Great Case for Casual or Business Traveler By A3EZEP0FX5BC1P on 2005-09-25
When I was shopping for a notebook case that was not too bulky for everyday use. I only needed to bring my notebook and power cord, and an occasional file or two.
This Samsonite L35 laptop carrying case is exactly what I need for both everyday and travel use. I have it for each of my laptops. Not only does it carry all the necessary notebook requirements (power cable, ethernet cable, files, etc.), but everything else such as my wallet, phone, and sometimes a slim external hard drive.
The added padding protected my laptop from its demise after a few accidental mishaps. Thanks, Samsonite!!!
For my personal laptop, I have a Sony VAIO with a 13.3" screen, and it carries all of the necessities, which include a wireless optical mouse.
For my work laptop, I have an HP (Mobile Centrino) with a 15" screen, and it fits it perfectly! I carry more things, which include a wireless optic mouse, a wireless USB network adapter (to supplement/increase the gain of the internal wireless card on my notebook), and a CD wallet case. The other great thing about this case is the "flap" that can fit onto my carry-on luggage pull handle. If one didn't know what this was for, it can be easily mistaken for an external compartment with a "design flaw" of having the bottom of the pocket open. I am a professor at a medical university, and I travel at least once a month to give lectures in Universities and Scientific Conferences, so this is a definitely a big design advantage for travelers.
Conclusion: It is small enough to be conveniently used for everything I need it for, yet big enough to carry everything that I need.
Because the Samsonite L35 is doing its job as a notebook carrying case, I gave it 5 stars. I use the L35 when I just need to carry the notebook and the power cord. I also have the Samsonite XT530, which can hold more things, such as files and cables and peripherals portable drives. The XT530 is what I use when I need to bring more stuff.
Good for light laptops only......... hinges tear off easily By A13AT8V4WGJONP on 2005-04-14
When I first got this bag, it worked great. After about 3 months of regular use of bringing my laptop to school, I noticed the fake leather over the hinges for the shoulder strap started to tear, and eventually, they both broke off. I basically dropped my laptop the first time this happened and was not in a good mood. I hooked the straps on to the handle hinges which seemed to be a little sturdier, but they just tore off also. The construction of the hinges to the bag are not very good, as they rely upon the fake leather and a little (too small) of a a bolt that just goes into the bag (no washer on the inside to deter the bolt from pulling off the bag). The laptop I have is an older IBM T20 with an AC adapter and an extra battery. I'm guessing this is too heavy for the bag, even though the laptop is relatively light. I would never buy this model again.
Not for Dell E1505 By A3IV2CODTH5IN on 2006-04-11
I bought this case for my new Dell E1505 laptop. It would have been perfect if its an inch bigger. Its quite a struggle to keep the notebook into the case.
Well built and comfortable, with one flaw. By AXDCA2CU2BNSG on 2004-05-17
I bought this for my thin and light Averatec, which has a 12.1" screen and weighs just over 4 lbs. This case could certainly fit a larger notebook but suits my laptop admirably. It also leaves plenty of room for the charger and mouse. I put work related stuff in the case, for example professional journals, with plenty of room left over. The material has a nice feel to it, the zippers zip smoothly, and overall the case has a well-crafted, sturdy but light feel.My only complaint is that one of the large outer pockets has a hole built into the bottom, just large enough to let papers or magazines fall out! This built-in gap makes no sense whatsoever. I am thinking about stitching it closed, but then why should I have to do such a thing to a new product from a name brand manufacturer? I can put reading material in the other pockets, but again, that simply begs to question as to the purpose of this cut-out. Were it not for this silly design error, the case would earn 5/5 stars.
Good Quality, But too tight for 15in laptop By A26YBUAUQQBX86 on 2004-12-09
I bought this for my 15in. Laptop. The laptop did fit in snugly, by with the power cord and USB optical mouse, it bulged in the frontan I had some difficulty closing the zipper. The quality of the material is excellent though. If you have laptop with 15in. or bigger screen, my suggestion is to look for a bigger one.
