  • Finally, someone got the clip design right

    By A11D1KHM7DVOQK on 2005-05-28
Okay, headphones are a pain in the a$$! Trust me, you need to go through thousands to find the right ones. Let's get on with the review!

Sound Quality (4/5) - The sound quality on these is far by good. The bass is very deep, not too deep, but having bass too deep IS a problem (can't hear anything but BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!). If you wanna hear deep bass, put pressure on these. Feel discomfort from the clip and have a headache for the amount of bass. Congrats! You've become an idiot! Anyway, the volume on these is quite loud, but not quite as loud as Sony's h.ear, but the treble is better. Who says you can have it all (if you've ever heard anyone tell you that you can have it all, please hit their head with a shovel)?

Comfort (5/5) - Now, if you read the packaging (which contains someone who looks a lot like Jennifer Lopez, btw), it states things about comfort. Well, those are in fact all true. These headphones are VERY comfortable, and at times I can't notice they're on. Definite 5 stars in comfort.

Design (3/5) - Ok, design is good and awful. Let me break it down:

    Good:

    - The cord is long. Why good: This would be good for people using these for computering, studio monitoring, video/music editing, things that NEED a long cord.

    - The cord is made with strong plastic. Why good: This would be good for bike or ATV riding. Cords get damaged from being hit with a helmet, or just in the air. This is perfect for that, and other similar rough activities.

    - The plug is gold plated. Why good: This would be good for most audiophiles and people (freaks) who detail every little thing in every song. Gold plated plugs also seem to be louder than silver plugs.

    - The hook is a spring hook. Why good: For people with elf ears (pointy ears), this will make it easier to fit on.

    Bad:

    - The hook is a spring hook. Why bad: This is the biggest negative of this headphone. The spring hook, makes the speaker go away from the ear, taking out bass and volume that all those audiophiles (and freaks) just love. Why else is this bad: This also make it leak sound. This is a pain for people listening to loud music, which make a little distraction for people sitting next to you (like a bus, or classroom, or a public place).

Features (5/5) - Yay! A positive! The features on the w.ear are pretty great. Firstly, the interchangeable covers is a nice touch, and there are blue and silver to choose from. The silver sure looks nice next to my SLCT582V, and the blue would look nice on more colored objects (such as a bright colored CD player, Sony's new PSYC players to be specific). As I said, the spring clip is a big positive and a big negative. So yeah, there may be only two features, but these are headphones, you're not getting a thousand features on them.

Portability (5/5) - Ok, pictures mean nothing. Yeah, their "clip design". That's what I like to call advertising. Not all clip designs are slim, but that is what Sony and the picture are making you think. Even though these DO happen to be very slim, fair warning. Anyway, these are very slim. Slimmer than my slim design CD player. So, these are very portable.

Price (4/5) - The price for these are surely not a bargain, but they aren't overpriced. The price is set about just right. Most headphones with these features would be also around the $20 mark.

Who they might be for: These headphones would be for people who aren't TOO picky about audio quality, but still want decent sound from them. People who might be using them for long periods of time, or have small-normal sized ears. Maybe for people using computers, or for studio monitoring of some such (but you will need to buy an adapter). People may want to consider these for durability, for maybe people doing sports, bike/ATV riding, or other rough activities. These may be good for people who are using these in not-so-public places, but still travel a lot, or even for home usage. These would be good for people who like interchangeable covers and style.

In my opinion, these overall deserve 4 stars. They aren't exactly perfect, but they're damn there close.

  • Great for night wear

    By A2KK0TGWNE5TPY on 2005-12-28
After trying many pairs of headphones, these have been by far the best. I enjoy using these while falling asleep at night. They're super comfortable. I never feel like they're pinching or squishing my ears, yet they stay on nicely. They're very durable. I've broken a few similar designed headphones, but these have held up nicely.

They are not noise-cancelling, but that's what I wanted, since I still want to be able to hear other noises.

  • Eh...I expected more

    By A3DYU8BOFVW5BQ on 2004-10-21
Looking for headphones to go with my iPod, since the earbuds that came with it hurt if I wear them for long periods of time...

Not impressed with these headphones. "Rich bass" my ear -- the cheap headphones that came with my last portable cd player have better-sounding bass. These Sony headphones are tinny sounding, and I need to crank the volume to hear anything through them (or press the 'phones to my ear -- the spring clip doesn't have enough tension to put them in that place for me).

