  Here is what my 6-year-old daughter says about this set:
  
  "All the horses are flocked. The colors are beautiful. You can play lots of games with them. I like to play horse rescue games. All the compartments have pictures in the background."
  
  I'll add that this set has absolutely enchanted her, to the point where she doesn't play with her larger-sized horses any more. That may change, but this toy is a winner.
  
  

• Pasture Pals a dissapointment

  I purchased the pasture pals for my daughter thinking that they would be solid plastic toys because of the price. Upon receiving the toys I discovered that they are really hollow white plastic horses covered badly by a fuzzy cloth to resemble fir, and it falls off quite easily. I now have thrown many of them away as their manes fall off and their fur peals back to expose the white plastic beneath. I've only had the horses for a couple weeks. I'm very dissapointed.

  I bought this last Christmas for my then 7 year old daughter. She loved it! The other children loved it. I had one mom ask me where I got such a unique item. As far as the reviewer who said that they got them for their 2 year old and the fur falls off, these aren't meant for a 2 year old. My daughter has had hers now for a year and they are still beautiful. Cute display! Cute horses! Fun!

  I bought this set for my 5-year-old daughter at FAO Schwartz a few months ago. It is beautifully displayed prominently in her bedroom and she plays with it often. I read another review on this site about the fur falling off, etc. and I would say that perhaps this is not the best toy for a younger child; it is suitable for a young elementary schooler or older (my 7 1/2 year-old loves them, too). One wonderful aspect besides the beauty of the horses and their variety and their included pastoral scenes in their holder is that there is a description of each horse on the back of the holder. Very educational - now my daughters know all the different horses and their "functions"/activities. This is actually one of my daughter's BEST toys.

  This horse "display" is not meant for (most) toddlers as they may put them in their mouths or be a bit rough. My 8 yr old granddaughter, who cherishes her horse-toys, loves this shadowbox display of horses and plays with them more "responsibly". I find that it was a good value. The sellers also ship very quickly. It was very well packaged and the toy was in perfectly, new condition. I note they have a lot of quality items, not just senseless toys, on their list of toys. • Sad little plastic toys...DISPLAY only...dont waste your $$$

  we received this set as a gift for our then 2 1/2 year old son. I was really excited because we love all the Melissa & Doug puzzles and he loves horses! After about 1 week of playing with them, several of the horse's "coats" began to peel off the plastic toy. So now we were left with a sad display case (empty) and several sad little bald horses all over the play room. I think this would be nice for DISPLAY only. For horse lovers, buy some inexpensive ones at your local Big Lots and save the $$ for the well made items.

  These toys are great. They're soft and light. They're pretty sturdy, too. I've had mine for about a year now and one broke it's leg just a couple of days ago. These things don't shed; their hair staying in place. They're easy to stand up and fun to play with. Hop this review was helpful to you!

  I didn't buy these horses at Toys R Us; I bought them in Florida a couple of years ago, even though I live in Washington. I love them all. They all have names and their own stalls. I can remember their names just by remembering their stalls. On the top left corner is Superman, then Rain, Golden Gate, Rock River...
  And, I set up their stable on some fake grass I made, and they a pasture and to top it off, they have owners! Each of my Snubbies have their own horse, and they fit on them perfectly without falling off. Thank you!

  This horse breed set is very fun to play with it is very fun to play with it shows all the popular horse breeds in the box set and they are so pretty in that box set the are so fun to play with and you don't have to worry about breaking them because they are flocked and very unbeadable.
  
  
• Boys Love It Too

  I bought this set for my 4 year old nephew because my sister said he was driving my niece crazy by playing with her My Little Pony toys. This looked as close as I could get to "ponies for boys". Once it arrived, my 5 year old son pestered me for his own set -- going so far as to wish upon a star for a set of ponies (he has never expressed the least interest in horses before). All Christmas day, the three of them played with this set, rescuing the ponies with a helicopter, putting them in trailers, making stables out of boxes, etc, etc. It's now two days after Christmas and here I am, ordering a set for him.

