One Heartx$3.00
    (320 reviews)
Best Price: $3.00
International edition of her 2003 album features two bonus tracks, 'Forget Me Not' and 'I Know What Love Is'. 14 tracks in all including the hit single, 'I Drove All Night'. Sony.
To call Celine Dion predictable would be too easy--other divas should be so lucky to still be walking her platinum path. As Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey struggle to update their sounds without losing their core following, Celine keeps on delivering power ballads and inspirational pop without ever losing her footing. What sets One Heart apart from her previous chart-toppers is an unrelenting theme of joy and believing in one's self. From the car-commercial-driven tempo of "I Drove All Night" (Dion's equivalent to Cher's "Believe") to the "power of one" message in "Love is All We Need," the album bristles with an upbeat mood that--even for non-fans--can be hard to resist (it's important to note that there is no chest-thumping heartbreak here). Small concessions to staying in step with pop trends appear on the dance-floor tracks (which bring to mind Shania Twain and even Britney Spears), but ballads like "In His Touch" and "Have You Ever Been in Love" stick to the tried-and-true formula of allowing Dion's impressive voice to take center stage. As she settles in for an extended stay at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, One Heart is both well timed and well executed. It contains no surprises, but then, besides her voice, that's one of Dion's biggest assets. --Rebecca Wallwork