- Bad straps - don't buy
     By ASY6K1MX1BGI4 on 2005-07-21
I agree with the other reviewer who has said that the side leather straps holding the hinges are not strong enough. The case itself looks very good and I bought it for its elegant, minimalist design. After buying it, I realized that the case magically loses its looks when you put stuff in the front pocket (even the laptop power cord makes the case look obese). I have been using the case for about 9 months now. The side leather straps have developed cracks. These days I am using the handle to carry the case around because I am afraid that the straps will break completely. The straps are held to the case by small rivets. I am pretty sure that they wont be able to take the weight. The case did come with a limited 3-year warranty. But the caveat is that I have to bear the shipping expenses to the repair shop. Moreover, they have not provided the address of the repair shop. I am planning to call the 1800 number that they have provided. Overall, I am not at all happy with my purchase. I think this case is overrated and overpriced. For some reason there is a lot of hype surrounding this case. Just don't buy it.
- Small Bag
     By A474XFNEBVSBI on 2004-02-18
Purchased this bag for use with a Toshiba Satellite 15" screen laptop. The laptop barely fits into the bag, and it is obvious the bag was designed for use with no larger than a 14" screen laptop. The bag does however have a quality look and feel to it. I would recommend this bag for laptops with a screen smaller than 15".
- Nice Case For The Essentials
     By A1V6HQU4HK2CIS on 2005-02-25
Update 7/2006: within a few months the handle rivet gave out. Given the low price I didn't even bother trying to get it repaired. This is a fatal flaw and if I could remove stars I would give it a zero.
-------------
The case is well-built and seems rugged. It is all nylon, good-looking and devoid of any leather accents. The shoulder strap is padded and has webbing on one side for slip-resistance; the zippers and handle have a comfortable rubberized feel though I think the handle could be a little stiffer. All the metal parts have a nice satin finish.
My 15" screened HP ze4900 series laptop fits perfectly into the padded pocket in the main compartment. This pocket doesn't allow you to open the laptop while it is inside the case and can impede removal of the computer when the bag is partially unzipped (slightly inconvenient at an airport security station or while on a plane) but it does offer good protection. There is a velcro strap to secure the computer inside the pocket but it is too short to be useful and the case is snug enough that I don't use it at all.
There are two additional pockets in the main compartment for accessories and a larger pocket for files. Filling the accessory pockets with a mouse and charger does create some bulging but I feel this is acceptable when compared to the Kensington case which has a bigger footprint and was too big for this computer. The file pocket can only handle a half-inch worth of papers with the computer and accessories loaded.
The front pocket has space for a PDA or cell phone, pens and business cards, maybe a pair of sunglasses and travel documents.
With regard to the rear pocket, it is really not a pocket but a sleeve that allows the case to be slipped over a rolling suitcase handle. I didn't think much of it until I used it and now I think it is the best feature of this case -- wonderful for travel, looks slick, and is quite secure. And if you are using a black Samsonite suitcase so much the better for overall appearance. This sleeve also has a zippered compartment but I haven't used it because it is small and its contents are subject to bending if you are using the sleeve with a suitcase.
Overall a good case if you like compact size, simplicity, and style over tremendous capacity.
- Compact and surprisingly versatile
     By A1WUASKQIA5J2A on 2005-11-08
Bought this for a dell laptop. The side pocket is surprisingly roomy.. The back opening is WONDERFUL for attaching to your wheeled luggage and overall access to pockets and documents is great. Very well built and sturdy, excellent padding to keep my computer safe.
- Slimming
     By A3AYJ791V932YC on 2005-08-17
Ok, I was stupid b/c I have a 15.4" widescreen laptop and I got this bag anyway. I guess I was stubborn. Well, it fits, but it's reallllllly tight. I would not recommend this bag for more than 15" screen laptops. haha. Besides my own error, the bag is very slimming and easy to handle. It looks very chic and I've been getting a lot of compliments from my friends. I actually don't use it that much so everything is still in excellent shape. I would highly recommend it for people thinking about buying a laptop bag that isn't too bulky. For some reason, it attracts dust... I think it's the polyester fabric.
