These kick! By A1NEHGPSBS57WC on 2004-04-14
First of all, just so you know, I am NOT an audiophile. I'm simply a person with a two-hour commute each way who likes to keep her ears busy with music and audiobooks. I recently purchased an Ipod, and, after getting tired of having the earbuds fall out, purchased these to replace those that came with the Ipod. I love them. Not being an audiophile, I would hesitate to rave about the sound, but I have had NO complaints with it whatsoever. The sound is loud enough, clear enough, and true enough, to come through richly and warmly even on a noisy bus. They don't tend to fall off (even if I fall asleep in them), and they take up no space in my already packed purse. I highly recommend these.
Great ear buds for those on the go. By A26R7LLAFTPC3U on 2004-08-17
First off, these are NOT the best headphones made. However if you like ear buds and are moving/walking/running/etc these are a GREAT pick. They sound decent for $12 headphones but they actually stay in your ears as you move and are fine for periods of longer wear. I personally have used 30-40 pairs of headphones under $60 and these are one of my favorites. I am listening to them right now while they sit next to my Bose and my Sony studio headphones. If you have too much bass, then adjust that in your device, its not a problem for me.
Got Hard To Fit Ears? Try These By A1KWEE7U8VOFG2 on 2005-03-03
Finally, something that stays in/on my ears. I have really small ear canals and have problems with in-ear buds (though the Sony Fontopia EX51s are OK if the cord doesn't get pulled), and I don't like the band style phones. These headphones are really comfortable and they stay put even when something tugs on the cord. They do take a little effort to get on, but they're worth it, and the wires are thin enough to work fine with glasses. If you work in these, that means you can comfortably use them with hats and safety glasses - nice.
The sound? Hmm, well, look at the price. I would say that these are comparable to the others in this range - not great, but acceptable. After all, I can't hear anything when the others pull out of my ears.
I bought 3 different models ... By A1Z7V48NCXRJX4 on 2005-10-15
Even after reading all the reviews, I wound up buying 3 different models ... Sony MDR-J10 Black, Sony MDR-J11g, and Koss KSC22.
Both Sony models are similar in sound, but the MDR-J11g has a better quality feel to it, and the plastic housing seems stronger. They both fit my ears good, and speaker fits into the ear canal and stays there no matter how much jumping around I do. I can't see these falling off during a jog.
However, the Koss seems a better choice out of the three. The sound is clearer and the earpiece has a foam cover which makes it comfortable when I'm wearing it for extended periods. Also, the metal clip is easily bendable so I can make it conform to my ear perfectly, and it won't fall off no matter what.
I tend to lean toward Sony products when purchasing electronics, and the Sony headphones have a nice, futuristic appearance. But I have to go with practicality, good sound, and comfort on this review ... so Koss is my favorite of the three.
Bass is nice By A39A18P13KJQU8 on 2002-11-21
I recently purchased these, and the first song i listened to was Boom from P.O.D. And all i have to say is that these pack a pretty powerful bass system for their small design. I have previous experience w/ Koss products and these are the best earphones theyve made for this low of a price. Buy these if you want something great for the price!!
- Terrible Sound - Great Comfort
     By A2V3KIUJR78LZD on 2004-01-09
These are perhaps some of the most comfortable fitting headphones on the market. That being said, don't buy them. They also happen to be some of the worst-sounding. Im not comparing them to expensive headphones - mostly my sony behind the head style, and my koss sportapro. These sound tin-y, midrange-y, and overblown. Oh, and I dont understand how the other reviewers are saying there's good bass, because I didn't find ANY.After reading the reviews, I thought that maybe I had bought a bum pair, so I returned them and bought another of the exact same type. Nope. Same thing. Terrible sound. The same terrible sound, so I know it's not a defect. How can Koss make such amazing under $20 headphones like the SportaPro's and the Earbuds, yet make such terrible headphones like these. I wonder if the QA department even took a listen to these. Such a disappointment cuz I REALLY love the style on these and the amazing comfort - especially for those with active lifestyles. Anyway - steer clear. Either that or you can Frankenstien them and glue some Earbuds on to the neat little clip. Good luck.