A Great New Direction for Our Vocal Queen By A3O8YT41TDXL0B on 2003-03-26
This is her most fresh-sounding album ever. While different from the direction her albums usually take, as a dedicated fan for the past few years I was not dissapointed by this CD at all.
"One Heart," the title track, is an astonishingly fresh, excellent piece of ear candy, and the only instantly addictive song on the album besides the initial Top 50 single "I Drove All Night." However, the majority of the recordings soon catch on, such as other essential listenings like "Love Is All We Need," "Faith," the sensual "In His Touch" and the stately "I Know What Love Is." There is such a great variety here. Celine is really broadening her horizons. Until now, her most musically diverse English album was "Unison," her 1990 English debut that had her doing her signature ballads mixed with techno, 80's tinged dance-pop, and even hints of country.
The odd thing about this album is that has a more rock feel than most of Celine's past recordings. The power ballads like "The Power of Love" or "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" are left to gather dust on the recording studio floor as Celine has chosen to put together a more stark recording this time around. Some fans will definitely feel a little disheartened upon listening to "One Heart," but after a few listens they will probably appreciate Celine's new direction rather be unnerved it, just like myself, the typical Celine fan and follower.
All in all, this is definitely an unusual recording for Celine, but it is an excellent departure from what we have been, at times overly, accustomed to expecting from her. One thing I know: This album will continue to grow on me. I look forward to the experience.
A Bold New Sound for the Best Selling Female Of All Time By on 2003-03-25
In the 14 track 'One Heart', Celine offers 12 all new tracks PLUS 'Have You Ever Been In Love', and an all new version of 'Sorry For Love'. The new tracks lay new ground for Celine, offering a low key and much more emotional look into her. Songs like 'Reveal' and 'Naked' are offered for Celine's more mature fans and 'Forget Me Not' is an offering for all those beloved mothers out there. 'In His Touch' and 'I Know What Love Is' will surely satisfy fans who want to hear Celine's staple Ballads and 'Love Is All We Need' is a great dance track reminiscent of some of Prince's work. 'Je T'aime Encore' is a beautiful ENGLISH track unlike any Celine has ever done. In my opinion, the most amazing song on the CD would have to be 'Stand By Your Side' as Celine shows more restraint and emotion than ever before. All in all, 'One Heart' fits easily in most music fans collection, even those who aren't Celine Fans. COMPLETE tackslisting :1. Drove All Night 2. Love Is All We Need 3. Faith 4. In His Touch 5. One Heart 6. Stand By Your Side 7. Naked 8. Sorry For Love (2003 Version) 9. Have You Ever Beeen In Love 10. Reveal 11. Coulda Woulda Shoulda 12. Forget Me Not 13. I Know What Love Is 14. Je T'aime Encore
Diva Dion Does Double Duty!! By A1LCCW8M6F5TJU on 2003-03-26
As music diva Celine Dion marks her Las Vegas debut at Caesar's Palace, she hits a career milestone with her second album after "coming back" from a two-year hiatus. This album is good, but a little weaker than her "come-back" album, "A New Day Has Come." The most prominent songs on the album include the recent single, "I Drove All Night," with it's heavy, up-tempo sound. Celine branches into a younger genre with Britney Spears' sounding "Love is All We Need," which certainly appeals to a younger generation with sound, but adults with the mature lyrics. The more risque, "Naked," is certainly a song to share with your spouse, but you might want to cover the ears of your children as Dion examines the steamy romance between a couple. In addition to this steamy song, "In His Touch" reveals how a man loves a woman not with words, but "in his touch." Other great songs include "Faith," "Stand by Your Side." And as always, the diva couldn't do the album without a strong and moving love ballad, "Forget Me Not," which is beautifully recorded and orchestrated well. The only somewhat disappointments with the album include the addition of "Have You Ever Been in Love," which was also included on "A New Day Has Come." For some reason either Dion or the record company felt a need to add the song again. However, the encore presentation should have been replaced with the song, "All Because of You," which was generously released on a DVD promo in the re-release of "A New Day Has Come" earlier this year. "All Because of You," can only be heard by playing the CD in your DVD player. It's obvious ommission from this album was a disappointment, especially since the other single on the "New Day Has Come" DVD, "Coulda Woulda Shoulda" is on the new album. In addition, a remake of "Sorry for Love," is included in One Heart's track list with a much slower version. It could have easily been left off as well, as it doesn't do justice to the upbeat version on A New Day... The album is not quite as good as "A New Day Has Come," but it will definitely be a fan favorite and a great compliment to Dion's Vegas show. The album is definitely worth the purchase, but don't expect it to outdo its 2002 predecessor.
Good, but not good enough By A3M5C5JFRRNIGS on 2003-04-03
I must admit I was very excited to get this album...I bought it the day it came out. The first track, "I Drove All Night," is very good. The second track, "Love Is All We Need" was amazing and I knew it could be an amazing club hit (after some remixing). However, from then on, it goes downhill quickly. Celine's voice is amazing, but these songs are just "blah" or predictable for her. There are the standard ballads which are good as always, but quite frankly, we all expected ballads. It is the mid-tempo songs that are just weird. For example, "Coulda Woulda Shoulda" is nothing but pop fluff with that same old message to seize the day before love is gone. How profound. And "Forget Me Not" has no real traceable melody with which to sing along. I skip over it every time I listen to the CD. In fact, I skip most of the songs on the CD. Worth listening to are tracks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 13. Skip the rest. And, to close this painful review of an artist I truly do adore, is the [wrong] tactic of re-releasing 2 songs from her prior album "A New Day Has Come." First off, this is [wrong]. Second of all, "Sorry for Love" was an amazing dance-song and it was a sad state of affairs to see how it become mangled when put through the ballad-transformation machine. In closing, this album should have been titled "A Sad Day Has Come." Better luck next time Celine.
CELINES ONE HEART IS JUST ONE MEDIOCRE ALBUM. By A1UH3S1GVFSMFH on 2003-04-22
Celine just keeps spewing out albums. Didn't she just come out with "A New Day Has Come"?....of course it had disappoint sales of a dismal 2 million copies, that is very low by Celines standards, and she only had one mediocre hit "A New Day Has Come" single which barely peaked into the Top 40.Now we have "One Heart" with the remake of "I Drove All Night", which is absolutely the worst remake ever. Cyndi Laupers version is simply the best. Celine just belts out the same voice, with some dance production, and the video is one of the cheapest music videos I have seen in awhile. I guess Celines label is cutting back. The single didn't even bust into the Billboards Top 50 of 100 on the Singles Chart, at least Lauper made it to Top 10 (her last Hit Single). The rest of the album sounds like Celine is just going through the motions. I guess that multi million Vegas contract has made Dion lazy at best in the album department. No songs to recommend here. I give her 2 stars because she is Celine...but she definitely is NOT "The greatest singer in the world". I think Celine has sold out to extremes, her public has showed that in record sales - "One Heart" debuted at No.2 selling in its first weeks a dismal 300,000 copies. Celine Dion why don't you retire....or did you? and then came back?...Didn't you want to just be a mother?, or is the Nanny the mother?... I am so confused. Who cares...Celine has made herself a musical joke, and she is laughing all the way to the bank.....Can someone let me borrow [money amount]so I can see Celine in concert in the Balcony backrow seats...it is all I can afford....To see the greatest singer in the world.

