The Dynamic Duo of Technology By A12VF2H2CWKQGQ on 2003-05-22
I just received my cordless mx duo and have to say that this is by far the best keyboard and mouse I have ever owned. The keyboard is whisper quiet, the mouse is so responsive I sometimes think it's telepathic, and the enclosed software (this refers to the Mac OS X software) is top-notch, easy to use and programmable to your liking, plus incredibly stable. The price alone for both products (and only having to deal with one cordless transmitter and losing only one USB port) is reason enough to buy them together instead of separately. Even if you're thinking of just getting a new mouse, or a new keyboard, get them both and watch your amazement at how wonderful these two products work seemlessly together. Even the keyboard has a little scroll wheel and internet buttons if you don't feel like reaching over to your mouse (which also has a scroll wheel) or taking your hands off the keyboard because you're busily typing. This is one mouse and keyboard that even Microsloth can't copy (their late-in-the-game accessories are made by hewlett-packard and redistributed under the MS logo) just yet. But give them time. ;)Every button on each Logitech product is fully configurable, but you may not want to fiddle around in the Logitech control panel. The default settings are already intuitive, and the mouse feels so good under your palm, you'll probably be saying goodbye to sore wrists in no time! Speaking of which, the mouse is incredibly smooth and responsive (for a cordless optical), and you have to wonder how they did it. Which I did, and I learned that it uses the very latest in cutting-edge RF technology. If you're a graphic designer, or even a regular computer user, you will not regret this purchase. People who have tried my mouse and keyboard were simply stunned by its incredible looks, feel, and handling. And so will you. Though your boss may think you're not working because the keyboard is so quiet!
Only one snag By A18QCVCK6DO8DT on 2003-10-29
I've only been using the keyboard and mouse for a couple of days, but am pretty happy so far. My MX 700 isn't having any trouble on a semi-glossy table top and the range is nice. So far, the only problems have been these:1. After installing software from included CD-ROM, mouse stopped working (I assume an issue with microsoft mouse driver or old mouseware compatibility, not sure). I restored my setting and downloaded the newest mouseware from logitech indivually and it worked fine. 2. F11 and F12 keys are supposed to go to "My Pictures," and "My Music" respectively, but they are instead linked to "Owner's Pictures," and "Owner's Music." Running XP with different users, I want the F11 and F12 keys to be user specific. I have contacted Logitech and will update if the problem is solved (I have downloaded the most recent i-Touch software). Overall, a very nice product so far. Even if the F11/F12 doesn't straighten out, I would probably only drop to 4 1/2 stars. Nice design and functionality. The mouse is ultra usable in that all 8 buttons are useful. *****UPDATE--Problem worked out. Under configure for F key, had to choose "open folder" and another pull-down appears to let you browse what you would like to link to an F key. Also, logitech customer service was surprisingly friendly and useful.
Fantastic keyboard and mouse. Minor aesthetic issue. By ABPHXUTRR0SGN on 2005-01-11
I've been using the Logitech Cordless MX Duo for a few months now of constant use. I am a big time typer and gamer and have easily but this keyboard and mouse combination through over 1000 hours of use.
The keyboard works great and does not have any latency at all, even when typing at extremely high speeds in excess of 120 WPM. The spacebar and return key on my keyboard are constantly struck, but they continue to work fine. After typing more than ten pages of text a day, all the keys are still responsive and feel the same when struck as when the keyboard was originally purchased. My keyboard has been running on its original set of batteries for months and hasn't slowed down whatsoever. The spacebar hasn't even shown any wear on the plastic which is the first time I've seen such a trait on a heavily used keyboard's spacebar.
The mouse also works very well with great response both in the OS and games alike. The mouse needs to be charged often, but as long as it's in the cradle for a few hours at a time every other day or so, it works fine.
The only problem I've been having with this combination wireless set is purely with aesthetics. The mouse paint is slowly starting to wear off due to heavy usage, exposing the white and silver plastic beneath. The areas showing the most wear are on the left mouse button, the base where my palm rests, and the left hand side where my thumbs rests. In these areas small patches no more than a few millimeters across have developed, completely revealing the plastic underneath.
All in all, this is a great keyboard and mouse combination for both the typical and hardcore computer user. If you don't plan on using your keyboards for hundreds of hours on end then it is highly unlikely that you will see the wear issues I described. If you will be using it constantly, and aesthetics aren't a concern, than I highly recommend this combination set from Logitech. For the average user of course, this keyboard rocks - plain and simple.
