Best Price: $94.88

The First Misting Fan for Homeowners, Contractors, Light Industry and Sports Teams that Affordably and Dramatically Reduces the Surrounding Temperatures. Fan is adjustable to 56 inch height. The high Velocity 3 Speed shower proof Motor produces 40,000 BTU's Of Cooling Power. Features a 6 foot Hose Connection that easily connects to a standard hose or spigot.

This WindChaser fan takes breezy cool-down to a new level by adding water to the mix. Perfect for hot, dry climates, the fan combines an extra-powerful shower-proof motor with simple operation. Just hook it to a standard 3/4-inch garden hose, turn it on, and sit back. The fan features aerodynamic blades and four misting nozzles angled out from the center panel to direct water into the air path. Capable of cooling outdoor temperature a full 25 degrees F, the fan also cuts down on dust and discourages flying insects. The fan's power panel is straightforward, with covered switches and three separate speeds. The unit can also be used indoors or without the misting function, and a simple pull-button in back stops the oscillating. All of the fan's components are resistant to UV rays and rust, and the three-pronged power cord is structured for safety. The fan head measures 16 inches in diameter and the diameter of the base is 20 inches. The unit is adjustable from 47 inches to 58 inches high. It is UL listed for indoor and outdoor use and comes with four replacement nozzles. --Emily Bedard MPN: WC161 - UPC: 662571001802

  • Nice wet fan, but unreliable

    By A1T6J7QD2DZV0O on 2004-11-04
I actually bought this from a B&M that has a one year return policy. Good thing, because my first two units only lasted about six weeks each. The motor in the first unit died. The water line in the second unit cracked.

I am, however, getting a third one, as I don't mind continually replacing the fan because it is cheap and fulfills my needs. One thing it is NOT is a light misting humidifier you'll find at fine resorts. I looked into that option, and those things cost a lot of money as a high pressure pump is required.

Much of the mist does not evaporate before or as it hits the ground. This will get the ground and objects in front of it damp. If you're farther away, you'll get the finer mist. But if it's 90 degrees and I'm outside, I don't really mind getting a little damp - I'd sweat at least that much anyway.

  • A life saver.

    By AKFR7R8KBBKZD on 2005-05-25
I actually bought two of these fans last summer to use by our backyard pool, and have to say that it is a must have equipment on hot summer days. With temperatures often hovering between 105 and 115 degrees during the dry summer months in Vegas, it's too hot to stay out even with a swimming pool; however, with two of these fans going, it definately makes it bearable.

The fans are durable. Both were left outside throughout the winter, exposed to record rain, sun and got knocked down a few times, but when plugged in again, worked as usual. Highly recommended.

  • Long ship time not worth the wait

    By on 2003-07-22
After waiting for over a month to receive the fan, found it had been repackaged and was missing parts (most likely the reason it was returned). Package came unsealed, obviously it had been previously opened and repackaged. Had to rig a screw to hold the fan to the base. Once connected, works fine, though drips constantly, not sure why yet.

  • Great Concept, Poor Execution

    By on 2004-07-20
I looked at this and thought "What a great idea!". I ordered it, got it, put it together, turned it on, and realized that what I had was a very wet fan or a very bad lawn sprinkler. Bottom line - your municipal water pressure will not work to atomize the water enough so it is mostly evaporated by the time it hits you. You will get soaked if you stand too close, and the cooling is ineffective if you stand too far away. I can see you liking this if you want to cool the kids down while they play outside (and don't care about them getting wet) or if you are working on outdoor projects(and don't care about you getting wet). But for an evening of sitting around the patio with friends - it just isn't effective, and is just annoying.

  • Outdoor BBQ for 80 on 95 degree day

    By A2IL4VY0NFAMJV on 2004-09-20
I hosted an outdoor BBQ for 80+ people on a 95 degree day. I ordered this fan 2 days prior for overnight del'y. It arrived on time and saved the day. The caterers said the fan was a lifesaver for them and it was very refreshing for the guests as well. Very easy to assemble.

  • Exactly what I expected
    By A193HZZVMNTD17 on 2005-09-20
I experienced the Windchaser misting fan at a local pool club before I bought it and decided it would be an easy to use, affordable option to cool my patio. This is a small patio (maybe 11' X 16') sheltered by a fence and the side of my house, but with a cement floor which helps to trap heat.

The Windchaser distributes the mist evenly. As the fan oscillates you are touched by the cooling water. After a period of time the air in the whole area is cooled. The closer you are to the fan more mist will cover you; even wet you.

