron, however! I must still use it to finish off the collars and shoulders of my husband's work shirts.

  • Great purchase

    By A191KVTRB5A85N on 2005-07-09
After borrowing a friend's ConAir steamer, and reading numerous reviews, I purchased this Jiffy from Amazon about a month ago. The Jiffy seems to be better-built than the ConAir, and puts out more steam, more consistantly than the model I borrowed.

In the last month, I have steamed everything I can think of in my house, to see how it works. I have been pleased with this product, and here is what I have learned:

    1) A steamer is not an iron. While I have read reviews of how you can press creases into clothing, I have not been successful in this (yet). I don't really care about creases, though, and have not spent much time trying.

    2) A steamer is a tool. You have to learn how to use it properly to get good results. Steaming from underneath works better than steaming downward into the right side of the fabric. Just like anyone who uses a hammer a few times is almost certainly going to hammer their finger, you will probably burn yourself while you are learning to use a steamer. When I first started using the steamer, I wanted to steam upwards, like I iron. It was counter-inuitive for me, but it works better to steam downwards.

    3) Wrinkles really do fall out of fabrics, but this seems to only happen with synthetic fibers or blends with a high percentage of synthetics. If I had trouble ironing it, it will take some work to steam it. However, I always iron in more wrinkles than I take out, so for natural or difficult fabrics, I do a better job with a steamer. Fabrics that I was afraid to iron (too thin/delicate) steam beautifully.

Now, about the Jiffy J-2000 specifically:
This steamer heats up very quickly, in just two or three minutes. I like to turn it on while I decide what to wear, and by the time I get it all together, it is ready to use. The wattage (1300) is slightly higher than most personal steamer models and makes a big difference in how quickly you can finish a garment.

The steamer is very sturdily built. It uses heavy-duty plastics, and comes with a wrench (magnetically attached underneath the steamer body) to secure the parts tightly. The pole that holds the steamer head and clothing is shorter than I would personally like (and the hose is a little shorter, too) and stands about 5 feet. I could not steam all the way to the top of my curtains, while they were mounted to the wall. The water reservoir does not leak, although when you pull it out, some water does remain in the connection area, but not enough to make a mess.

The list price on amazon for the steamer was 169.99, quite a deal more than most of the other steamers listed on Amazon. I purchased mine with a special 25$ off through Amazon, so paid 145$. I think that it is worth that price. I would not pay this much for the ConAir model that I borrowed. In a year, I may think the Jiffy is worth the Amazon list price.

  • I can't believe I waited this long!
    By A2UKIOK39DZKP2 on 2005-01-15
First of all, I have to say that I was skeptical about using a steamer to get wrinkles out of my clothes. I once purchased an inexpensive travel steamer and found that it was completely worthless. It produced steam, but it did nothing to remove wrinkles. I was convinced that the only thing I could do to make my clothes wrinkle-free was to iron or use the dry cleaners.

After doing some research on different models of steamers and reading remarks online, I have to say that I still wasn't completely convinced that steaming would work. But I was desperate. My dry cleaning bill is easily $80 every month, and I needed to find another option.

I finally came across the Jiffy Steamer brand. The online reviews were positive. I figured that since they have been in business since 1940 as "the world's oldest and largest manufacturer of steaming equipment", they must be doing something right.

I decided to bite the bullet and buy one. When I received it, I opened the box and was able to assemble it with the enclosed wrench without any problems. I noticed right away the "industrial" look of the unit. The base is very sturdy and impressive. The hose at first seemed stiff and unyielding, however once I turned the unit on and steam flowed through it, it was flexible and easy to work with.

The test: I pulled together my pile of wrinkled clothes that I was ready to take to the cleaners. I filled the reservoir tank with regular tap water, plugged the unit in, and flipped the switch. Literally, within a minute or so, I had steam coming from the head.

I hung my wrinkled silk shirt on a hanger, which I then put on the hook. I put the steam head to my shirt and to my surprise.... it worked!! The wrinkles just disappeared. I then proceeded to steam the rest of my clothes. Again, I had the same great results.

I am very happy with my steamer. It is expensive, but with my dry cleaning bill being $80 a month, it paid for itself in a little over 2 months. I can't say it eliminates dry-cleaning altogether, because it doesn't clean your clothes. But, if like me, you use the dry cleaner because your clothes become a wrinkled mess after wearing them and you need to look "polished" at work, this may be just what your looking for.