Great combo, but some limitations and poor design choices By A7LKH5JP9MD37 on 2003-07-06
My faithful keyboard of about seven years died suddenly. I decided to spring for a wireless keyboard and mouse. I've never used wireless keyboards or mice before, so I can't compare the responsiveness of these devices to anything but wired devices.I can't complain about the mouse. It's really responsive, the buttons are nicely customizable. I've found one app that ignores the "cruise scroll" buttons. "Universal Scroll" works in relatively few programs, and when it does work, it goes WAY too fast to be useful. These are both very minor issues, and this is a huge improvement over both the mouse and trackball I was using before (I still use the trackball sometimes). I'm less impressed with the keyboard. I often find myself typing ahead of what's appearing on screen, which has never happened to me with a wired keyboard (except over a slow modem connection). Additionally, many of the buttons assume I'm a MicroSoftie. iTouch buttons configured to launch URL's don't work in Mozilla 1.4 (they do nothing). Same with the iNav "Go" button. Function keys set up for email functions don't work in Eudora 4 (they do nothing, and cannot be reconfigured to the point of assigning a key combination to force them to work with your email client). "Favorites" opens Internet Explorer and its Favorites sidebar, despite Mozilla being my default browser. The iNav "back" button is pretty unresponsive when using it in "forward" mode (shift-back. You have to let up on both "shift" and "back", making multiple rapid "forwards" hard to do). There are also two incredibly poor design choices made that will require you to change your habits around the limitations of the hardware. First, there are no LEDs on the keyboard, which means that if you want to quickly check to see if Caps Lock or Num Lock is on, you need to look at the base station (or an on-screen display). Second, the base station needs to be placed at least 8" away from other electronic devices, yet it comes with a very short 4-5' cord. With a full tower case on the floor on one side of the desk, this severely limits placement (Logitech suggests AGAINST using a hub, like in some monitors, a switchbox, or an extension cord). When I move in a few months, I'm going to need to design my new computer layout based on the limitations of the Cordless MX Duo base station's short cord! Overall, the convenience of going wireless has won me over, and none of the "problem keys" on the keyboard are essential. The time lag issue is not significant. The only issues that I think are significant are the hardware design issues I mentioned. Those will be an annoyance for years to come. I'd rate it a 3.5/5, but since I can't, I'm choosing 3 instead of 4. Some of these issues may be resolved with future software updates, but the worst of the issues cannot be resolved without replacing hardware. ** Note - since writing this review, I took someone's advice and placed the base station where ever I wanted to (right near the monitor, in my case). Despite Logitech's warnings to the contrary, I've noticed _no_ difference in performance or reliability since doing this. This also makes NumLock and CapsLock more easily viewable than if I were to follow Logitech's advice.
Nearly flawless By AW07UB99JOIL on 2003-07-22
I've been using my new mx duo for only a few days now and have very little if any gripes. Both the keyboard and mouse are as reliable as a corded mouse and keyboard, the mouse battery seems to me more than enough to last users. I consider myself a hardcore gamer and when i get on the comp I spend at least 4 hours straigt playing games or powerbrowsing and this duo works breat for both. The mouse is more responsive than my old wired mouse without the hassle of a cord, the mouse also has lots of little features to make browsing the internet and gaming more efficient. The keyboard is great and well made but this is the only area I have grips in, lack of a cap, num or scroll lock light on the keyboard and lackof ingame cap lock change support (or at least in counterstrike) but these are all minor for a very comfortable featureful keyboard. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
- Much better than expected!!

After I drowned my last mouse (they don't swim), I finally had an excuse to get the cordless optical mouse I had been eyeing for a while. This cordless mouse/keyboard duo doesn't disappoint. This is a great set all around, but I thought I'd address some concerns or trouble points I've read in other reviews: Mouse Accuracy: Some people have complained about the mouse jumping around the screen, moving in the wrong direction or being unresponsive. The key here is to make sure to use the risht surface for your mouse and its optical eye. I had some similar problems until I found the right surface for the mouse. I'm using a pad with a dark, slightly coarse surface, and the mouse works flawlessly, much better in fact than my old corded trackball mouse. Mouse Battery Life: Fully charged, the batteries last through 2 days of heavy gaming. With the rechargeable base, leave it to recharge at night and you'll never have a problem. Should the charge happen to run low, a quick 10 minute charge in the base will get you going again. If you can't get through a full day on a charge, try new batteries or exchange the charger base, because something's wrong. Media key Compatibility: make sure you download the lastest software updates from the Logitech website. Yhe media keys work on all my programs, including itunes, windows media, and sonic cineplayer. Even a lesser known program, like Quintessential Player works fine. No Caps lock or Scroll lock lights on keyboard: I would assume this is obvious, as having lights on the keyboard would drain the keyboard batteries unnecessarily. The Num lock and Cap lock lights are on the charger base. Radio Interference: I have my charger about 10 inches away from my cpu, 1 foot away from my monitor and 2 feet away from my 2.4 Gigahertz cordless phone. No problems at all. I have also had no problems with channel interference between the mouse and keyboard. On-screen display interferes with games: I haven't experienced this problem myself, but there is an option to turn the on-screen display off. I would think this would solve the problem. All in all, this is a great, feature packed duo. More programmable buttons on the keyboard than you will probably use, with a great feel to the keys as well. The 8 button mouse may seem a little confusing or "busy" at first, but in no time you'll be wondering how you lived without them. Two minor gripes: The volume dial has a short delay before it kicks in. This can be annoying if you're not paying attention as your music may be playing a lot louder than expected if you're not careful. Also, no manual at all. It's features are easy enough to discover on your own, but at quick reference guide at the very least, would have been nice.