.. that I gave a Celine Dion CD 3 stars. But it's just "OK".While I like the songs "One Heart" and "Love is All We Need" the rest of the album (especially the two songs that were carried over from her last album - huh!?) just seems like filler. I realize that she may have gotten typecast for the massive ballads and heart-thumping, but those types of songs and performances are what distinguished her from other singers. I hate to pull a Simon here, but I really felt a major "So what?" after finishing listening to this CD. I love her voice, and always will, but I hope she gets back on track with her next project and realizes that unlike the flashy lights and cheesy production values of the typical show in Vegas, she is capable of and owes her fans more. Oh, and the Chrysler logo INSIDE the CD? Makes it look like this CD should have been a gift with purchase of a mini-van. Did she really NEED more money?
- Definitely one of the best albums i've heard
     By on 2006-01-20
Celine Dion is just awesome! Despite being in her early 40s, Celine can really sing! Though she's not really into disco (a la Madonna), the albums she's churned out are all great efforts. Say 'A New Day Has Come' for example, it had 17 tracks and really stood out, though i admit the album isn't as good as 'One Heart', this album i'm reviewing right now!
'One Heart' has really heartbreaking songs, ballads, pop hits, and smooth songs that one can just groove to. Of course, Dion talks more about love in '1 Heart', but that doesn't cream up the whole 14-track CD.
1. I Drove All Night (10/10) An awesome opening track! Also a great Dixie Chicks' 1989 cover!
2. Love Is All We Need (8/10) It's a cool, springy pop song, but i don't really like Celine Dion doing Britney!
3. Faith (10/10) A happy ballad!
4. In His Touch (10/10) A touching, soothing ballad about love. Really awesome!
5. One Heart (9/10) Not as good as the other songs, but a really good title track! It's a happy song that anyone can sing to.
6. Stand By Your Side (9.5/10) This song is more on the happy note.
7. Naked (10/10) It starts off promisingly, and though it's a little bit awkward with the lyrics, this song is truly great!
8. Sorry For Love 2003 (8/10) It's hard to choose between the pop version from 'A New Day Has Come', but I really don't like 'Sorry4Love' sung in a more ballad-like tone.
9. Have You Ever Been In Love (8.5/10) Another track taken from 'A New Day Has Come'. It's an ok ballad.
10. Reveal (10/10) Definitely one of the best songs on this album! Very creative melodies, and awkward but rauchy lyrics.
11. Coulda Woulda Shoulda (9/10) More of a song to groove to when your feeling calm and happy on the roads.
12. Forget Me Not (10/10) Though it's less catchy than other songs, it still deserves a full score.
13. I Know What Love Is (10/10) An awesome ballad!
14. Je T'aime Encore (10/10) A great way to end the album, though it's not the best song on the album.
This is truly one of the best albums i've heard. 4 stars!
- The Celine I Remember
     By A1SCJWCMQ3W3KK on 2003-04-03
I was sadly disappointed in Celine Dion's last release and feared a great singer had headed in a bad direction, but her latest album, "One Heart", has ended my fears. This is the Celine I remember - making albums full of great songs sung with passion. The album is upbeat, with happy, catchy tunes that you will find yourself easily singing along to. Nearly every song here is single material that would be a major hit for almost any artist - a feat which is not new for Celine. While every track is amazing, there are some that simply deserve recognition: 'I Drove All Night': The first single from this album is catchy, with a driving beat and memorable refrain. The story of longing, it's the sound that Celine was shooting for on her last album (a dance song performed with emotion) but failed to get. 'Faith': This is probably my favorite song on the album, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it turn into a radio smash hit. The song is about wanting people to have faith in you, despite your shortcomings. It's something that we all can relate to, and, with a brilliant tune, it will have you singing along. 'One Heart': The title track to Celine's latest is a great testament to the power of the human will. Everyone has been through rough times, but the song offers encouragement to all those who are caught in personal ruts. An upbeat tune about personal strength, combined with a catchy melody, are what make 'One Heart' a great track. 'Naked': This is yet another great track, with an emotional vulnerablity shining through in Celine's vocals. A song full of anxiety, excitement, and honesty, it's a refreshing look at a long-time love. In "One Heart", Celine has captured what we knew she was capable of all along - singing upbeat tunes with emotion and tenderness, honesty and passion. A few of the tracks on her last album came close, but none of her previous material has been this daring, this refreshing, and this successful. It's the Celine I remember - the Celine that we all knew she could be.

