  • A must-have pain reliever!!!

    By A3EKLO0WDCM01F on 2005-01-23
For the past year I've had fairly bad wrist pain from using computers. My first major in college was Web Design and it was pretty much required that I use a computer for about 14 hours a day! Aside from school and personal computer use, the job that I work at requires typing and using a computer as well, so using one is unavoidible for myself. I used to have one of those bean filled wrist rests. It did absolutely nothing, and it wound up being used to throw back and forth across the room between me and my roommate.

The Fellowes Gel Flex Wrist rest works better then a bean filled one because it is FIRM and stays firm! The bean filled ones sag after you have your wrist resting on it for long periods of time. The Fellowes wrist rest worked instantly when I first used it. Plus, it's pretty and fun to poke it because it's squishy. I highly reccommend it, and I definitely am going to pick up the keyboard rest!

  • Works perfectly.

    By A1NR59KNVO9QQY on 2006-06-25
My one concern -- that my wrist would get sweaty and stick to a "gel" wrist gaurd has been alleyed. The wrist guard does not get hot under my wrist, and does not stick. It is the perfect height and offers optimal support. (This revew seems a little intense for a five dollar wrist guard, but I do like it...)

  • Firm is good. Comfortable and works well

    By AHWXH8CA96IBX on 2005-08-03
As another reviewer pointed out, this is firm and stays firm.
Squishy might sound nice and comfortable, but firm is much better for ending and preventing pain.
At first I felt silly paying so much for such a thing.
After trying it, I feel much more silly for having waited to buy one.

  • Smells Terrible!

    By ADFT3WADYPRBI on 2006-04-27
This would be a GREAT product is the chemical smell was not so bad and last so long. It has a horrible smell that just will not go away. I saw others mention the same issue but thought I would give it a try. It smells.

Other than that, the comfort is great. But I gave it 2 weeks to air out and the smell will not go away. I would suggest you don't buy this is you have a sensitive nose. It kinda smells like those squishy foam beds and slippers you see at Brookstone.

  • Durable -- and it really saves my wrist

    By A23GFTVIETX7DS on 2008-08-01
I've owned the Fellowes Gel Flex Wrist Rest for three years now, and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. Because I spend hours in front of a computer, my whole arm, from wrist to shoulder, can ache without the proper support. Once I bought this gel pad, the wrist support alleviated the pain from my entire arm, probably because it immediately became more comfortable to rest my wrist. The feel is firm, with some give, and it curves wider near the top to accommodate the heel of the hand.

Initially, I feared that the silicon exterior would burst, making a mess; however, I've dropped the pad more times than I can count, and nothing has happened. I highly recommend this wrist rest for anyone who spends more than an hour a day at the computer. While it cannot reverse carpal tunnel damage, it can prevent it.

  • Not as soft as the foam type, but good
    By ANU1675O6DO5E on 2006-11-10
If you need firm support for your carpal tunnel this is perfect.

Its a very firm gel and it has gotten a little smoother with use. The foam looking gel ones are more to my liking, but the don't last as long.

  • Wonderfull, prevents and works.
    By AVX2UILNSSUOK on 2006-08-11
It worksfor me.. for my 10 - 15 hours a day. I have the orange version. This does not smell. Does not stick and stays cool with hot weather.

  • Not so soft...
    By A3UUQBM7UGCNAI on 2007-03-08
I purchased this product because I was developing a heel-of-the-hand callous from prolonged mousing. For this issue, it was not helpful, as it is too dense and did not redistribute the pressure enough. On a more positive note, it adheres passively to the desk, making it a good 'backstop' for the bead-bag type of wrist rest that I place on top of it. The combination has given excellent results (except for the ergo-bead bag occaisionally falling to the floor). The ideal product: a combination of the two!

  • Great!
    By A1GO3XOSMHKQZ8 on 2006-02-20
Great wrist support. My wrist was hurting from using a laptop, but this has helped prevent the pain.

  • Nice item
    By A38VON99E77ERK on 2006-02-27
This is a nice lil wrist support and the blue is unobtrusive. It kinda feels like a breast implant, though. And the shipping was outrageous. It's still a nice item and keeps my wrists from getting sore.

  • Nice and cool~
    By A1F4U5SADTNMAL on 2006-04-02
Bought this wrist rest because my right wrist was starting to hurt from surfing the internet. The gel is cooling, unlike the fabric ones that becomes warm after a while. The color is very soothing and is small enough to fit in my tiny workspace.
    Good buy for the money!

  • Expensive But Worth It
    By ABX7SEE84DMLU on 2007-02-28
This is the best wrist rest.

As wrist rests go, this wrist rest must exist as best.

It is billed as a "flex" wrist rest. As such, the reviewer must defer to the manufacturer's best judgment, because this wrist rest does list (in my case, it lists to the right). I do find that the odor emitted by the new wrist rest is not the best, but you do get used to it.

Should a user get used to the wrist rest smell, though, the user used to the best flex wrist rest's existing smell is rewarded.

So, to sum up, here we have the best right-listing flex wrist rest that exists.

  • Saved my wrist
    By A33J4UNRFWPSDH on 2007-04-01
I was having a lot of wrist pain when using the mouse. I got two of these (work and home) and they have resolved that problem entirely. They are comfortable and unobtrusive.

If there were any negatives for it, it would be that over time it seems to collect skin/dust, but it easy enough to wipe off.