- The best keyboard and the best mouse from Logitech in one!!
     By A30FNMU6CC5B42 on 2003-10-21
Let's first start with a brief history on Logitech, they've been making top keyboard and mice for quite some time now, but since Windows XP they've put out a line of "MX" products, and so have many other people, the software developing studio Macromedia for example. This line-up has mice from top performance to budget price experience, ranging from the MX300 to the cordless MX900.(Atleast at the time of writing this!) The MX300 is pretty much a standerd mouse of about 30bucks, and the MX900 is a hefty 120$ mouse with bluetooth technoligy. Now, the review: The keyboard is one I've had my eye on, but it wasn't available cordless without a "crappy" mouse, but with the MX700 (more about that bad boy latter in the review) this was getting very interesting, and it was 120euro so it wasn't cheap but it was well worth the money, the keyboard is funtional because it has an "F-Lock" which lets U assign completely new funtions to the F-Keys with the touch of this F-Lock button, pretty nifty if you ask me, and especially helpful for grandma or even your kity :D but ofcourse also helps me with my workflow from time to time, and the INav wheel can prove useful when configured to something other than scrolling :) And now that's just performance, it types extremely well with it's semi-milky buttons and doesn't hurt your fingers very much at all, and the design is ace...sleek black with a silver finish, almost makes me wanna take him to bed, well maybe not that extreme but it looks very very nice! Now for the mouse: It has 8 buttons, which means added workflow when browsing and more buttons at your fingertips in games.(NOTE: Most games only support the thumb buttons, some support everything, others don't support any other than the scrollwheel and 2 primary buttons) and as with the keyboard this is a graphical beauty this is a beauty AND a beast, a big mean weightlifting chick...hah, sounds good 2 me ;) That also means it's quite heavy and the batteries will need to be reloaded (through the cradle or if you use re-charable "fat" battries at home) about every 10-15hours. I also advise getting a mousepad from Ratpadz, Icepad, or Everglide...it will give you more life battery, and increase the accuracy on this baby, and do NOT get me wrong, this is 1 optical cordless mouse that does NOT lag! Now the bad points summed up: -The keyboard could use Num-Lock, Scroll-Lock and Caps Lock lights, but those ARE on the cradle...and it saves the battries of the keyboard so, it's understandable but it is a con. -The "Media" button supports alot of media players like Winamp for music and PowerDVD for movies, but not everything! -I can't get fast forward/rewind to work, it always automaticly switches to the next track. -Now for the mouse it is a little getting used 2 at first, but it's doable and not at all to the point where it's annoying. -Not all games support every button on the MX700 and some games will flip when you turn on the Num-Lock in when in a game. ---------------- Overall: A kick-ass pick for your next keyboard+mouse combo, wether it be if you wanna go wireless that's perfectly possible now without any lag and dead on accuracy, or you just want the sexiest hunk 'o combo on the market, Microsoft is losing with the release of this product, and that's good news...bring on competition -> prices lower, so the consummer is ALL for it, don't get me wrong though..this is a hefty 100$ so it ain't cheap, not by a LONG shot!
- Best in Wireless Mouse/Keyboard Technology
     By A3NIB2ARQLIAH5 on 2003-06-24
I found the Logitech MX Duo keyboard mouse combo after originally buying Microsoft's Wireless Desktop combo product. I was extremely dissappointed with the Microsoft Wireless desktop as it never worked properly (Specifically, the wireless mouse). The microsoft keyboard was nice, but the mouse was highly erratic, slow, and choppy. I went through all of the troubleshooters, to no avail. Alas, after reading numerous positive reviews I purchased Logitech's new MX duo. Right out of the box, I could tell the fit and finish were superior to the MS Wireless Desktop. The major difference between the two products is the performance of the wireless mouse. The MX 700 is more ergonomic, heavier, and comes with more features than the MS Wireless Optical Mouse. Most importantly, it works! It works beautifully! Just like a corded optical mouse, which is important if you need exact control in design programs and gaming. I highly recommend this product.
- Excellent Product
     By A347TL78TMSAP8 on 2004-01-19
I bought this product roughly 6 months ago and have nothing but praise for its performance to date.
General thoughts:
1) No-wires - Fewer tangles under my computer which is tangled regardless. I personally have found I really do not need a wireless keyboard as far as using it remotely from my computer. However, I have had ideas of using this for gatherings and presentations, especially when used in conjunction with a projector.
2) Batteries - I have not had to replace the batteries at all yet. The mouse batteries run for an extremely long time and I find it is a long while before it tells me it needs to be recharged. Speaking the charger. I have the remote unit located fairly close to my monitor and without a longer cord (as provided by logitech) I do not see how I could follow their instructions of keeping it relateivly far away. That said, I've had zero problems with using this unit.
