We got Little Touch Leappad for DS's first birthday and he is now 19 mos old. His favorite book is "If I were.." because he likes the pictures of the animals and the animal sounds.
HOWEVER, he doesn't like "Guess How Much I Love You" at all because it doesn't hold his attention. I think it was a waste of money.
Basically "Guess How Much I Love You" is the same as the regular story book of the same name. Leapfrog added sounds, of course, but the don't fit in well with the pictures. The focus is on instruments and the sounds they make.
If you have a small six month old baby, then this is the book you should buy because it the gentlest of the Leappad books. However, for a toddler, it is just too dull.
Very dissapointed.Not advertised correctly.per recipient .

I bought this for my grand daughter but apparently she can't use it because it needs something else to use it?My daughter in law informs me it needs the "Leap Pad" to play it in?There is nothing that tells you that it needs something to use it.So I have sent my grandchild something that she cannot use.Why don't you let customers know they need to purchase something else that this is an accessory item.No where does it tell you this!I am very dissapointed and will think twice before ordering from you again.
Not as much fun at 14 months

Out of all the books we have purchased for our Little Touch - this is the one my child does not enjoy. It is too slow for my 3 year old to have much patience with. Maybe I've read the board book to them too often and it makes this one drag. Also, the pages wrinkle easily (as do all the books for this product.)
This is a wonderful accessory for the Little Touch Leap Pad

My nine month old daughter received this cartridge as a present along with her Little Touch Leap Pad. Kids this age don't care about the story. They care about soothing voices and music, which this cartridge provides. The pages in the book are very durable and have so far withstood many crumplings! For the person who complained about getting their granddaughter "something she cannot use," there is a book included in the package that someone can read to her. Just because she doesn't have the Leap Pad itself doesn't mean the book cannot be put to good use.
A great toy for your growing child!

This toy has taught my son words, colors, animals, sounds, and shapes while also improving his eye-hand coordination and motor skills. The toy does require pushing a "GO" button after each page, though, so until they learn that, a parent will have to assist them or the words won't match the page they are on.
Overall, another quality Leap product.
Cute...and Quite Durable By A2V9Q2EXL31XKD on 2005-10-25
We got this for my daughter, along with the Little Touch Leap Pad, when she turned a year old. At this age, she isn't that interested in following the story or doing the activities on the book, but she is obsessed with turning the pages and looking at the pictures. This book seems flimsy but is actually QUITE durable. She has chewed on it, crumpled the pages, yanked on it, thrown it around, etc. and the pages DO NOT tear and they are also waterproof so the constant drooling doesn't mess up the book.
Mainly Just Tells the Story By AKTWQ1V8UNPIT on 2005-01-22
It's great if you just want your child to hear a story, but it's not as educational and exciting as all of the other Littletouch books.
No interest By A3OHL64F59IPO5 on 2005-05-29
This is not an interesting Leap Pad book for my 16 month old. He has an interest in instruments, but not in this book. Even my attempts to use it before bed to calm/soothe him have failed. Better off with others books in the group.
BORING!!!! By A1ZAV9LVCMF5AF on 2005-10-08
My daughter loves her other Leap Pad stories and activity books, but she was bored with this one. As she got older, I hoped she would grow into it. She is now almost three, and it still doesn't interest her. Plus, it is really no different than the regular book. (She would rather have me read the real book than listen to it on the Leap Pad.) Save your money- buy the book, don't buy the Leap Pad version.
Aggravating By A1TBUNNVIQRWI3 on 2004-12-03
I'm in agreement with the woman who found frustration over her granddaughter's book. I once bought my grandson a set of guitar strings for his birthday. Well, apparently you have to ALSO get a guitar in order for these things to work. Very aggravating to say the least.
By the way, this is a fine product.
Just not very interesting By A18SLX1JESM0EX on 2006-07-06
Though we have about a half-dozen books for the Leap Pad, we've been using a single one for months. This past weekend, we pulled out Guess How Much I Love You. We were VERY disappointed. All it does is read the book. Our 11 month old has been getting used to clicking on all the various brightly colored pictures on a page and getting all kinds of responses, but this book has very little other than reading the story. I suppose there are children who like to get a story "on demand", but ours isn't one of them. Also, while the pictures are beautifully done, they don't hold his attention like the others. I think they're better suited to a bedtime story than for an interactive pad like this, which is designed as an activity center. On a positive note, the vocal expression in the story is extremely good.
Now a word about the story itself. We were also disappointed with that. Neither of us were familiar with the story for Guess How Much I Love You. My wife continued to read it after our son got bored with it (which took less than a minute). As she read it, she felt that the parent was constantly playing one-upsmanship with the child. The child will say something along the lines of, "I love you THIS much." Instead of acknowledging the child's expression of love, the parent has to keep going one better, replying something like, "Well, I love you that much TIMES TWO". So, the child keeps trying to make the parent understand how overwhelming their love is, while the parent keeps ignoring it and focuses on their own emotion. Sure, there's something to be said for reassurance of your love for your child. But when they're constantly trying to express themselves using the biggest things they know about, a parent doesn't show off by proving they know about even BIGGER things.

I've been reading this story to my grandson since he was just a few weeks old. Now it comes to life for him.
Good product for the price By A1UBROMOUU2NVC on 2007-02-11
I bought this item for my best friend's 1 year old. Good pictures and good sound, but I would say that this particular book is for maybe 2-3 year old. At his age, he isn't all that interested in what the story is, just what sounds it makes. The sounds aren't as interesting as in the Winnie the Pooh book, or the Animal World book.
Wonderful story By A1FBHYKZS4B08A on 2007-04-04
but did not hold the attention of our 2 yr old. I agree with other reviews that the age range is a little off. I plan on keeping this software and see if maturity will help when this story is read later. Might make a good bedtime activity....
Boring By AGNSUYYV1H1YD on 2007-07-02
I was very disappointed with this book. My 19 month old daughter walked away after one minute. She liked the book that came with the Little Touch Leap Pad better. I worked with it for a little while to see if there would be anything interesting but it was just plain boring. This was a waste of money.