  • hard as a rock
    By AUH9KPCAIL54Y on 2007-07-15
I purchased this item based on the reviews but I must say I'm disappointed. I condsider the gel very hard for its purpose. It does position my wrist correctly but the gel is so hard that my wrist still ends up hurting. I am going to switch to a bean bag type and see if that is better. Regarding the smell, I do smell it when I put it to my nose but not when it is being used correctly. I don't have a problem with any smell.

  • Gave me a wrist rash!
    By A102D4DMFTNNC4 on 2008-01-12
After a hefty round of home improvement, I started getting a lot of wrist pain at my IT job, so I put in with my manager for whatever ergonomic assistance could be had. A few days later, I came in and found this blue jellybean waiting for me at my desk. After a day, I found myself having to put a Post-it note on the pad to create a surface with less friction. Perhaps this pad works well for those who rest their hand on the mouse constantly, but it chafed me horribly. I have never had such problems with a wrist rest before and I do not understand why they couldn't have simply wrapped their firm wrist rest in a nylon sheathe. I would not buy this product and I would not recommend it to others.

  • Doesn't get much more comfortable for me!!
    By A2D0XSQL6BXEHS on 2006-01-30
This gel pad has performed great. Very comfortable and nice clear blue color. Exceptional!!

  • Awesome!!
    By A1FYQCFQUIZGRW on 2006-02-14
This is a must have if you have wrist problems. I was always on the computer almost all day and my doctor said I might develop wrist problems. I tried a bunch of different wrist rests but they were all too squishy and didn't help. Then I tried this one and my wrist has been getting better!! This is the best rest to get even if you don't have wrist problems.

  • Wrist saver!!
    By AT3QS9YCRALBS on 2006-02-24
If you work at a computer all day, pick this up with the keyboard wrist pad as well. Your wrists will thank you for it!

  • Saved my wrist.
    By AU6Y324WH9MM7 on 2006-08-01
I did a lot of digital "painting" with my mouse (before I could afford a tablet) and was destroying my wrist in the process. In the attempt to save myself some long-term pain, I invested in the $10 gel wrist protector and have not been disappointed. It isn't a cure all but is extremely, extremely benefical. I use the computer 10+ hours every day and would be in agony if I didn't use the wrist pad. It should come standard with a computer. I didn't encounter any smell with my purchase. Even putting my nose to it and sniffing, I can't smell anything. So if there was a smell originally, it's completely gone away now. (I've had it over a year though.) I definitely recommend anyone who is having pain in their wrist to try this product, and to consider investing in a Wacom or similar tablet, as it's a little less strenuous on the wrist.

  • Smells Awful
    By A1AHK84EEE17PT on 2006-10-04
The product works well and stayed firm, but the smell is horrible and will not go away. It smells like a solvent is leeching out. I was hoping it would go away, but after several weeks my office still smells like someone spilled a bottle of mineral spirits over those old vinyl capes from Star Wars figures.

  • Good product, but smelly
    By A3GDQ77BQAOJP9 on 2007-01-03
I use one of these at home and at work, and both of them make my wrists smell like some kind of plastic/chemical. It's not awful, but it's enough to bump the rating down from a solid 5 stars.

  • Worth the money.
    By A4B1E0WIGVMMQ on 2007-02-11
Someone else posted that this product had a strong nasty smell. I have to hold it to my nose in order to smell anything at all.

On to the review. It does what it is supposed to do and it does it with comfort. It provides firm support that's not too firm, while not getting in the way. Also, it stays put unlike many similar products. The grip the bottom surface provides is just right.

I am seriously thinking about buying a couple extra to keep on hand. It took me a while to find this product and I don't feel like starting that search again.

  • Not a bad product, however...
    By A27XCIXCRDPNUP on 2007-03-08
...it has a funky smell. I can't explain it. Can't tell if it was factory smell or the product itself. After a couple of days you don't notice...unless you decide to just pick it up and smell it, then you're probably smelling wrist grease....lol!

  • Wrist Rest not so Restful
    By A90JPYTB55BUV on 2007-03-13
This is a lovely feeling product and it seems as though it should make using a computer much more comfortable. I found my wrist hurt more when I use it, though I am not sure why. I offered it to my office mate who had the same response.

Maybe it has to do with how it is used.

  • not what you think.
    By AYBYVHB6HL4SN on 2007-08-29
when i purchased this item i thought that it'd bring me comfort in my long hours on the pc. i was worng.

1, it is not as soft as you'd expect
2, it gets in the way while playing games and using applications that require extensive mouse movement

i gave this item 2 stars only because i liked the color of the thing. apart from that it has nothing else that i think you'll like.

  • Very good
    By A210LSJ3DV6RGN on 2006-11-09
This is great and it's small enough where you can carry one around in a bag if you're at different locations. It really offers excellent support. My only zing is that the bottom doesn't really grip down to the desktop very well, so it tends to slide around a bit which can be annoying.

  • works perfect, NO SMELL
    By A27J7ABB9H2F23 on 2007-01-23
no "plastic" smell here! works great! comfortable, if a bit firm.

  • Just What I Needed
    By A17W7Y0M6H55NJ on 2007-02-06
I had seen this item elsewhere and did a search on amazon because I have always been happy with my purchases. This is no different. It is exactly what I expected and needed. It works perfectly and the pressure on my wrist from constant use of my mouse is almost completely gone and getting better daily. The product arrived earlier than promised. I am very pleased.

  • Great. Wrist has never felt better!