On the plus side, I suppose, they are comfortable to wear - I don't find that they "deform" my ear in any way, and they don't hurt. They'll suffice for running, but I'll be sticking with the Apple earbuds for other uses (plane trips, at work, etc.)

  • Look Good, Fit Good, Sound Good

    By AO7QJA26EMLWB on 2007-01-12
Earbuds are totally uncomfortable for me, especially since I wear my headphones hours at a time at work. Sony's earhook headphones are the perfect solution - they sit outside the ear but don't have a clumsy plastic bar going across or behind your head. You can switch the caps from metallic blue to silver (Sony also has a pair available from Amazon with a white cord and white or green caps to match the white iPods) and in 2 years I've never had a cap fall off.

Personally, I find the fit comfortably snug, not too tight, not so far from your ear you lose sound. But ultimately fit will vary from person to person, ear to ear.

The sound itself is good quality - surprisingly so for non-noise cancelling headphones - and amazing for the price!

I like the right connected to the left headphone design, making it so the wire hangs behind your neck instead of in a v across your chest. I find this design keeps the wires out of the way while I'm working, (just situate the wire behind your arm/shoulder instead of in front). This is true whether you keep the player in a pocket, or clipped to your collar like I do. It sounds like runners may have a problem with this design though ...

One draw back is the long cord - I have to untangle it everytime I put it on. It would be great if Sony could put out a version with a reel to pick up the slack. But still, it's the best practical alternative I've found to earbuds.

  • JUST what I was looking for!

    By A322JU7DXMBCNZ on 2005-09-26
I was considering not buying these headphones because of the negative reviews I read on this page, but was tempted by the price and figured I'd return them if I wasn't satisfied. I needn't even have worried.

First off, these are quite possibly the most comfortable heaphones you will ever wear. I often forget that I'm wearing them at all... er, just don't don them while wearing lots of earcuffs.

Secondly, the sound is just perfect. It's clear, though not extremely bassy, and crisp. What's more, the design allows me to hear outside noises fairly well, so I can tell if a car is coming or if someone is calling my name. These are the only clip-on headphones I have ever worn where I prefer the sound they normally give over the sound when I press them closer to my ears.

Last of all, these headphones are, well, pretty. They're silver with a strong silver cord and optional dark blue plates to accent them with. I highly recommend them to you.

  • A comfortable alternative to earbuds
    By AWYQ37ATTJKYY on 2005-12-29
I chose these headphones because I don't like the idea of earbuds shooting soundwaves directly into my inner ear. At least with these you can still hear ambient sound, though I'm hardly qualified to say that they're really better for you.

I found these to fit my ears pretty snuggly. I have average sized ears I'd say, and the clips held the earphones tightly enough to my ear that I'd get good sound but not so tight they hurt. The sound is pretty good for a pair of earphones that are less than $20. Don't expect deep rummaging bass that blows out your ears from of these, but for most kinds of music they work fine. I've used them for classical, rock, jazz, and oldies music and they sound great. If you don't wear them right and they're not snug to your ear, the earphones WILL sound tinny... but that's because you're not wearing them right! It took me a couple tries the first time buts its easy peasy. It also depends on what kind of player you're using too. I'm using these with a Samsung Yepp, and even without bass boost options I can get a good balanced sound. If you're looking for a disproportionately heavy bass, I can't really say because I don't listen to music that way. But I will definately say that I'm getting a good range with good balance.

My only warning is that for those of you with earrings, the clips sometimes catch when you're taking them off. I have my ears double pierced with small hoops, and yanking these off are not a smart thing to do!

Overall I would definately recommend these for practical-minded people looking for a comfortable alternative to earbuds.

P.S. for the moron reviewer below commenting on the wire running from earpiece to earpiece: the wire goes behind your head goof!

  • Great portable/exercise phones
    By AS5TFE8EY77WU on 2007-02-18
Convenient, tiny, secure-fitting, super-comfortable. Very decent sound quality for this price-range, too.

I recently changed to using Koss KSC-75 clip ons, which sound significantly better, but are a little fussy to get fitting properly and aren't as secure and comfortable.

Ultimately, I prefer the Koss clip-ons for the better sound, but these are probably a better option for exercise or for long-term wearing.

UPDATE: I recently bought a second pair of the Sonys after my Koss clip-ons started cutting out in one ear. They don't really take the abuse that I give a set of portable 'phones. For a cheap, decent sounding pair to use at a desk, the Koss are still a good choice, but if you're going to be sticking them in pockets or backpacks, etc, I don't think they're durable enough. And yes, the Koss do sound better than the Sonys, but I'll just have to compromise for portable use.