3)Ease of install (btw, I have just backed away from my computer about 7 feet from my computer while writing this review and am experiencing zero lag while typing this.) I would go onto say that I had little difficulty in installing ths product, but do consider myself to be an above average computer user and it may be easier for me than other people. Logitech does provide a quick-start guide, so you should be able to follow along and get the unit working.
Overall, this is a high quality product and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Update May 2007: Wrote the review in 2004. First removed the batteries from the keyboard just two months ago! Great keyboard and mouse still.
- great quality, works awesome
     By AW8YACI7RNNC on 2003-06-10
The MX duo comes with the MX700 optical mouse, which is a good idea if you're into gaming, because it has a higher response rate compared to other cordless mice. Also, what's nice is that although the keyboard and mouse need batteries, the keyboard supposedly lasts months, and the mouse comes with a base station / receiver to charge the mouse (using an included rechargeable battery.) As long as you keep it in the receiver/base station when you're not using for stretches of time, it'll always be charged. Also, the mouse has a little light that blinks its battery status. Both mouse and keyboard are very comfortable, and I'm getting used to all the buttons. I'm happy with my purchase!
- Very impressed

I own both the Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse as well as the Logitech MX Duo. The Logitech is by FAAAR the better product of the two.1. There is no lag when using the keyboard and mouse. None. 2. The mouse charger is FAST! It will be nice never having to buy new batteries for it (instead of biweekly for the Bluetooth). 3. The buttons on the keyboard autoconfigured themselves very well, automatically configuring to use Winamp and Eudora. I only had to change a couple settings. 4. The keyboard and mouse were found automatically, I didn't even have to use the connect buttons (in order to get a secure keyboard connection it is necessary, but still simple). The benefit of this is that unlike with the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, you don't need a second keyboard to get things setup. 5. The keyboard and mouse work before Windows even finishes loading, no waiting for drivers to load as with the Bluetooth. 6. None of the problems that I had the the Microsoft setup. No stuck keys, and no losing peripherals. I like this product a great deal, and at this point I don't have any complaints. It feels good to have a wireless keyboard and mouse the way it should be.
- The best keyboard and mouse I have ever used.
     By A1NLZ3UGX1VLJT on 2004-07-08
I used to own the older mouse/keyboard set from logitech with the MX500, then I upgraded to this set.The keyboard looks really nice, is not too heavy, and only requires 2 AA batteries, which still haven't run out. Each key seems to have its own switch, and the whole keyboard is designed so that an accidental spillage will not damage it. Although the software doesn't seem to work with Mozilla Firefox, the extra buttons are still very useful. The mouse is the MX700, which is probably one of the best mice on the market. Although some people claim it's too heavy, I don't find this a problem. The extra 5 buttons are very useful, especially for games. Like the keyboard, the mouse software isn't too great though, however this really isn't a problem. The dock for the mouse also acts as the tranceiver for both keyboard and mouse, and also includes all the keyboard lights (which obviously could not be put on a wireless keyboard). Charges last for around 3 days, and when your mouse is running out of power, a very obvious red light flashes on the top. The only real problem I've seen so far is that it can be a bit awkward to put the mouse into the dock so that it will charge. I think this could be related to build up of garbage on the contacts underneath the mouse. It all works fine with Linux as well, no problems. 'imps2' mouse type if you were wondering. Overall, I would recommend this keyboard and mouse to anyone (although people with small hands may have a problem using it). It's worth every cent.

I've had all of them, elite duo, then the mx700 mouse and a corded keyboard since the MX700 when released was not available in a kit. The elite DUO had its shortcomings, used batteries in the mouse that didnt last, keyboard took about 6AA's. The MX700 has been a great mouse since its inception. The best DPI rate you can get in a cordless mouse (even better than most corded ones), but in exchange for the higher resolution, it drains batteries. Not a big deal now since it is a rechargeable unit. I've had the pleasure of completely wearing out one MX700 so far and will say its a great mouse. Here are the first things to go:1. Stick on feet underneath the mouse wore off - it appears they might have fixed this, on my new mouse they are configured slightly different and are a different material. 2. Charging contacts started to corrode - I ended up towards the end taking some sandpaper and scraping the corrosion off the contacts so it could charge on the base. 3. Batteries wore out - to be expected, rechargeable batteries dont last forever right? Mine lasted about as long as the mouse. 4. Units will conflict with other logitech keyboards and mice - I have as mentioned another MX700 and the Elite DUO. The keyboards are identical and will cross connect and even interfere with each other. I dont seem to have any problems with the keyboards interfereing with each other, but the Duo mouse seems to cause my MX mouse to have problems clicking. I dont use the computer its on often so I pop the batteries out of the DUO mouse so it wont cause a problem. Be careful about any of these devices within 8 - 11 feet of yours. So if you're at work, the person next to you with either setup will probably cause you some problems as you them. I managed to use the MX700 stand alone mouse for about 9 months, which is pretty good for me. I'm very hard on products such as this. I recall slamming it down on my desk a few times while playing a game online and something kinda bad happened :), its also fell off on to the floor more times than i can count. So expect it to last substantially longer under average use, especially if you're kind to it. They've improved both units since the earlier versions. Apart from the notes i have on the mouse above, the keyboard only requires 2 AA batteries. From the 3 of these keyboards i've owned in the past, i've never had to put new batteries in other than the included ones in the package. A TIP: I've forgotten to put the mouse on the charger several times. Since I often play online games (yes it works quite well for me gaming for those of you out there) I end up wearing out the charge in about 2 days of use, were talkin heavy use here too. Keep a set of 2 AA alkaline batteries around if you really need to keep using the mouse but the red "charge" light comes on. Generally when the light comes on, you have about 30 minutes left before its dead. In my experience, the alkalines will last a good 3 - 7 days of medium to heavy use (medium = 4 hours a day, heavy = 12+).
