Sandisk CF cards are mediocre By AI301J8LUWKBH on 2003-02-04
Although a good steal at this price, I would recommend against this card if you were in dire need of speed. This card scored very poorly in the ratings of other cards. I initially thought it would be good to get in on a cheap deal, since this card is cheaper than the other ones. However, since I got the item, I've noticed that it's slower than my other cards, much slower. According to dpreview.com, this card only shows a 14x read (2,085 KB/s) and a measly 6x write (855 KB/s)! If you have one of the newer cameras, like the canon powershot s230, I'd recommend against it! Also, if you had a dell axim or ipaq, you'll notice the speed difference immediately when you try to upload programs on to the card!Ok for people with like to wait, and people who just want storage not speed, but I'd pay the extra money just for the faster speeds offered by kingston, simpletech or viking. If you like sandisk, their ultra series are much better.
The one to Buy! Great Price/Performance By A119F4DX5T60DO on 2004-08-03
Hi Folks,
I own several of these and am a professional photographer.
Don't let technical discussions of how fast or slow the card is steer you away from this deal. Speeds are influenced by many factors and I have never encountered any problems. The Sandisk's price was lowered again recently, and I'll be buying another.
Works great! By A3S5AME3Q5SFDD on 2003-03-24
I use this with my new Canon PowerShot G3 and it seems to work great! No complaints and I can hold 500 pics at a time!
This card will not work in your Imagemate SDDR_75 reader By A4C5IDIPSEF7O on 2004-10-09
I bought a new sandisk 512mb CF and installed it in my Sandisk imagemate-SDDR-75 card reader and my card reader wipe put all my pictures and my card would not work after the imagemate SDDR-75 card reader installation. I ended puting it back in the camera and used the camera software to reformat it. I call Sandisk and they told me that;
Thanks for contacting SanDisk Technical Support. There is a compatibility issue with the SDDR-75 and the newer CF cards. We would normally offer an exchange for a reader that is compatible; however, your reader is no longer under warranty. We certainly apologize for any inconvenience. OUCH!
The following readers are compatible:SDDR-86- 6 in 1 reader SDDR-88- 8 in 1 reader SDDR-91- USB 2.0 CompactFlash reader
Only need one memory card for the entire vacation! By A1SCH9QMD7FJEV on 2004-11-02
I bought this for my Canon S410, set to take pictures at the highest setting. It can take hundreds of pictures even at that setting and I don't ever have to worry about running out of memory and needing another card. I tend to take maybe 50 pictures a day on vacation and it's good for an entire week!
- good solid card
     By A2PZJYHC2342W on 2006-01-16
I have had sandisk's card for about 4 years now and my 512 card is a workhorse for me. I have shot with it in Chicago cold and Dallas heat and it's been great, true you can get Sandisk's Ultra 512 for about 8 bucks more. But for my Canon G5 5MP camera, it's fast enough. I can shoot roughly 30-40 in burst mode on my best Jpeg mode.
The card holds 188 at my highest jpeg mode (2592w x1944h) the average computer screen (about 17") is roughly 1200 pixels wide so this is a large image.
If I had a DSLR camera I imagine I would get the Ultra cards but if you are worried you are not getting a fast enough card, match your camera. If you have a DSLR and are a pro, you want speed. But I have a mid-upper range consumer camera so this card is fine for general shooting.
A professional photographer I work with often once told me, It's like getting the most expensive racing tires and putting them on a Honda.
Cheers-

I bought this card for my IPAQ 3955. Besides having slow read and write speeds, the realiability of the card is bad. Half of the time I am only able to use 3/4 of the available memory and than get writing errors. Save yourself the time and agony and buy a better brand like Viking.
- Works Great

I am using this card for my new camera, Olympus C505Z. Holding around 460 pictures. Read and write speed are ok. No Complaints so far and I am happy with the card.
- It work pretty good
     By A196DQIXNI1Z2J on 2003-06-07
The upload speed is fast but not extremely fast. As you editing pictures at home, it is a kind of enjoying your hobby, you don't need to hurry up your photos editing.
- Defective Card
     By A2M67GGZC97CU3 on 2005-05-18
I had ordered a Cannon s500 a week before I went on vacation and after receiving the camera I decided I needed more than a 32 meg card for my trip. I read several reviews of cards on amazon and for the most part had the impression that Sandisk, though an off brand, made decent and reliable cards. Due to time constraints I purchased this model at a local Best Buy and left for a weekend of relaxation and enjoyment. My first night on vacation after taking a few pictures my camera gave me a weird Memory Error message. I couldn't change from capture mode to view mode to delete/format the memory card, in fact I couldn't even power the camera down. I had to remove the battery to get it to turn off. After messing with it for several minutes, removing the memory card and seeing how the camera functioned minus the card I realized the card was jacked and causing my camera to malfunction. Thus, I was unable to take pictures during my entire vacation. Needless to say, I WAS LIVID because I was on an island and there weren't any Best Buys around to return the card and get a new one. As a result, I felt I had to post here on this review section and say DO NOT BUY THIS COMPANY'S PRODUCTS! I'm now ordering a Kingston version of this card in hopes that a brand name will provided a better quality product.
- Great quality, lots of space!