  My 2 year old girl is enjoying it very much. Lots of small things to keep track of, but it seems children of this age like that sort of thing. The horses are good quality, the box is real wood, the backgrounds are printed cardboard but still nice. Good pick for the price.

  I bought this item for my daughter's fifth birthday, and I think it's great. She LOVES horses, and she proudly displays this set on her dresser. She likes to play with them as well. I love the display box. It has descriptions of each breed on the back, with a cute background for each horse. It's a very good item, and well made.

  My grandson is just turning 7 years old and I gave this to him as a birthday present. He loved it. It hangs on his bedroom wall and he takes the horses out that he chooses and then puts them back when he is not playing with them. It is a wonderful addition to his room which is decorated in a horse theme.

  We bought this to go with a stable we bought online from Amazon as well. They are cute, about three inches tall. You have to be careful because when you pull the rubber bands off it is kind of stuck to their skin. I do not think they would hold up for little guys. My daughter is five and she is very gentle with them. But, I think if you put too much wieght on them their legs would colapse and I think the skin will come off really easy. Other than that I think it was a great buy for the small amount of money that you pay.

  This horse set looks very fun and enjoyable to play with it has all the colors of horse Breeds even my favorite pintos I love horses and will love to have this set in my room I will even do a back flip for that set even if it includes breaking my bones I really really really want it so bad I hope I get it this Christmas.

  My 5 year old daughter just loves these horses. They are well made and really nice. She even likes to keep them in the wooden box. I bought other horses at the store and the fur all came off, right after the tail and main fell off. The Melissa and Doug Pasture Pals are stil in perfect shape.

  Do not waste your money on this one -- too many other nicer horse options out there. The horses are cheap fuzzy creatures. More effort by the manufacturer was put into the wood container that holds the horses but it is not a fun way to play with the horses anyway. My daughter put all the horses in a barn yard house she has and never looked at them again!

  This product was good overall. However, the horses are smaller than I realized and are not big enough for the large toy barn that Amazon paired it with. The storage box appears to be the nicest feature, solid wood, yet there is no cover for it so its not really practical for storage.

  I bought these for my twin 4-year old daughters for Christmas and they have a lot of fun playing with them. My major complaint is unless you lie the box flat and store it under the bed (or where ever you have room) the horses tend to fall out easily. Also they collect a lot of lint over time. Every little hair or piece dust seems to stick to them which can be annoying. Other than that they are pretty fun.

  This is very well worth the money for children who love horses. You should have seen the look on the little girl's face when she opened this! The wood box acts as a great holder for the horses as well. Info on each breed is given on the back of the box too. Horses are plastic with a felt covering, but sturdy enough to stand upright on carpet without falling down. Those looking for high quality display items for adults (i.e. porcelein or ceremaic) should look elsewhere. These are toys, but would still display well in a child's room on a decorative shelf.

  The horses are cute and well made. Alone they are a good item, but it is somewhat confusing that they are so small, too small for the Melissa and Doug barn. I would suggest that the company indicate they are much smaller than the barn (by the same company) in the ad, or also make horses that are identified as fitting the barn.

  I purchased this for my little 4 year old niece and she absolutely adores it. It has a little shadowbox, each box has a back set, and each type of horse is described on the back of the shadow box. The horses are plastic, but have fur. She is particularly careful with her things, so I'm not sure of their durability, and the horses could be easily scattered throughout the house and lost, causing lots of pathos - but for the child who is a collector of horses, it's a good gift.

  My daughter loves horses almost as much as she loves bathtime. Unfortunately in this case the two did not match! The horses' "fur" and manes did not withstand constant bathing. Also, they are made of plastic and break rather easily with rough play. I LOVE the crate they came in though. We kept that and I screwed it onto the wall, and we use it to showcase other miniature animals!

  My 3-year-old and 4-year-old just LOVE these horses! They are the perfect size for them and they have played with them endlessly since we got them several months ago. Are they the most durable and "realistic" toy horses out there? Heck no! But they gave us a large variety of horses at a very low price -- so it was perfect for us. If your child is a horse aficionado, this is probably not the set for you. But it is a great "starter set".