- Great Bag for 15.4" Laptops
     By A4P2TC0ERVLZ8 on 2006-02-08
I have bought this bag recently. Had lot of thoughts in my mind before I bought this bag, because I read in the reviews that this bag doesn't accommodate big size laptops (like 15" & 15.4"). But I took the chance to buy it. When I got the bag, I was so surprised to see that, my Dell 8500 (15.4") laptop sits in so comfortably. I would recommend to buy it, because of its good quality and low price.
- perfect fit
     By A1OT89GNIXNJ7R on 2005-09-20
i have a 15.1 in laptop from dell. this fits it perfectly and snugly around it. its also easy to pull out. the pockets fit my needs perfectly. nothing comes close as far as the price goes.
- poor quality
     By A15VKFMOFIL67C on 2007-12-14
The product was of poor quality.just after one use the shoulder pad ripped off.I had expected better quality from samsonite.
- It doesn't fit!
     By A2ERHPAF9XRKO4 on 2005-08-15
Definitly a sharp looking notebook case, but DOES NOT HOLD a 15" as it states in the description... plus, there is really no room to hold accessories (charger, mouse, etc).
- Classy, durable and price-friendly laptop case
     By A2HYR9Z7YH0SIV on 2005-09-02
Before buying the Samsonite case I shopped at every store and on every website possible. I am very pleased with my purchase and my new 15" Mac Laptop fits perfectly inside. It's a classy, professional looking case. Some users complain about it not having enough compartments to hold things, but I find it just perfect to suit my needs. You can't put something as thick as a binder inside, but it has the compacity and pockets to hold at least 3, 1 subject notebooks, floppy disks and CD's, power chords and the like. It also has pockets to hold cell phones and Ipods. The strap is comfortable and is held on by metal clips that should not break. There is also a handle if you would rather carry it that way. I love this case! Don't be afraid to buy one for your expensive technology investment too.
- Excellent value and a quality notebook case
     By A2FMJ5IL5A0JCP on 2005-09-15
I purchased this case for my daughter's Dell 14.1 inch notebook and it fits perfectly with just enough room to spare. It is sturdy, well made, good looking and far better quality than the vinyl bags I've seen in many stores selling for over $40 and $50. The side pocket to slide over the handle of any rolling luggage if you are traveling is another handy feature. There is also plenty of room and compartments for various accessories. Overall, I too would have paid more for this quality case.
- A great value for the money.
     By A3NIZPFJZBVXM3 on 2005-09-23
Very economical, yet well made and intelligently designed. This case is actually a bit nicer than the one that came with my 15" Dell laptop. A generous fit for a 12" notebook. Worth every penny.
- Wheres the foam?
     By A19369GZV46EKS on 2006-03-16
The photo online and on the card attached to the case shows foam. Where is it? I don't have any foam included. Threre is NO way this thin! thin! thin! case would protect a pencile let alone a heavy laptop. Don't waste your money. Mine goes back tomorrow!
- stylish and compact
     By A1YWOOC82SQEXI on 2006-11-19
Having owned this carry case for 4 months now, I feel confident to offer this review. The samsonite notebook L35 is stylish and compact. You can pack the notebook, power adapter, a mouse (I like using a separate mouse instead of the mousepad), a couple of 3-subject notebooks for writing, pens, and other small accessories. But that's about it. There's not much wiggle room in this carry case. If you need a more space, don't get this. But if you're looking for a compact carry case that's stylish and clean looking, this is the ticket. My notebook is a Toshiba Tecra A5 and this carry case seems tailor built for it.
(I subtracted a star because the zipper action in the main compartment is not as smooth as I would like it to be).
- wouldn't recommend it
     By AHMCDBP31I9MZ on 2007-01-23
I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. After less than 3 weeks of ordinary use, the strap is ripping away from the case. I guess it's okay for storage or infrequent use, but it's too flimsy for daily use.
