LAUGHTER FOR ALL AGES!! By A2JZJL8QXXLZ12 on 2005-12-28
I just went to a party last night with about 20 people. Now all of these people aren't the kind who would say, "OK! Let's play a board game tonite!". You know those kind of people. Well, someone brought out Apples to Apples. I had never played it before and was curious about it. Everyone wanted to play it! We played for hours because everyone was having so much fun! It was fun argueing about whose card was the best. My favorite was when the green card was 'desperate' and someone put 'Bill Clinton'. For those of you who don't know how to play, this is the version I played last night. We seperated into teams and each team got 7 red cards (nouns). Then, one green card (adjective) is flipped over. Each round, there is a different judge. So if your team is the judge, you don't put out a card for that round. So say the green card is 'weird'. And your 7 red cards are 'bubbles, cheap motel, inside the sun, a high school bathroom, bill clinton, james dean, and italy'. You have to pick the card that is the most weird. Each team picks their card and gives it to the judging team. They pick which card is the weirdest and gives the green card that said 'weird' to the team with the weirdest red card. You win when you get 5 green cards. This game is certainly fun for all ages!!
This game is fantastic! By A22DOJMD1OQDSJ on 2004-10-16
As far as games that exercise your noodle this probably edges out cranium. Even though it seems really simple with having 7 nouns and trying to match up the best one with the adjective on the card in the middle the interactions that occur between contestants is great. Some people try to convince the judge that theirs is awesome, while other players specifically save cards for certain judges even if the adjective doesn't match up perfectly. This is less of a game about perfectly matching up a noun with an adjective and more about all the social interactions that follow.
Great Family Game!!! By A1RZVN61PBSI26 on 2006-07-23
Apples to Apples is the best game to play with your whole family!! You get dealt 7 red cards. The dealer(which changes every hand) puts down a green card. Say the green card says funny on it. You would choose one of your cards that best describes funny. You put that card face down in the middle of the table.(note that the dealer does not put a card down) Once everyone has put down their card, the dealer mixes them together and looks at them. They choose the red card that they think is the best description of funny. Whoever put down the card that the dealer chose, gets the green card. You need a certain amount of green cards depending on the amount of players to win. You always have seven red cards in your hand. You get a new red card after every hand. I have played this game numerous times and I have never been bored when I was playing it. I highly suggest getting this game!!
Really Cool Game! By A1YRYIK01PE003 on 2006-01-02
I played this game for the very first time at a New Year's Eve party. Just like the other reviewer said there were about 20 of us there and we weren't the ones to all sit down and say let's play a board game, but they broke it out and we all sat down to play. We didn't get into teams as that person did. We each played on our own with our 7 cards and 1 person being the judge of all our answers. We would go around in circles with everybody taking turns at being a judge. It was so much fun. We would read all the things that the card was NOT and then we would reveil the answer. That is why I'm online right now to find and order that game, because it was just such a great party game, NOT because I came out the winner!!! lol
A great buy By A3ATKIU6MZZ4MU on 2006-07-11
This is one of my favorite family games. It can easily be played by a large number of people, which is always a good thing. Essentially, in this game each player is given seven "red apple" cards, each of which has a noun on it, such as "a school cafeteria," "the FBI," or "sharks." Each card also has a little bonus description or joke, such as "many species living today are similar to those from 100 million years ago. Because change is scary." Each round, a different player is "it," and flips over a "green apple" card, which ahs an adjective on it, such as "hardworking," "foreign," or "shy." The other players each choose on of their noun cards they feel the "it" player will choose as being the best match for the flipped-over adjective. The player whose "red apple" card is chosen keeps the "green apple" card- first player to reach a certain number of green cards wins.
This game is a lot of fun- it has next to no set up and can easily be transported without the box if the occasion arises. Works well with large or small groups, and with people you know well or are getting to know. It is a really good buy.
Although this version does not have the nice shiny cover, it's still just as good.
- Fun Fun Fun
     By A12E78L9515IF6 on 2007-01-10