  • Most comfortable headphones I've ever had
    By A2H4ZK9D4MUJ2R on 2006-06-12
These are probably the most comfortable headphones I've ever tried. They slip on over the ear, and you almost forget they are there. Sound quality is pretty decent for $15 dollar headphones, they're actually than the $40 dollar KOSS headphones I had before these. I broke my first set, and promptly replaced them, and this set has lasted me for over 4 years of very heavy abuse. They tend to act like a set of weights, and when one falls the other goes with it twice as hard. I've run over the cord with my computer chair, sat on them, accidentally doused them in water, and a whole other variety of hazards. And through all that, they work as well as they day I bought them.

I have absolutely no issue with these headphones except maybe that they're kind of bland looking. It still doesn't stop them from being the best bargain I've ever purchased. And this is coming from a guy who basically avoids buying anything Sony. Highly recommended for cheap travel headphones.

  • A satisfied user
    By A3T4QWGGTJ1KZW on 2004-12-18
If you're into to music with heavy bass content and delight in driving vehicles with massive subwoofers, these are not the headphones for you. Then again the devices you normally use these in don't output alot of bass to begin with. So go get the can-style headphones.

For everyone else; hey, these are great. They do the job we need perfectly. Want to disguise the fact your using an iPod or need to hear the outside environment while listening to your tunes/fifth race at Haymarket, get these.
I got mine when my Nth set of Q33s bit the dust and have only noticed a slight drop in distant radio reception on my discman.

  • Surprised by sound quality, value and durability!
    By A1YF0SKMGV2BIL on 2006-11-07
Before I became "an audiophile," I simply loved to listen to sounds (music, books on tape or CD, nature and such) and have it sound good. When I bought my first CD/MP3 player, things changed. I didn't know what the problem was and it took a long time to figure it out:

The CD/MP3 players are horribly under-powered! But I bet you knew that.

All the headphones I had previously used and been very happy with just didn't seem to work any longer and the Sony MDR-Q22LP was my first foray into the world of upgrading because I HAD to rather than because I WANTED to. Big difference!

These are great little spring-action supra-aural (on the ear) headphones. They are not Sennheisers and they are not Grados and they are not the few models of Koss out there that deserve positive reviews such as the PortaPros or even the Spark Plugs (they sound better than the Spark Plugs in my opinion). But they have a very low impendence of only 24 Ohms with a fantastic range for the price and they are so comfortable that you can conceivably fall asleep in them. I have!

Sometimes Audiophiles get so caught up in names, models, who says what that we forget that the reason we became Audiophiles in the first place is because we love pleasing sounds. If you have a specific purpose in mind, these might not be for you. But if you want a pair of basic headphones that are reliable, have good sound for the money (I actually paid 19 dollars for mine at the time), are very durable, you can work out in, do the dishes while listening through them and so on, you may just find that you need look no further. If you don't have like a band around your head, same thing. If you need to block ambient noise out or you are looking for sound stage quality, I recommend looking to Grado, Sennheiser and a few models of Koss.

In the end, you need to weigh what you need a pair of headphones for vs. their cost and their features. Just because someone else has had a good experience with them doesn't necessarily mean you will. He/she might have had no ambient noise to block out but you absolutely NEED that feature. The Sennheiser PX-200 is a great choice. Perhaps you are true audiophile and so you automatically look down on these tiny cans. But I guess I have just enough music lover in me to know that these are good cans for a great price and they will make the right people happy. I have numerous other cans, including the ones mentioned above but I have found that for books on tapes, the Sony MDR-Q22LP are in my top three for listening to them! I like them and just because I have supposedly "audiophile" cans now doesn't mean I've stopped liking them. The truth is that for some needs they beat some $60-$80 cans. I hope this review helps.

  • these don't work on small ears
    By A20SA204H5EQDR on 2003-12-30
I have small ears and although these headphones look small, they hung off my ears and bent the tops of my ears down. There's no way they would have stayed on while running. I returned them immediately.

  • Value for money (well, almost)
    By ASOWCAB6C2Y0A on 2004-06-04
I got these a few weeks ago after months of hunting around for the perfect pair. I thought the price was a little to steep at first but after testing it I thought this might just be worth it. I chose these because I've always found earphones annoying as they keep popping out of my ear. The sound quality is superb for this type of headphones. It's also light and the clip does not hurt my ear after long periods. The problem with them is that it takes a bit longer to put it on because you have to make sure the clip is securely fasten behind your ear or it will come off. The caps are a bit loose and come off when I keep them in the front pocket of my backpack. However, I find these problems a small price to pay for the excellent sound quality.

