Simply perfect

I bought this puzzle for my 3 year old son who was fascinated with planets and space stuff. I have never been so impressed with a toy purchase. You really can't find a better puzzle for kids. The pieces are quite large, and they're very durable. They also are "wipeable" in case sticky fingers get a hold of them. The picture itself is very colorful and pleasing to the eye. It shows all the planets, and includes the moon and sun. Even the asteroid belt. It's a great puzzle, and a great educational toy. I intend to get more puzzles from this company. Simply outstanding. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

This puzzle is very sturdy; not as bendy as most puzzles. My daughter loves putting this puzzle together. She is five and we are learning about the Solar System. I like this toy because after you put it together you can quiz your child on Solar system facts. Ask your child to point out which planet is the largest (Jupiter...although in this puzzle they make earth look larger because of the perspective)Ask him/her which planet is the smallest, which planet is closest to the sun...etc...etc...the learning never ends! There are always new solar system facts you can add into your fun! I strongly recommend this toy as a fun learning tool for you and your child. I really love all the Melissa and Doug products.

My 2 1/2 year old son received this puzzle as a gift. It's been a year now and he still loves it. It's a great family puzzle - and its large pieces are quite durable. Highly recommendable.

My boys, 7 1/2 and 5, both enjoy this puzzle immensely. It is very well made and the sturdy pieces are easily put together....no bent edges here. When completed this high quality puzzle depicts a beautiful illustration of the solar system which has sparked their interest in learning about planets, stars, comets, etc....highly recommended!

My 6 year old loves this puzzle. The only slight issue we have is if you don't layer the puzzle pieces in the box just so it is hard to close the box. This happens because the peices are so nice and thick....which is great. I only had to show my son once to slow down and put the pieces away slowly for him to get it. Other than that tiny hiccup it has been an everyday toy for my son for the past 2 months. I also found the puzzle at a discount chain (rhymes with floss) for half off so be on the look out.

The puzzle is sturdy as described and has beautiful, vibrant colors. The pieces are big enough for my 5-yr old to manipulate and assemble. The only downside is that the image is not clearly in order. The puzzle is from the earth's view. So I had to explain the order to my son. With its design, he assumed the sun was "first." Still a good buy.

This puzzle, like other (e.g., Farm Friends, Tyrannosaurus Rex, etc.) Melissa & Doug floor puzzles that I have purchased for my son, is colorful, large, and well-made. I originally purchased many of the puzzles for my first-born son when he was four, and now four years later, its wonderful to see my now eight year old son help his four year old brother assemble the puzzles. I recommend them because they have stood the test of time, provide entertainment for my sons, and are educational. My four year old knows many of the planets thanks to this puzzle (and to the planets hanging from the ceiling in his brother's room).

My two sons (6 and 7 when this was purchased) loved doing this puzzle. They would clear a space on the floor and work together to get the project done. It stayed in the closet for awhile and then when they both started a planets study in school, they went straight to the closet and pulled it out again. They then used it to tell me everything they'd been learning.

my 6yo ds got this from Santa for Christmas, and he really likes it! he's especially proud of the fact that he can do his puzzle all by himself -- the floor puzzles were definitely a hit w/our kids!

We have had so much fun with this and it is easy to put together. The downside is that the pieces all fit eachother whether they go together or not...so it's really for kids 3 and up OR kids who have a good sense of what it means to put together a puzzle. Very durable and vivid!

I bought this for my son when he was 4 years old. He loves the puzzle and still builds it (he is now 5 years old). The pieces are a nice large size and easy to handle. The puzzle is colorful and strong; the kids can walk on it.
- PLUTO IS MISSING

BOUGHT THIS PUZZLE WHEN IT WAS ON SALE FROM AMAZON.THE QUALITY OF THE PUZZLE IS GOOD. THE PIECES ARE A NICE SIZE AND SEEM LIKE IT WOULD LAST LONG. THE DOWNSIDE IS THAT PLUTO IS MISSING (AT LEAST ON MY PUZZLE) AND THE PLANETS ARE NOT LINED UP IN ORDER SO IT LOOKS LIKE A MESS IN OUTER SPACE!THAT MEANS, IT LOSES OUT ON THE EDUCATIONAL VALUE. WHICH IS WHY I RATED IT 2 STARS.TO MAXIMIZE THE BENEFIT OF THIS PUZZLE, MELISSA AND DOUG SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE EMPHASIS ON THE LAYOUT OF THE PLANETS RATHER THAN THE COLORS AND EFFECTS.
- Fun, educational and durable

This brand makes excellent quality floor puzzles at a good price. They are durable and last the poundings that my 4 year old godson has given them so far (he's had a couple others for over a year now). They are a lot of fun to do and this one also teaches them about our solar system. The big bright pieces keep most little ones engaged.

We own several Melissa and Doug jumbo puzzles and my 4 yr old girls love them. They have been putting them together since they were 3 yrs old. I love the size and sterdiness of the pieces. We really enjoy doing these puzzles as a family.
- No Pluto?

This is another great puzzle from M&D. The pieces are durable, and thick enough to assemble on carpet. The puzzle is difficult enough for our 2yr old to take some time to assemble, about 20 min... the pieces are large enough for her to handle. We have not come across "wrong connections"- where two wrong pieces actually fit together. She now knows the names of the planets... but no Pluto? It looks as if this drawing/painting was made after Pluto was deemed a dwarf planet, so it comes off as a bit of an oversight... however, the realtionship of the planets in size and distance, espicaly the size of the sun is very good, and the picture is very colorful. At 2'x3' the finished puzzle must be huge to a 2yr old!

My daughter (just turned 3) loves this puzzle. She has learned her planets and gets better each time putting more pieces together. One of her favorite toys from the holidays! I highly recommend it!
- Educational and fun

This puzzle is a favorite with my grandson (5 years old) He got it as a gift at 4 years old and can put it together himself. The colors are great, he liked it so much I purchased the dinosaur and underwater floor puzzles for him for Christmas. They are a toy that keeps being used! Highly recommend!

- Great Floor Puzzle

I ordered the solar system floor puzzle for my 6 year old grandson for his mini 4-H project. He is doing the Sun, Moon & Space mini 4-H project and really doesn't like to do crafts. He has completed the puzzle by himself a couple of times already. He is a pretty good puzzler so this puzzle was pretty simple for him, but the pieces are large and very strong. I also ordered some puzzle glue to make it into a picture. I purchased a poster frame and it should fit perfectly as it is 24" x 36". We will hang this in his room until 4-H fair time and then it will be on display.
I would highly recommend this puzzle. It very educational since it pictures the solar system. It's pieces are strong and well made. When I ordered the puzzle came in just a few days too!

This puzzle is well made and durable, which is great for my 2 year old who loves puzzles. She will get this out at least once a day and put it together. It has also been fun interacting with her as she has started asking questions about the planets and learning about the solar system as best as a 2 year old can.
