  • Fun,educational and quiet!

    By A2QV1AVYIHNY63 on 2007-10-30
My daughter has plenty of toys with fancy lights and sounds that consume tons of batteries so I wanted something quiet. This toy was a good choice. I bought this puzzle when my daughter was 12 months old. She didn't start playing with it until 20 months. She now plays with it almost every day. Sometimes 2-3 times a day.

While she can match more than half of the puzzles at 21 months, she still cannot put the two matched pieces together. When she finds a match, she hands the two pieces to me and I put them together. I reinforce the educational aspect of toy by playing with her. I lay out all of the pieces on the floor and ask her to look for the black cat, yellow banana, beautiful butterfly, etc. When she finds a match, I praise her by clapping my hands. This encourages her to continue to play.

The box itself is also a fun game for my daughter. She's constantly trying to close the flaps and stick that one fish puzzle through the open slit. The box is also well made and has endured lots of pulling and tugging from the toy bin.

I only gave it four stars because this is a "two player" game. My daughter rarely plays with this puzzle by herself.

  • Great Toy

We have had this puzzle toy since my son was one. (He's 3 now.) It has provided hours of entertainment and education. We started by just showing him a few choices and matching, now he can easily do the whole box himself, and enjoys it. I like the textures, vibrant colors and nice large sturdy pieces. The nice sturdy box to hold them is great too.

  • One of the best puzzles for young kids!

    By A32ID7ZNSS1KGO on 2007-09-03
Get this for your child or as a gift. It is highly educational. It introduces different colors (the basics), as well as patterns (such as striped, swirly, spotted, etc.). And then, there're the different textures (furry, fluffy, rough, bumpy, etc.) which can actually be felt and touched by the child. These descriptive words and pictures are then matched to its corresponding partner (ex: swirly=lollipop, furry=rabbit, pink=pig) by means of locking in two puzzle pieces. The groove-and-tongue pattern is simple and big enough for young ones and every pair of puzzle is different. Great for teaching adjectives, pairs, vocabulary, textures, spatial skills, colors, etc.

  • Very Educational

My daughter is 19 m old. She is a little young for the product so far, but likes to see the pictures and the colors and touch the textures. She also tries to but the puzzle pieces together. It keeps her interest and I am very happy I purschased it.

  • Good product

This product is pretty good quality. It's made of heavy cardboard and the puzzle pieces fit together well. My daughter, who turns 1 in a couple of weeks, has fun staring at the pictures and tossing the pieces around. Her favorite is actually the box that the pieces are supposed to be stored in. She carries the empty box all over the house. She likes the yarn that makes up the box handle. I'm sure we'll get more use out of the puzzle pieces once she's older.

One thing I felt was misleading- there are not many "texture" pieces. The title of this product is "matching colors and textures", but out of 20 pairs, only 4 have texture. For the child, though, this will not matter-- it's just that I expected there to be more (at least 10 out of 20) textures.

  • Great educational toy

These puzzles are very educational, I only wish they had more pictures that interested my kids. They're 16 months old and although they don't understand the one color piece matches the picture, they love looking at the picture and seeing the word that corresponds. Some of the pictures are of odd things like for example a scarf. What baby even knows what a scarf is or uses one for that matter, so they can't relate to it and just ignore it. They could have at least done shoes or pants or clothing a little more familiar. But for the most part it is a great educational, fun toy and different from the same peg board puzzles that my kids have. Plus it will grow with them through the next couple of years until they could even play memory with the pieces upside down when they're much older.

  • Neat puzzle!

This is a great puzzle. My 16 month old got it for her 1st birthday, and she has always loved hauling it out of the box and playing with the sturdy pieces, but now it is making more sense to her. The only problem is that the pieces do not stay together well on carpet, but she just hands them to me to put together anyway. Probably will get more fun after 18 months or so.

  • Not many textured pieces
    By A1EIFIMA43D8UN on 2008-08-22
We just got this toy today and I was excited to have my son start playing with it when we got home. The product/idea is great. I just thought that there would be texture on each piece so that the child could learn to match by color, word, shape or texture. Only about 4 pieces out of 20 have texture on them.

  • Good educational product

I like the concept of this product, how you can match the color or the texture of the object. My 16-month-old son doesn't quite get the matching part yet. But I'm teaching him the names of the colors and the animal. One suggestion for product improvement - make them out of plastic or other more dueable material. My sons likes to chew on the puzzle pieces...

  • Color/texture puzzle

I thought my son (18 months)would like this more than he has shown an interest so far. I think he will like it when he is a few more months older. I was a little disappointed in the textures but I still like the concept of the puzzle.