Great quality card with lots of space to hold hundreds of high-res pictures!
- Broke and up the creek with no warranty...
     By A2IC5YNF109DXX on 2005-06-03
I bought one of these when I bought my Canon s70 less than two months ago. The card has rolled over and died on me. I went to the retailer and they said that the defect is a manufacturer issue. We went to the packaging for warranty details and there is NO warranty listed on the packaging other that it is warranted to work (fit) in compactflash cameras. The brand of card next to it on the shelf (Kodak) had a 5 year warranty for functionality.
Nextime is Kodak for me
- SanDisk 512 CF Card
     By A2U4107AK2O2GN on 2003-02-20
This is a great card. With the 50.00 USD mail in rebate, this card comes to less than a 100.00 USD. And it works great in the Kodak DC4800Z digital camera. This is not a fast card but it sure is realiable.
- Works with Muvo2
     By on 2004-05-18
Received this product today and put it into my Muvo2. Worked immediately. Great for those who want to have a 512mb mp3 player.
- seriously annoyed
     By A1056QTKWTOS6W on 2005-08-14
This card is on its way back to Amazon. I purchased it as it was one of the "recommended items" with the camera I also purchased, never mind that it doesn't work with the camera. I'm not hugely tech savvy--I (wrongly) assumed that any items recommended with the main item (a $500 camera) would be compatible. Check to make sure that any recommended accessories will actually achieve what you want them to.
- Works perfectly in my Canon PowerShot S1 IS - No Problem with Speed!
     By A1PR67REWNM84X on 2005-09-08
I don't know what anyone is talking about the speed of this card because I have noticed no difference at all. I use it in my Canon PowerShot S1 IS and I am having perfect results. With the low price - it's a "NO BRAINER!"
- Another Muvo2 user
     By A3IBANOZ5GRI3A on 2004-06-22
As other reviewers have said, this card works great in a Creative Muvo2 shell (which you can buy on eBay for around $40). Popped it in, formatted it, upgraded the firmware, and voila! A 512mb flash memory mp3 player for well under $100, given the rebate on this item.
- works in Muvo shell
     By AJZLFD2AP8XBC on 2004-05-26
My husband bought this, and it works great in a Creative Nomad Muvo2 shell (4gb MD removed) that we bought for $40 on eBay. For $100, it's a great deal for a 512 mb MP3 player!

I own a Canon S400, and between this card and my lexar high speed card, there is no noticable difference in speed. I would recommend this card for any general user with devices that use CF. A great price from a great media maker.
- Fine for consumer digicams
     By A2JFOHC9W629IE on 2005-03-12
This is a good card for virtually all Point and Shoot consumer digital cameras. If you are using a Digital SLR, then you need a faster card, say the Sandisk Ultra II. The write speed is a little slow, but that shouldn't be a problem for all but a few select digital cameras. For most people, 512M should be more than enough. Depending on your camera, you could get 300-400 pictures.
This is my first CF card, as I've used SD cards for a couple of years on another camera. I'm not wild about CF, but that's the format of my equipment. I think Sandisk cards are as good a brand as you can buy, but just know their limitations.
- Good memory
     By A3M1BNMWE8A633 on 2003-02-08
Simply put, this offers lots of reliable memory at a low cost. If you need memory like i did, get it now.
- Excellent price for the storage, but a little slow
     By A3C7071EZXNU2K on 2005-02-20
I upgraded to this card from a 128MB SanDisk card to use with my Canon Powershot G6. The card is definitely worth it for the money, but if you plan to use it long-term, I would suggest shelling out the extra dollars and going with the Ultra II model. When uploading images, there will be a noticeable difference in speed. If you're an amateur photographer just looking for extra storage, or a person who doesn't mind waiting a little longer in exchange for saving a bit of money, this card can definitely get you by.
- It works
     By A3KD9466FVSGMO on 2005-09-20
Inserted flash card into my camera, formated the card like it said in camera booklet,!and it worked!
- works great

I use the sandisk 512 as memory for a Fostex digital multitrack recorder. Even though the Fostex web site says it is not compatible with sandisk cards, it has worked perfectly.
- Not for all cameras
     By A1Q7CXP76I5469 on 2005-08-10
Maybe this is obvious to most Amazon customers, but not being "technically inclined" I read up on these and thought I was getting the right product to fit my new digital camera, but it arrived and I quickly realized it was too big and I had to return it. The return process, however, was quick and painless.
- sent wrong card

1 of Canon Powershot SD500 7MP Digital Elph Camera with 3x Optical Zoom by Canon [Electronics]--I purchased this =camera--was advised to purchase the above Card--(Card was recommended to go with the camera on Amazon website)--which I did--the card does not fit the SD500 camera--was a waste of money and time
- Still working great
     By A2Y08KFEHZO280 on 2006-01-15
Been using this card with my Canon S30 for about 8 months now and havn't had 1 issue. Brought it to Disney and fit over 350 3.1 megapixel images on it.
- 2 years and still running

I have used the same card for almost 2 years and it never failed. I would highly recommend this brand. Their pricing is also very good.
- Great Buy
     By A3RF4SYO4KEUYF on 2005-07-21
I had recently purchased a digital camera that came with 32 mg
Flash card. I could fit maybe 9 pictures on the card. With the cost of this item (much lower on Amazon than any where else especially where I bought the camera) I have not run out of space before I copied the pictures to my PC. I'll be purchasing another as a backup before my next trip.
