PF17.0 fits both notebook computers and LCD desktop monitors with a 17" viewable screen. Actual filter dimensions are 10.64" high x 13.30" wide. This filter is designed for non-widescreen laptop computers with screens that appear more square than rectangular and have a 4 x 3 aspect ratio. Privacy filter keeps confidential and private information private. 3M's microlouver privacy technology works like tiny vertical blinds so only persons directly in front of the monitor can see the image on screen. I bought this with some hesitation after reading one negative review...but I'm glad I got it because it works great but keep in mind you have to have the shiney side facing the monitor for it to work properly

You can almost completely stop those peeping toms with this filter. While it is not 100% effective, it does block or blur most of the view from people who are not directly behind you. You can kind of see the double sided tape squares you place in each corner to keep it affixed to your monitor but it isn't obvious enough to be annoying or distracting.
Amazon.com has the lowest price I could find on the web plus free shipping. I got my in 3 days and am completely satisified with this product.
Great for my office environment

If your monitor is directly opposite your door, yes, everyone passing by will be able to see what you do. Since my computer is set up at an angle to my office entrance, it works perfectly. Fits well on my screen, attaches easily, and offers me & my data privacy, all at a very nice price.

I ride a bus twice a day and want some privacy there when working on my notebook computer, so I bought this product. It includes sticky tabs to affix the screen to the monitor, and also sticky tabs with little clear non-sticky handles so that you can slide the filter out when you don't need it. I used the ones that allow for easy removal of the filter, since I do not need the privacy screen except for when I'm riding the bus. The filter does somewhat darken the screen to the user, and it also does the job of keeping your screen private from people sitting nearby. I like this product and would recommend it to others.

I searched in local stores for a privacy filter that would fit my LCD monitor at work. This search was unsuccessful so, I almost gave up on the idea of having my monitor filtered away from people leaning over my desk. I went to Amazon and found this 3M Privacy Filter PF17.0 for my 17in LCD Monitor. This was the best purchase for my office since there are no ground wires attached. Now everyone in the office is wanting a filter.

it doesn't really work. I mean, unless you're in a call center lined side by side. but if you're in an office setting, nope. doesn't work. I wanted to use this so people passing by wouldn't really see my screen. There are screens that can do this, but not this one!
while the filter is nice on the eyes, and the way it places on the screen beats those big clunky guys that hang on the monitor (plus it's subtle), I'd trade all this for it actually working!

First of all the product does not totally inhibit the ability of someone sitting next to you on an airplane seeing your screen, it just creates a more dark shadow of what's on your screen. Second, if your screen did not have a glare before it will now with this product. Third, there is a distracting notch at the top of the filter so you have this annoying thumb sized area and the filter does not cover. Do not waste you money on this 3M so-called privacy filter.

This product is really meant for laptop screens but 3M also recommends it for LCD monitors. I bought one for my LCD monitor because it was such a good value when compared to screens that are meant to hang on the monitor frame.
This essentially just a sheet that perfectly fits the screen. The downside are the tabs that you attach to the frame of your monitor to hold the sheet in place. They don't provide much support and if the monitor frame has a beveled edge like mine does they can be tricky to apply. The tabs are pretty small and non-obstructive.
If you don't need to ever remove the privacy screen after putting it up this will do the trick. If you have to take it on and off I can see those tabs becoming a pain and probably the glue will not hold for long.
The product does what it claims and will black out the screen if viewed from the side. Make sure it will work for your particular office set up. The best part is as long as I have brightness turned all the way up , it doesn't darken the screen tremendously when I view it from the front, and is much easier on the eyes than the type of filter that blurs the text.

I'd been looking for a privacy filter but everything I found was almost $200 for the same type of product. This isn't 100% effective (due to the angle of my desk), but it serves its purpose for where my desk is situated, plus you can't beat the price.
- Doesn't work unless you are next to monitor

The viewing field with this product in place is far too wide. You can stand 45 degrees from the monitor and still see the screen. You practically have to be standing at a 90 degree angle from the screen to have it blank out. Most LCD monitors are difficult to read from that angle anyways.
Returned mine.

This product is just what I needed. I use a 17 inch monitor and the pricacy screen fits like a glove. There are sticky tabs that come with the privacy screen sheet to hold it up against the monitor that might distract you from time to time but what the heck, just ignore them.

There is a very (VERY) limited area where screen is dark from onlookers. Wish I didn't buy this.

This product is too expensive for what it does. If your in front of the computer you can see every thing. You have to be on an angle for this probuct to work.