An other review complained about large drops of mist. Yeah, this does not produce a blanket of fog, nor is it as nifty as those misting systems used in the Southwest. But you get what you pay for. The Windchaser performed exactly as I expected and I am very happy with it.

I would prefer a stronger fan to push the spray a little farther especially when the wind is blowing in the wrong direction. But when that happens I position the fan to blow with the wind -- what a concept.

If your expectations are reasonable (this is a FAN pushing spray from a garden hose), then you won't be disapointed. If you're looking for a Vegas style misting system keep looking.

  • Refreshing on a hot day
    By A2NS6LKVF0HUFO on 2007-07-03
I originally bought this misting fan a few years ago when I was having surgery in July and knew I wouldn't be able to go in our pool for a while. I wasn't looking forward to sitting outside sweltering watching everyone else swim, so I could at least sit in the mist and keep cool. Worked like charm.

Last summer hired a contractor to do some outdoor projects and I set this fan up for them, as it was an extended heat spell. The guys loved it.

How wet you get when sitting in front of it depends on how close you sit and how high you have the fan set for. It can vary from barely noticeable to pretty wet. I would advise not setting it up right next to a table with paper products on it. They will get soaked as time goes by.

  • A must for hot dry climates!
    By on 2004-06-19
This is a terrific product! Living in the Sacramento area, we have many 90 degree days in the summer. With this fan and sitting in the shade you can stay outside forever. The fan is a durable plastic and very sturdy so I don't worry about it when the winds start blowing. It has three speeds and you can operate it as a regular fan or as a mister or both. It swivels or you can make it stationary. My fan came quickly and was very easy to assemble. It is also very easy to unattach the garden hose if you need it for watering the plants, too. I wish I would have bought this product years ago - I would have spent many more days outside!

  • Beat my expectations
    By A1S3V0TEANCKYH on 2006-06-29
I bought the fan and had some reservations due to some sketchy reviews. But this product is wonderful and now many of my neighbors and family ask where I bought this from. I have an outdoor double tiered deck that leads to a pool. While the kids are cool on the upper deck from the pool, us lower deck folk have a temperature of about 10 degrees less plus the benefit of a cool fan running. This product is exactly what I was looking for and is great.

  • Good buy
    By on 2004-06-06
I bought this for my dog kennel area. It works great and keeps their area cooler. I feel more comfortable leaving them alone on the hot days because I know the fan is cooling them off.

  • Cool by the Pool!!
    By AJORZMP0THUGA on 2005-07-28
I orginally bought this fan/mister to help deter the mosquitos! That did'nt work but it sure is nice to have in the heat. My only complaints are that the "low" setting is what I would consider "high" because you can set the fan 15' away and it's almost too much. The other complaint, the actual fan head does not adjust easily. I would really like to have the fan stand taller and the head more adjustable (up and down). Right now you are cooled from the waist down. I actually don't use the mister too much. It does not seem to blow far enough to cover your entire body if you're laying down on a chaise.

  • Chillin' out in Nawlins with the Windchaser!
    By AL5ELUSYF9PKP on 2006-04-22
I got this yesterday, assembly was a snap and immediately started to enjoy this product. Summer temps here in LA are sizzling, so this will be the perfect ammunition for us as we enjoy our pool. As a matter of fact, I am going to order another one to place by our patio set once we get that set up!

  • Beats the Heat!
    By AM0N6GUQDQAPA on 2005-09-16
Living in SW FL in August is amazingly hot. We have an outdoor sports bar by our pool and this fan helps make the heat tolerable during entertaining. One hint: the directions do not tell you...be sure the water pressure is HIGH...otherwise the mist is too wet and is uncomfortable. The high pressure helps atomize the mist so it doesn't make everything damp & soggy. We found this out after trying different pressures. We do love it now and use it daily!

  • Cooling
    By A1Z9LD2XLQBADP on 2005-10-02
Easy assembly, screwdriver required, connections very simple. Provides adequate cooling for a smaller area but very effective. Only real downfall is no way to shut off water on the unit itself.

  • A really big white plastic fan
    By A3HROZB70BPNXH on 2006-07-19
I'm glad I read the all the reviews. Thanks to the person who suggested cranking the water pressure full throttle to get the misters to atomize better. It actually works -- but watch out if the end thread breaks apart from the force. It's easily corrected by rethreading the mister tube and making sure that it locks into place with the thread that attaches to the hose.

Not a strong fan and gee -- it's awfully white. Still trying to figure out where to place it on the deck so that it's not an eyesore.

But not bad for the price. And of course -- after I buy this -- I now see that Holmes makes a nicer looking mister fan with a cover. Isn't that the way.