- A lot of bang for your buck
     By A3JSAORZL4UWZB on 2004-01-16
After spending mega-bucks on an new iPod, I lost the headphones that came with it. Bummer, but it did lead me to discover these little gems. First off, don't expect $70 sound out of these guys. If you are a true audiophile, spend the money to buy the headphones you really want or we'll all have to listen to your bitter bitching later. That said, I was impressed with the sound quality and the punch of the bass these headphones delivered for their low price. These are also the most comfortable earbuds I've ever tried on. The little clip slips over your ears to keep them steady while you're jogging, biking, or just bending over to tie your shoe. Conclusion? Comfort, acceptable sound quality, and super-sleek design all at a very acceptable price!
- Sturdy, but otherwise not that great
     By ANBJ6T65F2XN9 on 2006-06-30
I've been using these headphones for a few months at the gym.
Pros:
- They are sturdy and well-made.
- Sweat does not seem to bother them.
Cons:
- They don't fit well in my ears. I don't have a problem with most earbuds, so this is unusual. The buds are large and the earpieces don't give much support on me - they fall out easily.
- The earpieces are not adjustable.
- The sound is just not good when they're not in your ear canal. No bass at all, and the other frequencies are muddy.
Summary:
I would not recommend these for those looking for good sound. I would also not recommend these for people doing vigorous activity where they're likely to fall out.
- Good Buy
     By on 2003-02-22
I never cared much for earbuds as it was too much or a chore to keep them from falling out of my ears. The earclips work very well on these to keep them properly inserted and they feel very light. The sound is good although perhaps a little heavy on the bass. Thats probably what a lot of people are looking for though. Overall I like them and am happy with my purchase.
- A waste of money
     By A3HYKOUTH8K20W on 2004-05-27
I bought these to run with but I'm not able to get a snug fit. I've tried to bend them to fit but no luck. They keep falling off. As with all headphones of this type the sound is not very good. I've bought much cheeper headphones with sportclip which work for the purpose of running. These do not! Atleast not for me.
- Good for the price, but not a superb value
     By AQPL2UYGQ0JVX on 2004-04-30
I bought these to replace some Sony clipon headphones that died. For the price I got them at ($9.99), they work wonderfully. They are very comfortable, the foam is somewhat durable, unlike other brands, and they won't fall out of your ear like earbuds usually do. The clips are easily adjustable to fit however large your ear is. These headphones are also VERY portable with a small mp3 player. The red/silver combo looks very sharp and nice also. The sound quality is good for the price, but is not very good if you are a picky audiophile. The sound is quite tinny, and you end up pressing them very far into your ear if you really want to hear the bass. Volume doesn't go very high either before becoming indistinguishable. I've been using (and abusing) my set for about 6 months now with my Sony Discman CD player (on usually pretty high volume), and neither side has lost volume, the ear foam is still in good shape, and nothing is broken or physically or mechanically wrong with it. If you are looking for a true audio experience I would spend a little bit more and buy some better quality headphones, such as the Sony MDR-G72 collapsable behind the neck headphones. I give these about a 3 and 1/2 stars, but since that isn't an option I'll just round up to 4 stars. The amazon price of $12 is fairly competitive. Jared
- Pretty average headphones
     By A1G32APNCGMH16 on 2004-11-27
The sound quality of the headphones was quite clear and loud. I was using them for my iriver mp3 player. My main problem was they did not fit my ears well. When running they would frequently come out of my ears. The clip kept them on the ear, but you could not hear any music. I was never able to adjust the clip so it fit to the inside of my ear.
After about 1 year of use the left ear peice frayed out. They were a pretty good value for 1 year of use. I'm now buying headphones with a band, maybe they will fit better.
- Great for listening to music while active
     By A1KZRZ8AJU365Q on 2005-04-26
I just got back from a run with these, and all I can say is that they were WELL worth the 15 dollars or so I payed for them. These aren't going to be the greatest sound you'll ever hear in your life, but for on-the-go listening, it's pretty good. If you're looking for something with great sound just to sit around and listen to music, you may want to look elsewhere, but if you want something lightweight and will stay in place even if you turn your head or move a lot, get these. They don't really even go in your ear, so I was surprised with the volume they produced. Overall, a great product for the money.