     By A1ZQN995X5DGZ6 on 2003-04-15
To be honest. I am a big fan of Celine Dion. QUite disappointed with her newest album, One Heart.. which is way beyond my expectation after her fantastic album (New day has come). The beat or the music was so boring.. it doesn't come along with her voice.. and her voice was not too great in this CD in the concept of her voice potential she has. Only 2 songs I like from her album. It's not so creative album, and having 2 old songs from her old album made me think that Celine was not really ready to issue a new album, which is understanding for the time distance between her previous album and this album. Barbary Streisand album is way better than her newest album.
- Will not buy her CD~~~~~
     By on 2003-03-25
I must admit, I detest Celine Dion, I have never cared for her voice. I think she's the most overrated singer on earth. I hate the way she must always have the spotlight - the wedding/circus in Vegas, the magazine covers with baby, the television commercials and specials, the billion $ house with monitors everywhere, a helicopter pad (unreal), nannies, housekeepers, cooks, a BUTLER!! - all this even after claiming that she was retiring. I think that she's materialist and narcissistic. So my score for her CD is a big zero. Tho I was forced to put some score there, I still give her a zero.
- Celine returns to pop!
     By A1KY326XJFWEK3 on 2003-03-28
I like One Heart better than last year's A New Day Has Come. One Heart has a better mix of uptempo pop songs whereas last year's ANDHC was very adult contemporary. Here are some highlights: I Drove All Night - this is an update of Cyndi Lauper's cover which sounds great. The music has an almost dance club feel and Celine sounds great. Love is All We Need - this one is very Briteny-esqu, no wonder since it's produced by Max Martin (who produced for Britney, Backstreet Boys, and Nsync when they started) One Heart - I like this one, it's an uplifting and fun pop song Naked - a midtempo number, it's got a romantic/sexy vibe Sorry for Love - this track is a slow version whereas it was a fast song on the last CD Have You Ever Been in Love - same exact track from the last CD, still a great song though. Hope they release it as a single

What can I say? The first time I listened to ONE HEART I was confused. So, I put it away and watched the A NEW DAY... TV Special on CBS. After the show I was in the Céline mood. So, I listened to "One Heart" again! I TRUELY LOVE IT! It is genious! It is pop! Vocals are wonderful! She did a GREAT LP! I was worried at first when I heard she was putting out another English LP after a little less than a year, I was hoping for a French LP. But, rumours started to come up and people were worried! She came through for us again! Je t'aime Céline!I DROVE ALL NIGHT - The 1st single from the LP. Of course you know it from the Chrysler commercials. The vocals are splendid. 5/5 LOVE IS ALL WE NEED - An up Max Martin tune! (From the writer who did "That's The Way It Is" as well as Britney Spears classics such as "...Baby One More Time","Oops!...I Did It Again",etc). 4/5 FAITH - this song is uptempo. It has a nice message...HAVE FAITH! Not my favourite, but ok! 3/5 IN HIS TOUCH - a 1940's type of ballad. It has mild distortion for the effect. The lyrics are pretty and make me want love! 5/5 ONE HEART - This has to be another one of my favourites! It's happy and pretty poppy! 5/5 STAND BY YOUR SIDE - Probably my least favourite. 2/5 NAKED - This is my second favourite. It makes you want to be in love! It's uptempo ballad. 5/5 SORRY FOR LOVE (2003 VERSION) The ballad version of the song previously released on the "A New Day Has Come" LP. I REALLY LIKE IT! I must confess I wasn't too excited having a recycled song! 4/5 HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE - another previously released track from "A New Day Has Come". It's a pretty song, but we've heard it all before! The same exact version! They could hbave at least done alternate vocals! 2/5 (On ANDHC 4/5) REVEAL - A nice, pretty song! 4/5 COULDA WOULDA SHOULDA - previously released on the A NEW DAY HAS COME LIMITED EDITION CD+DVD 5/5 FORGET ME NOW - This is the "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) of the LP! Pretty! 5/5 I KNOW WHAT LOVE IS - My MOST FAVOURITE SONG! I love it. I had it in my head all day at school! This is a big ballad. MY FAVOURITE! 5/5! JE T'AIME ENCORE - I was hoping this soung would be in French, but what can I say. It's a poor song to send the LP. After it's done you're like "huh?"! 2/5 "ONE HEART" is an excellent LP. Makes me proud to be a DION fan! Get it, you'll love it! I can't wait for her forthcoming music! I LOVE YOU!
- my review
     By A1V8XKXKNLU04P on 2003-04-15
I read the reviews and I cry over the fact that some people have actually belived them enough to buy the album. If you thought "A New Day Has Come" was a poor release, reduce its quality by about 50% and you get this album. The days of excellent radio-friendly chart-driven singles have long since gone from Celines days. With forgettable over-produced songs like "I Drove All Night", I encourage Celine to get back to the style of music that made her huge. Gone are the songs that sound like her hits "My Heart Will Go On" & "That's The Way It Is". In are the hits that are reminessent of recent releases by Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys. Maybe i am over-exagerating a little, but One Heart is an album that was only released to get the Celine hype up just a little for her new Caesars Tour. Save your money and wait for a real Celine album to release into stores after the tour ends, which will be a while.
- Not so good

The only good track on the album is "I Drove All Night". The rest is simply bland. Celine is so predictable and boring, why can't she do something interesting and fresh???