  • SONY STINKS!!!
    By on 2004-08-19
Okay, before i start, let me say that i am both and audiophile and a gym rat. So when i work out or run, its all about the music. I also listen to a variety of music; from simple guitars and drums to electronica. This is why i need headphones that are perfect. However, im not loaded, so i need headphones that are AFFORDABLE and Perfect.
Well, sony has done it again. They've become one of those companies who simply believes that if they stick their label on an item it'll sell. Unfortunately, thats true cuz when i saw SONY on a pair of headphones for 19.99, i bought them. These headphones are not a good deal for the price. First, they have no bass ports (little holes on the side of the headphones) which are usually needed to provide rich bass. Second, i hate this sliding-clip design. Just make the headphones click into place sony!!! you dont have to be unique about everything!!! The only thing i love about these and other clip on headphones by sony is there single cord design; where the cord goes behind then neck from the left to the right earpiece and then a single cord goes from the left to the cd player. No one else seems to copy this design, so i end up buying sony.
If your not a big audiophile, these earphones deserve 4 stars. I think the same clip headphones from phillips for 14.99 at target are a better idea.

  • Nice ones but not perfect
    By A2HGM24LQSPKC7 on 2005-06-30
Honestly I expected more from these head phones !!
pros- very nice shape, interchangable stuff is cool. best thing I liked is that cord is such long that I have no problem if I use them in GYM.with my height 5'4"I can keep my CD player on floor and still can stand easily wearing them !!!!
Cons- they dont fit snuggly, For small ears they will be loose. But for guys They should be good.

  • These are great!
    By A277MI7SK55EDK on 2006-01-20
I ordered these as replacements for my iPod. They're extremely comfortable and have a good sound to them. The thing I didn't like is that they're a little bulky and stick out a ways, so you can't lean on anything wearing them. They also don't stay pressed against my ear very well. Overall-these are ideal for around the house or in the car.

  • Forget the negative
    By A1LFDM4BLIHMJ4 on 2006-03-27
These earphones are great. The sound is not too bass-laden and you achieve great sounds while being able to hear outside noises. I have no problem keeping them on my ears, and the reason why the cord that leads from one earphone to another then to whatever unit you're using them with is so long is because I believe Sony meant for us to have the option to run the cord behind our necks, so that it's not hanging under one's chin. Forget the naysayers, these earphones are just the right fit for my lifestyle.

  • Addicted to these headphones
    By A2174XD84GGCAD on 2008-03-24
The perfect headphones! (Almost.) I've bought these exact brand of headphones 4 times, and I'm about to buy them a 5th. Why? Well, I'm extremely picky about headphones. I often wear baseball caps, so the plastic band over my head with old-style headphones is inconvenient. I grew up wearing those and am basically sick of that design. They also get in the way of my glasses. My ears must be some mutant shape totally incompatible with all earbuds. I refuse to wear them. The sound quality is so poor with earbuds I'm constantly fiddling with them to keep them where I want in my ears. The expensive "noise-canceling" types are no good for people on the go, and in my case they get too sweaty and hot to wear comfortably (I often wear headphones when walking briskly). You can hear the suction when I take those big ol' headphones off. I've even tried a knock-off brand of these with a similar clip, but the plastic clip on other manufacturer's brands is harder and very irritating to me. These headphones are perfect from a comfort standpoint as they fit on my ears and allow them to breathe. I can easily slip one off if someone is talking to me and I need to hear them. I can clip the headphones to my shirt if I need to take them off for an extended period of time.

The only drawback is durability. The first pair was lying on the floor (my fault) and my girlfriend vacuumed up the cord. Snap! The earphone part broke right off. I was a little annoyed, but then I started to panic when I had trouble finding that particular model in retail stores. Thank goodness for Amazon. We managed to get another pair, and at the same time I bought a pair for her brother's birthday because I like them so much. My 2nd set bit the dust when I was careless with the cord in a supermarket. The earphone part got pulled off while I was shoppping. The cord was dangling from my pocket and got snagged on the automatic door. Pop! The next pair got sucked into my retractable dog leash. I spent 20 minutes trying to untangle it before I finally gave up and walked my dog. There was another one in there, but I can't remember what happened to them. It wasn't pretty. That makes 4 times so far, plus one as a gift.