- Keyboard+Mouse+Software==An Amazing Thing!!
     By A2XWPITOZL1KQ9 on 2004-01-29
When I decided I needed a new keyboard and mouse I went looking for 3 things: 1. Wireless Optical Mouse 2. Wireless Keyboard with Multimedia Controls and a Flat Profile 3.A Base that Only Uses One USB Port 4.A Range that Would Fill my Dorm Room The Keyboard: The keyboard is everything I could imagine and more, the keys are comfortable and make a wonderful clacking sound when I type. Everything is clearly labeled, and there are even labels for all the more common keyboard shortcuts, such as "undo" and "save" on the front side of the keys. The great thing about the keyboard is that it controls my media programs without making me change windows. I even use the special-function keys more than I would have thought, especially the great scroll wheel included on the keyboard. Also, I have written many a paper already and I am still on the original batteries included by Logitech, and I have a feeling they will last another month. The Mouse: The Mouse is an amazing piece of hardware by itself. I have never used a more accurate mouse, optical, wireless or otherwise. It works great for everything from Photoshop to first person shooter games. Admittedly it is clearly designed for the right-handed, the back and forward buttons being placed for the thumb on the right hand. How about those extra buttons! I use the navigation button so much that when I go to the computer lab I find myself hitting the side of the mouse with my thumb. I love the scroll buttons I almost wish they could replace the scroll wheel, and they often work in applications that will not accept universal scroll wheel and vice versa. I use the application switching button more than I ever used the alt-tab button combination. The batteries have never run out on me, I use my computer for most of my entertainment in my room and only put the mouse in its cradle at night. Finally, it is unbelievably comfortable, not to mention that its sleek shape is easy on the eyes. The Software: I have to admit that for all its usefulness the iTouch software included by Logitech is the most utilitarian part of this set. But for all of that it took five minutes to install, twenty minutes to customize, and works great. I love the green/red display that Logitech uses to let you know when you are using one of the special-function buttons. It shows up at the bottom of the screen unobtrusively and is gone in less than a second. This display makes it much easier to adjust the volume, I'm not just hitting buttons blindly anymore, now I know when the volume is on mute and I'm just going to hurt my ears by turning it up. To address some of the complaints by other reviewers: 1. The multimedia buttons do work with iTunes 2. The base station has a relatively small profile I just put it next to one of my speakers and I can always see the display 3. Even if I couldn't see the base station, Logitech conveniently places an alert at the bottom of the screen when you use any of the "special buttons, " and in addition it is easy to check just by clicking on the iTouch icon in the system tray 4. I use Netscape and although the universal scroll doesn't work, the scroll buttons do and Logitech makes updates all the time, and they are easy to check and install with the included software.
- Wireless is and useful.
     By A31Y316PIE6PKC on 2003-12-29
This is a pretty impressive bundle. Sure, you can get the wireless mouse, but why not the keyboard as well? It's worth the buck...I've used these for a week, and I haven't been disappointed. The hub attaches to both the keyboard and mouse port on your PC, so you don't really need a free USB port, unless you want to use it on a laptop. In either case, the keyboard is very responsive. I can't see any difference between this one and the corded one I had before, which was Logitech as well. It works just as good, if not better. I can even take it across the room and type up a report while I'm reclining in my comfortable seat! It's just like the commercial... The mouse is a little different. I had a Microsoft Intellimouse before, the white one with five buttons. It was a good mouse, but it felt plastic and cheap. Also, when I moved it quickly, the cursor would just fly off faster than I could see it. This mouse, the MX700, is fantastic. Because it's wireless, it uses AA batteries, so it's quite a bit heavier than the Microsoft. It takes some time to get used to it, but after a while, it's not a problem. Also, the movement is much smoother than before and there is no detectable lag at all! The rechargeable batteries are a good addition. Just put the mouse on the hub when the light goes on and after a short time you're ready to go again. It saves a lot of money. The minor complaint I have, which really doesn't deter from enjoyment of the product is that if you leave the mouse for too long and you want to move it again, it takes about a second for it to wake up. After that, it works as it did before. It's not a big deal really. The benefits surely outweigh the costs. Also, as I expected, I freed up a mile of space on my desk without these wires running around. It's much more useful to be able to put other things on the desk where I couldn't before. And, I find that it's better to use the mouse without a mousepad. It seems to impede movement slightly. It's much easier without it. It's a good thing too. I have more freedom to move it around now. If you're looking for an upgrade that's as cool as it is useful, this is a good buy. The batteries last, and the charger helps. These are just as good as wired peripherals, and they're mobile. Can't go wrong with Logitech...