Celine Dion is back with a new album entitled ONE HEART. This release coincides with the opening night of her 3 year Vegas stint, and her new perfume is also in stores, all at the same time. On ONE HEART Celine moves away from the MOR sound that has been evident in all her albums up until now. There is a fresh vibe to this album, nice uptempo songs with infectuous melodies, uplifting ballads and positive messages all around. It opens with her rendition of "I Drove All Night", her current hit, which strays nicely from her normal formula. I really like "Coulda Woulda Shoulda", an uptempo song about not believing in regrets and believing in love, this is single material. "Naked" has a nice edgy, slight rock feel to it, with a killer chorus, more single material. From her past album A NEW DAY HAS COME we have "Have You Ever Been In Love", a beautiful ballad, and a new version of "Sorry For Love", which is slower than the dance version found on last year's album. "One Heart" is pure pop. There's no song of heartbreak here, just nice positive songs about love and life, and having faith. Various producers on the album, such as Max Martin, Rami, Peer Astrom, Anders Bagge, Ric Wake, Vito Luprano, and more. Overall ONE HEART is much needed new energy into Celine's career, I'm glad to see she is expanding her wings and trying new things. She is still in top vocal form. Overall a treat to the ears.
- Another mediocre Celine album...
     By A263R1OE28R6YC on 2003-04-14
Sure, there are six tracks on here that I find appealing, but it's not something I really want to buy. I love Love Is All We Need! Celine does a heavy pop song while staying true to herself and utilizing her vocal range. Other songs I love are One Heart, In His Touch, Naked, Sorry For Love, And Have You Ever Been In Love. One Heart and Naked are midtempo upbeat songs-great for singing along to in the car! In His Touch, Sorry For Love, and Have You Ever Been In Love are great ballads that stay stuck in your head for a long time! The rest of the tracks are just bland filler material-great for playing in a Foley's department store or on an elevator!
- Very commercial
     By on 2003-04-23
I have always been a huge fan of Celine and always will be but this album was a little disappointing to me. I think her music is becoming too pop-ish. Although there are a few ballads in this CD, I find most of her songs too boring. Yeah, there's a nice beat but so what?? She's not using her range in her voice anymore. My favorite album from her is "Colour of my World". That was one of her best. If you compare that one to One Heart, you can tell what a big difference her songs have become. I understand she's promoting this CD because of her new show in Las Vegas and those Chyrsler commercials. I have to admit this is not very 'Celine'. I hope she goes back to using her real voice again. I'll still listen to One Heart once in a while but I won't wear it out like her earlier CDs.
- Dion Mediocre
     By A1IV4XBV2XEQPQ on 2004-01-22
Let's get one thing straight, Celine Dion is not an artist - she is a singer. The only thing she offers is a voice that is, without a doubt, spectacular. A good example is this release titled "One Heart."Her sales have gone down lately, not coming close to recapturing the glory of "Let's Talk About Love." Yet, she managed to release a greatest hits album, go on a hiatus to live a "normal" life, whatever that is and give birth. But these very short years of normality created a monster out of Dion whose latest release feels like a magazine with way too many ads and not enough substantial content. "One Heart" brings us a Celine that has developed from wailing chanteuse to full-fledged commodity. The CD contains a sample of her new perfume - J.Lo anyone? - and a Chrysler car logo with the words "Drive & Love" under it, which explains why she revamped Cyndi Lauper's older more haunting "I Drove All Night" into a club anthem. Her voice carries it, but it is too Wal-Mart ready. Furthermore, this album comes out in time for her million-dollar Las Vegas spectacle shows. Pulling three promo plugs in one. "One Heart" is what you expect from Celine Dion fans, middle-of the-road ballads that will put smiles on suburban 30-somethings and the occasional upbeat optimistic number like the title song. One element that is not present is the heartbreak anthems. This release, however, is more faux-rock oriented and meanders into Shania Twain territory minus the pizzazz and the twang, like in "Naked" and "Je T'Aime Encore." This album is no "Falling Into You" but comes close to "A New Day Has Come" But other than for a few well-produced tunes, "One Heart" contains Britney-rejects from Max Martin and MOR ballads. She might be a diva, but she's no Mariah.
- CELINE, AMAZING AND BREATH-TAKING AS ALWAYS!
     By AYR80XDZMMXUD on 2003-03-27
Wow! I'm speechless, CELINE keeps surprising me. With 'A NEW DAY HAS COME'(2002) I thought that I've seen everything that CELINE could do, but with 'ONE HEART' CELINE comes back with up-tempo-dance-powerfull songs with the perfect touch of breath-taking ballads. CELINE shows one more time, why she's 'THE ULTIMATE DIVA' she's happier than ever! and u can c it through her songs that are postive, full with love and passion, and ballads that are simply breath-taking and with all the power and passion of her voice and an open window to her soul. With songs like 'I DROVE ALL NIGHT' ,'LOVE IS ALL WE NEED' , 'ONE HEART' or 'COULDA WOULDA SHOULDA' you can dance and fill with energy. And with songs like 'IN HIS TOUCH' 'STAND BY YOUR SIDE' 'JE T'AIME ENCORE' and more u can really let ur soul speak, and tell the most wonderful stories of love, told by the most wonderful voice ever! IT'S A MUST HAVE ALBUM! CELINE has a long way to go, 'cause she'll be around for a really REALLY long time. Because she has ONE powerful and amazing HEART.
- disappointed Celine fan