- BIG but good
     By A15FNVI8ZYER06 on 2006-02-27
These Koss KSC22 headphones are a good deal for the money. I think they are a slight improvement in sound over my original Apple ipod earbuds. I bought them for my wife who prefers the earclip type. Problem is they are LARGE and barely fit in my ears much less her smaller ears. So they are now mine. The are very comfortable for long term listening. Isolation is minimal which is actually a plus for my use of them at work. They are NOT bass heavy, but for my background music levels at work, they are clean highs and pleasant sound. Good for the price.
- Beware if you have little ears
     By A1WD21KC6BNQQI on 2005-09-15
I bought these in the hopes of using them when I work out. For the most part, the sound seems fine, but if you have small ears - I do - then I would suggest finding a different pair of headphones. I have tried to bend the clips so that they'll stay on my ears, and it's not really that good. My husband, on the other hand, can wear these just fine without any manipulation whatsoever! (He has normal-sized ears.) He thought I just didn't know how to put them on - even after I was wearing them. Now he knows that it's because I have very small ears.
- Big, but all in all great
     By AO5E794E4DFBP on 2007-03-14
Well, I would have love to give this 5 stars, but can't. I am avg. weight active female with avg/little ears. I too like most active females looking for something to Finally fit in our avg/little ears that would ALSO STAY in place while we ran or worked out. Like most of y'all I searched many other/even tried others to just not find it right fit. I read all the reviews to this product before trying it out...I was a little unsure what I was getting. Well...the ear buds are Much bigger then I had hoped, they fit, but are big (if you are a man it might fit fine. However, the thing I really love about this although the ear buds are big is that it is very comfortable to wear-even after long hours. And they do stay in place, even when running. (And it comes in a very nice plastic case to keep from become too damaged). I know some feel the sound is not very well...I have not seen such to be a problem. I think the sound is fine, clear, and loud if I choose. So all in all I guess you just have to weight the pros and cons. If you asked me would I buy them again although they are big ear buds? I would.
I hope that helps.

Great headphones. Earbuds always fall out on me, and a lot of the clips are annoying in one way or another, whether it be they squeese to tight or are difficult to get on; but these are great, i can hardly notice them on, and the quality is pretty good. Unfortunately the right ear stopped working after about a year...and so did my friend's. Hmmm....odd. I think they are still good anyway.
- Worked great for me
     By ADR87C1AW147D on 2004-11-11
I have to wonder whether some of the people posting negative reviews are actually using these properly. It's a bit of a pain getting them inserted properly, what with one piece that has to go fully into the ear and another that goes over. If you just sort of hang them over your ear of course the sound quality is going to be awful, but if they're in properly the sound seems totally acceptable - comparable to either my AKG or Sennheiser earmuffs, for example. Are you going to be able to crank up the volume all the way and feel your teeth rattle? Of course not! At reasonable and even fairly high volumes, though, the fidelity including bass is just fine. These beat the stuffing out of the Sony EX51s I reviewed last, which truly were junk for twice the price.
- Great deal!
     By A23PVU2UTZKQSI on 2005-03-10
These are really quality eadbuds and are the only ones thar really stay in your ear through thick and through thin. They have a great sound quality and are small and compact while still being stylish. My only lament is that I could not find a pair in blue.
- Great comfort!
     By A28QBQLPAK81QR on 2006-03-01
We had 2 sets of these, but couldn't find any more in local stores. We stocked up with buying 3 more sets, just because the whole family fights over them. Best comfort and sound for price, along with being comfortable for jogging, exercising, or just relaxing.
- Not bad for price
     By A1ZCX9QYZTNMVG on 2004-08-22
These are good for price, and I have never found a problem with them coming out at gym when running on treadmill. I like the sounds, not bad when just listening the radio or TV (signal from gym) via my portable MP3 player.
I have had the foam earbud come off a couple of time (luckily could find it), other than that are great for the price and work perfect at gym
- Not good for working out
     By AO5WZBNJYKIKT on 2006-02-24
These headphones sound fine, fit comfortably, and seem well-made, but they have one major flaw: When I work out, I get sweaty. When the sweat drips into the headphones, the sound cuts in and out. This makes them worthless for exercising. If you are planning to use them for commuting or light exercise, you will probably be happy with them. They are terrible for rigorous exercise, however.