- Flawless

I was just playing with the unit so that I could add some more items to this review. Things that the mouse will work well on: My shirt, my wood desk, the side of my printer, a calkboard, the wall, the carpet. It does not work well on my hair.
I believe I am on my 3rd workday (that means 7+ hours of use per day) without a recharge and the mouse still does not need to be charged. I'm able to use both the mouse and keyboard up to a distance of about 10 feet away from the base.
For those of you concerned that you may need any extra items, you won't. The package comes with everything you need to get up and running. When I bought the Duo I was a little worried that I'd need a separate radio transmitter card and that fear was unfounded. The radio reciever is included and it just plugs right into where your wired mouse and keyboard plug in.
I think it is hard to go wrong with this product.

This combination product works great - just super. Others will tell you about that.
I am here to tell you about customer service. My keyboard went out after I owned the system for 5 months. The rep & I tried to reboot it, this did not work, and WITHIN 3 business days I had a NEW KEYBOARD, MOUSE, and BASE STATION. Standing behind your product does not get better than that.
- Cordless is good.
     By A7QYHLIRZLMLQ on 2004-07-15
After having experienced countless occassions of lacking some (both keyboard and mouse) cordlength while working, I decided to shop around for a cordless set. My eventual decision was for this set; mostly because in the past I've used Logitech hardware before and was very pleased with it. Another reason for picking this one was just because it looked cool. While being one of the more expensive sets on the market, I still am very pleased with the performance of the set as a whole. It does exactly what I expect, and offers great freedom of movement from both the keyboard and the mouse. While not testing the exact range in which the performance will be optimal, it allows me with more than enough flexibility to work (I'm a programmer, by the way). Two minor annoyances I experienced so far: Batterypower for the mouse runs off rather fast. All left to do is either put the mouse on its docking bay, or replace the batteries. The second annoyance is a little weirder. Whenever scrolling down during surfing the web, the browser for some reason registers this as if the 'Back'-button was pressed. Updating the drivers has had no impact on this (yet). To summarise, apart from 2 minor annoyances, this is definitely a very nice set.
- Typical Logitech, but not without its flaws.

All of my Logitech products still work and I still use the optical mouse I reviewed here two years ago. My wife and got Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo to go with a media center PC I cobbled together to go with our 50" Panasonic plasma TV. Typical Logitech- everything works flawlessly right out of the box and they're kind enough to supply batteries for both the mouse and keyboard, (NiMH rechargables for the mouse and Duracells for the keyboard).Basically, you get a recharging base for the mouse that also acts as a receiver for the RF signals. It's a little messy with the wires- power supply and USB+PS2 connectors that attach to the back of the computer. While I suspect signal range is a good 20 or 30 feet, it's doubtful that anyone has the vision to be that far away from their monitor, even a big one. The keyboard has several controls designed to keep hunting for icons at a minimum- volume control, CD/DVD control buttons, plus ones for e-mail, instant messengers, and search engines, it'll even turn on your web cam, and a neat-o scroll wheel on the left side. On the downside, the keyboard feels cheap- it creaks and wobbles slightly because it doesn't sit flat. The feel of all the keys is first rate. Another downside is the mouse- it works great and feels very solid, but it's heavy. Too heavy for gaming, making movements clunky. And unlike the Microsoft web mouse, the Back and Forth buttons that let you flip between web pages quickly are both mounted on the right side and somewhat what awkward to reach. The scroll wheel and everything else works just fine. All in all, a well designed and functional duo, but flawed. I would have prefered more solid construction and a lighter, better designed mouse. Worth owning for sure, and its price is very reasonable.