So, the durability is a factor. They do get tangled a lot. You can't really wrap them up for storage without them getting tangled somehow. However, I'm willing to put up with that because for me, ear comfort comes way way way ahead of the rest of the annoyances that go along with those headphones. I've been doing without since the last pair died, and I even bought another knock-off version of that headphone from another manufacturer, but it just isn't the same. This time, I'm placing an order for multiple sets because it appears Sony is not going to continue stocking it in stores. If you can put up with some minor tangling, I'd highly recommend them in terms of sound quality and comfort. Now that they are getting to be an older model, the price is coming down, too.

I'll admit there are some drawbacks, but I've never been more satisfied in terms of ear comfort than with these headphones. They are great in the gym if you are picky about hearing your music or talk uninterrupted, because the clip keeps them where they are supposed to be. That's of utmost importance to me. Good luck!

  • Horrible for sports!! But good for lounging.
    By AIDL31MGK6PAX on 2006-03-22
I purchased these thinking that they would be great for sports...you know stay on my ears as I'm running/jogging/etc. Not the case. The fact that a tiny wind blast would knock them off my head made a 3 mile jog turn into choir of holding the darn things to my head!! However, the sound quality is great for the price (even though other reviews say differently). They are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. All and all, if you plan to keep upright and still throughout wearing them, they are a good buy.

  • great deal for your money
    By A1AEI7C8TX7HZ3 on 2006-04-29
I have owned my pair for about a year and they are still in top condition. The sony lettering on the caps has pretty much worn off, but that is of little importance. For $15, these headphones are a great deal.

The sound is rather good and they are very comfortable to wear. I use these when jogging and I find they say on my ears better than earbuds. They simply clip onto the ear and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They might take a little longer to place on the ear but they don't fall out as easily either.

I know that the rubber casing coming off of wires is a big deal to most people but my pair's casing is still intact, no breaks whatsoever.

One thing I have noticed recently is that I'll get a little beeping noise every once in a while as I'm listening to these. Kind of like "da-da-daaa. da-da-daaa." It only beeps for about one second and I forget about it but I wonder if it's due to the age of the product or the fact that I've been drenching these in my sweat 3 times a week.

Another thing to keep in mind is that these headphones do not have a seal, making it harder to hear in a loud environment such as a bus or plane. They work great when it's quiet (like in a library) but for those who regularly listen to music in a loud place, I would recommend one of those earbuds that seal off your ear rather than these.

On the other hand, these are actually better for your ears as they aren't right up next to the sound organs like ear buds. So, you may be prolonging your hearing slightly if you use these instead of ear buds.

  • still using after a year...
    By A2UF9ZT5A8JPXN on 2006-10-18
I got these for christmas in 2005. They are still working good. They really fit any kind of ear - I usually can't do earbuds because my ears are too small. These really did the trick - they kind of stretch around your ear when you slide them on. They stay in place too. The only problem I have is the cord is really long, and if it gets caught on something (swinging back and forth when I'm running), it pulls them off my ears. That's only happened 5 or 6 times though. Great sound too. I would get them no doubt if you don't like to deal with earbuds.

  • Decent
    By A2MTHOHIYM84TV on 2007-02-01
These headphones are alright overall. The sound quality is fairly good, and these things are surprisingly durable (only the color caps come off sometimes when you drop them, but the headphone itself is unscratched). Also, the price is very cheap. However, the clips are very uncomfortable and only after a half hour my ears were sore. Also the cord tangles much too easily. All in all a decent product.

  • I suck at making titles, so please just skip to the review.
    By on 2007-02-17
Sound - I've had these headphones for well over 3 years now and they still sound just as good as they did when they were new...not that they sounded fantastic when they were new, but for the mainstream music listener, they should be more than adequate. 3/5

Durability - The sound may not have changed, but after all this use, the condition is pretty bad. I've lost all but one of the interchangable caps, the padding has worn so thin that it has several holes, and the cord has gotten tangled so many times that it's naturally curly. Some of this is my fault, but I usually try to take care of my things. I do have to give it props for lasting this long though. 4/5

Comfort - They were actually pretty comfortable for my humongous ears. They're very light, but not the point that you don't notice your wearing them. The padding is a little thin, but it doesn't really need to be much thicker. They weren't all that great for sleeping with though. I go to sleep with them alright, but when I wake up in the morning, the headphones will be in a tangled mess next to me and my ears will be sore. 3/5

Overall, if you plan on getting a set of headphones that will stay in good shape for at least a couple of years, then go for something else. To be honest, the only reason I still use these is because I'm cheap...and I don't have a job...but hey, I'm 15, give me a break.