- Nice Bag...Just the right size
     By A1IMISU4CN9FZ8 on 2007-03-01
I wanted something that was durable, would protect my laptop, and provided space for essential accessories. This bag does all of that perfectly. Like a previous reviewer said of his Dell 15.4" it too fits my HP DV6000 15.4" "SNUGLY" but nicely. I didn't want an oversized bag for my laptop and stuff, I wanted a smaller form, protective sleek case. That is what I got from the L35.
- Nice bag, but small
     By on 2003-11-22
I have a compaq presario 2200z, it fits, and all the acessories (Network cable, wifi card, pens, etc.) and it looks very stylish, but my power cable transformer also fits, but with a bulge.
- A Good Value
     By A2RLAECZP50SUV on 2004-06-05
I have an Emachines M6805 with a 15.4" screen and it fits this case. It is snug but not tight. The case is well designed and made. There are plenty of padded pockets and lots of velcro. A nice (and unexpected) feature is that the outer pocket has a hole at the bottom and is designed to fit over the extended handle of wheeled luggage. A real plus since this laptop is fairly heavy. A good case for the price.
- Not so big
     By A3QD62YPMNC34H on 2004-09-22
I have a Dell 1150 14" screen and I had to return the case because it wasn't big enough. Also, the hole in the back pocket (for sliding on the luggage carrier) seems a little big--don't know if I would trust papers not to fall out of there.

- Superb & Uniquely Designed Notebook Case!!!
     By A3CFF8SAMWJLOU on 2005-12-24
This case is very accommodating and is a must have for Notebook travelers. The case itself is very sturdy, strong, and useful. You can store a PDA, documents, magazines, and other personal belongings in this well crafted case. I highly recommend this version and more importantly this brand. Samsonite is amongst the elite.
- very good especialy for women
     By A2WQURRD44VVLJ on 2006-08-25
This case is small but neat and at the same time has pleantly of room for your laptop and some additional documents and other devices like cell or handheld PC. Looks good especially for women who are looking for something small and elegant. The only problem I have with is that the compartment for a loptop is very small. But I could fit there my 15.4" DELL. However when you want to take out or put in your machine is very unconveniece and the compartment seems too tight, but I am sure smaller dimenstion doesn't have that problem. Over all, I am very satisfy with a purchase.
- Nice bag for the money
     By A1C92FV1I5FM4T on 2006-11-05
I bought this for a Dell 1405 laptop 14" screen, it fits perfect, could be problems for any larger size laptop. Quality is very good, well constructed. If it had more padding I would rate it a 5 star.
- Samsonite L35 Notebook Case
     By A1356QTSRMSLBD on 2007-09-08
It's a very stylish, comfortable and quality business looking bag. Samsonite knows how to make such things and you won't be disappointed again. This bag it's all about notebooks, few accessories and not much space for random stuff. I bought this one for a 14.1" notebook and it fits well, even has some room for a bigger device. Here is a list of items I was able to fit in without having to much hassle:
- Notebook 14.1" wide screen
- Notebook power supply
- Network and modem cables
- Notebook wireless mouse
- Few DVDs
- iPod video
- Slim digital camera
- Cell phone
- Pens, note stickers and other office gadgets
- Wallet
But one can hardly use this bag for more computer or personal stuff in addition. So, if you prefer more space or use only one bag for everything, this one is not for you.
Pros:
- Quality, stylish looking, solid feel, elegant and slim bag
- Comfortable, light and easy for everyday business use.
- Well designed for 14.1", max 15"notebooks
- Handles the notebook and other electronic devises secure
- Good materials and no cheep look and feel
Cons:
- Handles just the basic notebook needs and no place for additional accessories or personal items.
- Very poor construction
     By A3UKA8LZ2KVJNM on 2007-11-18
I purchased this case because it looked very functional...To my surprise the rivets popped out and the zipper broke about two weeks into it's use. I have never been disappointed by a Sampsonite product until now. I have written to them and received no communication in return!