Another suggestion to consider: Jiffy Steamer also sells accessories, and one thing that caught my eye was a Steamboard. It is a flat board that has a hanger attached to it at the top. You can hang the board on a wall or a door, so that you can have a flat surface to press the steam head up against when steaming your clothes. Useful if you want to press seams on pants or long sleeved shirts. It's pricey, so I asked my husband if he could make me one instead!

  • NOT for professional or anyone who has actually ironed for years
    By A173I4JVVFUKNY on 2005-11-09
OK - i saw all the great reviews for this product and against my gut feeling that this was too good to be true - i brought it. Well, it does remove wrinkles - however, not in the manner that i'm used to with an iron. I've been ironing for years for work and the steaming quality is just not up to par with an iron. Yes, it will remove the huge wrinkles, like if you leave your shirt in the dryer or if you left it in a ball, but it does not do the next step that an iron does - of making your shirt look crisp and sharp. This is what no steam can do and what i should have realized. No, i'm not looking for a pressed shirt from a steamer, but the faint wrinkles and unevenness left in the shirt are NOT acceptable for any professional.

ALso, I realize that using this tool takes some time to get used to (i'm fine with that) - when i learned to iron from my mother, it look a while and then years of experience - so i'll give you that. However, even with time and technique, though it might be faster and easier, the quality would not improve. I tried leaving the steam head on a shirt for a while, but it still does not make a huge difference. I also got burned more than a couple of times from the steam, the steam tube, the metal on the water tank, etc. - this is definitely more hazardous than an iron.

All in all, unlike all the other reviews, this WILL NOT REPLACE IRONING or your dry cleaning bills. I honestly do believe that the people who are satisfied with this "ironing / steaming" job have a low standard for what an ironed piece of clothing looks like - probably for them removing huge/noticeable wrinkles is sufficient, while for me (and most others looking at this) it just won't cut it - save yourself time and money. Would have loved for this to work, but I'm back to ironing my shirts while watching football...

  • Poor Looks; Outstanding Craftsmanship
    By A1OF53Y6BYWB9T on 2008-02-06
I'll make it simple: If you are looking for a home-edition garment steamer, your top 2 choices in the marketplace will likely be the Jiffy 2000 and the Rowenta 8100.

    I tested both for 10 hours; on a 1 to 10 scale:

    Jiffy (Looks = 6; Engineering = 10; Handling = 9; Craftsmanship = 10).
It looks like a mop bucket on wheels but it performs like a jet engine; every part of this machine from the plate at the bottom of the unit to the steam handle is built for rugged usage.

    Rowenta (Looks = 10; Engineering = 5; Handling = 7; Crafsmanship = 4).
It looks like a UFO but performs like a Pinto with much less steaming power; it is built as a toddler's toy having most parts made with inexpensive plastic including the watertank base and valve: pull the machine a single foot OR tilt it a mere 1 inch and you will experience a slow-building cascade.

Buy the Rowenta 8100 as a decorative piece to make your closet look good.

Buy the Jiffy 2000 as a garment steamer to make your clothes look good.

  • Don't bother purchasing this steamer
    By AMUEKMUVI5V4I on 2006-03-24
I found using this steamer on a garment actually took longer than it would have ironing it. Also, water would drip from the wand when the steam was coming out. The water droplets would leave water stains on my garments. I returned this item.

  • This product works fantistic.
    By A2D2HNW5UC5MTY on 2003-02-27
The Jiffy garment steamer is a great appliance to own. You can easily steam shirts, pants or any garment in a fraction of the time necessary for ironing. This product does not damage fine garments such a silk or linen like an iron can. It easily removes wrinkles from all types of fabrics and is easy to take care of. Just change the water routinely and let the steam flow. I use my Jiffy Steamer every day and I wish I owned a travel model as well!!

  • Wrinkle Free Clothes In A Jiffy
    By AGILLXF8MOSS1 on 2005-12-10
When it comes to ironing, I'm just plain lazy! I've always dreaded the chore and used to spend a lot on dry cleaning services. I came across Jiffy Steamer J-2000 and was quite impressed by its sturdy base and features. I figured that if it works well then I could cut my dry cleaning costs. All the more, after reading all the reviews on amazon I decided to to take the plunge.