  • Problem with customer service
    By AEQPQPBG1DW43 on 2006-08-23
I cannot really give a review of this product. The reason for this is that the fan came damaged. We called the WindChaser phone and the person there advised us to send an e mail describing our problem with phone, upc etc. I did this and received a contact back that they had received my e mail and not to reply but they would get back to us within 48 hrs. After 4 days, we still did not hear, so I sent another e mail, received the same reply and to this date have still not heard. We can use the fan but it does not move from side to side. That is why I really cannot give you a review. If you really wanted one, I would say that WindChaser does not stand by its product. Thanks
Cathy Conroy ( this product was shipped to Tom Mazza )

  • Absolutely Wonderful

I'm outside a lot and living in Phoenix, AZ I would never make it without this fan. I have told all my friends about the fan and now they want it too.

  • Windchaser fan
    By A1S1FW04S8DJYO on 2005-08-17
This was a disappointment. All plastic construction, plastic fan blade. I wanted this more as an outdoor fan for non-misting purposes. Fan output was weak. I returned the windchaser and purchased the Holmes outdoor fan, much more attractive on the deck, fan output tremendous, all metal construction, metal blade, less expensive.

  • Good performance for the price
    By AJ6FEQ7B252C8 on 2005-08-26
Very effective during a mid-90's, high humidity week in New England. Cooled our patio during dinner (24'x24') and also a significant portion of our garden while weeding (12'x40').

It feels as though the temp drops about 10-15 degrees and you don't get wet from the mister. At worst, due to the high humidity anyway, you may end up with a light mist on your arm hair, etc. Also very good at keeping mosquitos away. It's NOT a commercial cooling fan by any means, but it's very good for $80 or so!

  • Keeping the Southern air moving
    By A1JS8C4XTHJWMN on 2005-09-29
The fan works great by keeping the southern air moving on a hot
humid day, it's always a cool one, and on the hot dry days the misting is a must. it makes the wife happy.

  • cool comfort
    By A15NYNYHCWKL8P on 2006-07-08
i have purchased this fan twice now,i have it at 2 different homes,1 in michigan and 1 in arizona, fan works very well in michigan, and in phoenix,it's a lifesaver for sitting outside.the fan is what it is an inexpensive cool mist, the only drawback i have noticed is,when the fan is oscillating, the head drops down too easily and doesn't stay up in place very well, all in all i'm happy with it and recommend it for fast cool wet air.

  • WindChase Outdoor Misting Fan
    By A1661CUVWRTHDO on 2006-08-18
A little difficult to understand the assembly instructions. The fan performs as described. There is a noticeable difference in your comfort level when the temperature is 90+! Only complaint is that a steady stream of water drips from the fan, creating a large puddle around the fan. Will take the fan apart to see if there is a loose hose connection inside. Other than that this is a great product and recommend it highly.

  • Problem Solved
    By A1MQ1AM66USI81 on 2006-10-29
I have only had a chance to use this fan one time, but it certainly solved my problem. We have several heat waves with temps over 100 degrees. The misting really made a difference.

  • Execellent Purchase for Cooling Off on Deck
    By A1EV32N64G241R on 2006-11-03
This fan is perfect for cooling off on hot days in the summer. The mister works well. I really like this product.

  • For the money I pay, shouldn't be any complain
    By A2YMD3B1DTC138 on 2006-06-26
The find some how spraying too much water. I get wet when I stay too close for a short period. I think the holes for ths spraying noddle should be smaller. As I said, for that amount of money I pay, I shouldn't have any complain.

  • misting fan review
    By AW84ZO0ZVLY6L on 2006-07-20
This would be an excellent product but after 1 use one of the misting nozzles clogged, and also where the garden hose connects to the fan this has come undone after one use as well.

  • WindChaser Mist Fan
    By A2B4UVWBWKBOZW on 2006-08-27
WincChaser Mist Fan is the greatest. It is more than just a fan. Being on the outside during the hot dog days of August the fan not only creates a flow of air but also it creates a cool mist allowing comfort while out side. It is a necessity for gardening and for entertainment at parties.

  • Windchaser Fan
    By A28IW15K59ISS5 on 2005-08-19
My fan arrived missing a screen for the hose. I called and e-mailed the company. They e-mailed me that they didn't have a screen to send me. Disappointed, but it does mist ok and works, am hoping to get a hose screen from the hardware store before the fan clogs up.

  • Fairly good product for money paid.

Fairly good product for money paid. Hose connecting to the water supply must be taped to the post.

Even in a higher humidity the mist works to cool you on the hot summer afternoons.