Celine is one of my favorite singers of all time. Yet I was extremely disappointed with this CD. The only song I would gladly play over and over again is "I Drove All Night", but the others are mediocre and cliche. This surprised me, for every other CD of hers, I have enjoyed most, if not all, of the tracks.
- Drop track 9 and the Chrysler logo, and I'd give it a 5.
     By A28K77W5F4V32O on 2003-04-30
The problem with favorite artists is that you expect so much from them that anything they put out is disappointing. Obviously, Celine can sing, and she's put out some good pop tunes, so expectations are high with every release. If she duplicates the previous album, people hate it, if she strays too far that sound, people hate it. Just take it for what it is.That said, this album is not bad. Actually it's quite good. The songs are lighter in theme than the previous album, with arrangements that fit them perfectly. Since the beginning she's had some songs with interesting arrangements - see 'With This Tear' off her self-title cd, or the strange violin in 'To Love You More'. There's variety here - dance, ballads, mid-tempo - but let's face it, no established artist is going to stray far from what made them popular and stay successful (see Mariah). The tracks are well produced, not overproduced like a lot of songs on the last album, giving the album a more spontaneous, rawer, feel, like they only did one or two takes, or maybe recorded it live in the studio. I like her ballads, but I like her dance stuff just as much. The variety here shows she can sing anything well. Her club-cover of 'I Drove All Night' is killer, as well as 'Reveal'. 'Naked' has a nice guitar edge. "Forget Me Not' has an interesting vocal arrangement. 'I Know What Love Is' has a beautiful melody, and is THE ballad here. Her slowed down re-working of 'Sorry for Love' is good, though I like the original better. The un-reworked 'Have You Ever . . ." should be stricken from the cd since we heard the same version on the last album. There's no excuse good enough for it being included. Overall, it is a very cohesive album even though a number of musical styles are represented. (BTW, the last song is NOT country. It starts with an acoustic guitar, but that doesn't make it a country song, idiots!) Highly recommended!

I'm a really big fan of Celine, who buys every album of hers that comes out for the last years. I'm truly sorry to admit that this album SUCKS big time. You want to hear the real Celine Dion? Try S'il Suffisait D'Aimer or Falling Into You. This album is a great disappointment, commercialized and overly sappy. Too bad.

I'm disappointed. I've loved Celine since 1987, long before anyone else here in the U.S. even knew who she was. I'd been listening to her French albums until she crossed over to English in 1990. It's kind of funny. I knew all along that she was going to really hit it big someday, even when I was teased for standing by a then no-name. I kept hoping she would. Ironically, her songs were the best when she didn't receive worldwide accolades and attention. After she returned from her hiatus, I was thrilled that she released A New Day Has Come. For a comeback album, it was very sweet. It certainly served to satiate the long withdrawal period. But what I heard wasn't the voice I stood by and proudly boasted to anyone who'd listen, way back in the early '90s when she was just breaking the English barrier. I was sure that her next album would bring back the Celine I remembered. And now she's back with One Heart...and all I want to know is, "What was she thinking?" I LIKE ONE SONG ON THE ENTIRE ALBUM("I Drove All Night"). A lot of her songs on this album were penned by Max Martin and this is where my disappointment hit hard. Not only am I sick and tired of the whole Stockholm recording scene--most commonly linked with boybands, Britney Spears and other ADOLESCENT-targeted pop confection acts--but I have some very strong negative sentiments regarding Mr Martin's songwriting abilities, or lack thereof. Simply put, his songs are devoid of emotion and the beats don't complement the absurdly basic lyrics. I was hoping Celine's voice would be enough to overcome that. I've been listening to this album every night, still desperately trying to find something to like about it. I always considered Celine's music to be adult contemporary. She just stepped into mass-produced, soul-less pop territory. And I am really disappointed. I am hoping that her next French album(so far none have disappointed me) will be powerful enough to replace the ringing in my ears. If she puts out another English album, I do sincerely hope she returns to her classic sound. I am still her longest, strongest and truest American fan but as such, I can say with conviction that "One Heart" is very weak for a talented woman who brought real, genuine emotion to her songs before. Call it a funk. Every artist goes through a phase like that. I guess this is just a phase. At least I hope so!!
- ...irritating...