Fortunately for me it worked perfectly. Of course it did take a couple of days to master the technique to get wrinkle free, pressed clothes, but it was worth it. I was amazed as to how quickly and efficiently the steamer heats up and removes the wrinkles on most of the garments. I just have to hang my t-shirts on a hanger and place it on the hook provided and then switch on the steamer. The result is quite impressive. It takes care of 90% of my wardrobe and is definitely a great appliance. Something I have to mention is that though the steamer works well on most of my garments, I still have to send my cotton shirts to the dry cleaners for the crispy look and perfect finish or IRON THEM MYSELF, so that I can wear them for a formal day out. No points for guessing that they land up at the dry cleaners! This is the reason I have given the product four stars. I highly recommend this product and my advice to anyone who is looking for a fast, easy, time saving substitute to ironing is to purchase this product.

  • Wonderful machine -- it doesn't perform miracles though
    By A194R4BQ3WXH2J on 2006-03-21
Over time this machine will save you far more money in dry cleaning than it ever cost. Do not expect miracles though. If you think it will replace ironing shirts or pants you will be sorely disappointed. It will remove most wrinkles from "wrinkle - free" pants and shirts. Do not expect them to look freshly starched. For most of those items that need dry cleaning, it will remove the wrinkles from daily wear. I have a blue blazer that is fairly light weight that it does not work with -- the blazer looks like it was caught in a fine spray -- sort of "peeblely" looking. On the other hand most wool slacks and wool sport coats or suits it works miracles -- quickly removing wrinkles. Do, however, let the cloth dry and cool off after steaming (a few short minutes) before donning-- otherwise it will wrinkle again fast. Highly recommended -- if your expectations are reasonable.

  • Note heat-up times, if you're debating between the J-2000 and J-4000
    By A106SCLJJ0MVEB on 2007-04-12
I haven't bought either item yet, but I think I would to start out with the "personal" J-2000 line. Thanks to everyone for reviewing the steamer! For those who might want to UPGRADE to the J-4000 (you do get more power and the extra attachments as one reviewer suggested), make sure to note that the commercial model has a 15-20 minute heat-up time (an important detail which is ommited in the item description), while the J-2000 is ready in about 2 minutes; so that the consumer version would be best for daily use (if you're on the go and always have to figure out what you're wearing for work at the last minute). The J-4000 seems best if you don't mind waiting for the steamer to be ready, if you're going to steam several items of clothing for future use, or use it for bigger jobs most of the time.

  • It really workes like magic!!
    By A2W2K0UQMFAV60 on 2004-09-14
I was initially skeptical that the machine would work but it really did what I hoped it would. I wanted an item freshen up items by taking out wrinkles. It worked perfect for me. Yes it gets hot but if you hold the handle, not the hose, you are fine. A longer hose would have been helpful. It heats in minutes and is simple to use.

I even gave it two very difficult jobs - purchased new drapes that came folded and very wrinkled and a new king size bed spread. Both would have been impossible to iron but worked very well. The wrinkles came out like magic.

I found it helpful to have a work area so that you can hang the items. I used a bathroom and using clips attached to outside of shower door. This gave me a big work area that worked great. I'm not sure if I would always use to replace an iron but for many situations it worked far better than an iron.

  • Upgrade to a Jiffy, it is worth it......
    By A1NPMJXQ35CMH7 on 2007-03-08
I had a less expensive model that I got from QVC, I thought it was ok, I used it for 5 years until it quit working. What I didn't know was how much better steaming can be with a quality product. This steamer is well made, goes together easily and has quality fittings. It has an on /off that you can click with your toe..easy..The steam comes out in a fine mist with no dripping.
With the steamer the wrinkles are gone in a fraction of the time it took me to iron, and it is fun. I guess it is fun because it gets a tedious job done so fast and my clothes look good. It is especially good for cotton slacks..even T-shirts look smooth and finished.

    Summary--well made, good results,saves time,best I have used.

P.S. Steaming tips..I suspended a clothes bar in my basement which places the clothes at eye level. This way I can reach up and steam and pull the items to smooth them as I go. It also worked well to use an over the door hook to hang the clothes.
Skirt hangers are good for steaming pants/slacks/jeans.