  • Don't even bother
    By A3IIM7ZUS75GVB on 2003-07-15
Most people who'd be looking at these headphones are probably looking for something that's stylish enough to wear in public. If that's true for you, don't bother with these. The way these clip on bend the top of your ear downwards; and believe the other reviews when they say they make their ears look foolish. Furthermore, after wearing these for only a few minutes, the tops of my ears turned red. On the plus side, they seem to stay on alright, even though they tend to feel as if they're about to fall off any second. The sound quality is also really decent for headphones this size. But if you're more concerned about quality than comfort and looks, I'd still suggest you look elsewhere.

  • Not so bad
    By A273DJ5KVKE4B6 on 2003-11-26
Firstly, let me dispell the myth about how these affect the shape of your ear. They clip over your ears and mine are quite large and clip underneath the lobe. To work properly they need to attach firmly under the lobe and cause it to push forward very slightly. The headphone then covers the ear and so it cant be seen anyway.

Seconly, they sound ok. Clear but not too loud. ...

  • Just What I Was Looking For

These headphones are great. They are lightweight and compact. I can barely tell that I am wearing them. They are comfortable because a wire is all that goes behind your neck, no hard plastic. They are definately better than any earbuds. I had a pair of TDK earbuds that came with my MP3, but they hurt horribly! These are far superior, and worth the money.

  • Good Sound But Poor Physical Exterior
    By A2WY2KXTA1O6FJ on 2006-05-19
I bought the cute Pink and White Version at Target and the sound quality is good but it could be better cause it doesn't stick to your ears. The cord is the problem. It is made of a thin rubber covering that wears of and you can see the wires. I take care of it but I guess if it bends to much in one place it tears.
Buy at your own risk, if you can care for them better I suppose.
I am done with Sony Products. They are just a brand. I have other Sony things that just don't work right.

  • Very comfy, great sound, but not high in privacy.

I have had the most difficult time finding headphones to use with my Ipod. I have tried just about every brand/ type of hook phone without much luck. Since my ears are small, the buds that came with my Ipod would not stay in my ear and when I could manage to cram them in, they hurt! These earphones are comfy, stay in place, offer a great rich sound, but also allow anyone within ear shot to listen to your music as well. If you are walking in a crowded area where this isn't a problem, great! BUT, if you are trying to use these in a smaller gym or on any public transportation, you will need to kick the sound down considerably unless you don't mind sharing your play list with anyone nearby. This isn't a huge concern for me since I only use them to walk/jog around my neighborhood, but I could see this being a problem for any other type of consumer.

  • Sony cans
    By AAJO54VBC6K2X on 2007-09-11
Of course, like most people, the stock earbuds which came with my mp3 player (zenstone plus) hurt my ears. I read all of the reviews of the Sony, and I was interested in two major points:1.the earphones were comfortable, and 2.the sound quality was excellent. Both of these reviews were correct. In addition, I liked the fact that I could hear ambient sound, which in a large city is a plus-especially with the cars, trains and occasional muggers....

  • Excellent clip-on earphones with long FM antenna cord
    By APQQK1V695AUE on 2008-06-21
I really like these Sony clip-on, open-air style earphones very much. They allow me to be totally aware of my local environment while really enjoying listening and getting some real work done at the same time too. They are even quite light and comfortable on my ears for a very long interval (> ~2-3 hours at a time) even while using reading glasses. They sound great to my ears to boot! In addition, they act as an excellent FM antenna for my Sony SRF-M37W AM/FM/Weatherband pocket radio. The extra ~1/2 m length of cable makes a very big reception difference on FM stations in comparison to the original Sony quality earphones that came with the SRF-M37W. Even with the very long cord they are very easy to roll up and carry in a shirt or pants pocket without any problems, especially compared to the traditional Sony earphones that came with my pocket radio. They were my Father's day gift this year and they are very much appreciated!

  • Good but not very loud
    By ANURHL3T42CDG on 2003-07-18
I decided to buy these headphones when my old pair busted. When I first put them on they were very uncomfertable, but eventually they conform to your ear and become surprisingly sturdy and comfertable. The sound on these headphones is superb the bass is extremely good compared to any headphones and especially for their size, however they do not get very loud but most of the time this is not a problem.
So all in all a great system for the price and size but not very loud.
    -Reccomend highly