When I first listened to 'One Heart' there was, or so I thought, either some dust or other debris on the disc because of an irritating 'skip' during "I Drove All Night." I cleaned the disc only to find that this did not rectify the problem. So I returned the disc stating that it had a defect. Well, it turns out that this 'defect' is also disappointingly apparent on the replacement disc. I am surprised that no other reviewer has mentioned this. At 3' 24" into "I Drove..." there is a very irritating pause, however brief. I love the song but this pause is extremely annoying at best. In my opinion it nearly completely ruins this great song. I find the rest of the songs to be mediocre. This is not one of Celine's best offerings. 'One Heart' is good and the new version of 'Sorry for Love' is probably my fave on the disc, but the original version was much better. As a Celine Dion fan, I am disappointed.
- This excellent album soars! (And it's not about the ballad.)

Celine's finally released an English album that contains the same type of diversity found in her French work. One Heart may not surprise longtime fans who already know Celine's vocal range (I'm talking low register, here!), but it might make new fans of folks who were previously "anti Celine." (You know who you are...you're the ones who thought your heads would explode if you heard "My Heart Will Go On" one more time.) My two cents: Rejoice -- this album is different. Good different. I'm not a huge fan of "I Drove All Night," and I do find it odd that they've included a couple of songs that were already on the last album...but what you'll find beyond all that is some truly fun stuff. A couple of examples? Lots of acoustic guitar and simplicity, along with Celine's soft vocals give songs like "Stand By Your Side" soul, heart, and warmth. "Love Is All We Need" -- the title may sound like a weepy ballad, but the lyrics and pumping, altered rhythm of this song make it clear that it's anything but. As a whole, this album is a treat...totally a keeper.
- Celine Brings Optimistic Pop Back Onto the Scene

After two years of annoying rap and obnoxious R&B songs, Celine releases "One Heart." You're probably thinking "Uh-oh, more chest pounding, sappy power-ballads for the masses." Not the case here. "One Heart" is actually a very light-hearted, upbeat album. Of course, you get the spectacular power-house uptempo "I Drove All Night" which I still hail as Celine's best single since "To Love You More." Her vocals are fantastic. "Love Is All We Need" isn't really one of my favorites. It's upbeat, but it brings Britney Spears to mind *not surprising considering it was written by Max Martin.* But the album is redeemed on the third track "Faith" which is a beautiful sort of midtempo track. The title track "One Heart" is upbeat and peppy as is another of my personal favorites "Coulda Woulda Shoulda I." Not like any of Celine's other songs. The ballads are pleasant. "Have You Ever Been In Love" makes an encore appearance after being on "A New Day." It will definitely keep Celine's more adult contemporary-oriented fans satisfied. "I Know What Love Is" will too and is probably my favorite of the ballads. "Naked" is another highlight of the album and falls more into the midtempo range. It's more acoustic-oriented.I think "One Heart" could definitely help draw Celine a younger fanbase while keeping the older fans happy. It has a little of something for everyone. The only drawback is it lacks that one signature ballad that always seems to grace Celine's albums whicj is why the 4 star rating, but I definitely enjoy it over "A New Day Has Come" which was a good album, but was a bit boring. Plus, the really decent songs on it were never released as singles. "One Heart" is a more fun side of Celine. Highly recommended.
- The best voice, but not her best album...

It is clear that this is a singer who has strived and has worked hard for a true deserved recognition as an incredible singer. Nevertheless, as a true Celine fan, I have to admit this is not one of her best works. It cannot be compared to the spectacular " Falling into you" and the quality of " Let's talk about love", which are past albums. Even though it's evident that she put a tremendous effort into this album (as she always does), I can't encourage you, with all my knowledge of her work, to buy this CD. Sure, there are some songs that are catchy and have her great, powerful voice on them, but, I still think that this album does not live up to the grandeur and quality expected by the world and seen on her past albums. In overall, I'm really sorry to say that this record, along with "A new day has come", have not been Celine's best. But no matter what she sings, Celine is, and always will be the best singer of all time!
- Change is good..

Yes, this album is unlike previous Celine albums, but change can be good. Let's face it..the pop music world is a fickle one. If Celine kept producing the same songs from (in my opinion her best albums) "Falling Into You" and "Let's Talk About Love," sure she would keep her same fans, but probably wouldn't win over new ones. The music industry is constantly changing and you have to keep up with it. "One Heart" certainly is a better CD than "A New Day..." "One Heart" has a wide range or music from upbeat songs like "I drove all night" "Love is all we need" and "One Heart," very non-Celine songs like "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda," "Naked," and "Reveal," while sticking to some of her ballad works like "In His Touch" and "I Know What Love Is," which in my opinion is the best song on this CD. I agree with comments that Celine is becoming a bit too commercialized, I mean come on...the Chrysler logo on the inside cover?? Nevertheless, Celine has proved her staying power. She is afterall, the best selling female recording artist in history. Not to mention her huge Vegas show and $100 million contract. No, Celine hasnt sold as many albums since her hiatus from 2000-2002, but hey the lady is still selling millions of albums...where are Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston now? Point blank, music changes and you sometimes have to conform. Celine has in my opinion one of the most powerful voices of our time and towers over the likes of Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Madonna, and well, even Cher. Basically, this is a great album, just dont go into it expecting another "Falling Into You" album...you'll find yourself let down.
- Just go away already!