  • Not magic, but pretty wonderful!
    By A3TO3DGT21TSCT on 2008-02-14
I bought the steamer after getting tired of looking at all the clothes I was not wearing simply becuse they needed to be ironed. I try to buy things that do not need ironing but am a Banker and my wardrobe is pretty limited if I just stick with those!! I have some weird block against ironing - I just never have the time or inclination to do it, so stuff just went unworn. How ridiculous can you get? This was a last ditch effort before I became the polyester wonder, and I was determined to send it back if it did not work.

Well, it is not going anywere. No, wrinkles do not melt off items as soon as you turn it on and wave it in the general direction of the garment. But a simple pull or tug and you CAN make a decent crease - and wrinkles do come out. The added benefit of the steam clean is unbelievable. I would keep it just for how it freshens clothes and believe it will pay for itself eventually by reduced trips to the dry cleaners.

I do not usually review but depend heavily on those of you that do. I also believe that unhappy users are more likely to post, so thought (as I was browsing reviews on another item) that I should share my experience with this product. If you are thinking about it or have clothes you avoid wearing because you hate to iron GO fo it!!

  • Much easier than ironing
    By A3VO0LV40P9TWW on 2005-11-23
I've owned this steamer for almost 2 years and am still amazed with how easy it is to use and the great results i get. I've ironed my clothes for many years and, being a perfectionist, have always had very high standards as far as how my clothes look. While it may take a little effort to get sharp creases with the steamer it's definitely worth the effort. I now spend less than half the time and effort that i did with ironing and my clothes look just as good. Definitely recommended for anyone who doesn't want to spend hours ironing!

  • Jiffy Steamer works great
    By A28LM7Z1GU4E8R on 2006-08-17
I haven't had the steamer for very long, but have tried it on several weights of fabric and seem to get good results. I need to put a hook up, though, so that the clothing doesn't just hang in mid-air. You have to very slightly put pressure on the fabric. I've brought out the ironing board only once to do a silk blouse. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the results. It was packed very well and came with full instructions, which are clear and easy to use. The unit is very portable and rolls easily. The hose does get hot to the touch, though, so I wouldn't want to use with little children in close proximity. It heats up really quickly, and is just easy to use! It appears to be made very well... I would recommend and should probably give it 5 stars since I don't have any complaints.

  • Works Well
    By A16NM5E1K6D4IT on 2007-04-16
I bought a steamer because a large portion of my wardrobe is far too complex to iron. They are very tailored for a women's shape (very few straight lines) and have many complex and delicated details (ruffles, pintucks, lace, etc).
These clothes were impossible to iron and taking them to the drycleaners constantly was not fun (especially with certain cleaners losing pieces or damaging items ><).

This steamer made it much easier to pull out the wrinkles. I'm still working on my technique so I haven't managed to get all the wrinkles out, but I'm pleased with how well it has worked so far. It has gotten my wrinkly clothing (all of which were recently transported when I moved, very wrinkled) to a wearable state.

I'm only giving it 4 stars because sometimes it's tough to get some wrinkles out and sometimes water drips from the nozzle (when pointed in a downwards position). I recommend it if you have clothes that are difficult or impossible to iron, I don't recommend it if they are ironable because the iron gives a much crisper look.

  • Not the best product for quick steaming.
    By AV16YLQFA0D1G on 2004-08-24
I thought this steamer would reduce the time spent ironing, but it takes more time than a professional steam iron. Also, it "should" have a blast-of-steam option for removing stubborn (linen) wrinkles. I wouldn't recommend this steamer if you're looking to save time. Not worth the price.

  • good for touch-ups
    By AYZ3PDXSBGWD4 on 2007-07-16
Anybody who thinks they will be able to "iron" with this product will be disappointed. It is good for touch-ups. To get wrinkles out of garments that have been folded for storage or for wrinkles from wearing on dry clean only garments.

  • Replace an iron - not quite...
    By on 2004-06-08
I bought this to de-wrinkle my "no iron" shirts straight from the dryer. Not much help. It did work well with polo shirts, shorts, and pants. Perhaps I should have invested in the steaming board to get the professional look, but that item looked very cumbersome. Seems like it would work for drapes and household items that dont need to be perfectly pressed. I was also surprised how little steam came out from the unit, I was expecting a lot more (it just kind of falls out of the handle).