- Works like the best keyboards out there but without wires

My Optical Intellimouse suddenly dies one day. I think it was the cable because fiddling around with the cord would intermittently make it work. But I digress.I have been eyeing the Logitech Cordless MX mouse ever since it came out. But I always thought it was too expensive. But since they paired it up with the their Wireless Elite keyboard I was sold (Maybe my mouse dying was a sign). I have been thrilled with this product since purchasing it about 4 months ago. The MX mouse works like a dream. It feels heavier than my old mouse, but you get used to that real quick. It's also just as smooth and accurate as my corded optical mouse. And I love not having to deal with the cord. The keyboard has a real solid quality feel. The zero-degree tilt took a bit of getting used to, but that also didn't take long. I love the one-touch and media controls. In effect I can use my keyboard as a remote control for my TV tuner card. In terms of range and battery life, two very big issues with wireless keyboards, I've used my keyboard and mouse while sitting across the room on my sofa in my office. No problems whatsoever at a distance of about 10 feet. I'd say my computer is used about 2-4 hours a day. I have never had to change any batteries either since I bought it. The keyboard comes with alkaline batteries and the mouse is rechargeable in its base. Plus it works fine with my Cybex KVM switch. Dislikes? Maybe minor gripes really. But the volume knob on the keyboard isn't as linear as I'd like in terms of controlling the actual volume. I still find myself using the volume knob on my speakers from time to time. Also I would have liked better control of setting the one-touch keys. Not all of the one-touch keys can be set and some I can't really get to do anything. But I don't really use these keys much anyway so no big deal. Finally I would have liked to have a caps lock LED on the keyboard where you'd expect. The caps lock LED is actually on the mouse cradle. Again all minor gripes for what is absolutely a first rate product.
- The best I've ever used so far
     By A28K2SP51Y3Z2L on 2003-08-20
This keyboard and mouse are the best I've ever used. You can configure the keyboard with one-touch access to menus, programs, websites and windows commands in many, many configurations. The software Logitech uses with the system is excellent, unlike some of the other configurable keyboard software packages I've used (micro-innovation's software is very weak) The wireless reach is long on the keyboard. I can use it like a remote control for my media player from one room away, it's at least 20 feet. The feel of both the keyboard and mouse are excellent.
- Battery charger doesn't work
     By AD1LDXAF5VJVU on 2004-02-04
I bought one of these keyboard/mouse duos and have loved it up until now. The problem w/ mine is that the battery cradle/charger doesn't charge the rechargable batteries. I've gone out and bought new rechargable batteries as Logitech suggested, but now those aren't working either. It's evident the charger doesn't work. I bought one of these for a family member too and they're experiencing the same problems as me. On the more positive side of this.. the keyboard works like a charm.
- The best cordless combo money can buy
     By A1JUFEK4258SE3 on 2004-05-07
I initially ordered a Cordless MX700 mouse, and after loving it so much I decided I would go ahead and get the combo instead. (For my opinion on the mouse check my review on Amazon for the MX700). This review will be about the wireless keyboard. First of all, the keyboard is by far the sexiest I've ever seen. The black just looks so rich and nice. It has all the features you could want on a keyboard and more. It feels VERY nice and comfortable; the keys, layout, tilt, etc are all great. This keyboard actually had the potential of being perfect except for one thing. I would figure due to the fact its cordless, for some reason I usually get a very slight lag when I'm typing. I don't know why because the mouse has never once given any kind of trouble and works flawlessly despite being cordless. This may not be so with all users as I type between 80-100 words per min. At first it was fairly annoying but I've become somewhat used to it. It is really no problem in games however (I've tried it in Unreal 2004). This is the only gripe I have with it, but its enough to deduct a whole star. Some may also not like the fact that there are no Lock Lights, I suspect to save battery power, a message does come up on screen stating whether the locks are on or off however, and the Num Lock, Caps Lock and Flock lights are on the receiver, so its not a real problem. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this keyboard. Personallly, if you don't really need to go completely wireless, I would recommend buying the MX700 and the Corded Elite keyboard separately as you get the functionality of a regular keyboard, plus the extra great features of the Elite.
- Great Combo
     By A33VH8PREIDFM7 on 2003-11-30
This is the best mouse and keyboard set I have ever owned. The mouse is at least 2 times more precise than my microsoft optical. This gives me much better movement, and accuracy. Plus the mouse is picthed at a much better angle than others, allowing you to use it a lot longer unlike other brands that make your wrist ache. The keyboard functions and looks great too. The range is awesome, and the rechargable mouse saves time, aggrevation and money. My only dissapointment is that the mouse does not have some of the standard button signatures, meaning some games won't recognize the alternate buttons. Other than that there can be nothing negative said about this product, its a joy to use.Update- For those gamers out there. To make this mouse function with all games, just set the mouse to a standard ps2 mouse. This should allow you access to all of the buttons, except for the switch programs button. Of course by doing this you are not getting the support of the automated features logitech includes. But the feel, precision, and long battery life/recharge should be enough to make the switch.
- Excellent Products
     By A313TTGJW62ACM on 2005-12-07
Been using this mouse and keyboard since not too long after release.
KEYBOARD
Very nice to type on, buttons are responsive. Almost all of the extra buttons are reprogrammable via the included Logitech iTouch software, and easy to do so. I especially like the wheel on the left side of the keyboard. It is exactly the same as on the MX 700 mouse and can be clicked just like the mouse wheel to give a number of options. I personally find it much easier to control volume with this wheel than with the big silver wheel at the top center. I have never had to replace the pair of AA batteries used to power this keyboard.