Here it is folks, another hammy offering from the pseudo-serious phoney from Canada. I am still in utter disbelief of her mangling of Roy Orbison's classic, "I Drove All Night." This song evokes such strong emotions of unattainable love and longing, yet Ms. Dion treats it as though it were just another throw away tune at a smalltown drag bar. Cyndi Lauper reworked this back in 1989 and offered a more strings heavy and hurtful cover. It was AMAZING! Here, Celine is just going through the motions and totally ripping off Cher! I'm sure Cher just rolled her eyes at all those Chrysler commercials while chuckling to herself. Hello! Chrysler!!! Geez, even that she gets wrong! If she had chosen to sell herself out for Mercedes, Toyota or Volkswagen I could at least give her credit for backing a decent automobile...but CHRYSLER?!?! Ugh! Cause I know the first thing that pops into my mind when I think of Sebring is Celine.
- Contemporary Celine at her best
     By A6LX7RBWJ4GU2 on 2004-10-10
I'm a BIG Celine Dion fan (though I didn't fall in love with her until The Colour Of My Love, however my CD collection long ago caught up to its predecessors.)
One Heart is probably my favourite of all her English Albums (alas, I don't own any of her French albums.) As mentioned in previous reviews, the sheer variety of music styles covered on the album showcases Celine's enormous talent to perfection:
1. I Drove All Night - While I absolutely LOVE the 1989 Cyndi Lauper version of this song, Celine makes it her own with that sensational voice in this brilliantly reworked cover.
2. Love Is All We Need - This track deals with an unfortunate aspect of today's world - turning a blind eye to others in need, quickly dismissing them because they're not 'our problem.' Lyrically, this song is brilliant, I'm just not a big fan of the way it was cut musically.
3. Faith - I think this song was written about me! Sometimes we do and say little things that totally go against our true feelings and can be taken the wrong way, but if you truly love someone, you learn to dismiss these little thing. A lovely acoustic-like track.
4. In His Touch - I love this track. Musically, lyrically, vocally it's just gorgeous. A brilliant lower-tempo, mellow song and Celine's coy, sometimes-suggestive voice is exquisite.
5. One Heart - The title track is a little too 'pop' for me, but Celine's voice is always magic to listen to.
6. Stand By Your Side - This song is what love's all about. A beautiful song.
7. Naked - one of my favourites. Celine's voice soars in this sexy, catchy song about being in that perfect point in a relationship where you feel like you can give and feel your all. Play this one loud!
8. Sorry For Love (2003 version) - for some reason it was decided to include a remix of a song that was on A New Day Has Come, but I like this more mellow version a lot better than the original.
9. Have You Ever Been In Love - again, a track that was originally featured on A New Day Has Come, but it's the same version. A beautiful song, but not sure why it was included. Surely they could have remixed it or at least included something different?
10. Reveal - Another sexy, catchy track (though not as fantastic as Naked)
11. Coulda Woulda Shoulda - another favourite! I LOVE it! We've all been there and done that. Again, a perfect combination of great lyrics, sensational, uplifting music and THAT voice!
12. Forget Me Not - Listening to this track, you can almost picture Celine holding baby Rene Charles, gently rocking him as she croons this sweet little song to him.
13. I Know What Love Is - definitely my absolute favourite. Not just on this album, but my favourite Celine song altogether. From the beautiful piano intro all the way through to the last note, I'm mesmerized. It also holds special meaning for me as it describes my relationship with my wonderful boyfriend to a T. The first 1000 times I played it, it would make me cry (happy tears!)Celine's voice and the instrumentation is simply exquisite. A beautiful ballad.
14. Je T'aime Encore - a bittersweet little ballad that includes some killer Celine vocals towards the end, to perfectly finish off the album.
With a couple of exceptions (eg I Drove All Night, the title track), One Heart essentially sounds a lot more relaxed and natural, both musically (with notably more acoustically-based instrumentations) and vocally (Celine's stunning voice is at it's effortless best) than her previous releases. One Heart has a timeless, contemporary feel right down to the beautiful, stylish CD cover and booklet and proves once and for all what Celine fans like myself have known for years - there is only One Celine.