Unfortunately, its back the the ironing board for me!

  • You get what you pay for
    By A1318JHVUMU3BQ on 2007-09-28
The reason I chose this Jiffy model for my wife is that every other model I researched invariably had a few complaints about design, workmanship, durability or the company's customer service. Since Jiffy has been the standard for so long (1940), I figured that it was worth a few dollars more to get a product that defies the adage, "they just don't make 'em like they used to". Jiffy does! This steamer went together in a snap and she steamed a weeks worth of clothes in no time. The device is solid and well built with a sturdy hanger and smooth easy glide casters. It should last for many years - that's Jiffy's reputation - so what's not to like?

  • Buy the commercial grade steamer or high quality iron instead!
    By A3RYVBXUMCBCSI on 2005-09-28
I returned the item the following day as it does not remove the wrinkles on woven fabrics. I was so disappointed because it was not powerfull enough to remove the wrinkles unless you want to keep steaming for 30-45 minutes. If you're in a hurry and does not like ironing it is best for you to buy a commercial grade for $100.00 more. The other reviews sound really good but I think these people only wear knit fabrics or does not know what is wrinkled and not wrinkled. WHAT A BIG WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AS I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO SHIP IT BACK TO AMAZON.

  • This steamer (maybe all steamers) doesn't give you a pressed look
    By A1J1CLMA1R8XXG on 2007-09-11
There is nothing wrong with this item. I think my expectations were wrong. I was looking for something that would give me a crisp look without having to iron. The product works best on lightweight fabrics. I used it on a pair of jeans and it couldn't get all the wrinkles out, especially the little ones.

If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't pay over $100 for a steamer.

  • Works great for everyday, quick steaming.
    By A2TC8HRGSYXHKE on 2004-07-19
If you have some heavy fabrics, the steamer might take time and not get it perfect, but for more than 90% of my clothes, I can steam fast and easy.

As for the poster who said it didn't steam well, it sounds like there is a problem with your unit. Steam definitely doesn't just fall out of this thing. The steam normally shoots out in very strong jets that penetrate clothes quite well.

  • It will take the wrinkles out of grandma!
    By A26AHZGW0IBUPQ on 2006-02-16
Just joking about grandma... But I have a few shirts that are just as wrinkled. The Jiffy steamer works great on them. You know the shirt that you love to wear but because it requires ironing everytime, you just don't feel like it's worth the effort. Not any more! It really is easier and fool proof. I almost didn't buy a steamer because someones review said it was "not for the professional". I don't iron, so i guess thats me. What I get is a shirt that looks wrinkle free. If you need starch and razor sharp creases than an iron is what you need. I have never been fond of starch. Packing a starched shirt only sets the wrinkles and who likes the dermabrasion you get from wearing cardboard. It's cloth! Not wood!

  • Jiffy Steamer J-2000 didn't live up to my dreams

I thought that I could say "goodbye" to the iron & ironing board forever. It isn't that good. It works well on fabrics like T-shirts, but not so well on stiff cotton shirts. Items must be fairly wrinkle-free to start with.

It isn't all I had hoped it would be.

  • jiffy steamer review
    By A21CVKYPQH6YGR on 2007-08-26
great steamer! i wasn't sure if i should spend so much on a steamer but after using it, i don't regret it. it sure beats using an iron. i still use the iron to get the nice crisp folds on pants but the steamer gets out wrinkles on everything i've steamed so far. the steam gets a little hot, but it's manageable. real easy to use. i definitely recommend it.

  • One of the best pieces of equipment you can own

This is a fantastic piece of equipment. I researched steamers for weeks before purchasing, and finally settled on this one because it had the best reviews. They were well-deserved! This product takes less than 2 minutes to produce lots of steam. The metal hook where you hang your garmet is sturdy, allowing for better steaming, and it is easy to remove and fill the water container. Also, this removes wrinkles after one slow swipe with the steaming wand. No, this does not put creases in pants, but it removes wrinkles so easily that you won't miss the crease. That is what an iron is for, if you ever decide to use one again after this beauty.

Note: the best way to steam is to hang the garment, place the wand INSIDE the garment, and slowly run the wand down, from the top to the bottom, while holding the bottom of the garment firm with your other hand. This may sound involved, but it isn't. It is very easy - after you do it once, you get it.