MOUSE
Eight reprogrammable buttons via included Logitech MouseWare software. I have no lag when compared to a wired mouse and when used modestly the rechargeable AA batteries will last for several days without needing to be charged. There is a small patch of paint where the base of the palm rests that wears off over time and exposes the white plastic, which looks weird compared to the rest of the mouse, but that isn't a problem to me.
Overall, I highly recommend this combo. I have never had a problem, I use both mouse and keyboard every day and they have held up well in the years that I have owned them.
- Wonderful product
     By A1GFTKAUMOORP4 on 2004-09-06
I've had my cordless duo for quite some time now, and can recommend it to just about anyone. The range is great and if you have trouble with the reception, then you just need to change/charge the batteries. Programming it takes a little bit of skill, but is easy enough if you can follow directions. The feature I like most is the charger for the mouse. It's wonderful to not have to worry about mouse batteries. And, after a year of heavy use, I've only had to change the batteries in the keyboard once.
The keyboard is wonderful. I'm fairly specific about the touch and sound that I like in my keyboards, but the duo keyboard works wonderfully. I use the media keys constantly, to change volume, tracks, etc. They work flawlessly with both Windows Media Player (8 & 9 tested) and Winamp (2,3, & 5 tested). My only complaint with it is the web keys. I use Mozilla Firefox, and the keys do not work with that browser. However, they do work with Internet Explorer.
The mouse is great. If you're a righty, like myself, the feel of it is great and doesn't cramp up your hand after hours of use. The response is great with no lag, and ALL of the buttons can be programmed. It works wonderfully in firefox, letting me surf forward or back a page at the press of a button. The scroll wheel is solid. Further, the thumb buttons are nicely placed and feel great. A southpaw might be able to use the mouse, but would be better off looking elsewhere.
Overall, a wonderful product, and I've had no problems.
- Not good for notebooks
     By on 2004-01-08
My primary machine is a notebook running Windows XP Pro, which I take back and forth between work and home. At home, connected via the PS2 ports and a docking station, the combo works great, and I have zero complaints. At work, where I have to connect directly to the notebook via the USB port, there are problems. Usually either the mouse or keyboard will not work upon start-up. When they are working, there is often some functionality missing (one or more of the buttons do not work). After a few minutes of using the combo, both would then stop working. I tried all of the troubleshooting techniques, and the only one to work was unplugging and reinserting the cable. Needless to say, this is not something you want to do every 5 minutes. If you are going to use this setup attached to a desktop or docking station, it's fabulous. I can't recommend it for a notebook setup, however.
- Love it no wires to get in the way
     By A31AGVFTX974XV on 2003-08-01
I got this cordless Keyboard to get rid of the clutter of wires. I have been nothing but very happy with this Logitech Cordless MX Duo. I run a 1 GIG G4 Power Mac under OSX 10.2.6 and never have had a problem with it. I would tell all Mac users to go for it it well worth the money. It easy to set up once you down load the updated drive on the Apple site. other tham that is a dream to use.
- Seems to need a clear line-of-sight
     By A3LZAIH6S4LT56 on 2004-03-09
Beware! While the keyboard and mouse are extremely well-designed, I have great trouble getting them to connect consistently. I have the base station far from any electronic devices, and only about two feet from the keyboard/mouse, yet I still have problems. You can't let anything get in the line-of-sight between the base station and the devices. I had a stack of CDs between the keyboard and the base station, and the keyboard would "skip" a lot, missing letters and scrolling inconsistently using the on-keyboard wheel. If your setup would make it hard to keep the base station away from any electronic devices, and within a clear line of sight of the mouse and keyboard, I really can't recommend this device. Otherwise, it's definitely worth a try.

Considering a cordless keyboard and mouse combo? Look further. In fact look at the Logitech website and spend some time surfing their User Discussion Boards. If you do so I think you will save yourself the time and frustration I spent on this very attractive but poorly executed set.My initial out of the box experience was great. The keyboard was comfortable with some great touches, like the scroll wheel and volume knob, and the mouse is comfortable with some intended features that are tough to beat. That said, twenty minutes into using them everything went south. The mouse would lock up. Occasionally the keyboard would as well, other times not. There was no apparent rhyme or reason. After a long weekend of changing every setting, uninstalling the software and installing fresh off the newest drivers, reading and following every trouble shooting guide and FAQ and User Board suggestion Logitech had to offer I finally surrendered and repackaged this stunning looking set and sent it back to Amazon. Did I get a lemon? It is possible. Reading Logitech's User Boards has led me to believe that my experience may in fact be a pretty common occurrence based on the number of similar concerns voiced by other customers. If you are in the Market for a corded mouse consider Logitech's MX510. If you are looking for a wireless keyboard/mouse combo or a cordless mouse, however, I strongly encourage you to keep shopping.