Fun for a family of four or more, and for a couples get together. I only read about this game in Amazon, and I kinda liked what I read, but believe me it is Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. We started playing it, and it doesn't take much to learn. I love to win some of the rounds in this game, but I have to admit the fights with the judges are fun too. This never failed to amaze me. We played it over a dozen of time now, and we only had it since Christmas. Every game has it's moments. If you like party games this one is for you. If you like arguments this one is also for you. If you like to make jokes this one is for you too. Man you should see what some of these cards say!!! :)
- Fun even for us big kids
     By AM5W5XORSN6RE on 2003-11-23
On a cold Saturday night when no one wanted to go out, my friend pulled out Apples to Apples and a case of beer. The combination of the two kept four 20-somethings entertained for hours. One example that I can remember: The Green card theme was "Most Insane." The 3 red cards that were thrown down were "Waco, Texas," "The Far Right," and "Having a Baby." Needless to say, "The Far Right" was the winner. This is a great game to play with friends who have a good sense of humor, as the game can get very silly and sarcastic. It's also fun to choose which card to play based on the humor/personality of the judge. You can also skew the rules a bit and have everyone plead their case before picking the winner. This can result in an uproar as your tipsy friends argue as to why "Bruce Willis" beats "Plane Crashes" in the "Most Deadly" catagory. Overall, a great way to turn a blah evening into a fun time.
- Great fun for family or parties!
     By A1SCZBFF4UFUNX on 2004-07-08
This is a really fun and hilarious game. I own a ton of games and this is one of my favorites. The only problem is that you need at least four people to play. The more people, the better the game.It takes about two seconds to teach people to play. The game moves very fast and is over quickly. We usually play three or four games. Everyone is laughing and we have a great time. Nobody's feelings get hurt. This crate edition is worth the money because you get tons of cards. We go through a lot of cards every time we play, so it's nice to have so many. Have fun!
- Let's see, what's more "serious"...frogs or bubbles?
     By AKK4DR2AT8QE3 on 2005-09-03
This is the absolute best game I've ever played (and that's saying something!). It's amazing to see what people can come up with for each adjective. Either be straight or funny, either way it's hilarious! Just be careful not to have to big a group playing, as it gets more time consuming and takes longer for people to win.
- A New Christmas Tradition
     By A3QERTQU0T1QOC on 2005-01-12
Our family Christmas traditions include watching it's a wonderful life and scrooge. After playing Apples to Apples for the first time this Christmas, we are adding it to our annual holiday rituals! So much fun! So many laughs!
- must have game
     By AX97S2YYGORLY on 2004-07-24
This is an absolutly awesome game. It is fun to play for a variety of ages and even people with diverse interests can have fun with this for hours at a time. It is simple to learn and it is sure to bring non-stop laughs to your group. You'll find yourself playing this again and again.
- Great fun for the whole family, but know your audience!
     By A1AAIOH7OINNHE on 2005-09-29
Make time to sit down and enjoy this game with friends or family. We played with children as young as 10 (having to explain in some cases). Despite the generation gap, it was still a lot of fun for everyone.
- Apples to Apples best game hands down.
     By A3UA3NU7F670F3 on 2007-06-11
This game crosses all ages and is a great game to play with a group of friends, a diverse group who does not know each other well, and with a mixed age group, kids, grandparents etc. What is particularly nice is, that while there is a strategy ( play to the decider each round) one does not need to be a deep thinker, or a trivia wiz, or even good with numbers to win. It is a truly democratic game; each persons vote matters, and its just plain fun.
- A Great Party Game
     By A2YBVY73M7CWAZ on 2007-07-29
This game is so much fun! Everyone seems to like it. It can just go on and on and on and on and no one gets tired of playing. A great party game, particularly for a group of people with diverse interests and talents.
The kid version's fun too. They just use simpler words and fewer celebrities.
- Easy to learn, fun to play, lots of laughs
     By A3EXIZUDLT9YZE on 2007-01-09
You deal the cards, show the green apple card, everybody turns in a red apple card, and hilarity ensues. Each hand inspires discussion and chuckles. I liked the variations suggested in the instructions, such as dealing all green (adjective) cards and finding the best match for a red (noun) card, or trying to find the least-fitting match, or just turning in a red card blindly before seeing what the green card says. The judge can determine how to play the hand, and my favorite part, the decision of the judge is completely arbitrary, meaning you can pick whichever card you like. It's easy, fun, and a game can be as long or short as you like. There is a lot of shuffling involved, since you will go through a lot of cards quickly, so have someone on hand who knows how to shuffle a deck of cards. Recommended.