- Better Than Most
     By A17ZLLUYLS1YYO on 2004-12-24
these are very comfy, and the people who whine about sound, it only has problems if you turn your music up to like full blast, and leave it there for like six hours, but if you just keep it quiet for a couple minutes and only use it when you want to listen to music, then these are fine. People who listen all day, should buy headphones or shut up.
- Decent sound, poor fit
     By A2TJBRTHT78YYR on 2005-08-02
For cheap bud earphones, the sound is fine. I'm not expecting much, especially since I only use them for running. But, the buds themselves have this funky oval/diamond shape, and they constantly fall out of my ears, even after I spent a good deal of time adjusting the wire behind-the-ear holders. I'm a relatively big guy, so I assume I have big ears, but these things are even bigger than my ears.
- Great fit - poor Sound
     By A3PGRIMNNL5WKE on 2005-08-21
First of all, I'll give this one point for style. It looks good and has a very low profile so that others can't really tell you're wearing it without looking up close. Another point is that I got this for working out. It definitely stays in place and I use it often because other ear buds tend to fall out of my ear when jogging. This would stays perfectly in place. Another point I'll give because it's easy to slip into your ear. Other buds that clip around your ear usually take both hands to get it adjusted just right. This one I have no problem wrapping it around my ear with only one hand and a quick turn of the wrist. The only issue is the sound which is poor. Koss is a great brand that makes nice headphones but these sound lame. The bass is too low and drowns out any highs. Very little fidelity compared to other ear buds I've gotten as stock headphones with MP3 players from Sony or Creative Labs. I usually learn Spanish when I workout so it serves its purposes of staying in place and there is no need for rich sound. If you want headphones that are comfortable and will stay in your ear during heavy activity, these do the job. If you're looking for sound quality, definitely go somewhere else.
- 2.5 out of 5
     By A1D5HLEQD8J0MI on 2005-08-22
I would have to agree with the reviews stating the awkward design of the actual earbud of these. They just do not stay secure no matter how you try to "bend" the wire that wraps around your ear. You can shove them in if you try hard enough however you better not twitch a muscle cause when you do they will fall out. If you press the phones to your ear and hold them they sound relatively good. Pretty good highs and mids and decent if a bit muddy lows. If the phones actually stayed in I would give these a 4 of five for their price range.
- Too fragile for jogging.
     By A34LAWZTV3PIF8 on 2007-07-21
My wife and I have had ours for several months. They sounded good when they were working, however the gauge of wire that they use is too flimsy to handle the bouncing around of jogging. Eventually one of the wires would develop a break up near the connector. We had two pairs, they both did not last.
- Best In (and Out) of Class
     By AUKY4Q0DJEI5T on 2008-03-13
I've gone through about a dozen different pairs of clip-on earphones as part of a frustrating journey to find something adequate for use during workouts, not the Holy Grail of audio earware, just something functional.
That quest came to an end with the KSC22. Compared to the others, including high-end ($50) models, the KSC22 provides the best combination of:
- Staying securely in place: I can't shake them off even by trying to, and unlike others, these stay IN my ears, not just ON them, thus minimizing loss of sound / volume.
- Comfort: no pain on ears or head.
- Lightweight: barely notice wearing them.
- Cost: on the low end, not at all indicative of their quality.
- Sound quality: I honestly couldn't tell the difference between these and high-end units, and not concerned about it, anyway. I wonder about those who expect "audiophile" quality sound when they're exercising or outside ie amidst lots of background noise.
I wrote to Koss to plead that they never discontinue this item - I purchased two extra pairs "just in case" :-)
- Good stuff
     By A9ETM05KN9IBT on 2006-01-29
These earphones are "so far so good". It took a little manual adjustment on the wire ear pieces but they now fit pretty well. I am impressed that the earphones dont go dead after a heavy sweat soaking.
- They're alright
     By AIDWBEG7IEQF3 on 2006-02-25
They are ok headphones for the money. The sound isn't all that great, and they didn't fit in my ears, but for $10, they're pretty good.
