Fun but potentially dangerous By A1LR660Z19EW7R on 2007-05-02
The manufacturer actually lists this toy as being for 2-5 yrs. Our 20 mo. old and 3 yr. old both enjoy putting cookies in and taking them out of the cookie jar. They like naming the numbers and counting the M&M chips. They like pretending to bake the cookies.
Great right, wrong! The cookies are small enough to fit entirely into a 3 yr. old mouth and big enough to gag her. Luckily I was right next to her to help get it out fast. Age should be older than two unless they make the cookies too big to fit in a mouth.
Counting Cookies are Great By AYBBZ46HEP1UO on 2006-02-13
These were given to my 2 1/2 year old as a gift and I will admit that, at first, I thought it was a rather dull gift. My daughter LOVES it, though. She uses the cookies for counting (and sometimes counts the M&Ms on top). She also has fun playing with them in her kitchen. She cooks the cookies and feeds them to her stuffed animals. She counts how many cookies each doll gets. She spends a lot of time arranging the cookies (and other foods) in the cookie jar.
It's really a great toy. We like a lot of the Learning Resources products.
Cute, simple toy! By A1WUPF0L9YH9JL on 2006-12-12
I thought this toy was adorable. It's a great learning toy for math, but it's also fun for dramatic play! Two toys in one! This toy is also great for practicing fine motor skills. All of the cookies have a big white number on the bottom, directly correlated to the number of M&M's on top. So, you can count the top M&M's or work on number recognition by using the bottoms. My 18 month old daughter is also still obssessed with "put & take." So she spends lots of time just doing this with the cookies.
I have one slight issue with this toy - the top of the cookie jar doesn't fit on as well as I'd like. It never truly sits in place correctly, although it does sit on top of the cookie jar. I'm not sure if this is a manufacturing problem or if it's a shipping problem. It looks like the jar is VERY slightly bent into an oblong shape, which is why I think the top won't fit on. This could simply be a shipping issue just for me though. I've tried bending it back, but haven't had any luck.
Either way, educational and fun toy!
Simple fun with a purpose. By AJKN1OQ368JGH on 2007-12-25
This is one of those toys that you'll probably hold onto until your kids are grown and you'll let your grandkids play with (and tell them, "this used to belong to your mommy/daddy")
It appears to be made of very good quality (so far it hasn't been recalled for lead anyway!) The cookie jar lid doesn't go on firmly, but I think that is so your little one can get it off easily.
And it's simple fun that will least for many years. I got this for my 2 year old. She'll play with the cookies. I already caught my 3 year old playing with my 7 year old - explaining what the numbers were on the back of the cookies. So, it's nice that it'll get played with by a child for several years.
And maybe my grandkids one day.
Good for Fun and Counting By A2IKUVB2PS4QLT on 2008-02-19
I got this toy for my (now one year old) daughter for Christmas. She was almost 11 months old at the time. She had a lot of fun with it! She's a little young to really learn to count but she likes putting the cookies in the plastic jar and dumping them out. The cookies are a bendable plastic. My 3 year old son likes playing with it, too! This toy can be educational or just a lot of fun! I recommend this toy!