Apples to Apples is great fun! We have made multiple purchases of this game. Playing it in groups of widely varying backgrounds can cause fits of laughter or incredulous, aghast looks. We have played this game on 3 continents - N. America, Europe, and Asia. Playing cross culturally and with people whose first language is not English, brings a new perspective. For example, playing with a Japanese Diplomat and his wife we were taken aback by his playing the card "Bombing Pearl Harbor" for a match to "Fabulous". Definitely different strokes for different folks! A family in China had so much fun playing the game that we bought a game set and sent it to them. Like I said - it is great fun!
- A Great addition to any Family Game Night
     By ABUU82UUR56FQ on 2007-01-11
This was a real fun game. Easy to learn for the whole family. We even had our five year old intereseted and playing along. The best thing about this game is the arbitrary nature of how the winning card is chosen. It can be completly random. Some of the cards laid down for a given question can be really wacky making for a fun and entertaining experience for young and old alike. We litteraly had ages ranging from 5 to 76 playing one night and everyone was laughing and having fun. The crate edition is made of very strudy wood which should ensure the game will be kept in good shape longer than in a cardboard box. The game is worth every penney...

Apples to Apples Crate Edition was a big hit. I gave it to my niece for Christmas and the entire family ( I was in Florida for Christmas ) said it was a big hit and fun to play!

This game is so great as a way to get a group talking. I love the huge selection of cards and the millions of ways people can play them. I have played this game for hours at a time and loved the interaction and fun. You will too.

This is the best game in the history of the world! It is great fun for kids and adults alike. The way you play is that one person is the judge, and the other people are the players. The judge deals a green card with an adjective on it. The other players put one of five of their red cards down the judge then decides which card best fits the adjective. The winner gets the grren card. Some times it can be hilarious. The first to five cards wins! Don't go one more day without Apples to Apples!

     By A297HG0BK6VLKK on 2004-05-16
I had never heard of this game until about a week ago. I watched a round of it, then joined in. This game is a great amount of fun for all to have. Not only is it educational, because the cards give you info. about the people or words, but it is fun to see how other people view the words given. I am a new fan of this game, and I can not wait to bring it into my home and share it with my family.
- mmm apples
     By A1RDOFHT0JU3P8 on 2004-07-24
I first learned and played this game at a speech tournament that I was competing in. It was so fun I couldnt wait to play it again. The more creative you are makes the game funnier (but you don't need to be creative to play or win). I think that it is the best in a large group. We still play this at speech tournament often and my friends and I love to play it everytime we get together. Apples to Apples is an extremely fun game to play anytime and it only takes a few minutes to learn.

     By AE27IREZPQ7A1 on 2007-01-11
This game is a great game no matter your age. I am a college student; I have played with parents, friends, my younger siblings and more. It is so much fun, easy to explain and well worth it! I recommend it. The larger games' packs are good for larger parties b/c you go through the cards so fast. ENJOY!!!
- GREAT FAMILY GAME
     By A34F6GJRI9Q2IC on 2007-01-11
We first played with 12 people...lots of fun.
The second time with only 4 people it was not as much fun..the more people the more fun.
- This is NOT a fun game
     By A19WL504QVWNGV on 2007-07-27
I'm sorry, but this is the least challenging, most boring game! One of my favorite games is "Taboo" but if you play it enough, it gets so you can remember the cards you are guessing (somewhat). My idea of fun games: BOGGLE, SCRABBLE. If you want a game for all ages: give each person an educational book and ask each person to write down 5 questions (they also have to mark the book and page or remember the answers). Each person asks their questions, the others write down their answers. Then each person gives their correct answers and you see who got the most right. It is educational and fun! (Kind of like: Are you smarter than a 5th grader)!!!
- Apples to Apples top's our game list

What a fun game to play at parties both big and small and for such a varied age group! Wish I had come up with the idea! We bought the crate edition for its durability....these parties can get pretty wild!
